Positive Plumbing .Heating-Air

Waited a long time to write this review as I generally dislike leaving 1 star reviews for small businesses. However, after giving Alex (owner and worker) the benefit of the doubt and a lot of patience, I've finally run out. Reasons for 1 star review: Unreliable, not very dependable, and kind of deceptive business practices. My initial appointment to have my HVAC system replaced had to be moved last minute because his babysitter called out at the last minute. I understand things come up, but this was the beginning of a pattern of things that made me feel he was being less than honest. Because he had to reschedule last minute he offered a discount, which I accepted. What he neglected to inform me was that this discount would come in the form of a maintenance plan that he valued at a certain dollar amount equivalent to said discount. Not great and a bit shady but maybe could be overlooked if he actually did something to cover the maintenance plan but so far he has not reached out to me at all to come do any maintenance and when I called him out on it, he sent a tech to replace my filters with what I could see were pretty inexpensive, low rating air filters. 1 visit and crappy air filters are hardly worth the maintenance plan valuation. During the process of installation, things felt very rushed. Apparently the headlights of his van had gone out, and while they were wrapping things up, the sun was going down. He seemed very rushed and commented several times that he needed to go because of his headlights and not wanting to drive home in the dark. Again, I understood that but hardly feels like he valued my time or satisfaction as he left a bit of a mess and dings, scratches and damage to the drywall near my attic. I guess he kind of offered to have someone come take care of the damage but at this point I was less than thrilled with having another person in my house trying to fix things. Lack of follow-up on multiple occasions. One of which was supposed to happen when the weather warmed up. I guess it's difficult to get proper reading on the refrigerant in cold weather so he said he would come back in a couple months when the weather was warmer and would allow for proper readings and measurement. He never followed through on his own, I had to call to remind him. Then most recently I reached out to Alex about a lot of water coming from my unit in the ceiling, which I understand happens due to condensation and what not but it seemed a bit excessive so I was concerned. While we did exchange a few messages regarding my concerns, he said that he would call me back in 5 minutes but that never happened. I guess I could think that he maybe forgot but at this point I think I'm done making excuses for him or understanding his excuses. Won't bother reaching out again and definitely won't be doing any repeat business with him in the future.

I own a property management company using a lot of different contractors to preform routine maintenance. Easter Sunday my water heater went out so I decided to use Angie's list to see how quickly I could get it replaced. I posted the job and within minutes Alex (the owner) of Positive plumbing called me to discuss my problem. He asked me to send him pictures of my existing water heater and told me he would call me at 8 am the next morning with a price. The next morning he called at 7:45 and quoted me what I felt was a fair price. I gave him the job and he indicated he would be at my house between 10 am and noon, he arrived at 9:55 am. He was extremely organised clean and courteous. He finished the job, walked me through the features of the new heater, explained the factory warranty and prepared the bill. To my surprise he charged me less than he originally quoted. I can not say enough good about Alex and Positive Plumbing. It is not often someone exceeds my expectations but Alex defiantly did. I HIGHLY recommend Positive Plumbing and will defiantly use them again for ALL of my heating, air conditioning and plumbing needs. Thanks again Alex...

Great! Alex and associates from Positive Plumbing did a fine job installing my new Ameristar (brand), heat-pump-based, furnace and air conditioner. They were prompt and professional. They explained how my new HVAC system worked and answered all of my questions. The installation subsequently passed the City of Irvine's Building Inspection with no problems. The cost listed below includes the cost of the City of Irvine's Building Permit for, and inspection of, the installation ($120) and a drip or 'scally' pan that the City requires to be installed under the air handler ($295). I am very satisfied with my new HVAC system and with Positive Plumbing's service. I have subsequently hired Positive Plumbing to repair some other plumbing problems and I am very satisfied with that work as well.
