The workers that came out were very hard working. It did not take them that long. I thought that there was a couple of things that were not done as well. It did not get done the way I wanted. There was no plan done for the job. He did give me a discount. I would use them again.

Whenever a service comes to your house without your previous history nor a neighbors, you wonder how it will turn out. Without hesitation, it turned out well - very well. Our tree trimmer is a certified arborist and corrected what the previous 'expert' did not. The looks balanced and healthy. But it wasn't without serious work creating a serious debree pile. Since the tree was located in a tight rear yard, keeping the de-supply chain moving was a constant effort. No issues there. Both individuals were curtious and professional making sure the flora below was not harmed by falling branches. Now I have a history willing to share with other neighbors. Thank you

The service provider cannot provide the service until mid-April and that's too long for us to wait. We have a downed tree and it's resting on our neighbors fence. They probably should not offer a "Big Deal" if they don't have the capacity to provide a little more timely service.

Great! Very professional from the estimator to the actual work. They showed up according to schedule and I didn't need to be there. Shaped the base of my date palm into a nice pineapple shape and cleaned up and hauled away every scrap of waste. I wouldn't say it was cheap, but understand that date palms can be very difficult to handle and dispose of (which I experienced the one time I tried to do it myself and it took several months and many injuries from the sharp needles to dispose of the waste via weekly city pickups), not to mention that mine was very overgrown. In addition, I have one very tall palm tree that definitely requires a lift or climbing gear. But it was reasonable considering, plus I had an Angie's List coupon. Overall good experience and would use them again.

Had 2 trees trimmed and 2 removed ? all very large trees in East County. The 3-man team showed up on time and worked hard and efficiently after we did a quick review with Joseph, the owner. 2 worked on trees while one grabbed the large branches, cut firewood, and mulched (a lot of mulch was left per my request). The Removals were performed in a safe manner and done well ? a 30-foot Eucalyptus with 2 main branches and an unusually large 35-foot Japanese Black Pine nearing the house. Trims: An Italian Stone Pine (40+ ft) and Lemonade Berry Tree (25-30 ft). Although the trims were well shaped and balanced they were heavily trimmed and thinned rather than lightly as I wanted. I?m reserving judgment on the Lemonade Berry tree since it had never been professionally trimmed and had a lot of leafy branches touching the ground and dead undergrowth. Since LBs grow quickly, hopefully within a year it will be green and lush again rather than a bunch of ugly black trunks with a green crown. The sparseness will take a heavy toll during the long hot summer on the ground cover below important to protecting a steep bank. I?ve had the Italian Stone Pine professionally trimmed a few times but couldn?t afford to do it more often so some large branches were drooping from weight and pressing down others. Although the trim was good as far as balance the tree is quite bare and I may end up taking it down and starting over as I like pines to be full and lush, and need the sun protection. A broken sprinkler head was promptly repaired at my request. Because of my tight budget Joseph bid the project at $1,400 after a good discount. The team worked 7 or 8 hours (could have avoided an hour or 2 with less trimming). They were professional, polite, and did a good job cleaning up after stacking a lot of firewood and mulching. Update: Although the areas around the 2 trees removed were well cleaned up, I later discovered the areas around the trimmed trees weren't well done (they're down some banks and cover large areas which I didn't inspect as I should have because I could see how tired the guys were as was I since I had been working in the yard most of the day too, and assumed the cleanup was like the two on the other side of my house, and I was focused on checking my sprinkler system). My wooden steps were left completely buried in debris and there was a lot of debris left below the trees and where cutting up had been done. I have spent numerous hours hauling small branches up to dispose of (six huge 96-gallon cans) and stacking wood. I will also need to move the wood they did stack which is 25 feet from where I pointed out where I keep my stacked wood. Found 4 to 8 ft long branches left below one tree on an embankment and more in a pile which I will have to cut up myself. Also have discovered damage to some small trees so I am less impressed with Coastal and now understand why the guys seemed surprised when I tipped them. At this point would not hire them again for a yard like mine (not level and in East County where sun and wind are factors).

The Mulberry tree was quite overgrown. Two workers came out. One climbed the tree, with rope and saw. I was glad to see him wearing a helmet and using a safety line. He worked deftly, to take out all the excess growth, leaving the tree so much more open and airy. He was careful to keep the branches in my yard and cutting in sections to avoid damaged to the plants underneath. The second worker was there to cut up the discarded branches and haul them out and loaded into their truck. Once the Mulberry was done, he shaped the Honeysuckle, to bring it down in size to not be fighting the Mulberry. For the root pruning, they used a trencher to dig a trench across the yard along the back of the house, severing all intrusive roots. The larger roots, they cut a section out of, to stop the advancement. I was advised to leave the trench open for a while to allow the exposed roots to dry out and not regenerate. They cleaned up all the branches and debris, and blew off the patio and sidewalk. It looks so much better. The tree was hanging much too low into my neighbors yard and they took care of that. I am very pleased with the work. I would definitely recommend this company.

I read possible to give benefit of the doubt to all parties the advertisement done regarding big deal, I thought the pruning of the tree was to be $ 199.00. Then when estimate was done the price increased. Later I found a better deal.

Results were exactly as I wanted. Cleanup was excellent and the surrounding landscape was virtually unscathed. Price was commensurate with other arborists.

He came out and did an evaluation. He is super nice and ready to help. I am looking to working with him.

Not well - I now have to have Angie's refund my monies. Second time this has happend in the past 6 months. Why does Angies allow companies to advertise services in my area that they will not perform???

The crew showed up exactly as scheduled. We couldn't be home, so I asked that they please be careful of the neighbors trees that are right up against the other side of the cypress trees. They did a great job and did exactly what we agreed upon. They made sure our neighbors side was clean as well. Thanks to Joe and the crew.

I thought the crew did a good job. Trees are cleaned up and nicely shaped, not hacked off like other tree trimmers have done. I paid for a deal for $200 for a $400 job, plus $100 more since the Joseph said it was a $500 job. Price seemed high, but happy with results.

They did a magnificent job and were very professional. I will refer them to my friends and neighbors.

Joseph said that they would do the work on Monday and that they would not use a large piece of equipment because of the possibility of damage to my property. He did not tell me that he had decided to subcontract the work, that he was not going to have anyone supervising the job and that the subcontractor had decided to use the large piece of equipment. They broke a tile in my stair, did not replace the gate they had taken down, broke three sprinklers, scraped one side of my entry way, spilled oil, did not clean up after grinding the root of the ficus tree and provided a horrible trim to the other three ficus trees.I gave them a "c" only because of the willingness from Joseph to accept responsibility and willing to provide a 200 credit towards the damages. I had other trees to remove in my property and hired Ted The Arborist and the quality of his work was unbelievable. What a day and night comparison with Coastal. I will use Ted for any future work on my trees.

Owner was prompt for the pre-work estimate. I used a "deal" to buy services. The estimate added $150 to the overall bill. I agreed to it and scheduled the work. Owner was willing to work on a Saturday -- a real plus for me as I have dogs to manage and work. Owner's staff of two were punctual and got right to work. I had to leave for two hours. They were gone by the time I returned. Generally speaking, they did what I asked for but I had expected a bit more trimming back of the two mature trees. I admit that I didn't inquire deeply into the extent of pruning when the owner was developing the estimate, nor am I really aware of the extent to which a tree should be pruned. But overall $550 seems a lot for the amount of work performed by two people in approximately 2 - 3 hours. Staff did have a large truck for removal of debris and managed to remove most, but not all of it. Leaving debris behind indicated they were in a bit of a hurry. And again -- my fault for not sticking around to observe the work. All were very professional and polite. If I was more experienced with the costs of these kinds of services, and knew the price to be fair, I would rate them a bit higher. As noted above, I would hire them again.
