Overall went well. Plumber was very good at his job. On one of the faucets because the pipe extruding from the wall was made of copper and short, it took a while longer to do. Plumber was courteous and prompt. I had purchased a $139 coupon but the job cost me $120 more which was a surprise.

To add to the joy of the experience, there was a $50 charge for the estimates.
Description of Work: After hearing the quoted prices I decided I could muddle my way through the repairs myself. The one thing I thought I couldn't do was to install a shower head on a bent pipe. I agreed to pay $175 to have that done - I had the shower head, so this was the cost for labor only. When the guy went out to his truck for tools and came back carrying nothing but a couple of wrenches, I told him I thought the pipe needed to be cut off and re-threaded. He said the pipe was ok, and I re-checked it, and son of a gun, it was fine. He was gonna charge me $175 for screwing the d*** shower head onto the pipe! Outrageous! Unless you have more money than sense, Albert Nahman is not your go-to guy for plumbing. He also was going to charge me over $300 to set a toilet which I was providing. Unbelievable!

The work itself took one hour. They had coded the job as a four hour job, to allow for extra time depending on the job. The job cost over $550, the price for a four-hour job. When I spoke with the manager he would only refund the $49 service charge. I told him it did not end up being a four-hour job, it was a one-hour job, and I wanted to be charged for the one-hour job it was. He refused. I wrote the owner, Albert Nahman. It took two emails to get a reply and he did not agree that the charge should be adjusted down. Instead he said he would refund me $100 and he told me to find a new plumber. I will add that I have given Nahman plumbing a lot of business over the years (new furnace, sump pumps, major kitchen and bathroom jobs, etc) and this was his way of treating a longtime customer.
Description of Work: Installed a small Multipure water filtration canister under my kitchen sink and hooked up to water supply. The plumber who did the work did a fine job.

It went well. Their price was reasonable. We just have to call them back for a leak on the area of the work that they did. We also just checked and there was some wetness under the sink and we thought that had been taken care of. They just came out last week. They have 30-day warranty on the work so we have to call them back and have them complete the work and make sure there's no leak. They have always been very responsive.

I had to change the appointments several times due to conflicts. The office staff, especially Jeff, was extremely obliging. Mike did the estimate. He was very knowledgeable and spent some time discussing options with me. I wanted to purchase my own faucet/sink and he even gave me some tips on that. Jose and Javier arrived on time to do the installs. They were great. Even though they had to leave to pick-up the toilets and my delivery of the faucet/sink was delayed, they finished everything same day. They were friendly, yet very professional. As I was recovering from a medical procedure, there were certain preparations I was unable to do in advance. They were extremely accommodating in handling those themselves. They kept me appraised of their progress & concerns and cleaned up the work areas when they were done. Best of all, everything works wonderfully and the overall cost was within the estimate. I will recommend this company without hesitation. Plan to have them come back to do some plumbing improvements early next year.

It was okay the gentlemen was polite and seemed somewhat knowledgeable. He replaced a couple of valves under our sinks because they were old and stuck but that was about it. It just didn't feel like we got our moneys worth and his estimate for the recommended fix seemed excessive. I will say we tried to fix it ourselves and that didn't go well either.
Description of Work: Not much and the estimate to do what he recommended the fix for our water pressure problem seemed very excessive. I had purchased a "deal" for a couple of hours of plumbing to see what was wrong with the water pressure in our master bath.

What can I say, I've had Albert Nahman at my house about 3 times in the last year. All have been great experiences. This was no exception.
Description of Work: Replaced two toilets. Price includes toilets.
Stanley was the young man I dealt with. He was courteous, knowledgeable & very professional . He put a camera down the pipe and found the tree roots , gave me a thumb drive with the camera images and gave me an estimate for a couple different solutions to the drainage problems. This was my second estimate and it was way below an estimate from another company, so we set up a time for the repair, 4 days away. The day of the repair Stanley was here on time ,the work was done in a professional & timely manner , everything was put back and cleaned up, The pipe repair is guaranteed for 2 years but should last 10-15 years or more. more.

I had a great experience with Albert Nahman Plumbing and Heating. I called on monday and had a service rep to my house on friday morning. The communication was prompt and clear, even got a reminder alert the day before which was assuring as I had contacted several unresponsive and flakey plumbers prior. Tony C. was my service rep and was awesome. Real nice guy who clearly knew his stuff. He exercised the time and patience as opposed to the wrecking ball approach i have experience with other projects. I know from personal experience working construction that most task are effortless with the right tools and approach. Struggling usually leads to more items needing to be fixed. I had 2 problems in different areas. Tony quickly evaluated them, determined 1 had the potential to be a pain and started that one first. It wouldn't give after 10 min of trying so he wd-40'ed it and went onto problem 2. Fixed problem 2 came back to problem 1 and after sitting with wd-40 came right off. And the work area was cleaner than when he arrived. That's called experience and planning folks! The cost was a bit more than I expected, but well worth it for a job done right.

Said was awesome! He saved me tons of money and was most educational about my furnace. I just bought a house that came with 2008 Carrier furnace with a flue that has a crack. I called 3 Heating & AC companies to look at this. One of them was Albert Nahman Plumbing & Heating. In the meantime, my husband bought heat resistent tape and wrapped the pipe. I have a Carbon Monoxide meter (not the one you buy in the Baby store but the one that detects carbon monoxide immediatly and as low as 1ppm). When I measured for Carbon Monoxide all over the furance and pipe, it did not read higher than 2 ppm (which is basically nothing) One company gave me an option to replace a furnace (very expensive + they did not find anything wrong with my current furnace), another company never followed up with the estimate. Said came over with his Carbon Monoxide reader. He could not detect CB either. He explained to me how my furance and AC work and what to watch for. He sent me an estimate to replace the pipe two days later as he said he would. I asked him how he decided on what kind/size of pipe he needs to use and if this will make everything up to code. He came back. This time he also came brought two carbon monoxide readers and confirmed that my fix does not leak any carbon monoxide right now and how to make sure that my furnace setup is up to code.

We'd been provided a couple educated guesstimates from licensed professionals that put this job in the $2,500 - $3,000 range but wanted to get someone on Angie's List if we could because we usually find them reliable and reasonably priced. Appointment was scheduled to occur just a few days after the initial call. Mon, August 24 - Carlos came out. Was very friendly and helpful. Seemed enthusiastic to provide the bid and promised it would be to us either end of that day or the following. After a follow up call and e-mail, the estimate was e-mailed on the 26th. The bid of $8,450 was almost 3X as much as the highest estimate we'd received. I'd heard stories of contractors that send you bids that are crazily priced because they don't want to do the job or are too busy to do the job but this is the first time I've experienced this myself. We've since gotten a bid from one of the licensed professionals we'd originally spoken with and the bid came in at exactly where he'd originally priced it. Based on previous Angie's List comments, I was rather surprised to have this happen but wanted to be sure that others were made aware of this ridiculous and time wasting practice.. I have not intention of ever having this company do any of my future projects.

I haven?t always had the greatest luck with contractors, so when we finally started doing updates to the house again, I wasn?t exactly looking forward to that part of it. This time around we wanted to replace the old tank water heater with a tankless one. Also replace the two ancient floor furnaces that had been the only source of heat in our little Craftsman bungalow with a central forced air system. Big project and not cheap either. I did my homework. I scoured and studied all the various sites and reviews and came up with four top companies to get bids from. During the bid process Nahman stood out immediately. We were impressed with how responsive they were and that they actually paid attention to what we wanted and made an honest assessment about what could and could not be done. After the initial visit by Said to prepare a bid, Albert himself called me to answer some follow up questions I had. After we talked for a HALF HOUR he said it would require a second look. Then an hour later he came to the house, to look at it for himself! He let us know where a tankless would and would not fit (we wanted to move it outside the house and others had said ?no problem it can fit there or there? etc . . . Albert said ?actually no it can?t be there or there and here?s why?) He took the time to really look at the project and suggest the best options and figured out a different spot where we could put the tankless outside. He also saved us money, initially I wanted a recirculator pump for the tankless to avoid potentially having a long wait time to get hot water. He said unnecessary overkill, I?ll just re-plumb it so it?s a straight line between the tankless and the farthest point in the system, insulate everything and you?ll be fine (he was right we now get hot water as fast and in some places faster with the tankless). The care and attention to figuring out and properly assessing our project really impressed us. After all the bids came in, his was not the lowest but very competitive. And for things like this what you want is not the contractor with the lowest bid but the contractor who will do the job right and well. Nahman was the clear choice for us. So we hired them and I am happy to tell you we choose right. They came in, performed the work on time, as agreed and for the price bid. All of the many workers who came through our home during the week to install the water heater, the ductwork and the furnace were great. They came on time (actually they were always early), kept all the areas neat and clean with tarps and mats, cleaned up after themselves, and very importantly communicated with us regularly. One of the things I really appreciated was the way they would advise us what they were doing and why as well as ask us questions when they needed to. Believe me when people are drilling holes into the side of your house, nailing and pounding into the crawlspace, and cutting more holes in your beautiful oak floors you want to be consulted! I really felt the Nahman crew cared about the job they were doing and went out of their way to make sure things were done right. Shout out to Said, Enrique and of course Albert for ensuring 100% satisfaction. There is so much other stuff I?m leaving out that we were impressed by and happy with but this is getting long, so to sum it up Albert and his crew were just plain awesome and what you want in a contractor. Finally of course the proof is in the pudding, so after the install it was on to the heat efficiency test done by an independent 3rd party (HERS testers) and the City inspections. The HERS test checks for duct leakage, lower is better. This is to make sure that new ducts aren?t just leaking the heat out before it gets to you. The limit is 6% leakage. When they ran the test it was 1.5%, they said they had never gotten a reading that low before. Amazing. Then the City came by, similarly impressed by both the install of the tankless and the furnace and ducts. Really great job. Honestly, this is one of the best overall experiences I?ve had with a contractor. I highly recommend Albert and his company. At this point I am wishing he would consider becoming a general contractor so he can take care of all my home improvement and repair needs!

The tech ran water for a long time and discovered there was nothing wrong and charged me for no repair nor did he use any products or tools. I asked about adjusting a scald guard on my shower which was just as simple as using a screwdriver. And to pour salt in the wound, he sat at my dining table for a long time trying to figure out his new technology on his iPad to invoice me on the time you spent at my house. So the whole visit to accomplish nothing took well over an hour. Huge inconvenience and took a bunch of my money and my time.

Said fixed the leaking pump but noted that there were some hazardous conditions caused by the way the unit was originally installed. Suggested that I call PG&E for a safety inspection. Did so and they confirmed that there were indeed small gas leaks due to faulty and ancient installations. PG&E did repairs and I am getting proposal for repair of the 90 year old gas lines. Really appreciate Said's thoroughness and honesty. Could not recommend anyone more highly!

This was not an Angie's List promotion, but I used this plumber before and thought they did a good job at that time. I called because we had some drainage problems in our backyard last winter and I wanted to prevent it from happening again this winter. First of all they were almost an hour late. Secondly, just to come here and "diagnose" the problem with a video inspection was ridiculously expensive ($189). He told me the snaking would be approximately the same price ($189) and then on the receipt I was charged $234 (in addition to the $189). During the snaking both workers took it upon themselves to shoot baskets (receiving phone calls, and one was constantly texting during the clean out, yet I was told I was being charged for 2 workers for "half a day". They arrived at 9:30 and finished their work around 1:00). I could tell that the one who was doing most of the work (probably the more experienced of the two) was getting more and more frustrated (I don't know if it was with the job or with his partner) and his attitude went from being very cordial to mumbling (and kind of like he didn't want to keep trying to clean it out further.). After the snaking it was determined that the water wasn't going anywhere (great way to spend $400!) and that some rerouting would have to be done. Based on this experience I won't be using them again.

I purchased a discount service through Angie's List for the repair of two leaky faucets. The service tech was unable to remove the leaky cartridges and wanted to remove the faucets and take them into the shop for repair. When adding up the estimate for that the total amount approached $1000. I told him I could buy a new faucet for alot less than that price online and we parted company. I purchased a complete new faucet for 1/4 of the cost. Before I installed the new faucet I decided to try to remove the cartridges myself, which I did. I made the repair myself with 2 new cartridges for $30. I was able to return the new faucet but spent $16 on shipping. While the tech was here I did have him replace an o-ring in the shower wand (I already had the parts on hand) of the bathtub faucet which cost me an additional $45 above the deal on Angie's List ($139 for $200 worth of work). I spoke with Mr. Nahman about crediting me back some of the expense for not being able to repair the faucets, which was my primary concern. He felt we were even because of the wand repair. However, I don't. I feel like these Angie's List deals are an opportunity for price gouging once they get into your home.

I don't usually write reviews on anything. But in this case, I had leaking waste pipes dumping water in my crawl space, and this caused a big delay in finally getting it resolved. I assume Albert Nahman Plumbing and Heating does good work, but in this case, I didn't see the expected results. My wife ended up calling a local guy, who had it resolved, for a good price, within 2 days.
Description of Work: These guys were very responsive at first. I had to reschedule on short notice, and they responded right away changing the appointment to a time I could make. The problem started after they performed the inspection. The guy was very professional, and didn't appear to over-sell the repair. He took all my information, did a through inspection, and identified the leaking pipes as expected. He then stated that he would take the info back to the shop and create a quote on time and material. I waited a couple of days hearing nothing, and when I contacted them, they were very apologetic and assured me they would respond ASAP. another couple of days passed, and nothing. I contacted them again, and they identified the technician by name and said I would have a quote by the end of the day.
