+ -1 moreThey delivered. They got a plumber out here. Because he didn't have the proper tools or crew with him, the plumber turned off our water and promised to come on Saturday to fix everything. He did it. Arrived punctually. Went above and beyond. This was a major leak from the main line caused by a corroded pipe. It was a big endeavor. While the price to fix that was expensive, I think it was competitive. For the emergency visit on a holiday weekend, the charge was so reasonable that I thought I heard her wrong.
Description of Work: We had a massive leak spewing and drowning our front lawn on the Friday before July 4 weekend. No one who was recommended by friends was willing to come out on the holiday weekend even though it was before 5. Albert Nahman was also closing for the long weekend, but the woman on the phone understood it was an emergency. She checked in with her drivers going home to see if any lived near us and if they could come take a look.

We have rarely experienced this level of professionalism and honesty in any of the repairs we've done to our 91 year old home. And his professionalism extended to his personality; what a pleasant and personable individual! + 1 morePlumber misdiagnosed as toilet needing a "minor rebuild." He did that work, did not sufficiently test his fix, so the bathroom and family room flooded again because the actual problem was a clogged sewer line. He took several hours to unclog the sewer line, which maybe could have been done in 30 minutes from a much closer cleanout, if he had used a camera to locate the clog. He did finally break through the clog which restored temporary use of our plumbing to us. He wanted $300 to come back with a camera after breaking through the clog. Another company (Advanced Trenchless), another day, came out for free with a camera, located the problem, did not try to sell me an expensive whole new sewer line, scheduled and fixed the problem in a few hours by repairing a 3 foot section of the sewer pipe for a very reasonable price. Despite these problems with Albert Nahman Plumbing, we decided to pay them a monthly fee for future discounted (15% discount) work we wanted done (some new faucets installed) and for having them prioritize our future calls because we would then be a regular customer. When we had them and 2 other reputable companies come and give us bids for the faucet installations, after our 15% customer discount, Albert Nahman Plumbing was still 20% higher than the others. I had asked their customer service to send a different plumber from the one who had misdiagnosed the sewer clog problem. Instead, they sent the same plumber, who was not, without my encouragement, going to bid new angle stops and supply lines to replace our 32 year old, original, cheap plastic twist stops installed by the original builder. I wrote an email to Albert Nahman himself, which he encourages on his website, detailing these problems. He said he would look into it but he never got back to me.
Description of Work: Bathroom, laundry room and part of family room flooded. Needed this problem fixed.

Description of Work: I needed the pipe attachment for the hose bib outside my house to be removed (due to it being a non-standard size) and replaced with a standard size pipe. There were some difficulties due to various reasons and it required a careful hand to do this without damaging anything.

+ -1 moreThis is the 2nd time Nathan came over to my condo for plumbing repairs (I specifically asked for him when calling Albert Nahman Plumbing & Heating) and his service couldn't have been any better and faster. He's the ideal service person - 1) arrives on-time, 2) keeps the house clean (e.g. wears booties and cleans up the area when done), 3) gives easy to understand explanations of the problem(s) and repair options (no cheesy high-pressure sales), and 4) polite and nice to work with. Basically, as long as he's working for this company, I will only ask for Nathan for all my plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Replace Garbage Disposal and the rusting pipe connected to it.

+ 0 moreUltimately a GREAT outcome- Excellent quality work, under time constraints, and great problem solving when parts didn't easily fit together and a new sink basin and faucet had to be found and installed- Tony truly did a beautiful, careful and meticulous job and paid outstanding attention to detail on a job where unexpected complications posed what could have been a real PAIN. READ above for details.
Description of Work: Two jobs, a leak in downstairs bathroom sink, under basin, and the bigger job upstairs of which was the finishing of a badly botched bathroom remodel after a toilet flood 6 months ago- I needed plumbing and installation for a vanity, new sink basin on my new bathroom vanity cabinet- I bought the granite counter-top, side and backsplashes, sink basin, faucet, and popup drain stop at Unitile, in Hayward and got a custom oak Cabinet at a Cabinet place in Castro Valley. When the team came to install the vanity and do the plumbing two days ago they got stuck trying to attach the sink basin- not a good fit! , plus no attachments were provided that would work with the granite counter, and the faucet I bought was too tall to fit under the medicine chest! HEADACHE!!! I went with this company because they promised to get this job and a leak repair in downstairs bathroom sink fixed completed ALL IN ONE DAY. But when we discovered these problems this past Tuesday, 2 days ago, I pleaded with them for help, they really came through. Gabriel went out yesterday and found the appropriate porcelain sink basin, better quality than the ceramic one I'd bought at Unitile, and found a choice of 2 great quality faucets that would fit in the tight space with very little clearance! - not quite the same classical/traditional design for the faucet I'd hoped for, but he sent me several pictures and I found the best compromise available- then today, Tony showed up and saved the day! He and Gabriel managed to install the sink even though there were no screws to fit it- Gabe went to the local hardware store, and Tony worked from 1:45 pm til after 6:30 connecting the sink, faucet, did a beautiful job on the plumbing, all good metal materials, none of this plastic that will crack, strip or break in the next few years- and Tony even finished the bathroom floor trim beside the vanity, attached the toilet roll holder and clipped the toilet screws and put on the plastic caps! I've lived without a sink in the upstairs bathroom for 6 months, but really wanted to have this stuff repaired for guests by end of this week and Tony and Gabe made it happen.

+ -1 moreThey just serviced us today, they serviced us this morning. We’ve had two recent visits with them. They’ve done an adequate or good job but we are a little concerned about the prices. It seems a little high. My wife in particular is a little bothered by that. We just found it maybe a little expensive but they’re very competent. They did some work for us today and did another job for us about 3 or 4 months ago. In both cases I think we used one of your online coupons to reduce the payment a little bit. The total was $317 and that was with the $20 discount that we got from your coupon. He was here for less than an hour and he didn’t really have to, I don’t think, there’s no listing here for parts but if there was a part it was more like a large washer or something because there was a leak. I don’t think parts were very significant. It had just a very slow leak around the base of the toilet and we would notice after several days that there would be moisture there. It’s a little early to tell if the leak is gone, but I think he knew what he was doing.

+ 1 moreThe office staff are always excellent communicators. The service technicians are always on time and friendly. I was very pleased with the service received for the drain clog and the direct vent heater replacement. As for the water heater replacement, I was not happy with what I felt was an attempt by the estimator to convince me I had no other option but to upgrade to tankless ($7K). After getting the job completed by a different company + inspected ($1500) I sent unfavorable feedback via email to Albert Nehman Plumbing. The owner called me personally right away. As a result, despite my frustration with that one incident, I have not written the company off. The owner clearly takes pride in his business and cares about his staff and customers. If I have any plumbing or heating needs in the future I will contact Albert Nehman Plumbing again.
Description of Work: 3 different jobs over the course of a year: drain clog (completed), direct vent heater replacement (completed) + water heater replacement (bid only)

+ -1 moreNot pleased with the quote being exorbitantly high. Brother is a plumber in the tri-valley... the ask for the job I was requesting was highway robbery. For what they wanted for just two pipes in the bathroom and associated work, I could have the entire house repiped. They either thought I was stupid or they just didn't want the job.

+ -1 moreYou call them and they say they will be there, you know I figured it would take a couple of days for it to get done. But by the end of the day I had a new hot water heater. It was all done. They came out that day, and looked at it and said you need a new water heater. It's this part, replacing this part is too much and you should just get a new one. I figured it was going to take days, and we had hot water by the end of the day. It was just like"Were done now", and i was like really. They were nice, and polite. They cleaned up their mess, and were kind of just all you wanted those people to be. They are a pretty well known and established name around here. They have been around a long time. You pay a little more for the name, they could be cheaper. But you are buying reputation so you pay more. I don't feel like I over paid, but I could have went with someone else for less. I don't think like that is a criticism, but I feel like I got what I paid for. If something goes wrong I will call them again.
