Fast Water Heater Company

It was rough going at first because I selected the provider via Angie's List and they didn't follow-up promptly at all either via email or phone. It actually took over a week to finally speak with somebody and since I'm in sales I just thought they must be really disorganized on a customer service level. That said, when we finally did get an appointment the installer was really nice and I felt comfortable with him. He did everything he said he would. Of course, nothing is easy, so I was faced with all these additional charges that I had to make snap decisions on before getting an opportunity to do my research. That really frustrated me, but I knew it wasn't the installer's fault. It was just lousy expectation setting by the customer service/sales department. In the end, despite a lousy sales process, I do feel like a got a quality installation at a good price. Now that I know what to expect from this process, I'd probably call this company again because of the quality of the install, but I could see other people getting really frustrated if they don't fix their customer service issues.

The reps I spoke with were fine. I did not end up using them but the overall experience and communication with them was fine.

Dustin showed up promptly with 30 minute notice prior to arrival. He was professional, courteous, and efficient. While I purchased the $849 deal, the installation required additional work to meet code requirements, which were very well explained. After work was completed, all trash was removed from the area.

They arrived during the appointment time, and we discussed pricing. For the larger heater, I was quoted $1419.00 installed, plus the additional costs of permit, an extra man (due to the heater size), etc. However, when they gave me the written quote, the price was higher. I showed him my quote, they called their manager and matched the original quote, so that was fine. Then they opened the box, and found that the heater was damaged- it had dents in multiple places. They had to go back to Home Depot and change it out. It was rush hour, so this was a long and involved process. They returned and got everything connected and answered all of our questions. It was a late day for them! Everything seemed fine until the next day, when we woke up to find a stream of water running out of the heater and all over our garage. I called the company, and was first told that they couldn't get anyone out there for another day (even though I called in late morning). This was not acceptable to me- not only did I have a mess in the garage, but I had guests in the house, and no hot water. They said that they had no one in my area (Ventura County). My rep called his manager, who got back to me a few hours later and told me that he found someone to come out later that day. The second guy immediately identified the problem (a connection on the back size of the heater was not screwed together tightly, resulting in the constant leak). He quickly fixed the problem, and then I asked him to clean up some of the water around the heater, as the pan was full. He quickly did so. The water heater is working well. Very efficient.

While scheduling the water heater installation, the service provider made me aware of additional costs that would nearly triple the amount paid. In their defense, it appears that extra permits for a manufactured home were partially to blame. Our water heater is still functional, so we have delayed our purchase to save the money for the extra expense.

It went very well. The repairman was very friendly and efficient. No complaints.

In terms of Fast Water Heater things went great. From my initial call Marcus was courteous, professional and thorough. He provided the information I needed without being pushy just to get the business. The way he handled my initial call spurred me to call them back the next day to get more info and confirm the job. On Angie's list I found several coupons for the company. During my call back I confirmed whether they could be used for my job. Marcus checked with his management and they offered to honor two of the coupons if I could schedule the job the next day. I LOVE that type of customer service. For that they got a grade "A" on Price. Michael, the installer, arrived the next morning just as Marcus and I had scheduled the appointment. Immediately Michael saw a problem, updated me on the situation and got on the phone with Marcus to locate the specific water heater we needed. Marcus contacted Michael with the location of the water heater and Michael took off to get it. I expected it to take a good hour for him to get the water heater and get back to my unit. He was back within 40 minutes. Michael was thorough in all his explanations and the installation of the water heater. Needing a "special" water heater brand and model for our unit jacked the job cost up a good $500, but that wasn't Fast Water Heater Co's fault. Thank goodness I found those coupons on Angie's List and the company honored them both. Bottom line ?. Fast Water Heater is my company from now on when it comes to water heater repair or installation for any of my properties.

Fast Water Heater company was very prompt at contacting me to schedule the install after i had purchased the water heater deal from Angie's list. The scheduler was great at working with my tenants on schedule for installation. I met with the installer after he had done with the installations and he mentioned there is a $90 permit fee for city of Garden Grove. I authorized him to proceed. The office called later said they would cover the permit fee since the installer didn't collect when he met up with me! Wow, talking about awesome service. The install went great, the water heater looks great...time will tell how long it will last. Also, they took away the old water heater. Highly recommended vendor! KEvin

Hired company to install water heater. When they got here the water heater we wanted would not fit into the space. No problem with the company. They were friendly and informative.

Service was prompt, efficient and professional. Erick came out when promised and changed out the unit in about 90 minutes. Installation was neat, workmanlike, and professional in every aspect, fully adherent with current codes. My only gripe is that Home Depot sells the heater for $568 meaning that installation was about $830, which seems steep for 2 hours of work, ~$35 of materials and delivery.

James was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Fast Water Heater is a contractor for Home Depot, which requires that installation be up to code and able to obtain a permit. This requires some extra work, as described above, which results in higher costs (or not - because you really can't tell what any installer will tell you has to be done until the job is underway). I went with this arrangement primarily because James' explanation that, not only is it safer, but if there should be a gas explosion or other serious problem, insurance coverage may depend on whether the installation is up to code. My only complaint is that after James left, I realized that the water flow from my kitchen faucet was significantly lower than it had been. I called the company next day and was told that water heater installation can result in a block anywhere in the line, because it stirs up junk that has accumulated in the pipe over the years. I would not have known what to do but ironically had a plumber scheduled for the next day for other work. He unscrewed the end of the faucet and washed out the residue that had accumulated after the installation. There was no charge, and the problem was completely fixed. Because Fast Water Heater are not plumbers, they simply don't deal with such issues, whereas a plumber/installer would have. On balance, I think I prefer Fast Water Heater because not all plumbers are really expert at water heater installation, whereas these guys are.

When I finally was contacted by CSR (NO company phone or contact info provided to me) I was told that because I lived in a mobile home, additional charges estimated to be $550 - $1800 would be required. I really got the impression that they wanted nothing to do with a mobile home installation. NO indication of such charges was mentioned in the fine print of the offer. The CSR was professional and cordial. I have made arrangements to have this service done with a 12 yr. guaranteed Whirlpool water heater installed with a local technician for less than the coupon price.

Mo Mo was the technician/plumber. I had read about upsales on Angie's list, so I was prepared. I had a water heater spill pan, as well as a new stand just in case. We already had the expansion tank. When Mo Mo arrived, he told me he had never had someone so well prepared. Also, that as many replaced water heaters are old, the new codes were not met (ie: expansion tanks, drip pans...). He said people are generally not prepared to bring everything up to code, and balk the costs as upsales. Plumbers get paid by the hour--if you aren't prepared, you will have to buy the items to bring the water heater to code off the truck. That's just the way it is. If you ask them about the code in your area, they will tell you what has to be included, and you can purchase it beforehand and Lowe's or Home Depot for less. Mo Mo was prepared, punctual, professional, thorough, and a really nice guy. I have no problem recommending them. I dinged them on price and quality. The work from Mo Mo was superb, but the water heater provided in their special, was at the bottom of the energy star comparisons.

I purchased this deal late Friday night. This vendor was very efficient and came out on the Sunday after I called. Their work was very well done and they had provided me with recommendations on how to pass inspection and assisted with this as well. He was in and out within 2 hours. It was great!

My water heater was under warranty when it broke. We called home depot, where we purchased it and they told us to contact Fast water heater co. We made an appointment for Thursday in the afternoon. They called late and said they would not be making it, due to the fact the last job ran over. Made an appointment for next day. They came, and told us our water heater storage closet was not up to code. It is a closet outside on the patio, just big enough for the water heater with a fully slated door. We were quoted $800.00!! To put in extra vent, earthquake straps and a metal pan under heater. We said no thanks! We asked if they could just leave the water heater that was ours. They said NO! They would take back. Approximately, a hour and a half later, they knocked on our door again.?? They said they would leave the water heater for $139.00! Which we agreed to, as we had no choice! They refused to take the old water heater. Seems very fishy... as they were so adament they could not leave it the first time! We checked the prices of the items they said we needed, Mark up was outrageous!! I would never use these people! No integrity! WOW!! A few days later someone from the company left a message on my cell phone, saying they would like to correct the misunderstanding with us. Called back but no one answered. The CC authorization had expired, leaving us to think they would not charge us for their behavior, but alas wishful thinking, I was charged over a week later.

two weeks ago, the technician came in to install a new water heater, I was persuaded to put in additional expansion pressure tank (cost me $125) and the water heater drain pan ($59) since we deem them are necessary as suggested by the technician , and because of time strain, we decided to pay for them on site, instead ran to nearby home depot to buy them ourselves. But after a quick check with the home depot the day after, they are selling for about $40, and $15 respectively. We took in good faith that this company will do a great job and offer great saving when we are referred from Angie list, and I certainly understand the company needs some price markup in order to make a profit, but by charging such devises almost 200% more to customer is really taking advantage of people in a hurry, and I certainly will be reluctant to recommend to my other family members or friends about their service in the future, because they also ignore our complaint and do not response afterwards.

Ryan M. came out to our home within the time frame that he provided, on the same day that we called for service! He looked over the unit, made recommendations, and provided us with options for replacing our broken water heater. He was very kind and knowledgeable! He gave us different options for replacement. Ryan M. is a great person to represent the FAST company! We are very happy with our experience with this company, would use them again, and would recommend them to our neighbors and friends!

They replaced a water heater. Initial price was cheaper, however the final price was just expensive as others. I had no choice because I didn't have time to do work myself, and wanted work permitted. Thought some of the costs were high though.

The tech was very nice and on time. The water heater was installed in just under 3 hours. The washer had to be moved and they charge for that (had I known - I would have moved myself) and with the job coming up to code, the price was higher. But we wanted it done right so we paid to have every thing correctly done. After he was gone, I discovered residue in the driveway which had also pooled in the cracks of the sidewalk and street. When I called the company, they had the tech come back and hose off the area. Overall a good experience! BE ADVISED: this is really a company working for Home Depot. I have no issues with that but you should know!

I called about getting a new 100-gallon water heater (250K to 275K BTU). My current water heater needs to be replaced because of code issues, and the site really needs to be assessed in person to address these issues. However, the company would not agree to physically inspect the site, unless I gave them the model number of my current water heater over the phone, so that they could give me a ballpark estimate over the phone.

We ended up not needing the water heater after all. This company was very patient with us over the last couple of months during our remodeling, they were very professional and we would not hesitate to use them in the future.

Bought a Big Deal offer on Angie's List but they don't service the area I am located. Ended up getting a refund for the deal. They seemed courteous when I spoke to them to resolve it.
