I cannot recommend Swift Tree Care for any homeowner's tree work. We had a 60 foot oak tree fall in our very small back yard, some of it resting on our roof. I received 4 quotes from local tree companies to remove the tree. Swift Tree Care was the most expensive, however the owner, Craig, showed up personally to give me a quote, (in 2 other cases, they had another staff person show up). I liked this and it seemed like he would be communicative and provide the personal attention to detail that I wanted for this job. We let them know that they were the highest quote by far.

The actual tree work itself went just fine, they showed up within a short time frame, the main climber seemed experienced and skillful and they got the tree down with no residual damage to the house itself.

The peripheral damage to our property as a result of the work involved in getting the tree out was disappointing. The communication, or lack thereof, to us regarding what was going to happen left us in dismay. We paid the higher price in hopes and expectation that we would receive better attention to detail and good communication if there were any items that needed our attention. This was not the case. We feel that we could have easily gotten the same work done for as little as half the price.

We were told that they would need to get a boom truck to move equipment and materials as our property is on a hillside. Getting a boom truck for the job was implied to be part of the higher cost for their services. They mentioned that they would need to remove a piece of fence for access to this area. I was in agreement that this was a reasonable plan. They ended up not using a boom truck, but instead used the downhill slope to drag equipment and personnel up and down the slope, and debris into their truck. The slope, which is a major part of our back yard setting was decimated. This slope was not where the tree had fallen.

Our irrigation system on the slope where they dragged out the debris was destroyed. It was just ripped out and thrown to the side. We were not informed that this would happen. The foreman asked to borrow some of our personal tools and returned them muddy and dirty. There were other more minor items of concern, such as moving potted plants out of the way, and back that left us also disappointed.

The owner of the company never showed up near or at the end of the job, to inspect the quality of the work, until I let them know that I did not feel good with the quality of the work done. We were dismayed at the lack of quality attention and communication we encountered during this project.

When the owners (Craig and Kristi Swift) showed up, they asked us "how do you want it to be". I asked them the question of "why they thought I went with the highest price, when we could have done it for less". The response was that they "just wanted to get to the bottom of it." There was no indication that they wanted to know our genuine concerns. It was not a good encounter. I gave them their money and walked away. We don't believe that they truly wanted know the concerns of the customer, just that they got paid.
