My overall experience with him went fine and positive. The price was fair.

We turned a faucet on this morning, and then it wouldn't turn off. Hot water kept streaming out of the faucet. We turned all the water off to the house, and then called this company (which I found on Angie's List, but had never heard of before). Jay was there in just a few hours and fixed the problem. He carefully explained what had happened and what he needed to do to fix it--and took care of it. Problem solved. We will definitely call them again if we have another problem!

This is the type of small repair that can be hard to find someone to fix in a reliable and professional manner. We were extremely pleased with the prompt, timely and professional service. They were able to come out the day we called, arrived on time and completed the job in the time frame indicated and were very clean and tidy. We will definitely call again to do other work in our home.

It was really quickly. They called back immediately and he came that day. He was really prompt and came back right away to fix the second toilet. It was really easy to make an appointment and he was on time. Everything works fine. He is very personable and efficient and he kept his area clean.

He was very nice and very professional but he just didn't do the type of work that I needed done. I am doing some specific work on gas lines and he doesn't work on gas lines.

They could have been a better company. I would say they were about average overall. The demeanor of the plumber that came was very rude. He came in and he was angry, not in a good mood, and he pretty much walked through the door looked at things. He proceeded to my garage, opened up the door and started my moving things around.

Jay did a good job. He recommended not installing a new pump as we rarely used it. He noted that most return circulation systems had a gravity component, which we had been using for a number of years unknowingly. Also discovered why both lines got hot, a repair at some point in the past had apparently switched the hot and cold lines. The system has always had a few peculiarities that this explains, and we have a reasonable idea where the switch is. That will be the next project.

Mr. LaVerne arrived promptly at our appointment time, spent 30 minutes working on the drain to clear it, and explained to us that he didn't have equipment that was large enough to solve the problem. He then referred us to a local drain cleaning company (who later fixed it). Mr. LaVerne then refused to take payment for his work because he wasn't able to do the repair. I was very surprised. He had driven to our home and spend significant time and effort in attempting to clear the drain. I expected to pay him for his time and effort. WOW! I found him to be honest, prompt and professional. I have recommended him to my friends, family and neighbors. He is #1 on my list for plumbing service should I need it in the future.

I called and left a message and Jay called me back shortly thereafter. I made an appointment for the next day at 10 am and he was there promptly at 10 am! He worked quickly, carefully and was very nice. I was extremely happy with the work Jay did and thrilled when he handed me a bill that I had to look twice at because I was expecting it to be more!

Left a msg. on his answering machine Tues. morning; he called back around noon. Based on his advice, we went shopping Tues. eve.; left another msg. for him on Weds morning. When he called back we set up an appt for Th AM, a fixed time, not a 1, 2, or 4-hour window. He showed up right on time, clean clothes & truck, & all the tools & supplies need, completed the job right. This is the 3rd time we've had to call a plumber for different things at this house; the first 2 did not earn our repeat business. But next time, we'll be calling Jay again. One minor surprise: The bathroom fixture we bought was missing the handle cover (the top of the globe,covers up the screws)& also the paperwork, even tho it was a sealed box. Unlike us non-plumbers, Jay didn't need the instruction sheets, so didn't notice the piece was missing until rest of the install was complete. Rather than de-install & return to the store, we called the mfg & asked them to send the cover (been waiting 1 week).

Excellent! Jay arrived 15 minutes early to my home in the Hayward Hills right when I was getting home, and completed the job in an hour. That included going to the hardware store to pick up an elbow connector I told him I had, but I had got the wrong size. Jay is a very friendly and personable guy, and he listened to my concerns about space in our laundry room, and offered to shorten the length of pipe sticking out of the wall and install elbows on both the pipe and dryer hookups so I could push the dryer right up against the wall. Some guys might have hemmed and hawed about helping me maximize my space and lectured me about leaving more space in back, even though the manual says 0cm clearance is needed in back. But I felt like Jay was on my side the whole time, and did all that was possible to maximize my space, and I couldn't be happier with final result. I programmed Jay's number on my cell phone for whenever I have another plumbing job.

Jay returned my call in a timely fashion and we set up an appointment for that afternoon. He arrived on time. He immediately set to work (charges by the hour)replacing the faucets in the garage which had begun to leak. He knew exactly what to do and was prepared. He was friendly and professional. Then he replaced the flappers in each toilet (they had been slowly leaking a long time), and replaced the handle on one. Also pointed out a slight crack in one toilet tank and said to keep an eye on that (it could get bigger). Then he turned the water back on and tested all the work. I wanted the washing machine hoses tested because I had put them on myself and they were cutting off when the water was turned on. He discovered the problem (too much pressure for the flood control device) so he took out the little part and now the hoses and washing machine work perfectly. I was really happy with all the work done and how pleasant Jay was.

We called Jay Thosen to make an appointment on a Friday and he arrived Saturday morning, since neither problem was an urgent matter, this appointment was fine. He advised us that the toilet was quite old and the bolts were corroding and we could not replace the parts. We decided to install a new toilet instead. He also thoroughly lushed out the faucet head which had been clogged by hard water deposits and did not charge for the labor for that. We have used Jay a couple of times in the past and he is always professional, prompt and provides us good work at a fair price. He has over 25 years experience in the trade. I'm am not sure if he does major replumbing jobs anymore but would be the first person we would call to get a referral if that need occurs.
