Golden State Property Management

Sean was referred to us by our realtor, David Lewis (whom we also highly recommend). We decided to rent out our home while we were living out of state instead of selling. My husband was very opposed to the idea of renting out our property until a talk with our accountant and meeting Sean changed his mind. We interviewed three property management companies and my husband felt immediately comfortable with Sean. We learned Sean comes from a 'real estate family'. He owns and runs Golden State Property Management company. He was professional, well spoken, and he kept things simple - no drama, whatever. He took care of things when they needed to be done. He found us dream tenants. We were able to receive the amount of rent we were looking for. The service providers he used for maintenance and cleaning were reasonably priced but did above average work. When we moved back into our home, the house was cleaner than I left it. It turns out that they called my husband back to San Jose, within a year as opposed to the anticipated 5-6 years. We reluctantly had to ask our tenants to leave and Sean handled that part flawlessly. We were able to move in as we came back. There were no problems at all. All accounts were settled timely. His management fee was reasonable at 8.5% of the rent plus a one time set-up fee of $125 (May, 2012). It was reasonable compared to other rates we had seen. We used him from May, 2012 through July 2013. We have not a single complaint. On the contrary, Sean and Golden State Property Management far exceeded our expectations. We wish more of the companies we have to deal with were like them. We would use them again and highly recommend them to everyone with no hesitation. My delay in writing a review is only because I misplaced the file after the second move and just now found it. I wanted to have the correct dates and costs before I posted a review.
