The only things that Eric Cornick, at Freestyle Hardwood Floors, freestyles are your schedule and your wallet. So, sure we would recommend Freestyle Hardwood Floors, but only if you don't like your significant other and need something to be the "straw that broke the camel's back." Because Eric can easily be that straw. We hired Eric (owner of Freestyle Hardwood Floors) to install laminate in our new home. This was a BIG purchase for us - a huge investment. We needed someone to do the job quick - about a month - so we wouldn't have to pay double rent and mortgage and the option of going with one of the Big Box stores and getting an installation deal or hiring an independent contractor to do the work. We figured a contractor would do a better job, be more skilled so we took a chance based on a recommendation from a trusted Realtor at Lyon (who has, after our experience removed Freestyle from their referral list). Oops. * The project took *months* to complete due to delays from Eric ordering the wrong laminate for us, delays in demolition, ordering insufficient transition pieces, Eric's priority with scheduling other clients. Because we just bought the house and were having the floor installed first before we could move in, Eric's delays and short cuts had us panicking. He finished most of the work at the last possible minute and in the meantime we were making contingency plans for where we and our dogs might stay because the house was an unsafe construction zone literally until the last two days. Even so, we were still left for months with incomplete installation in certain places (scheduling him to finish was a nightmare). * Our floors look horrible from his shoddy workmanship. Eric left spaces between the boards such that there are gaps in the floor in places impossible to close; he left gaps between the floor and the baseshoe leaving little holes that we cannot fill. Between the tile and flooring in our entry way he installed a transition piece that was too small and told us to just fill it with caulking (it looked soooo bad). He cut the baseshoe at different angles and left gaps between it and the molding (we actually are scraping everything he did with this and just counting it as money down the drain). He left dings in the floors and around our house in walls as well. * He was never on time, and sometimes cancelled at the last minute. He would not work late nights (like past 5:30 pm) to get the job done. Though we began the project in October, the floors were just finished the second week in January. And Eric didn't even show up to do the work himself. Most of the time he had his brother and sometimes one other person do most the work and only was on our site about 25% of the project. * He left a mess in our home and never cleaned the floors when he left. He left mounds of sawdust on our back porch. Without asking our permission, he also used our driveway to pile up materials from another worksite leaving this mess in our front yard for two weeks. Our new neighbors really loved this. * Oh, he told us about the *specters* in our home and the ghost that he kept seeing walk around. Because he seemed so freaked out about it and I was so stressed from the delays, this had me scared to live in my own home for weeks (even though I don't believe in those things)! Though all of this may sound extreme, we feel compelled to share our experience. As we live with Eric?s mistakes and poor workmanship (and cry a little over how much we paid him to do such a bad job), being truthful about it with others is the only recourse we have.
Description of Work: Demolition of particle board (that was installed underneath carpet) and installation of laminate flooring and baseshoe.
