I'd previously used this firm for re-roofing a lesser-priced rental house a few miles away about 3 years ago, and was keen on locating Jim Hill, who had estimated and supervised that job. Generally I try to locate contractors who are local, which is why I had them bid on that earlier job. Jim was thoroughly honest in his assistance with choice of materials, being realistic about a reasonable selection, not trying to up sell me to a costlier product. He not only had helpful suggestions about the job, he responded to my concerns about the potential mess in the attic from tear-off of the badly deteriorated composition roof by crawling through the hot, dirty and cramped attic space to help me spread heavy plastic sheeting to contain and prevent the mess. When I contacted him about coordinating the removal of the debris, he had already completed it himself. The job was completed professionally and they corrected a few flaws in the earlier roofing.
In this most recent job, Jim was again helpful in my specification of materials and approach. This time it was a selection of a metal
roofing material that somewhat resembles the original heavy shakes, which requires a different installation methodology. I'd had concerns about some inaccessible entry points that had led to a rat infestation and he helped me inspect, both inside and outside, the conditions and how to address them. He coordinated the tear-off schedule such that I could work on those issues as well as opening up a few extra ports from above so that I could remove and replace soiled insulating material. After 3 days with the roof open for our DIY work, they completed the installation of the new roof. Jim pointed out some improvements I could make myself to improve the attic ventilation, including showing me how to add more screened ports (not part of the job). I'd made the decision to replace all the rain gutters, and Jim volunteered to transport several reusable sections of gutter for me to use for an improvement to a structure at my house. That was a bonus.
We are extremely pleased with the work of this company, which has about 6-8 employees in their San Jose operation, which I'm told is part of the larger company in Los Angeles. I'm confident other customers will have the same kind of positive experience, although few will likely have the occasion to use them more than once. They really care about providing a useful service.

They were really good and speedy. They cleaned up very nicely afterwards. The guarantee on the roof will outlast me, which is 50 years. They were fairly responsive. They were punctual. They were professional. I had to tell them a couple of times not to put the equipment on my grass.

Jim gave us a fair estimate and completed the job within a matter of days. They were quick and efficient with very little effort on our part.

Jim Hill did the estimate, answered quite a number of questions, got a good solar installer and ensured that the entire job was completed within 2 days (including tear off) and also coordinated with the solar installer to get the mounts and necessary flashing installed before the metal tile.
They used synthetic roofing paper as opposed to standard tar paper.

The project started on 10/4/2012. There were about 6-8 people came to remove my old roof in less than a day, then two people from another crew started right after that to start removing the dutch gutter, and it was a really tough job but it was done flawlessly. A day later, 10 people from gutter crew came and finished 90% of gutter work in a day while the removal of dutch gutter work was still in progress. It only took then any 3/4 days to finish the roof, and it was right on target. After the project was total finished, the owner came by to walk around the house for the last check.

This was for a rental property, so I was very interested in a solution that was both affordable and that would completely eliminate leaks for many, many years. Found John Marsh to be VERY responsive. I got at least 3 other bids, and John's was not only best cost, but just found his overall responsiveness to be excellent in general. The job took a little longer than I had hoped for (some due to rain, which is understandable, and some due to waiting on materials). I was satisfied with the job - I did ask for a hose off when I inspected the roof as there were shoe marks - but again, the quality of job was good. There was one minor corner that I wanted some adjustment - John came back and got that corner done after I paid - that was great to see (as I'm usually disappointed by contractors not finishing after payment).

.It went very well. They were the only company I could find that had metal roofing. They provided very good quality work and were on time.

They came out in July. It was a good experienced. They were very smooth and on time. The workers were good.

Tear off crew were ready to work by 7:45 a.m. on said date. Communicated clearly with the boss. Well supervised. Took total of 5 days. Excellent job. Only the first day was noisy. Otherwise I continued my daily routines without irritation.

Everything went very well. Jim Hill, our contact at Western Roofing was very flexible and easy to work with. Our job start was delayed a few weeks, due to rainy weather, but they were very good at keeping us posted regarding their expected start date. Once started, the job was finished on time and at the price quoted. The roof and gutters look fantastic! We're extremely happy with the workmanship and the appearance of our new roof.

I am very pleased with their work. Joe did what he promised to do. He also did a roof tune up for the entire roof. He cleaned our outdoor kitchen roof and gutter as well which was not included in the contract.

They were courteous and they were professional. The work was definitely done up to standard and they had good follow through. My one criticism is about their cleanup, as I''m still finding nails and other things around the yard. I've had other roofs done on other homes, so I'm picky.

The experience with the company was pretty good. We were very satisfied with the results of the roof. We really enjoyed working with Gary.
