2 Possums have been caught so far...

About the price: there is a charge for trap set up, each additional visit to the property, and per animal removal. If there had been fewer animals trapped, my fee would have been lower. Ultimately, when animals are traisping around over head and under foot, there is value in getting them removed. About the interface with the contractor: Fortunately Jeremy arrived to remove an animal while the contractor was installing the grating under the deck. I had told them to leave the small animal entry space open until we had three days with no new animal capture, and to come back to finish the installation. They did not want to have to come back, but Jeremy insisted that it was necessary to do so, and they listened to him.

We called Jeremy because we had what felt like an animal highway under our house. We had seen a raccoon hanging out on our back deck (terrorizing our cats through the door), and thought it might be living under our house. We knew we had an unsecured opening under our deck, but before we built a trap door to access it, and close off the opening, we had to clear out any animals that were nesting under our house. Jeremy came the same day that we called, he presented his price list, and one of his first questions was, "Do you hear scratching under your tub?". "YES!". It's common for animals to nest near the pipe opening to the bottom of the tub. He did a thorough look through of around the house, and set up two traps for us, baited with cat food. He very patiently explained how to free any cats or squirrels that might get caught, and let me set and release them several times so I felt comfortable. You have to call before 8 am to have a pick up that day. He always called to let me know when he would be at the house, and if I was home, he would ring the doorbell to let me know he was there. While our traps were set, I heard an animal in our attic, and when he came for a pick up he inspected the attic through our ceiling crawlspace, and let me know it wasn't a raccoon, but a rat (rats) in our attic, based on the droppings and torn up insulation. Ewww. He explained how to set the traps, and then went around the outside of the house, and showed me where trees need to be trimmed, and how to securely plug and screen any holes and openings. We mistakenly tried mouse traps, which went off but didn't caputre, and the next day he hooked us up with rat traps (much larger and scarier), as well as some screening for our attic vents. We caught three possums, a cat (which I let go), and my husband and I took care of the rat in the attic. I can't say enough good things about Jeremy, he was very knowledgeable, professional, courteous, timely, did the job, and overall a nice guy. There are cheaper trappers out there, but after reading other reviews and other Angieslisters who had less than desired results from other companies, I decided why risk it? You'll be happy with his services.

After having a "B"-level experience with a different dead animal removal service, I joined Angie's List with the express purpose of finding a highly recommended contractor to remove a dead animal from my crawlspace. I called after hours on Monday evening and left a message. When I called early Tuesday morning (before leaving for work), Jeremy was able to give me an afternoon service. He called me later in the day to narrow the time to between 2-3pm. He arrive on time and got right to work. In short order (odor?) the dead opossum was removed. Jeremy was not only considerate of my property, he used what seemed to be proper safety equipment, including a face mask and jump suit. I highly recommend Jeremy of Animal Capture Wildlife Control. A lecture for all homeowners: Dead animal services tend to be on the expensive side, but it's a really "dirty job" and highly specialized. If you're not going to do it yourself, at least make sure you take note of the costs and cover up all openings to the outside from your crawlspace, attic, etc. In many cases, an investment of tens of dollars in screening will avoid the need to spend hundreds in removal and disposal costs.

We tried several Animal control companies with little success before we called ANIMAL CAPTURE WILDLIFE CONTROL. They know their job and are professional. From start (service inquiry) to finish (capture of Opossums and removal), they were good.

We have a big (and rather jungly) yard in Echo Park, which means that we get skunks every spring. Which means that my dog gets skunked every spring. This spring we decided to fix the problem before the dog got skunked--especially when we saw a very bold skunk that kept coming through our yard while it was still light out. I remembered that Dirty Jobs had done an animal capture (with skunks) show in LA, so I googled and found it - Animal Capture Wildlife Control - and that's who we used. Jeremy was great. He calls back right away, he shows up right away, he knows what he's doing and is very responsive and responsible. He also was very honest--as I said we have a huge yard, the back part of which is very overgrown, and he could have just put traps back there and caught a zillion animals and charged us a ton (there's a charge per animal caught), but instead he helped us strategize where to put the traps to catch the skunks that would be a big problem for us. Caught the skunk after a couple of days (plus a couple of possums) and he came for them all right away. He does not kill the animals--releases them into the mountains, which is comforting as I don't want them dead, I just want my dog to not get skunked! I will definitely call Jeremy again for future skunk problems.

I can't say enough good things about Jeremy. Although his initial very quick response (within two hours) was partly because I was lucky he was in the area when I called, he showed up when he said he would all three times he came to the house. He was very professional and explained everything about the process, including the terms of payment, in detail. It was clear from his behavior that he is concerned about the animals' welfare, both in the short-term and the long-term. For example, he releases the animals he captures at a variety of locations so that they don't overwhelm the environment and cause other kinds of problems. He was prompt and courteous. Sealing off the deck to prevent other animals from gaining access was not part of the deal; he knew the residual smell might attract other animals, and he wanted to make sure I didn't have any future problems. I would recommend him very highly to anyone, without hesitation.

We heard noises in the attic and upon investigating we couldn't spot any animals, but saw that the insulation was all torn up. Since we had seen possums prowling around the yard at night, we suspected they were the culprits. We found Animal Capture Wildlife Control on Angie's List, called, and made an appointment for Jeremy to check it out. He confirmed that there were possums nesting up there. He also found where they were getting in, but said that he doesn't do the work to repair that. After showing us his price list he asked us if we wanted to proceed. After we agreed, he put out 3 cage traps on the patio, baited with catfood. He said to check each morning before 8am and call him if any animal was trapped. He also showed us how to operate the trap cages. The next day we saw a possum in one of the traps and called Jeremy. He came out a few hours later, replaced the trap, and took the possum away. Two days later we saw that there were 2 more possums trapped. Since it was Sunday morning, the one day that Jeremy doesn't work, we waited until Monday to call him. Again he replaced the traps and took the possums away. Since no possums were captured in the next 4 days, Jeremy said the job was done. We gave him a check for $600 and thanked him for a good job, promptly and professionally accomplished. $600 is not cheap, but it was worth it to us. Jeremy is great... we would definitely use his company again if necessary.

A couple of months ago, my husband awoke to the sounds of an animal playing what sounded like field hockey on the roof of our bedroom. He tried making loud noises to scare off the animal, but what turned out to be a very large raccoon did not leave until after the sprinklers started and he had climbed off the roof to get water. The raccoon returned a couple of days later and that was when I called Animal Capture. Jeremy came right out to set the traps and explained how best to avoid trapping the neighborhood cats in traps. The first animal we caught was a possum, and since we were convinced that the animal on the roof was a raccoon, we continued with the trapping. After catching the first raccoon, Jeremy recommended that we wait several days before having him pick up the traps just to be sure that we had caught the right one. Its a good thing that we waited because the playful raccoon returned a week later even more rambunctious than the previous visit, and it took another week of trap setting before we caught him. Over the course of several weeks, we caught 3 raccoons and 3 possums. With each capture, Jeremy or someone from his team came right over the same day and removed the animal. A couple of times, the captured animals made quite a mess after sitting in the cages for several hours and Jeremy cleaned up the area around the cage and reset it with additional bait. At some point, you realize that you cannot remove all of the animals from the neighborhood, so since we have not heard any more playing on the roof of the house, we feel fairly confident that we caught the most agregious visitor and decided to end the services. Jeremy came right out, picked up the traps and left a bill for his services. He did not try to convince me to continue using the traps or make me feel any worry that my problem had been resolved. He was always professional, courteous and considerate. At one point during our contract, he called me to let me know that he was going to be away for several days, so he instructed me to close the traps and when he returned, he came back out at no charge to rebait and reset the traps. I believe that his prices were fair, but the costs can start to add up pretty quickly once you realize just how many wild animals there are roaming around the neighborhoods and that this is a problem that cannot be completely eradicated (I live in a very urban, busy area and was amazed at the number of raccoons and possums living near us!). Also, I have referred several friends to this company, as well. Although I hope to not ever have to use his services again, if a situation arises where I do, I would not hesitate to contact Animal Capture for assistance.

I was lazy about sealing up an opening to a crawl space above my kitchen, below a patio, and a raccoon family moved in. As one of the contingencies for selling my house, they had to be removed. I originally used a comany that does regular pest maintenance on my employers properties, but he didn't have the skill to get the job done- I either had to train the raccoon to the cage, or wait for them to come out and close up the opening. It was just too much for me to take on. Jeremy of ACWC, seems to be the owner operator, called me back promptly, came the same day, was able to remove the juvenille raccoon with a hook and snare, and set a trap for the mother. Jeremy came back the next morning, closed up the opening, after triple checking that the mother was gone. Unfortunately, the mother took off, but I was assured that the young racccoon would go to a shelter. While is seems on the expensive side, his skill level is worth it.

Before moving into my house, the workers left the crawl space cover off, allowing the area's wild critters to let themselves in. First a skunk moved in. Next were the possums. I called ACWC and was told in detail what he would be doing and the cost. He also e-mailed me a detailed price list for his services so I knew exactly what I was looking at. One of the big differences with other companies was that they charged a daily rental for the traps, increasing the cost. With each capture, the critter did not have to spend a long time int he cage. He was there the next morning to take them away. (very responsive). It took 1 1/2 weeks but the final score was 3 possums, 1 skunk (all 4 from under the house) 2 neighbors cats (let them loose), and 1 racoon (i swear this one was not one of my house guests!). All in all I was extremely happy with the service. There were no surprices with pricing and service was extremely prompt and professional. I would recommend ACWC to everyone!

Jeremy was very polite on the phone, gave me an estimate and approximate arrival time and then advised he would call when he was about 20 minutes away. He did everything he said he would, and charged what he said he would. Sadly, he did find a dead cat under the house, which he removed and took with him for disposal. He was extremely polite and professional.

We knew there was something dead in the crawl space by the odor. Jeremy was recommended to us by our bug exterminator. I called Jeremy at 9am and he was at our house by 11:30am the same day. Clean, neat and professional. Jeremy crawl into the space and remove the carcass quick and clean. His price was exactly what was quoted. I wish all companies were as efficient as Animal Capture Wildlife Control. I will recommend this company to all my friends.
