This is hands-down the worst company I have ever encountered. In fact, my awful experience with them is what prompted me to join Angie's List in the first place just so I could warn others of this company. The sales rep who initially installed my alarm and sensors was very nice. However, soon after that I had an issue with the sensors (my small dogs were activating them even though the installer assured me that wouldn't happen). The person who was scheduled to fix this didn't show up for the appointment. When I spoke to him (Josh) on the phone he was incredibly short and rude with me. When I spoke to the owner's wife, also the office manager, also Josh's mother, she just got defensive and argumentative. When I asked for a different repair tech to come do the job, she said Josh was just having a bad day and I shouldn't overreact. She then went on to say "if you had a bad hair cut,you wouldn't stop getting hair cuts, would you?" I responded by saying "no, but I would go to a different person for the job." She was unwilling to send someone else out to my house and my sensors were never adjusted. I also encountered several billing issues with this company. I seemed like I was calling every other week to resolve the billing errors. At one point, the office manager was extremely rude with me and even insinuated that I was just trying to get out of paying my bills!!! I was very insulted. At that point, I asked to have my contract terminated as I didn't feel they were living up to their end of the obligation. She refused. She said I was obligated to pay them for a year's worth of service if I wanted to terminate my contract. To my dismay, I stayed. A few months later I began having issues with the monitoring company. The alarm went off a few times, but rather than calling me first, as was the agreement in the contract, they sent someone to my house for which I was charged. When I spoke to the monitoring company they admitted that they had transcribed my phone number wrong when they switched systems and appologized for the error. However, Hometech still billed me for this. Finally, I just received a bill from Hometech for monitoring services for the first quarter of 2011, even though I had made it explicitly clear that I was not interested in their services once my contract was up in December 2010. I even wrote them a letter disputing the charges resulting from the monitoring company's errors. They have not responded to my letter or my phone calls. I am now in the process of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Please, stay away from this company!!!
Description of Work: When I purchased my first home in December of 2010, I elected to use Hometech Systems to install and monitor my home alarm since they were a local company. I purchased a 1 yr. contract from them.
