This was the second time ASI Hastings performed scheduled maintenance on our two furnaces. The first time, about 6 months ago was uneventful. This time there were two problems. After the technician left, I discovered that one of the furnaces would not operate. An error message (-AC) was displayed on the thermostat. After some effort (climbing into the attic, comparing the wiring on the two furnaces) I determined that one of the thermostat wires was disconnected. In addition I found that the cover panels on the other furnace had not been installed correctly. They literally fell off when I touched them. I corrected these problems myself, then contacted ASI Hastings and spoke with Jennifer Crain, who was most apologetic, and refunded our money. For now, I will continue to use ASI Hastings. They are scheduled to return for another maintenance in May. I think, based on other's experience with them as documented on this website, that they are a good company, and am hoping this is a one time experience.

The estimator and installation team were all very professional and prompt. The complex installation in my 1905 Craftsman went very smoothly. I will use them for all my rental properties.

They initially installed the system. After they had already removed the old system and installed the new system they informed me they had missmeasured the intake vents and they would not be able to use standard size vent covers/ filter holders. They would have to special order the vent covers furthermore the new filters would have to be special ordered every time they needed to be replaced. I talked to the lady at the office and told her I was disappointed that I would have to have special order filters, that it would take 6 weeks to get the vent covers, and that they waited until after they installed the system until they even told me there was a problem. She called me the next day and said it would only take 2 weeks not 6. Then when they came back 2 weeks later to install the vent covers, my daughter was at the house to allow them access to do the work. She called me at work and told me they had measured again and could not install the vent covers/filter holders and that they had slid the filter onto the floor of the cabinet and secured it with a bent piece of sheet metal screwed to the plywood and that I would have to remove the screw and sheet metal every time I replaced the filter. Also they reinstalled the old vent covers which were 40 years old although we had paid for replacement vent covers. When I got home I inspected their work and it was of very poor quality.I was highly upset when I called the office. I told the lady that I was about ready to have them remove the system and I would get someone who knew what they were doing to install a new system. She assured me they would have their lead installer come out and assess the situation. I told her "Now I have to take off work again." She said that she would call me back as soon as the lead installer assessed the situation and that she would ensure that we received something such as a few free maintenance calls, to make up for all the days of work I had to take off due to their errors When the lead installer came out he looked at the work they had done and agreed that it never should have been done like that. He remeasured everything and told me they had enough room to put a filter adapter underneath the unit. That they would have to remove the unit in order to accomplish that and that they would do it at their own cost, but one of the vent covers still could not be replaced without trimming the baseboard moulding. I told him not to trim the moulding because it would look like h***. So, in about a week they came out and removed the system, put the adapter in, and I was finally happy with the installation of the system, however they still never replaced the one vent cover. It looks like h*** because it is 40 years older that all the rest of them and does not even look like the same color. After they left, I have never heard a word from ASI again. No followup to see if I was satisfied, no phone calls, and no offer of free maintenance as they promised. They never installed the new grill because they could not find one, They charged me for it I realize things can go bad and people make mistakes however I feel they should have made the mistake right and I don't think they did. I never got the vent cover but I am tired of fighting with them. May 2011 They have NEVER brought the vent that they did not install. They have never resolved the problem nor returned the money for the vent (cost was itemized) that they never brought us.

It was very costly but that would have happened with anyone. They were incredibly good; they were neat, quiet, and they did it as soon as they could even though we were in the middle of a heat spell and everyone wanted them. They did it in two days and re-ducted it and everything.

I thought they were extremely thorough. I've had AC maintenance before and no one every mentioned any of the issues my system had, even ones that had existed from day one due to installation inadequacies. I must confess there was a little part of me that wondered if perhaps they found all these problems to rake in a nice big repair bill but deep down I know my AC wasn't working all that well.

I now know a lot more about heat and a/c than I wanted to know

I have a shop at Seaport Village and working air conditioning is essential. We had a service contract with another company and when things quit working we called them. They showed up and admitted to not having made the scheduled service inspections ( someone got sick and the schedule was disrupted, etc.) and proceeded to check the system and give an estimate of 776.00 to replace the condenser fan motor (running hot), replace the run capacitor, and replace the condensor fan blade (?). I didn't appreciate the fact they had forgotten about the service contract for 5 months ( they didn't forget to bill us ) and the estimate seemed high, so I found ASI Hastings on Angies list and gave them a call. ASI set up an appointment for a free diagnosis ( coupon from Angies List ) showed up right on time, gave an estimate of 652.00 and did the work. The technician showed me how the fan motor had filled with water because a drain plug on the motor had not been removed when the fan was replaced previously. ASI Hastings provided prompt, professional service and it was a pleasure to do business with them.

They arrived on time and completed the project on my schedule. I asked them to route the plumbing inside a wall instead of on the exterior, which they did without a problem. I also asked the salesman what I could do to reduce my cost. Since I did other wiring on my house he directed me to that, which saved me a few hundred dollars. The initial salesman also offered a range of options to reach my goal of an efficient system to add comfort into my home. Additionally, they offered a range of financing options. My project manager on site, Art, helped manage a great team. Thanks ASI!

The heat was not working in a rental unit. The technician was on-time but he apparently called the wrong number to give me the report. He left before I had a chance to talk with him, so I called the main office, was on hold for an extended time, then when the customer service agent was about to update me on the repair needed, we were disconnected. I called back, was on hold for 15 minutes. Tried a third time and got voice mail, left a message with my number and 5 days later still no call back. I called the office again and after another long hold time (approximately 15 minutes), the representative pulled the report and it said they needed 2-4 hours and a 2 man team to access the unit on the roof. What is mystifying to me is why they need that much time and two people? That unit has been service before by a single technician who diagnosed and serviced the unit in under 2 hours from start to finish. The lack of communication is unacceptable and the repeat visit advice doesn't make sense. And the hold times are interminable. I will not be using them going forward.

The experience was very positive. The estimator, Tom Chase, was most helpful and responsive. We compared ASI with 2 other companies, and found ASI to offer the most competitive price for what we wanted. They initially cleaned our air ducts, then they replaced a 20-year old furnace, with a New York, variable speed furnace, new register covers, thermostat, and a high quality air cleaner that attach's to the furnace, including an ultraviolet light for more powerful cleaning. Pasqual and the other installers, were great -- friendly, efficient, competent, and it was obvious that they wanted us to be happy. We would highly recommend this company.

A technician was called because my heater wasn't working. He did an inspection, free with Angie's List coupon. He found a cracked heat exchanger. He knew nothing about new heaters and this required a second appointment with a salesman. Anthony was thorough with his information and recommendations. He gave us a several choices to choose from. They came with the new unit, and the two workers took about 4 hours to replace the unit. They also replaced all of the old insulation on the vent pipe.I now have a beautiful furnace! They were extremely neat, vacuuming the garage after. They left it neater than when they came.

They were punctual and answered all our questions. Made good recommendations. Were able to schedule the work at short notice and did a great install in about 6 hours. I highly recommend them.

Estimator was nice, but did not explain options for a better quality system with 10 year warranty. Gave estimate for an entry level unit with a 5 year warranty at $3247. I wanted a better warranty and was willing to spend more.

The technician was on time, and helpful. As well as repairing the problem, he also noted some other issues with our venting system that will need to be repaired at some point. Also, I appreciated the early morning time slots available (7am).

The estimate was over $2,000 less than Mary Anderson plus the the AC units were better quality from ASI. The team was very professional, except one of the installers was smoking and the smoke came in through our window and our house smelled like smoke. After a few weeks one of the units stopped working. ASI had a tech out the next morning and he fixed the issue. There was a lose wire in the breaker.

We have already used them again for semi-annual maintenance.

They did an outstanding job. The young technician had a very careful checklist that he went over. He did everything including cleaning our filter. He added a little Freon to the filter.

I was very impressed with the service technician. He identified problems (for example, there was too much coolant in the system) and fixed them. I was very glad I contacted ASI.

After receiving three estimates, we chose ASI due to professionalism and detailed inspection and estimate. Their price is in line with other companies of their caliber. We had new furnace, electronic filter, A/C and vents installed (complete replacement and overhaul of of HVAC) as well as replacing ductwork in attic. Salesperson, crew & people on the phone were all very prompt, professional, and cared about customer satisfaction. They were great about cleaning up after themselves and training us on the new equipment.

They showed up on time. They did not try to sell me anything else. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and did it. They did a nice, professional job.

I'm holding off on the project at this time. But they were very professional and helpful. I plan on using them when the time comes for me to have this work done.

It went fine. They weren't really good about scheduling the appointment but when they did finally come out they were really good. The gentlemen that came out was very pleasant and nice. Also they arrived on time and I haven't had any problems with my AC unit.

I had no complaints about ASI. They were professional and took the time to educate us on air conditioning systems and maintenance. I appreciate the time they took to do that. The work was done in one day and they followed up with a phone call a week later to make sure the system was working properly. Eric (the salesperson) was very frank and said, "You can find a cheaper product than what I'm offering, but we guarantee a customer service relationship with ASI and will be here whenever you need us." He's worked at ASI for 20 years so they must be doing something right. I would recommend them to a friend or family member and was very satisfied with their work.
