he came out and looked at my furnace then said I needed a new generator for the unit. After he left, there was a gas leak. He came back out and put a lit match against the wall and said there was no leak. I called the gas company and they did find the leak. La Canada used a fitting on the pipe instead of the correct connector which was causing the leak. The gas company did the repair for free. A month later the generator stopped working and La Canada wanted to charge another $90 just to come out and look at it. They also said I would really need a new wall unit and not just another generator. I hired another company and had the wall heater and generator replaced for only 200. I asked for a refund but they would not. They charged me twice as much as the other company for half the work and it broke after six weeks. The second company also said the generator that was installed looked used and definitely not six weeks old.
"In response to your complaint: The initial repair was due to a failed generator. A new generator out of the package was used. That generator carries a 1 year manufactures warranty. Thermostat was badly damaged and needed replaced also, you refused. We only adjusted the broken thermostat to make the system work. (We never used any incorrect fittings as you claimed). After the initial repair, you claimed to have smelled a gas leak. Upon arrival you could not smell any gas. You could only smell gas sometimes. We quickly came back to inspect the wall heater and could not find or smell any leakage. We demonstrated that there was no leak around the furnace by exposing the furnace to open flame, nothing. A new unit was recommended because the unit was 30+ years old. Then, 6 weeks later you called because unit not working. We again returned and found a bad gas valve, the generator was working properly. We only have a 30 day warranty on labor so a service call was charged. You refused repair and refused to pay for service. You then decided to hire another co. instead of working things out with us. Now you're expressing your dissatisfaction because a minor repair of the generator did not correct all the problems. Sorry we do not agree about giving you back the initial repair cost, that's not reasonable. After explaining this to you several times on the phone, I see your still trying to damage our reputation by going out of your way to blog anyone that will listen. We believe you're getting very bad advice from the competitor, giving you false accusations. Sorry to disagree with you."
My second experience was with the installation of an AC unit in the attic of our historic home. La Canada AC installed a 3 ton unit to cool the upstairs during those hot weeks in August and Sept. They were the lowest price of 3 companies that cared enough to bid for my business and were also available to do the installation in a reasonable time. The installation was done professionally and in time for those hot summer days. The installation team showed up each moring on time and cleaned up each day when their work was complete. They worked with me on the location of each register and the runs for the copper and condensation lines. They offere a 10 year parts and labor guarantee and followed up with a small electrical problem I was having after installation. I was very pleased with the workmanship and would certainly use LA Canada AC again.
"Good day, {Removed members name} We met only with your wife on the service call performed. You are mistaken in your recollection that we stated that you are breathing in carcinogens. We never referred to carcinogens relating to your conditions. The platform the furnace rests on has openings drawing in the carbon monoxide from the combustion air (the Gas Co. will red tag). An estimate to correct this problem was written down on your invoice for your review. What was also discussed about your furnace and duct work is they are over 25 years old. The filters that [Member Information Removed] been used are only a [Member Information Removed] 2% efficiency. The system is extremely dirty and unhealthy and needs to be cleaned up to be healthy again. The duct work is leaking a great deal of air out of the old ducts. The system is too old to spend the money to repair or to clean it up. The system is at the end of its expected life cycle. We offered to your wife, to send our estimator to meet with you and to consult with you about a new system for your home but [Member Information Removed] not heard from you until now. We apologize for any misunderstanding and will be happy to follow up with your request."
"The maintence program offers addition discounts when you purchase more than the basic one year. You stated you took the 3 years program that saves you over $325. thats a good savings!"
