Solaris was selected by our home warranty company when our home air conditioner went out. Reviews from Yelp, Angie’s List and BBB were all equally poor but I had no say in selecting this company. When they arrived, the worker, who was very pleasant, claimed to have found and fixed the problem within a few minutes. It only worked for about an hour. I called them back on the same day and asked for someone to come out the next day to fix their repair. They were unavailable and showed little interest in trying to correct the problem. I then called the manufacturer who referred me to one of their repair companies. The gentleman came out the next day and diagnosed the correct problem, indicating that the Solaris repair person should’ve known what was wrong, indicating the problem was “air conditioning 101” to find and fix. Very unhappy with Solaris and would not recommend based on my experience.

Solaris came out after a call from our home warranty company. After coming out and examining our downstairs ac unit, they diagnosed the fact that it needed to be replaced. This was on the Wednesday before 4th of July. We asked that they submit ASAP so they could get authorization from the home warranty to replace it as it was JULY and my wife was 8.5 months pregnant. After multiple calls, we learned it was not submitted until the following Wednesday. It took another 1.5 weeks to have it installed by Dustin. Three days later, the upstairs AC unit stopped working. That is when Eric (who we were told was the owner) came out. Upon meeting my wife and before inspecting the unit, he asked where she was from. She said she was Lebanese. He informed her he was Israeli and his demeanor changed immediately (I have a very recognizable Palestinian last name). He proceeded to note that the AC unit was "destroyed by sprinklers" upon a cursory exam. We contacted the home warranty company and informed them of Eric's attitude and demeanor and requested that a different technician come out. A technician came out today and informed us that the unit simply need Freon - the most basic fix for an AC unit. We had to endure an additional week without AC because Eric chose to avoid actually inspecting the upstairs unit and chose to diagnose it without actually diagnosing it. In addition, three days before the new company came out to put Freon in the old unit, the new unit died. Apparently Eric's crew didn't bother to think to change the fuse when installing a unit that was twice the size of the old unit, causing it to blow out. So if you have the unfortunate experience of having Solaris come to your house as a result of your home warranty, I would either request a different company or be ok with having a prejudiced owner who actually doesn't know what he is doing to boot come out to your house. We have filed a complaint with the warranty company and have let them know that Solaris is not authorized to come to our property for any service calls.

I would not recommend them. The serviceman who came out could barely speak English and said the air conditioner needed cleaning before it would work. It turned out it just was not plugged in so it would not work. After he left we kind of figured it out ourselves. The only reason we called them is because we have that home insurance. Their responsiveness was fine although it took them a week to call me back. He was on time.

First American Home Buyers Protection sent Solaris over to us. He diagnosed that our furnace had to be replaced. We got a call the next day to schedule the install of the new unit. We weren't sure how they came up with the value of the amount of work that the home warranty did not cover. We just figured that what we were paying for a new unit was much better than paying for all of it.
Description of Work: First American Home Buyers Protection sent Solaris over to diagnose the issues with our furnace. Diagnosis was to replace the unit. They removed the old unit, put in a filter box, installed the furnace, connected it to the gas line, connected to the exhaust vent, and attached the rest with duct board to existing duct work.

Sorry, but that's how Home Warranty companies work, they don't cover 100% of repairs. This has nothing to do with us. Thank you.

My warranty company referred me to Solaris. After reading past Angie's list reviews I was a bit hesitant, but stuck using them. I thought my trepidation was confirmed when they asked 3 times whether the AC unit is on the roof or the ground. The representative came in the beginning of the 3 hour time slot. He was polite and took the time to show me what needed to be done. He took out the used air filter in the furnace and showed me what has accumulated over time. He got the AC working in no time. We even had a good conversation off topic. I left pleasantly surprised with Solaris.
Description of Work: The AC needed a new part for the compressor as well as more freon.

Description of Work: Alex came out to replace my thermostat. He put in a much cheaper unit than the broken one. He spent a long time in the attic trying to figure out why the new one didn't work. Finally, he got air coming out of the vent when the new thermostat was turned on. Unfortunately, the heat wouldn't come on that night. He came back 3 days later, blamed everything but the thermostat and finally tried to fix some wires in it. Now, it blew warm air. Except, two days later it wouldn't turn on the air conditioner. No way was I having Alex or anyone from Solaris come out again. (They had downgraded the thermostat 3 years earlier but I hadn't checked on values since the guy had installed it properly.) I would never use Solaris again. (My First American warranty didn't care that the guy was incompetent.)

My AC was making a screaching noise on and off and heard water drips. A friend who works for an AC company looked at it for me. He said the coil needed to be replaced because the coil pan is rusted from water leaking. If I left it, it would get into the electricals and cause more problems. Solaris, Aron came within the time frame. However, I was very skeptical due to his age and frail condition. He asked me what the problem was and I responded as per above. He tried to take off the panel from the AC unit, but took a very long time to unscrew and take apart, very very slow. Then he tried to listen to the noise, but just then the waste management was outside and very loud. I thought he would wait until they left, but all he did was took his flashlight and looked inside and said, "okay, see it's dry". He then took a long time to try to put back the panel and screw back in, which he had a hard time with. Then, he brought a tank with air and filled it with air at the opening of the vent and that was it. So I asked him, are you even going to take a look at the coil and coil pan, which is the upper half of the unit? He said, "NO! Why should I look when there is no problem." He told me if the AC leaks or is damaged, insurance covers everything. He then just ignored me and starting writing his paperwork to comment that there was no leak and no noise and the AC is working normal. He looked like someone off the street with a tool box that was out of a garbage can, containing dust and only 5 tools, mostly empty. He seemed like he was too tired and exhasted to do anything or make a proffessional evaluation. If this company is sending technicians out like Aron, I highly recommend that you do NOT use this company for your AC or plumbing. I was so scared that something else is going to go wrong with the AC unit if he touched any of the wiring. I would NEVER use this company if I didn't have to go through the home warranty. I called the home warranty and complained, so hopefully no one else will have to experience what I did.

Very sorry for your bad experience, However Aron has more than 30 years of experience in HVAC field. His tool box is fully equipped with all the tools necessary to challenge any HVAC project. The problem is that Home Warranty company doesn't cover any bad sounds that come from your system. Also screeching noise from condenser outside has nothing to do with the coil that is inside your house being rusted out. We found this complain inaccurate because all you wanted is to take an advantage of your home warranty and replace your a/c. We can not commit an insurance fraud, it's a felony.

Gas furnace stopped working. Solaris was contacted by our home warranty company. After first visit, they needed to order new part("control panel"). After second visit, they needed to return to fix fame sensor. The technician was friendly and helpful. It took two weeks to get the heat working again after initial call-scheduling the first visit and then waiting for the part and scheduling the second visit. The third visit was just to finish the job after the heat started again.
Description of Work: Repaired gas furnace covered under home warranty policy. Replaced control panel and repaired flame sensor.

We felt that the company was extremely overpriced (estimated $785 for repairs, as opposed to our actual cost of $129 from another company) and not at all thorough. The technician missed many contributing factors to our problem, and recommended an expensive and unnecessary part replacement (our evaporator coils were not, in fact, corroded, and did not need to be replaced but simply cleaned, as we had this confirmed by two other AC companies). It also took the company two weeks from the time of our service request to fit us into their schedule.
Description of Work: This provider was sent out by our home warranty company to diagnose a problem with our air conditioner. The technician determined the only problem was that our blower motor and evaporated coils were completely clogged with dirt and had corroded, and needed to be replaced at a cost of $785 which would not be covered by the home warranty (as it was due to neglect, not a malfunction). The technician did not even bother to look at the rest of the system once he had seen the evaporated coils and decided that was the problem. We called another company to get a second opinion, and they were able to repair the air conditioner by adjusting the fan speed, cleaning the drain pipe, adding 3 1/2 pounds of freon, and installing a piece of metal to keep our air filter in place (we had already cleaned off the evaporated coils on our own by that point)--all contributing problems that the original company had not even bothered to check.

Sorry for your bad experience, however home warranty company has it's own way to run business. They will not cover any repairs until your Heating and Air conditioning has been cleaned. We quoted you $785 for replacement, not for cleaning. They want you to clean your equipment and they will continue repairs. Sorry but we can not override your home warranty policy or their decision. Thank you.
