The location for the old and new machines was problematical, small, and required running extra piping, in unusual directions. They were creative, thoughtful, and pleasant and worked with the situation resourcefully. I was especially pleased that they sent the same men to actually do the installation as had done the original assessment. It certainly made the most sense and worked very well. Also, the owner worked with me on the price of the assessment, which I appreciated.
Description of Work: The job was to remove an old washer and dryer and install new ones. They send two men to inspect the machines and location first, to determine how the new ones would connect and plan for extra hoses, etc. They were prompt, polite, and made complete notes requesting extra needed parts. On the day of delivery, they again arrived on time, removed the old machines with a minimum of fuss, and even helped me clean the area before the new machines were installed. They were installed perfectly, and have worked very well.

First of all the technician was not upfront and honest about the fact that he could not get the parts for my stove that it needed in order to be repaired yet he was going to charge me the full price anyway. Finally he decided to take off $100 the bill, yet he didn't finish the job, and only reduced the price once I complained to him, not out of good conscience. The best part of all however, is that he caused 2 leaks in my gas line and flooded my house with gas. I had to evacuate the home for the day (with my newborn baby) until The Gas Company could come and clean up his mess. This company was also rude to me on the phone when I called them to tell them what happened.

They were great. Everything was fine. He was done in 45 minutes and he charged me for the call. There was nothing wrong with my microwave and he indicated that if I have a future issue that call charge would not be charged. He would waive it next time. I spent $50 or $60. The interaction was very good. The man who came here purely had English as his second language. I think it may be Slavic language, but he was really good and took his time to explain things in English. He was very generous and nice about the whole thing. I don't know if language is an issue with Angie's List. I thought that this gentleman did an excellent job. I would use him again in the future.
Description of Work: I used the services of AAA Your Local Appliance Repair about a month ago. He came in and diagnosed my microwave oven.

I described the problem, Mike gave a brief examination, agreed it was the igniter and quoted $330.00 to fix it. The fix took less than 30 minutes. The part replaced retails for $25.00 -- the labor (including a quoted 30% angie's discount) amounts to $600/hr. OK, let's allow a 1/2 hour transit time to the job to be included -- $300/hour total. Since I've take the old part, looked up the installation instructions, it was neither a technically challenging or mechanically difficult job. It was get access to the part, unplug the old, replace the new.

We are writing today regarding your heating unit. To start, why did you wait 2 months after the job to complain? Why didn't you call us and express your were dissatisfied so that we could try and make you happy? We have called you and left you 2 messages since you have left this report about us last week. As for the job, the part that we installed did not cost $25. Before our technician did the job, he told you AND showed you that the new part was of much higher quality than the old part. It is an updated, more costly version. And regarding the amount of time worked and the amount of money paid; we do not charge by the hour, we charge by the job. You pay for the job and for the knowledge of the technician. Him finishing the job as quick as he did shows that he is truly professional and knowledgeable. In summary, the part was not $25 dollars and the technician showed you why. The job charge was not $600 per hour. First, the heater was in the attic, which makes the job more expensive. There was time spent for the inspection, and with his vast knowledge of heating and air conditioning he was able to quickly find the problem and then with your approval of the job and price, fix the problem.

Job was finished to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: My washer dryer combo needed a new part, and the price I was originally quoted seemed rather high, and the repairman did give me some attitude when I questioned the price. Ultimately they knocked some money off the total, which leads me to believe their original quote was somewhat inflated.

AAA Your Local Appliance Repair were not able to fix it because we bought it from Lowes already with a defect. They ordered a new fan and computer for it but none of that worked. After it was all said and done, I would have to replace the entire refrigerator so I said enough was enough. They refunded me for their labor. I was satisfied with their effort.

I was told that my compressor was a knock off made in South America and that I should go with a new Sub Zero brand. That sounded reasonable so I went ahead and bought the new one. I paid over one thousand dollars on the unit alone WITHOUT man hours. I was told that this had a much better warranty and that I could rest easy this time. Well, exactly one year later the drawer unit is on the fritz again! And guess what? NO WARRANTY! That's right. Look at the fine print, I was told. I did. ONLY 90 DAY WARRANTY! For a brand new compressor! I have since spoken to other repair companies and have been told that is exceedingly short for a new compressor.

Please call the office if you receive this message. I was still trying to speak with you when you hung up on me. I tried immediately to call you back but no one answered. We need to come check your unit. There probably isn't a problem with the compressor. It is not the only component that controls the cooling. Even if I could try and fight the manufacturer for a full 1 year warranty, you are already past the 1 year mark since installation. You even wrote on your review that you had the work done January 1st, 2010. It is now February 2011.

When Michael arrived he commented that our refrigerator was a brand new model and thus should be covered under the warranty. He advised further that the repair would be quite costly and that we should contact KitchenAid for a complimentary repair service. Michael was quite professional and courteous and shared his obvious expertise with us without charging us for his time. In this day and age that's amazing in itself. Whenever we need appliance service in the future, we will never forget this ever-so-brief experience and use these wonderful folks whenever necessary.
Description of Work: The flipper on our new KitchenAid built in refrigerator was not working correctly so we called AAA Your Local Appliance Repair and was able to secure an appointment for a Saturday afternoon no less.

When I started my washing machine it would stop somewhere in the cycle. I had to pull the knob out again to get it going. So I called Nationwide to find out what was wrong. I was told on the phone that there would be a $55 service call charge but that it would apply to the work to be done if I hired them. Boris came out within 2 hours and immediately determined that it was the timer. He called it in but they had to order the timer. I asked how much and was told $295 plus tax. Boris called me the next day to bring the new timer and install it. I mentioned that I was a member of Angie's List and I got 30% off of the labor charge. Boris seemed like he knew what he was doing and work was completed in about 30 minutes. All works well now.

My front loader was stuck with a beep code that indicated that the problem was a failed circuit board and to call a repair service.I called AAA Your local Appliance Repair. At phone 3238741665. for a service call. I informed them that the washing machine a kenmore had indicated that a new circuit board was needed according to the Kenmore maintenance guide book. An appointment was made to call between 10 AM and 1PM the next day. I was told that there was a 65.00 call charge which would be applied to repairs if auththorized , so for so good The technician named Boris arrived at 12.55AM after I called to see if the call was still on. After a minute or two he informed me that I required a new circuit board! Exactly what I had told them over the phone. Then he informed me that it would be $500.00 to do the work. This is on a machine that cost $500.00 new. Needless to say I thought that was ridiculous and that as I had told them what was needed I thought it was their duty to inform that we were talking about that high a cost over the phone and save everyone the trouble of making a service call. As I was to pay $65.00 for this call I then asked Boris to remove one of the agitator blades from the broken machine to my other machine which was missing one of it's blades. Iwas then informed that that would cost $125.00 to perform that service. I protested that this was way to high for performing a service of popping out a blade that was held by 4 plastic tabs to the drum, he told me that to do it he would have to disassemble the washer. I informed him that was not so .The blades were held by the tabs and could be switched from inside the drum. After he left I replaced the blade myself , it took all of five minutes. So in the end I got nothing for my $65.00 and Boris was there 15 minutes. Now I have to decide if it really costs $500.00 to repair this machine ( I find that hard to believe as this must be a problem for this type of front loader. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems outrageous to me that a repair costs more than a new product, and on a machine that is only 3 years old. Any way the whole thing left me felling less than satisfied. A little honesty would have saved the whole situation but I fear that was not to be had from Boris and by default from AAA your local appliance repair. A DBA for Nationwide Appliance Service Inc. The following Phone Numbers were listed for AAA Your Local Appliance Repair . 818-831-8191 310-374-4428 805-374-9243 323-874-1965 626-794-5087. I used the 323-874-1965. I would not recommend them to anyone. John B Smith I must add that Boris did say that it could be water fill valve and that would be $280.00 with no guarantee that would solve the problem. So I declined

Very cordial on the phone, repairman arrived at 11:40am in the 9am-12pm window. No phone call prior. The repairman examined the unit for 2 minutes and estimated the repairs to be $250-$300 per unit which seems incredibly high. With the washer, I asked if I could order just the part from their company and he said "absolutely not" nor would there be "anyway" someone in my house could replace the rubber rim. I would not have asked if another repairman had not mentioned that it was a very simple and inexpensive repair. Since the other repairs had been completed under warranty I unfortunately have no exact price to compare. I did consult a friend who does repairs on applicances (sadly not Samsung) and he also mentioned that it was an inexpensive part, but very hard to find. He said that Samsung was problematic in their upkeep specifically because of the scarcity of parts. But after my experience with Nationwide i would be vary wary of their quotes being excessively high. I felt it was slightly dishonest and advantageous but of course would not have known this if two separate repairman had not told me prior.
Description of Work: I own a Samsung washer and dryer which has had one ongoing problem. The rubber boot on the washer has gotten a rip 3 times in the 3 and half years I've owned the units. The dryer also has recently developed a problem with it's sensor and shuts off power during the cycle. Samsung has repaired the washer the first two times under it's warranty. Both times the repairman fixed the problem in under 20 minutes and one of them mentioned that the part was very inexpensive and not hard to repair.

On June 24th, I emptied our ice tray, and noticed at the end of the day, that we still didn't have any new ice. Called Nationwide on the morning of June 25th, and they had someone out the same day. The technician pinpointed the problem. We needed a new ice maker. He had the part on the truck, so he was able to do the repair right then and there. He showed me how the old ice maker was broken. The technician was fast and efficient. Even though our old ice maker was more than 12 years old, and needing a new one at this point wasn't unusual, he cautioned me about having anything in the upper drawer of our freezer which might come into contact with the ice-maker and cause problems. So he showed me how to avoid future problems. The next day, however, I noticed that we had very few ice cubes. I called Nationwide back right away and the same technician came back that day, no problem. He quickly located the problem - I was moving things around in there and by accident I slid something across the area which turned off the ice maker. I was embarrassed, but he clicked it on, and that was that. He was cheerful and really nice. After that, no problems whatsoever.
Description of Work: The ice maker in our refrigerator was broken. Technician installed new ice maker. He had the part on his truck, so he did it right away. He showed me the old, broken, ice maker after he removed it, and pointed out why it wasn't working and had to be replaced. The broken ice maker was at least 12 years old.
