Coastal Tree Care

the only issue i had was that they were supposed to be here in the morning. when i finally got hold of them after leaving several messages, i was told that they would not be there until the afternoon. i said it would have been appropriate to let me know that so that i was not sitting around for hours waiting. i was told that the office person was supposed to have emailed me re: the late arrival. i checked my email and my spam folder and i had received no email. other than that, i was happy.

They were outstanding! When I first purchased my Angies List deal, they initiated contact with me immediately. They came out within a couple of days (working with my schedule) to calculate their estimate and got that to me right away. They were really good about scheduling my work, especially given that I live out in East County. I had several questions for them before they came out and the responses came with courtesy and speed. When I came home today, I was extremely pleased with the work they did. My property is on a steep hill. The tree they needed to crown was on a steep bank and they had to access it from a steep driveway. The limbs were hanging over a thin walled aluminum storage shed and a back yard just planted with baby plants. I couldn't believe they were able to clean up that tree without any damage to anything! I am so pleased with this company! I have spoken to and worked with quite a few other companies and private individuals over the last 15 years and these guys were the best. I highly recommend them, hands down!

The person that came out was very nice and very professional but the cost was going to be over $600.00 which was more than I was expecting to pay so I decided against it.

We bought the $199 for $400 of pruning. I thought this would be a great deal because our regular guy charges us about $400 for 3 or 4 hours. When the one guy came out for the estimate, it seemed steep, but we went ahead anyway. They were here for less than 2 hours. When I mentioned that the olive tree was still rather "full" he told me to go down under the tree and look up where I could see what had been removed from a better point of view. Same with the liquid amber. He pointed out how he had "balanced" the tree, but I still wasn't happy. They were on the move and I felt uncomfortable making any more requests. This experience has made me leery of using Angie's Special Deals, it seems that the service providers jack up prices to make up for my "savings". A deal should save me money. I was very uncomfortable with the entire experience, and admit that I should have been more assertive about getting what we wanted. Lesson learned. Back to our old tree guy.

They did a fine job, cleaned up after themselves, I would definitely recommend them.

He was very nice and professional. He looked at the trees and gave me his best estimate, however, it was just quite a bit higher than what I was expecting to pay.

Was the most professional of all the tree services. sent me an invoice immediately for the services. Followed up with me when I got caught up with other matters. Handled the problem immediately. Extremely satisfied with the result.

I was pleased with the service. They trimmed my valencias. They were very good, they even cleaned up all the waste.

They were punctual for the appointment time. They came prepared with safety gear and work tools and began the work immediately after they spoke with me for confirmation as to what I was expecting from them. I requested fireplace logs if it were possible and they were not sure if large enough pieces would be available. After they left I found where they had cut pieces to size and stacked them neatly in a pile. I really appreciated this extra thing they did for me. The tree was cut back and was beautifully and very professionally laced. Cleanup was not as thorough as I would have liked, but it was OK. I am very satisfied with their work and I would call for their services again as well as recommend Coastal tree Care to others.

The work was okay. For $200 I didn't get as much value as I anticipated. I feel like they embellished their prices because of the coupon.

They were fine! I think they sent out 2-3 people for the job.

They were very responsive. They contacted me within a week of purchasing the deal and came right out. When they came out, I gave them a scope of the job and they gave me a price which was beyond $199. I told them I only wanted to spend $199. When I told him that, he wanted to change the prices on the deal. They were fine, but they wanted to sell more services than the deal and I just wanted to spend $199. It didn?t turn out well and I requested a refund. It worked out though because they didn?t perform any services and refunded me. I DO NOT wish to receive ANY further correspondence from this company.

They did a fine job! The guys were clean and picked up after themselves. They lived up to deal requirements. I asked them to leave the materials and the obliged. They were very helpful. They even dropped off some of their mulch for me.

The job was scheduled for a Thursday but due to high winds the company contacted us to reschedule for Saturday. They showed up and completed the job in one day and during the process made efforts to keep falling branches from damaging other plants and landscaping. They did a good job and we will use them again in the future.

Everything went really well. They were professional and knowledgeable. The work was delayed due to vehicle problems, but that wasn’t a issue for me and they called to apologize and reschedule. There were additional fees because I had so much work for them to do. Joseph was very easy to talk to.

Wonderful job. The tree looks MUCH better than before, and has very natural shape. Ground clearance is now more than adequate. Excellent workmanship. Lots of pine needles left on top of nearby plants and grass, but that'll be an easy cleanup (by me). Otherwise, cleanup was good. Expensive. Pricing, I was told initially, was based on an estimated 3-hour, largely manually-intensive job. The job was in fact manually intensive, but it took only two hours to complete, including cleanup. After the proposal was provided and agreed to, I was told that the price was based on the job and not on the amount of time it would take. Hmmm. Cost of service in this review was after a 10% Angie's List discount. Some difficulties interacting with the office and making contact. Usually just voicemail. Some punctuality issues, too. Estimator (Joseph) was late for our initial appointment. Also, I was given a one hour time window for the work to start on the scheduled day, but I had to call to get that to happen. (It did, just in time, but Joseph told me when he returned my voicemail message that the crew might arrive as much as an hour later than the end of the time window.) Also, I left a check with the arborist, but still received an invoice showing a balance due (by email) shortly after work was completed. A minor cross-thread that I'm sure will be resolved quickly. Otherwise, no quibbles. A truly professional job. I'll have them out again when the tree needs a minor "tuneup" in a couple of years. Update: After many days, I requested an invoice showing zero balance due. I got a pdf showing "paid" by email, which was fine. But then a few days later I got an invoice for the total amount, reminding me to pay. I wrote back giving details of my payment. I got a "sorry about that" response. Very unprofessional on the business side, and I've lowered my ratings because of that. I've now decided I won't give this company my return service. Another Update: I also should mention that it took me over an hour to rake pine needles off of my lawn, and clean them off of surrounding bushes and brickwork, the day after the Coastal Tree Care people did their work. I filled an entire 55 gal trash can with these pine needles. If the two-man crew that came out had spent half that much time to clean up after themselves, the $600 price (before Angies List discount) might have been a little less painful. This was a $400 job, not a $600 job (pre-discount). I've downrated "quality" to "C" because of the poor job of cleanup.

It was really good! They cleaned up really well and I was real satisfied. I got other quotes and they were considerably lower.

Coastal Tree Care arrived punctually on the day we scheduled them. They walked through the procedure for how they would remove the tree always focusing on safety. During the process not as much as one branch contacted our roof. They methodically removed the tree piece by piece. They were always safety focused and did such a great job our entire neighborhood was impressed at the speed and professionalism that this was executed, never losing focus on maintaining the highest safety standards. After only 2 days the trees have all been removed, the stumps have all been ground down to the roots and have been covered to prevent re growth. All of the byproduct from removal was carted away and the outside looks fantastic. We would strongly recommend Coastal Tree Care for any tree care needs!

I contacted them and they originally they said they could do the work, but then later on they found out where we lived and they said they don't service our area.

When they arrived, they greeted me with "We can't stay here for $99." They said it wasn't worth their men's time staying for $99. I paid additionally for them to stay, but I wasn't happy. It was very unprofessional.

Did not get a call or email from the company.

Don't know what happened to the first review I submitted but here is the second. They completed a lot of work for a lot less than other bids I had received. The workers were polite and completed the work in a neat and timely manner. They went above and beyond the scope of work originally planned. I would use them again.

It was a Big Deal purchase. It went wonderful. They were just nice. They came out a month after the purchase; they were very busy. It was $199 but overall, it was much higher; I think it was $600. They cleaned up very good, took everything out to the front and ground it up and hauled it away.
