Just over a year ago I had my Air Conditioning replaced by my home warranty company. A few months later, after it started leaking, I found out it was not installed to code. I had a different company come out & give me an estimate & attempted to hire them after the money from the home warranty company was reimbursed to me. They failed to make an appointment for the repairs for several months. I finally found La Canada Air from a recommendation on my Nextdoor app. Joe came out immediately during this first heatwave and performed an inspection of my unit. He gave me 2 lists...what needed to be done and what was optional. I mentioned to him that I have breathing issues at home. He gave me the different options for my unit for cleaner air that I am considering for the future. Joe was very knowledgeable and had info printouts for everything, even regarding permits. I wish I had called Joe first. Joe looked at my old invoice from the Home Warranty company & pointed out that I had paid for a HERS inspection that never happened. He was very clear while explaining how my HVAC system works and went over what needed to be done for my unit to be deemed "to code" by the city inspector & HERS inspections that were not previously done. His quote was very reasonable and on the day of the repairs, the installation techs, Noe & Anthony arrived on time with masks on. They were very neat and professional while working on this significant job to repair someone else's mess & they replaced my 30+ year old ducts. I also had them replace my 30+ year old mercury thermostat with a new digital one and I was pleased that they offered a model that my elderly mom can finally use. On the same day, following the repairs, the unit & thermostat began turning off. I called La Canada Air & they immediately sent their tech, David, out. Within minutes, he realized that a piece from my blower was overheating & needed to be replaced ...by fixing this, it also repaired my heater issue that I have been having since March. It turns out that I will not need a new heater as I had previously thought. For the first time in 5 years, I finally have a properly running HVAC. I am very happy with La Canada Air and will definitely be using them for my HVAC service needs.

he came out and looked at my furnace then said I needed a new generator for the unit. After he left, there was a gas leak. He came back out and put a lit match against the wall and said there was no leak. I called the gas company and they did find the leak. La Canada used a fitting on the pipe instead of the correct connector which was causing the leak. The gas company did the repair for free. A month later the generator stopped working and La Canada wanted to charge another $90 just to come out and look at it. They also said I would really need a new wall unit and not just another generator. I hired another company and had the wall heater and generator replaced for only 200. I asked for a refund but they would not. They charged me twice as much as the other company for half the work and it broke after six weeks. The second company also said the generator that was installed looked used and definitely not six weeks old.

Response from La Canada Air Conditioning & Heating
"In response to your complaint: The initial repair was due to a failed generator. A new generator out of the package was used. That generator carries a 1 year manufactures warranty. Thermostat was badly damaged and needed replaced also, you refused. We only adjusted the broken thermostat to make the system work. (We never used any incorrect fittings as you claimed). After the initial repair, you claimed to have smelled a gas leak. Upon arrival you could not smell any gas. You could only smell gas sometimes. We quickly came back to inspect the wall heater and could not find or smell any leakage. We demonstrated that there was no leak around the furnace by exposing the furnace to open flame, nothing. A new unit was recommended because the unit was 30+ years old. Then, 6 weeks later you called because unit not working. We again returned and found a bad gas valve, the generator was working properly. We only have a 30 day warranty on labor so a service call was charged. You refused repair and refused to pay for service. You then decided to hire another co. instead of working things out with us. Now you're expressing your dissatisfaction because a minor repair of the generator did not correct all the problems. Sorry we do not agree about giving you back the initial repair cost, that's not reasonable. After explaining this to you several times on the phone, I see your still trying to damage our reputation by going out of your way to blog anyone that will listen. We believe you're getting very bad advice from the competitor, giving you false accusations. Sorry to disagree with you."

Shawn and Anthony showed up promptly every day with the necessary equipment and tools, worked very hard in difficult conditions and cleaned up every day. Everything they installed looked professional, neat and attractive. When they needed extra help for equipment removal and delivery they got it, and the metal work for the plenum and outside tube cover was excellent. The result was everything we could want.

It could not have gone much better. Joe, the owner came to my home and sat down with me and explained everything; the cost of parts, labor, energy savings, different brands, indoor air quality, and why proper installation is the key to getting the most out of any system you buy. Face it, you can buy the best system but if it is installed by unqualified personnel the system will not function properly and cost you more in the end. La Canada Air was not the cheapest but were in the middle, and the installation was real quality and worth every penny! It has been a couple of years since the install and the system is working GREAT! I purchased the service contract so the system is checked twice a year-I think if you are spending $10,000 to $12,000 on your air quality maintenance is key. If I had it to do over again I wouldn't change a thing and I would hire La Canada Air & Heat!

When it gets ready for the summer, they come out and check everything. We sign a contract. In the wintertime, they come out again. We've had no problems. They're efficient and quick. They check things out. If I have any questions, they answer them. They're always responsive. They're always good and they know what they're doing.

This is the second time I have used La Canada AC in the past year.  The first time was to service and existing AC unit in a rental unit we own.  The service and cleaning was comprehensive and professional and brought the unit back to it's original condition.  Temperature and flow at each register was within proper ranges.  They also made a new plenum for the unit since the existing plenum at rusted out.  We should have use out of the unit for years to come.
My second experience was with the installation of an AC unit in the attic of our historic home.  La Canada AC installed a 3 ton unit to cool the upstairs during those hot weeks in August and Sept.  They were the lowest price of 3 companies that cared enough to bid for my business and were also available to do the installation in a reasonable time.  The installation was done professionally and in time for those hot summer days.  The installation team showed up each moring on time and cleaned up each day when their work was complete. They worked with me on the location of each register and the runs for the copper and condensation lines.  They offere a 10 year parts and labor guarantee and followed up with a small electrical problem I was having after installation.  I was very pleased with the workmanship and would certainly use LA Canada AC again.

Response from La Canada Air Conditioning & Heating
"Good day, {Removed members name} We met only with your wife on the service call performed. You are mistaken in your recollection that we stated that you are breathing in carcinogens. We never referred to carcinogens relating to your conditions. The platform the furnace rests on has openings drawing in the carbon monoxide from the combustion air (the Gas Co. will red tag). An estimate to correct this problem was written down on your invoice for your review. What was also discussed about your furnace and duct work is they are over 25 years old. The filters that [Member Information Removed] been used are only a [Member Information Removed] 2% efficiency. The system is extremely dirty and unhealthy and needs to be cleaned up to be healthy again. The duct work is leaking a great deal of air out of the old ducts. The system is too old to spend the money to repair or to clean it up. The system is at the end of its expected life cycle. We offered to your wife, to send our estimator to meet with you and to consult with you about a new system for your home but [Member Information Removed] not heard from you until now. We apologize for any misunderstanding and will be happy to follow up with your request."

I have used these guys for 20 years. The are dependable and honest and
easy to work with. I have an old heater and they have done all they can
to save me from buying a new one until I need it while making sure the
repairs did not cost an arm and a leg. The office staff is always
pleasant and helpful.

Everything went exactly as planned until it was time to start it up. Turned out my thermostat wasn't working properly. They replaced it at no charge. They worked in 90+ degree temperature and didn't stop until everything was working okay. This was a major replacement requiring a crane to remove the old unit off the roof and replace it with the new. All the work was coordinated from getting the old unit disconnected to the removal to the installation of the new unit. I found the process very interesting.

We are used to good service from LCA for 18 years but this month when our AC went out they couldn't schedule us because they were busy with new installations. The receptionist said they were booked all through August and would "fit us in". 2 weeks went by with no service so we checked back and the receptionist admitted we had fallen through the cracks, even though we told them half our house had no AC. We were then scheduled for this week between 2 and 4 pm and the they called at 3:55 to tell us they were on their way. The receptionist called to tell us there was nobody home at 4:15. When I discussed with the lady that it had been La Canada that was late, not us being derelict, and that we had waited 3 weeks for this service, she got snippy with me.
We will not be renewing our service with them.
Response from La Canada Air Conditioning & Heating
"Dear Mr. [member name removed]; Thank you for your past business over the last 18 years. This is the first I've heard about this issue. I can't believe this episode would discourage your business. I looked into this call and it was written up as weak airflow in the living room, but not for the no air conditioning in half the house. We must have got that wrong. Last week when we performed the maintenance for both units, no other problems were discovered. The calls have always been set-up with an arrival time within a range of time as an estimated time period. A call between 2-4 arriving at 4:15 is within the estimated time period. Had we arrived at 4:00, we still needed the time to perform the work. Since nobody was home we needed to reschedule another visit. Which has been completed satisfactorily. This has been the longest and hottest summers we have had in a long time which has put an enormous strain on everyone trying to stay cool. We ask for your patients and understanding and will try to do better in the future."

Earlier this week our AC acted up, so I called La Canada AC hoping they could help. The woman on the phone said Thursday was the earliest they could come but if something opened up sooner, they'd call. I thought that would be fine. It's thursday later morning, the day of our appointment, so I called to confirm our appointment and was told their dispatcher would have to call me back. The dispatcher called me back to say next Tuesday is the earliest they could fit me in. Not only could she have been nicer, but I would have appreciated a courtesy call to let me know. I'm sorry to say they were a total disappointment.
Response from La Canada Air Conditioning & Heating
"[member name removed], We're very sorry we could not get your call scheduled during the last heat wave we experienced. As you were told in the beginning, we were overbooked already and could not fit in every more appointments in that next day which you had requested. You said you needed someone immediately or to forget it. Our receptionist suggested you try to find someone else if your business needed quicker service than we could provide. She tried to get you to find the filters and get them changed but you were unfamiliar with the filter locations. Since we had never visited your building in the past, we were unfamiliar with your system and unable to give you the assistance you required. Please be fair with your negative remarks and "F" grading, designed to tear down our reputation. We never were able to service your equipment. Accept the responsibility of having your equipment properly serviced before the next blazing heat wave. Stop taking out your frustration on the ones trying to be helpful!"

3 to 5 workers were at our house for 4 days and they were prompt, professional, clean and respectful. The job was estimated to take 5 to 8 days but was completed in about 4 1/2 days including the final trouble shooting of the broken thermostat wire.
The system is now up and running just in time for July, August and September - The hottest months in SOCAL.
We are pleased and would recommend La Canada Air to our friends and neighbors.

It was for a lady I was helping. It was a house that never had air conditioning and it had a sixty year old furnace. They are not the cheapest but they are by far the best. They are just the best at any critical heating and air conditioning engineering or matching systems or making sure that the ducting matches the output of the furnace, things like that. I use them on really critical projects because no one comes close to their quality of work.

La Canada Air came in after another heating/cooling company gave us a bogus quote and performed faulty work.
Joe and his crew took over the job, walked around our home with us for over two hours and explained everything that needed to be done. His team started work right away (thank you Sean!) and were prompt, clean and super friendly. They did a great job, our AC is working like new and we couldn't have been happier with the job they did. We will definitely be using them for all of our heating and cooling needs.
Thank you!

When the system wouldn't start on a very hot day and tripped the breaker, I feared the worst and worried that I was facing a system replacement. Called La Canada HVAC for a service appointment. They were booked of course, so we had to tough it out for a few days longer. They called to confirm on the appointed day, showed up on time and fixed the problem by replacing a failed motor capacitor. The cost was far less than it would have been if I had needed to replace the system. Vince the technician was thorough and professional and checked the air filter too and replaced it as well.

I have used this provider every year to do preventive maintenance and/or repair on my heating and air conditioning systems. They are reliable, honest and professional. Prices seem a little high...but then all construction type rates seem high to me. I would highly recommend them.
