Dishwasher was hand-picked from Consumer Reports and purchased in spring '09 prior to a remodel. "Appliance Works" called to say they were the installers. I wasn't ready in May or mid-June, when they called again to try and install. They told me to call Sears when I was ready. On July 3, when my kitchen was completed, I called Sears Installations to make appointment since I didn't have Appliance Works number. Appliance Works did not answer their phone when Sears tried to make contact. Sears sent an email. A week later, July 10, I called Sears again, since I had never heard from Appliance Works. Sears tried to call Appliance Works again. No answer. I asked for another installer since I'd already waited a week for a call from Appliance Works. I received another plumbing company's name. That second company agreed to PICK UP and install the dishwasher on July 13. I agreed. On July 13, the new installer called to say that my dishwasher, a $700.00 item, was no longer at the Sears warehouse. The SIGNATURE was unrecognizable. No one knew where it was, who had it, nor how long it had been gone. I blew a gasket, called Sears national installation line and raised Cain. They were able to give me the number for Appliance Works, who DID NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONE AGAIN. I left a message, told Sears I was calling the police about this. In the meantime, the new installer finally found the washer, only after it had been RETURNED TO SEARS by APPLIANCE WORKS. Apparently Appliance Works had this dishwasher for perhaps weeks and I was completely unaware that they had it. I never agreed to an installation date with them. They never had my permission to obtain my dishwasher. Worse, once they had it, they did not notify Sears and so, when I attempted to get it installed, no one knew where it was. When finally, Appliance Works did call me today, the slacker who apparently owns this business told me that he'd had it all along and that he picked it up from the first indication from Sears that I had purchased a dishwasher. He also became arrogant with me, telling me, "How could I call you back (July 3 and on) when I was on vacation?!" I told him he had no right to take my property OUT OF SEARS without a real installation date (and my agreement) and that if he was going on VACATION, he needed to tell Sears why he was unreachable. His attitude, his presumptive demeanor with my property, and his inaccessibility all add up to this: if you buy something from Sears and you need it installed, TELL SEARS YOU DON'T WANT "APPLIANCE WORKS" TO DO IT! I plan to fully inspect this dishwasher and its packaging BEFORE it comes into my house. I've put the local Sears manager and the national installation line on alert that since this item was out of their warehouse for weeks, I will demand a complete replacement if there is even a dent in the box.
Description of Work: I purchased a dishwasher from Sears and they assigned these people to install it.
