overall, went well, but we had to have them come in a second time and spent a lot more than what we thought after the initial quote.

The tech was prompt and quickly diagnosed the warming problem. However, the repair he did to the icemaker required a call back, and it is still not fixed.
Description of Work: Our Zeb Zero was running warmer than normal. Also, the ice maker was not working properly.

Sub-Zero was 12 years old and wanted to keep it going. Not sure what to do so called for annual service. The service guy was pleasant, but basically he vacuumed the cooling compartment on the top where the refrigeration equipment was located. Nothing else was done; no refrigerant was added; fan motors were not serviced. After that, I just vacuumed the compartment myself and saved the $125 housecall.

It is not their fault that they have to keep coming out because it I a flaw in the freezer. The thing that is nice about them is that they keep coaching us on how to fix it ourselves and this time the guy had me stand right there and watch how he was doing everything. I thought that was really sweet and the last time he told me that after he left he wanted me to have my husband drill some holes on each side of the ice bucket to help the ice from melting through. That helped for a long time, but then it turned out since there is only the two of us and we don?t go through the ice enough, this time he told me to have my husband drill some holes in the bottom of the ice bucket, so that will help the ice freeze even more. You don?t have repair men telling you cheaters tricks like that to save you money, and I thought that was really nice. They are just terrific and not what we expected.
Description of Work: We used Tom’s Appliance semi-regularly to fix our sub zero ice-maker. The last time we used them was 3 weeks ago.

Our ice-maker imploded on itself or something. It ended up having a problem that he had never seen before, and which totally surprised him, but he stayed here and fixed it. He dug out manuals and dug through and figured out how to fix it and fixed it. He worked really hard. The price was good too.

They are one of the few authorized Sub-zero service reps. They charge $135 just to come out an look at the problem. This amount also applies to the first 1/2 hour of labor. Then $150.00 per hour after that. Representative was punctual and courteous, but was unable to diagnose or repair anything. He did not seem overly knowledgeable. He called the factory (for me) and said they would contact me directly. Still charged me $135 for a quick look and telling me he couldn't do anything. I would only use them if your problem seems to be simple (failed motor, poor door seal, dead light, etc.) and do not recommend them for more complex things.
Description of Work: Needed to repair a 10 year old Sub-zero refrigerator that was leaking water at normal thermostat setting (did not leak when freezer thermostat set very low). Leak did not appear to come from any hose or pipe.
