The crew that came out did a reasonable job of installing new Pex lines. However, at one point they turned on all faucets in the house, not noticing that one upstairs faucet had a slow drain. The result was a minor flood through the floor. Later, because they switched hot and cold water pipes in one bathroom, another minor flood developed, with water coming down through the downstairs ceiling. After installing the Halo unit, the crew failed to secure the drain tube in the laundry room drain pipe. As a result, the first time the system drained, the drain tube popped out and I woke up to water all over the kitchen, hallway, and family room floors. This necessitated them bringing in huge floor fans for 3 - 4 days, and some extra drywall work. Also, after they installed the Halo unit, the water pressure in the outside irrigation system dropped dramatically from previous levels (unable to determine reason), which cost an additional $2,000 for a new direct line from the street.

To say that I am disappointed by Repipe 1 would be a huge understatement. I have also lost all credibility for Angie's list, as I can not believe a company with sloppy, incompetent staff and with such lack of professionalism and respect can be rated so high.
Since the problems are so numerous I am putting them in a list form:
1. Floods and leaks
The first leak/flood in the basement closest to the street due to improper connection. Fixed within 24h but did not clean. We had to clean up the water.
The second leak/flood in the basement close to the back stairs. Never figured out the reason. Again, minor but it did get out camping gear wet.
The third flood was under the house and this time quite a bit of water accumulated. The reason was that there was debris from the old pipes not cleared out that created blockage. It took a while to soak up all the water. A lot of our tools and winter sports gear got wet.
The forth leak/flood was pretty major. Around dinner time on Mother's day water started to rain from the boards on the celling coming from the 2nd floor toilet. It lasted hours. There was damage to a cabinet and it's contents, floors, walls and it leaked all the way to the basement. There was a lot of water everywhere and it got us worried about mold. It is also hard to watch so much water go to waste. The explanation was that it had something to do with a pressure valve on a toilet on the second floor that they forgot to bring/install. When we called Ramiro, the project manager, to report the leak he refused to come saying "What do you want me to do? Leave my family and deal with you?" We were shocked by such a rude response. Carlos eventually came and stopped the leak.
2. Damage to the house and appliances:
The workers broke one of the antique windows in the hallway. It took a month to replace it, increasing the energy cost. Understandably an exact match couldn't be found, so now our hallway windows are mismatched.
While cutting the celling a wire was accidently cut, which is no big deal it took about 10 minutes to fix it when they finally got to it, but we were left without a light in the kitchen for almost two weeks.
After the work on the kitchen pipes was done and we were told all is good to go we ran the dishwasher. After some time I smelled something burning. I checked the dishwasher and saw that there was no water coming in and it was running on dry. Thankfully I was home and caught it before a it caught fire. Again, the explanation was that there was some debris left unchecked in the pipes that prevented water flow.
Initially when they started drilling nothing got covered for protection. Only after I pointed out the thick layer of dust they threw some plastic on the beds, but by then all the bedding had to be washed and we spent hours wiping the dust, vacuuming and mopping.
When work was done on the toilets on the 3rd floor, the floors, again, were not covered and the pieces of drywall were nor cleaned up after the workers left, which resulted in scratches on the floor from opening the door.
For some reason the water heater on the second floor was disconnected, the copper pipes leading to were cut and taken without our knowledge or permission, leaving us without hot water.
Our pleadings for taking care and respecting our home were ether completely ignored, or rudely answered with: "Don't worry, we'll clean it/fix it latter". There are scratches on the floors, dings on the doors and window sills and trim, scrapes, pint, palm and finger prints everywhere on the walls and celling. On occasion they didn't even bother cleaning up their food leftovers(we try to keep mice away). When they finally put up some plastic to cover the walls it was so sloppy with the wrong tape(white) used, it created more damage. By trying to "fix it" by smearing some paint over it they made it look even worse.
Then there was the issue with the sidewalk in front of the house. They made two large holes, loosely covered them with sand and left like this for weeks. The city inspector came and told us that that's a code violation and they have to be covered with something hard, like a board.
Now Repipe 1 is telling us that the work is complete and demand the final payment. The Senior City plumbing inspector was here yesterday and assured us that there was no final inspection and the job is not completed.
We were very patient and understanding as Ramiro and Carlos gave us explanations for all the problems that came up. We listened to all the excuses and promises as they didn't show up on time, or didn't show up at all, or come unannounced and told us they are about to shut the water off for the day.
This project was to be completed before the end of May 2015, almost a year ago, and the Inspector is telling us that the permit is about to expire. When I call the Repipe 1 I either get a "We'll look into it and call you back" and no call back, or and get yelled at by some guy named Sam.
We are left with unfinished and questionable work, extensive damage to the house and pretty shaken by the whole experience.
Don't do the same mistake we made, hire someone else!

I called the company for a bid.  A time was set (not a range) and Greg was promptly on time.  A very professional explanation of the company and what they recommended.  Lots of informative paper work.  After receiving a couple of other bids that were twice repipe1's bid, I decided to go with repipe1.  A date was set and at 8:00 am sharp the crew arrived.  They did the complete job in seven hours so I had no down time with the plumbing.  When dry wall was cut they would run a vacuum to collect and minimize dust.  The crew was very careful of my furniture and covered everything.  The next day the city inspector came and signed off on the work with a complement about the PEX pipe I had installed instead of copper.  Several days later the dry wall and stucco repair man arrived and did a wonderful job restoring all the penetrations to original condition.  Repipe1 does not do painting so I had to have a painter finish the repair.  He mentioned that all patching had been completed to a very high degree of competence.  If you need your plumbing replaced these guys are the only game in town!!  Use them.

They were supposed to be done with the basics of this job in two days. They didn't complete this aspect of the job for four days. They damaged my home, falling through the ceiling, drilling holes through my major support beams (that had to be replaced), did their work incorrectly and not to code, flunking inspection, and didn't clean up on the job at all. I would consider the work to be defective. The job was supposed to be completed in one week. I fired them after 30 days. They left me without a full working toilet for 20 days. The owner said he wasn't responsible for the damage that the employees did. He later contradicted himself and told me that I had to let him repair the damages. He offered to buy my contract out, but later I found out that would have cost me $18,000. He then charged my credit card $7400 on 5/21/13. He then sued me for $5000 in court, but I didn't find out until later that he had charged my card an additional $900. After trial, and before the judge mailed his verdict, they charged my credit card again, this time in the amount of $8,325. I won a court award for over $9400. They posted my judgment award to my credit card, instead of giving it to me, telling the credit card company it was to validate their charge for $7400 from 5/21/13, then telling the courts they paid me, obtaining satisfaction of judgment I successfully had revoked that I later collected my judgement award through the court. I had to contact the contractor's board judgment unit in order to get my court award. They have now sued me a second time, claiming they have paid me twice, when in fact I received my money the second time in payment, not the first, and I  (and my attorney) believe their suit for the money they paid to the credit card company should be against their credit card company and not me. The owner, Daniel Zilberberg, have nothing but dishonest.

I filed and had investigated my experience through the San Diego Sheriff's Economic Crime Unit. Through public records, any person may obtain a copy of the investigation through the records department. Case # 13138676. Please feel free to contact me regarding my experience at [email protected].

This company really knows what they are doing. they always showed up on time and once on the job didn't stop until it was time for them to leave. I had a few questions, of which, I called the manager and got a very prompt call back. All questions were answered clearly and with NO hassles or additional costs. The new PEX pipe is really awesome. Copper is really outdated and takes allot more work. The Pex pipe has a lifetime warranty and much cheaper than copper.
Only thing is that you better be prepared to see a lot of holes in your walls after the first day. But after they are finished a different crew comes right in and does the patchwork. All drywall and stucco is repaired and ready for painting. They even call the city and get the inspector to come after the holes and new pipe are in place.
All in all I think this company is very professional and very competitive in pricing. I would definitely recommend them to anyone that is looking to repipe their house.

We had had a couple of pinhole leaks from copper pipes in our attic, California water eats the pipes. We chose to replace these hot water pipes and re-plumb the cold ones from the slab before we had new leaks.  I chose Repipe1 for their great reviews on Angie's List, great pricing, and because this was the type of job they specialized in.
They do fantastic work, everything is re-plumbed and working better than ever, they even fitted two new shower valves that they recommended I add. They replaced the pipes back to where they enter the house, and fitted a new pressure valve and outside hose bibs. They are truly expert in what they do, and I would recommend them to anyone. I chose to use PEX piping, and it is working great and Repipe1 guarantees their work.
They quoted $3699 and a week to do the work. There were some mishaps, they were short a plumber on the Monday, and put a foot through the ceiling, but their drywall guy was amazing, it's all back together. You will get 20+ big holes in your walls, but they put everything back together, just leaving you to paint, fine work!
Our only issue, and it would have added $1100 to the $3699 quoted was that they failed to spot that one of our irrigation lines went through the slab, despite me showing them how many lines went into the slab. Their estimator Greg Whitaker was very nice, but not thorough, have him put everything in writing if you get him, he has a selective memory. Fortunately the owner, Jim Michaelson got in touch with me, was very understanding and reduced the extra work to $600. Outstanding customer service.
Go with Repipe1, you won't regret it.

Greg, the project manager was our first contact. He was extremely polite and professional. Was clear and upfront about pricing. I liked their "no hidden charges" policy.
The whole house pex repipe went smoothly and was done in a day. We had our water back that evening. The plumbers were good. Three people were on the job and coordinated the work very well. At my request they covered the wholes with plastic and cleaned up the place well.
The inspector from the city (company took care of the permit and scheduling) was actually very happy with the job and complemented the professionalism of the work. He wanted to come back again to see the stucco patch work.
The patch up of dry wall and stucco went well. The person was professional and had to work over two days. This was a minor inconvenience, but no big deal.
The city inspector signed off on the whole job the very next day and again expressed satisfaction with the overall job.
I would recommend this company, especially for their 'lifetime guarantee' on parts and labor.

This company has been great!!!! I would use them again if need be. We had just purchased a home and had very limited time to repipe our whole house (4b/2b). Each person I spoke with was knowledgeable and helped me right away. The plumbing and drywall looks exactly as it should. The best thing was there was never a change order or any hidden fees that so many other companies are famous for. Thanks Repipe One!!

We purchased a house that had a recent slab leak and although it was repaired, we decided to re-pipe the entire house.  We decided on using PEX because the original copper seems to last only 30 years.   In some parts of the country, copper can last forever, but not in San Diego.   I think the city water will only get  worse (more alkaline) and shorten the life of the copper pipes.  PEX is not metal so it should not deteriorate with the water.   And it's cheaper.
Greg, the salesman; Emilio and Elizandro, the plumbers; Alain and Jesus, the drywall repair/painters; were all punctual, professional and personable.  It was easy to contact them if we had a question or a concern.  The permit and inspections were obtained and performed as promised.  We were pleased with the work they did and would definitely hire them again.

We got three estimates for our house repiping-- this was the lowest estimate, but it did not include painting, and the other two estimates did. The other estimates were around $10,000-11,000. We did some checking beyond Angie's List and couldn't find anything wrong with repipe1, so we went ahead with them. They promised to handle everything except for the painting and we felt that we could do the painting and save money.  Joe, the man who did the estimate, was very professional and had a good presentation put together that answered all my questions. Repipe1 was very good about scheduling us for exactly when we wanted them, and they arrived promptly a bit before 8 the first morning. There were four workers and they worked about 12 hours that day, came back the next morning and had repiping part done by noon. They kept the house clean, and worked hard-- no wasting time. As far as we could tell, they did good work. The holes were tidy, welds looked good. They told me that I'd hear from the company about when the inspectors from the city would come the next day. The next morning, about 8, they called and said the inspector would be there mid-morning. (So, it's important to have someone around who can be flexible about being around to let people in.) The inspector came and found two minor things in the house-- two nail plates had been left off in places where they were needed. But in the garage, it turned out that they had not installed a "cold water bond" which is necessary to ground the pipes when you have metal pipes. That's why they got a B overall above, and for professionalism. I called them about it, and they said that they don't include that-- it's an electrical thing. But, when I signed the contract, I was told that they would do everything necessary to meet code. The city inspectors told me that most repipe companies include the cold water bond in their estimate and take care of the work.  I called an electrician we have used before, and he was willing to come out the next day and do it for us. It only cost $175, but it delayed the project by a day. If they don't want to include this in the price, fine, but they could have told me upfront that they weren't going to do it. Or the plumbers could have told me when they left that it would need to be done.  Repipe1 tried to claim that they didn't know until they opened the wall that we would need one. But the city inspectors said that  it was obvious we would need one because you only need one when you have metal pipes. We didn't have metal pipes before-- which was the whole problem. The day after the cold water bond was installed, the inspector came back, and we passed. The drywallers came and worked for 2 days, twelve hours a day. They did a beautiful job. I appreciated that they worked so long, and got out of our way quicker. We did the painting and while it was a long job, it was worth it to save the money. If you decide to do that, take the sheet rock pieces to the paint store and have them computer match the paint for you if you don't know exactly what the paint was.

Update: Repipe1 called after reading my review and offered to pay part of the cost of the electrician. They explained the original estimator did not know ahead of time that there was no cold water bond. However, the plumbers should have known that and could have mentioned it when they were working on the piping so that I could make arrangements for the cold water bond to be put in, instead of leaving it for the inspector to tell me.

I discovered that the water supply line in the foundation, concrete slab, of my home was broken. Considering the options of jackhammer and repair existing copper pipe supply line or repiping, I decided to repipe. Of four estimates, Repipe was the most reasonable by far. Remembering the old adage, "You get what you pay for" I still went with the low bidder.
A three man team led by a plumber by the name of ED showed up at 0800 on a Tuesday morning and he and his team completed the repipe the same day. Two days later the Santee City Inspector evaluated the job with an "excellent" for performance and code.
A drywaller, Tony, came on Friday at 0900 and worked until 0730 pm, then returned Saturday at 0930 and finished the job at 0730pm. Tony was slow and meticulous but did an outstanding job.
We are very happy with the outcome of the project and would use Repipe 1 again and do recommend them to others.

They did a really good job! They re-piped the home in one day, and once the inspector came out to inspect everything, they came back out to stucco and re-patch. Everything was done within a few days, and went smoothly.

We were told the job would be done in 1 day and it took 1 week.
There was no communication among the plumbers and the texture people.
The texture people, came the 1st day and didn't know what to expect.
There was holes everywhere, and they were shocked to see them.
Response from Repipe 1
"Dear Member, All of us here at REPIPE 1 are very surprised to hear about your dissatisfaction. I feel it necessary, however, to address the items that you have decided to post on Angies List, as we place a very high value on the referrals that we receive from their organization. First of all, I came out to your home personally, as I do with hundreds of customers every month. I tell most everyone the same thing~~ "Your home will probably be repiped in one day, and if it takes a few hours on the 2nd day that you would never be left without water overnight. Inspection will be on the 1st business day after your repipe is done, and patching will begin immediately afterwards." NEVER, EVER have I promised ANYONE that this process, in total, can be completed in one day. If you see our other reviews, you can see that nobody else was under this misconception. I am sorry if you misunderstood, however, I remember speaking to you a few times during your job and you never mentioned this to me, nor voiced any concerns. Secondly, we have a large production office with different people who have different duties. You may remember that you were contacted by some of them when you were notified about when the inspector was coming, or when the patchers were coming, and how you wished to remit payment. These are their jobs and we pay them to orchestrate the process. There is no need for communication between our plumbers and our patchers. I realize that the Captain of your patching crew arrived by himself. It was unfortunate that his other 3 crew members got food poisoning from eating off the same truck the day before. These things happen. However, instead of delaying your patching, we "stood tough" and started the patching of your walls as promised. As far as we know, your piping is working perfectly, your walls have been repaired perfectly, and we thought we had a happy customer. It has been 2 months since your repipe and now we find this review on our page where you are obviously trying to disturb a perfect performance record with Angies List. We have tried to call you today and we have received no response from you. We will keep trying, however, we take this very seriously and will not idly stand by while our good name gets trampled upon. It is always our goal to have our customers satisfied and amazed by our work. I still have hopes that we can come to some kind of an understanding with you, if you choose to return our calls. But again, we are completely shocked by this review that you have posted, and we must contest its authenticity. Sincerely, Jim Michaelson General Manager"
