Kalley Flooring

As I said, haven't had the work done yet, but was very impressed with their responsiveness, and the advice they gave me.

Good contractors are hard to find, so I only use people on Angie's List. Harry was easy to get a hold of and met with me the same day I called. He carefully examined my floors and went over the price with me. All the other floor people I called quoted me twice as much. The job went very fast and Harry's men were very clean and polite. It all took 3 days with drying time inbetween coats. The color in uniform through out the whole floors and no signs of old nails.The floors look great, newer that new. They just don't put in hardwood floors like that today and I see why so many people love hardwood floors in the home. I took pictures put can't upload them to my computer now. Words just do not do justice on how well the floors look. I would have Kalley flooring do my flooring needs any time. Thank you Harry and your crew too!

The workers were conscientious and knew what they were doing. The job was completed in about half a day. The repairs to the floor look good as well as the refinishing. There was only one problem. After the floor was sanded, they didn't vacuum up entirely some of the sandings in the corners. Later, when they applied the coating, you could feel and see pieces of the sanding that were now under the coating. I would have given them an A if it wasn't for this.

Harry Abramson was extremely helpful in fitting me in, last minute. I literally called late afternoon one day and the workers began the job first thing the following morning. The workers were prompt, professional, skilled, polite, thorough and clean. The entire job was completed in 2 days (which included sanding and the application of 3 coats of floor sealant. I would highly recommend them to anyone and give props to Harry for making it all happen so quickly.

Harry from Kalley flooring did not give me any problems when I requested that he return my deposit.

We purchased an Angie's List Big Deal: "$99 for 100 Sq Ft. of Hardwood Refinishing!" When we called to schedule work, we asked if the sanding was machine or manual sanding and the owner told us that it was electronic and that they need to sand 3 times to do the work properly and that they know what they're doing. He was VERY rude. He went on to say that the Big Deal only covered one sanding and coating. We said we wanted to just take the Big Deal offer and the owner asked for the exact square footage (because if it was just an inch over, it would be extra). We measured and called him back and let him know the area was 10x7.5. He again tried to upsell us on the need to spend an additional $400 to do the job properly. When we told him that we wouldn't accept his upcharge to coat and sand the floor 3 times instead of the intended 1 time with the Angie's list deal. The owner said "I don't want to work for you. Call Angie's list and get a refund." We told him we purchased the deal and he said he didn't care, he wasn't going to work for us.We checked the Angie's List reviews and it appears he does this frequently to people buying the Big Deal and who don't want to agree to additional work beyond the deal. He is not honoring the purchases that don't result in additional money for him. This man was extremely rude and clearly the Big Deal is an inconvenience for him when it doesn't result in the customer agreeing to spend more money than agreed upon through Angie's List. I also read that the owner dismisses complaints by accusing the customers of being rude. This was not the case. We have a small foyer area which has hardwood floors and the area needs to be refinished. This was the perfect "Deal" for us at this point in time and I wanted to have the work done as outlined in the Angie's List Big Deal. Deals like this are a way of learning about a company before committing to a larger project. This could have lead to additional work for Kalley Flooring since we have another house that needs flooring on the entire first level, and now I know not to consider this unprofessional company for any further work. The owner has no integrity and is abrasive and rude, which I can only assume would translate to any contract work he provides.

Harry came and gave me an estimate on refinishing my really messed up engineered hardwood floors he , showed up early, and is a nice guy, his price was higher then another estimate I received, but there were a lot of good reviews on Angies List so I went with them. The workers showed up ontime when the job was scheduled and did a great job. There was a lot of detail work I was concerned with, but it wasn't an issue, these guys are good. Once the work started, they had a problem sanding some parts of the stairs (risers I think), so they put in some new wood that they stained to match. This upped the price some, I was a little bummed out about this because I felt this should have been caught in the original estimate, but o well. Besides that, a great job and the floors look great!

I had wanted my 1940's red oak floors refinished for some time. When I saw the Angie's deal for Kalley flooring, I checked out his rating and his web page then bought 2 of the deals. Harry responded promptly to my call and came over for a consultation. He explained the deal to me, extra coats were extra money, extra square footage, and that I could have my floors stained for an extra fee. I ended up spending an extra $850 and boy am I happy that I did. His crew came over and spent time going over color samples on my floor. I had a picture of a grey floor for over a year and I showed it to them. They came back the next day and did a grey sample. It was perfection. My floors look fantastic. They look updated. modern. the work is impeccable and I am very happy. I would use them again and recommend them in an instant.

I joined Angie's List in order to buy a 'Big Deal' for 100 sq ft of flooring, sanded, with one coat of finish applied. I have been redoing a townhouse and my small kitchen floor really needed a 'make over'. When Harry came to view the floor and schedule the work to be done, he recommended three coats of finish. After some discussion, we agreed on one coat under the banquette and two coats for the remainder of the floor. On the appointed day, Mariano and his co-worker arrived early. They were polite and very professional. They set about work, removing the banquette and a small table from the room. They then prepared the floor and applied the first coat. When it was dry, they moved the banquette back into place and applied the second coat to the rest of the floor. A follow up phone call from Harry, after the work was completed, was prompt. It was worth joining Angie's List in order to buy the 'deal'. The floor looks great!

My wife and I recently purchased a home that had and quot;cupping/warpingand quot; throughout the existing floors and needed repair. Additionally we wanted to have hardwood installed in other rooms in the house. I did my research on hardwood repair and installation and had 4 companies provide quotations. Some of the questions I had included: What can be done to eliminate cupping on existing flooring? Have the existing floors been previously refinished? How do we prevent cupping on new wood install? Will there be problems in matching new wood to the old wood? What is the best coating treatment? How long will the project take? Kalley was competitive in their bid, was very knowledgable and took time to answer all of our questions. For these reasons we elected to go with Kalley. Harry was extremely responsive, focused on delivering a top quality product, and presented options to of where to save money. Harry really made an effort to ensure our satisfaction throughout the project. To alleviate our concern of correcting the cupping problem on our existing floors, Harry had Manuel, his lead installer, refinish an area before we proceeded. Both Harry and Manuel were responsive and communicative throughout the project and met our agreed timeline. Installing and refinishing floors can be a messy project, but Manuel cleaned up after every day and thoroughly cleaned for any sawdust before staining and finishing. Manuel does excellent work. Harry and Manuel were also responsive to a few changes that we wanted to make mid-project and were very fair in addressing cost impact. My wife and I are extremely pleased with the way the project came out and the level service that Kalley provided. I am also impressed with the follow up customer service that we have received from Harry making sure that we were still pleased with their work. We strongly recommend Kalley - they are competitively priced, perfectionists, and customer service focused.

Harry's excellent workman was prompt, skillful, knowledgeable, friendly, and conscientious. My dining room floor turned out better than I had hoped it would.

We were able to get an immediate quote and Kalley Flooring was able to book the job to meet our schedule. They were responsive to all of our questions and inquiries, returned phone calls very quickly, and the workmen were extremely prompt, courteous, and completed the job in the estimated time. At the completion of the job, the workmen did a very good job of cleaning up. The finished product was beautiful and met our expectations. We were happy with the work ethic and would recommend them to our friends and relatives.

The experience was one we dreaded - how would we get the furniture moved? how long would it take? how much would it cost? - but with the Angie's List referral, we felt secure in our choice of Kalley Flooring. We cannot recommend this company highly enough.

Kalley Flooring evaluated the existing floors. I explained that I was experiencing unexpected wear in areas and that I wanted it colored darker. Kalley did a sample to see if screening or scraping was required. The Aluminum Oxide finish that existed was too hard to allow the screening to get the finish off to allow the recoloring so we went with scraping. Kalley had a number of samples of candidate colors made for me so I could pick the right color. The scraping process began after I cleared all my furniture out of the first floor of the house. The process took 4 and a half days to scrape 1000 sq. ft. They colored it in 1/2 day and then it took 2 more days for the finish to be applied. The replaced the baseboard moldings with the same style (per my wishes) and stained this to match the floors. This was installed in between coats of the finish. The end result was a beautiful floor.

It went very well. For Do's if you have limited experience in this area I would suggest following their instructions and ask what you don't understand as well as be clear as to what you would like done. As in any home repair project Don't assume that they can read your mind and know your expectations and communicate clearly what you would like done and discuss the options on the work that needs to be completed. Remove all of the Furniture and objects from the room so that the whole area can be seen before the project starts to avoid any surprises. Somewhat related if you are removing wall to wall carpet as I was be prepared to replace some of the Baseboards as the old Baseboards may not totally cover the edge of the original Hardwood floor that was covered by the carpet. (This has nothing to do with Kalley or any other floor re-finisher but the original builder of the home when the floor was installed, in my case, 73 years ago. Also if you have always had wall to wall carpet be prepared for an increase in the echo of the room once the carpet is gone and the wood floors exposed.

I saw a special on angies list for floor refinishing from Kalley so I called. I didn't want to call a professional floor company because I knew they would try to make me redo the whole floor and I did not have the money to do that. Harry, the owner came right over and told me just that, but when I said i only wanted to correct the few areas, he gave me a really good price and did a great job. It's not perfect, as he told me it's very hard to match and fix these types of problems, but he worked on it and let it dry and came back and fixed it even more. (I bet he would even try again to get it even better). He didn't ask for more money, he was a total "mensch" and professional and very easy and nice to work with. HIs workers Mariano was very nice as well. They cleaned up, left my house nice and neat and very courteous. Not like your typical home repair type of person. I highly recommend Kalley Floor.

Kalley Flooring was an answer to prayer! My once beautiful wood floors in the kitchen/dining room were in dire need of repair/refinishing. Harry, the owner, came within one day of my call to review the job and provided a detailed estimate for the repairs. He was actually ready to come the same day as my call, but I wasn't available, so we agreed to meet the next day! He was very professional and it was immediately evident that he understood what the job entailed and expected result. Harry understood that the holidays were a couple of weeks away and was as motivated as I to complete the job such that I could enjoy the holidays with a beautiful floor. He scheduled his crew to start the job the very next day! The next morning, Manuel, the crew lead, arrived precisely at the agreed-to time. From the start, I was absolutely amazed at the work ethic of the Kalley Flooring team. Repairs were immediately attended to. Manuel spent the entire day working, on into the evening, to ensure that all of the repairs were satisfactorily completed the first day. Over the next three days, the team sanded, cleaned, stained, and finished the floors and baseboards. Manuel noticed that my front and kitchen doors (both solid wood) were missing some guards to protect them from the rainy weather. He let me know what I needed to get at the hardware store and installed the hardware. He also installed external doorway guards that filled gaps under the door. I could immediately feel the difference in the temperature of my home with the drafts gone. I cannot express just how beautiful a job Kalley Flooring did, especially considering what the floors looked like at the start of the job. I am totally looking forward to greeting guests in my home this holiday season and serving Christmas dinner in my beautiful dining room!

As coordinator for this homeowner's job, I met with Harry the next day after initial conversation-if warm, fuzzy is a style you need you probably won't get that (that came later once we got the business out of the way-we're both business oriented - Harry answered all of my questions satisfactorily and yes, I believe in saving my client $$$.) We also discovered we had something in common which made Harry really wonderful to work with...I must say the crew who did the actual work (the floors were in bad shape) was outstanding! I wish I could show pictures from before and after. I bought Kalley's $599 for 300 sq ft special coupon. The floors looked thrashed; lots of scratches from carpet tacks and some boards needed replacing. Harry came out to take a look and I immediately knew he was wonderful. Super professional and honest. He arranged to have Marianas and his crew come the next morning to start sanding. The next day Harry called me at work, from my house, and told me the floors looked very nice and that I would be surprised; as he was by how great they looked. He was right! Amazing! No scratches, no stains, his crew matched the wood perfectly for the repair, and with the satin finish they look amazing. I wish I could show pictures from before and after. Thank you, Harry, for a job well done. It was a little job and I really appreciated that it didn't matter to him. I'm looking forward to having the rest of my floors done and would hire Kalley in a heart-beat. Thank you's to Marianas and Carlos too. You guys rock!

I bought 2- Big Deals ( $129 each) from this company to sand and refinish two bedrooms. Harry came out to give us a reasonable estimate. The bedrooms were 12X13 each. The job was to sand and refinish both bedrooms. One bedroom needed to have the carpet removed. One bedroom was damaged due to dog urine. I was impressed by the company because they did not try to sell me new flooring in the bedroom with the urine issue, which would have been costly. They tried their best to refinish the best they could. With some visible staining due to the urine, the floor overall looked good and I saved money. I was also impressed that the entire job only costed $772 for both rooms. The company was also very responsive, the varnish they used was water based (by law now). My hallway floor is oil based ( 10 years ago). The textures of the bedroom floors and the hallway are different due to the different types of varnish. When I called them to let them know the difference in texture, they came out within a week to give the rooms (having to move the furniture out) another coat which made it better. The floors are not exactly the same but I am happy with my rooms and we are saving the environment by using water based varnish.Thanks Harry.

The crew that arrived were prompt and courteous. I went with a product called Wear-max ceramic finish. My floors look amazing and were done exactly on time! I definitely recommend this company for all your flooring needs. I can't wait to start on the rest of our house.

We got Harry's name from a friend of ours. We called Harry to give us an estimate and he responded to us immediately. He gave us an amazing deal on the price of the wood laminate and the installation. He even helped us move our furniture (which was very heavy!). He was able to work quickly and was very flexible and was not bothered when our kids insisted on watching (a bit too closely!). He used a lot of safety practices with his tools since we have young kids around and made sure to clean up each day. He made sure have us look over each part of his work so that we would be satisfied and fixed any area that we were not completely happy with. We are extremely happy with our new floor - it has made our house so bright and open! We would definitely use Kalley Flooring again and recommend Harry to any of our friends!

Kalley Flooring seems to be a one man operation. I tried to contact Kalley right after I bought the Deal and received an email from Harry saying he was out of the country and asking that I call back in a week. Harry almost never answered the phone, I had to leave a message. (He usually returns calls promptly.) It took numerous phone calls and nearly a month to schedule a measurement. Harry explained the delays by professing confusion regarding the Big Deal and his dealings with Angie's List. He never offered to follow up, it was always my job to keep things moving. After the measurement, Harry quoted $958 for refinishing 247 square feet and four steps. I told him I thought the two coupons covered 400 square feet of refinishing (I got the numbers wrong). He explained that the Big Deal and quot;only covers one coatand quot; and you need at least three. He did not correct my mistake. The terms of the Big Deal seemed irrelevant to him. He explained that he just deducted the cost of the Big Deal from the total price. I told Harry I wanted what the coupon bought, and no more. He kept trying to sell me the higher priced job. When I asked if the floor would actually be worse after having the job done as purchased, he avoided answering. I finally asked what he would do if it were his floor. Again, he avoided answering. On my third try, he admitted that he would leave the floor as it is. (So, either the work sold would leave the floor worse than before or he was just trying to get out of doing it.) I explained that I don't like buying something when the person selling it wouldn't buy it. He said that he had done several jobs from the Big Deal coupons and that every one of them had bought the up-sold package. I'm afraid I might have offended Harry by not buying. He didn't shake my hand when he left.
