Coastal Tree Care

I need to get two palm trees removed from my front yard because the roots were causing damage. One of them was also the kind that drops hard little balls on the ground which are a nuisance. They sent a certified arborist out to estimate the costs. I didn't even know at the time what a certified arborist is, but I found out later it is a highly qualified professional certification for people who take care of trees. He said that they would take out the two palm trees, then he quoted me tree trimming for some very over-grown trees on my back bank. They literally hadn't been trimmed in ten years and were hard to get to and unruly. I didn't even know what kind of trees they were. It took four people most of a day to do the work. The tree trimming was less expensive than I thought because the dead branches and leaves were mulched. It turns out that palm trees can't be mulched, they have to be hauled off. I was very pleased with the service and would use them again.

My main concern was that when I was given the estimate cost for the job I was quoted $525.00 because 3 to 4 men would be needed on this job and he was including the hourly rate for them. When the men appeared to do the job, there was two men from start to finish. When I called the office to inquire about this overcharge, it was explained that they had a different way of calculating their charges that was too difficult to explain and that customers were complaining so possibly they would no longer participate in any other Angieslist promotions. When I requested to speak to the owner, the lady explained he was on vacation and would return in a month or so. I requested she leave a message for him regarding my concerns and to also include that I was not attempting to not pay what I owed, but would like an explanation as to why I would be charged for wages of men who did not work on this job. The owner called me about 2 weeks later and agreed that he had indeed told me that he had charged me for men that did not work this job and reduced my charges from $525.00 to $425.00. He apologized. The bill has now been paid.

It didn't turn out well. They weren't done properly. I had to have them come back and trim a pomegranate tree. The citrus trees weren't done properly. They trimmed them from the bottom up which you aren't supposed to do. They were very nice and cleaned up after themselves.

They had a large job to do, and they accomplished it in good time. My only complaint was the attention to detail. The palm usually is gets trimmed to one or two fronds. There are 5 still up there. I hate to be picky, but some of the shrubs had long spots in hard to get at places for me and I am still finding dead branches in and around the shrubs.

I felt that the ad was deceptive, that it should have read that it was credit towards a much more expensive job. I just had one tree to trim and I ended up paying hundreds of dollars more to have that done. They did their job just fine, but the company prices and the advertising were not great. There was one arborist there and two other laborers for about three hours. It was a bad experience that had nothing to do with the people that were here, but more to do with the company and what they charge. The crew showed up on time and were professional, but the boss showed up two hours late for the estimate without a call.

I requested several dates, but they put they put me on a date I did not choose and said I did not need to be there. The person who came out prior to the actual work date said they would haul away the branches. They day the work was done was the same day I had my carpets cleaned and left my windows open for it to dry. The tree crew ground up the branches right in front of the open windows when they could have put their grinding truck in another location, even more accessible and not in front of wide open windows. The person who arranged the appointment should have known about the grinding and warned me to keep my windows shut and the actual crew should be aware of the flying dust they make when they grind. It turned out OK, but I might have had a real mess on my hands if the carpets were not already pretty dry. They crew did do a good job of making sure my tree was cleaned out and my house safe from falling branches.

They did a very professional job; they were quick, thorough, clean and friendly. They had all the right tools and they cleaned up after they were done.

From the bidding process to the completion of the work, these guys were punctual and professional. I had three bids and their's was in the middle. Their work was excellent. I have had many services completed by other tree companies and have never experienced such a professionally, clean and responsive experience. They, not only removed the tree and all its branches but all the debris associated with it. The yuccas have never been cleaned up so well and the guys were extremely careful around my pool and back yard fixtures. The tree that was removed hung over a neighbor's boat and they ensured that all the sawdust, etc., was cleaned from there as well. When they left, the place was respectfully cleaned up. I was very impressed and would highly recommend this company.

It went very well. They were very responsive to my requests. They were very patient and did a good job of cleaning up. They also gave me advice on some other jobs.

All went well. They arrived on time and removed the tree without incident. They cleaned the street and sidewalk too. They even left the wood with a FREE sign for anyone and if no one took the wood, we just need to call then and they would return and remove it as part of our job.

I find out from Joseph Eves that the $199 was for only ONE HOUR using four men. He looked at the 20 feet of bushes that needed to be then looks down at his phone. He then says this job will cost $900 but ll take $300 off so it will only be $600. Of course this is in addition to the $199 I already paid. I told him that my two gardeners finished this job in only 1.5 hours this winter for $200. He said "I cannot compete with your gardeners" and goes on to explain his overhead, truck, men, etc. I told him thanks and asked for a refund from Angies List. I'll get my gardeners to do it for a third of this company's price.

I purchased a deal for 4 hours of labor. I had several small tree stumps to grind, but 8 in particular that needed to come out to permit further work in the yard. Prior to service, I talked with the rep on the phone and he expressed doubt that they could grind all 8 stumps in the time allotted in the deal. We agreed that he'd come take a look, provide an estimate, and we'd go from there. After seeing the stumps, the estimate stated they could remove all eight in four hours. A single person came with a stump grinder and completed the work in under 2 hours. I had paid for 4 hours labor, so had him do a few other things, but unfortunately the other tree work I needed done wasn't accessible without a little lead time. Bottom line is that I got about 2.5 hours of work. I got the critical work done, but was disappointed that the estimate was inaccurate as I could have planned for more work and received the full value of the deal I purchased. The person who performed the work was polite, a hard worker, and cleaned up the site when he finished (though there was a bit of a language barrier - I wanted one of the stumps ground a bit deeper and he said he couldn't do it, but we weren't able to discuss any reasons or options beyond that). The price was fair (thus the C) for what I got. It would have been a A if I'd been able to take advantage of the whole deal.

I don?t write many reviews, but had to give a big thanks to Coastal Tree Care. Came out and gave me an estimate (very knowledgeable) for removing a tree. The tree was in a bad location and potential removal could cause damage. They did a very professional job, on time, on estimate. No damage ground the stump down well. Easily five star service!

They didn't show up for their first appointment then they came to the second and when they finally showed for the second time, they did pretty quick work, but they did damage a little section of my fence while doing that. Other than that, they made quick work of it and all was good. They were very well priced.

Guy was a certified Arborist and had 15 years of experience. The results were amazing.

It was good. I got an additional service from them. It went more. I paid $200 more. They just did a good job. They were punctual and professional. They cleaned up.

I have absolutely no complaints at all. They're A+. The price was good because it was a promotion from Angie's List. I chose them because of the price.

It went fairly well. We chose to raise the crown, and we gave directions to raise the crown, and he didn't do that.

They did a great job. I had more extensive work done than the initial package was but they deleted that from the balance. They worked their butts off. They were there for about 6 and a half hours. They did an amazing job and they located some more appropriate plants that I had. They did a beautiful job. They were concerned they might harm some of the sprinklers and they didn't break anything. They cleaned up after themselves. They were polite. They were prompt.

I called the provider and told them that tree roots that broken our water main to the irrigation system. I explained that the tree was in the back yard and that the landscaping crew had dug around the tree trying to replace the irrigation pipe and that the tree was basically in a hole with lots of dirt removed. It was clear to anyone which tree needed to be removed. You could see the exposed irrigation pipes in the hole. This information was never provided to the provider's crew when they came out. In fact, the provider told me that he neglected to provide this information to his crew. However, when the crew came out, they asked my wife what tree needed to be removed. That information had been provided by me to the provider. The provider had my information. My wife had never spoken with the provider nor was she aware what tree needed to be removed. She did volunteer that a neighbor complained that one of our trees needed to be trimmed as it was blocking one of his windows. That tree was, however, cut down, not trimmed. At the time, the crew also trimmed the tree that was supposed to be removed. The order was to remove the tree that had broken the water main and that tree was trimmed and as such the water main couldn't be repaired. I had only told the provider that one tree needed to be removed and, in spite of that, two trees were worked on. They apologized for cutting down the wrong tree and indicated that the provider's notes were not provided to the crew. As my landscaping had not been watered for a couple of weeks, the provider came back and removed the correct tree. The invoice I received was for cutting down the wrong tree. I asked how they were going to reimburse me for the tree that was removed in error and I was told that there was miscommunication and that they did the best they could. I understand that services were provided that I am responsible for the cutting down of the correct tree. The fact that the provider did not communicate with his crew which tree was to be removed totally surprised me.

Purchased an Big Deal. $250 for $400 worth of service. Coastal gave an estimate of work I desired. Not all of the work could be covered within the allotted $400 and I didn't have any addition budget. So, I did have to settle for not getting everything I needed done. However, the work was excellent and completed timely. One palm tree frond was cut but not completely. A few days later it detached more. After a call to Coastal, they returned and finished the cut. It was about 2 weeks later, since they had to be back in the area. That was okay, as they did return without a further call. They met their commitment.

Repeated attempts to set appointment did not result in an appointment. Believe provider was overloaded with business from reduced price offer. Did project myself. Angieslist review page requires a letter grade for rating service providers. I did not want to unfairly grade them; hence, I stated "A" for Overall rating. Since N/A is shown for all ratings, Overall should have an N/A as well...in my opinion.
