Sotero Fernandez Tree Service

I would highly recommend Sotero and his company. They were incredibly responsive, came out same day to give a quote and were ready to go the next day. Compared to other companies, his price was less and the quality was great. Had a tree fall that had to be cut up, and had three huge old oak trees that needed thinning. Sotero was familiar with the restrictions on cutting oaks too much in Silverado canyon and knew what could be done. Most importantly of all, the trimming was done carefully with the trees health and form in mind, and the clean up was also fantastic. So end of story, the trees look beautiful, the job was done fast and with care, and Id recommend his services to anyone needing tree work.

Sotero was prompt and professional in making the estimate and with following up. I did not use his services as my wife had another professional that she had previously used and she was more comfortable with a known service provider. Price was not an issue in our making this selection.

Sotero Fernandez Tree Care did an excellent job trimming our Brazilian Pepper tree. They arrived on time, were thorough, and did an excellent job cleaning up. Throughout the process, they asked for input to insure that the tree was being trimmed to our satisfaction. Also impressive, before the workers left the site their office called us to make sure we were happy with the work. We had a great experience and will use this company again in the future.

Mr. Fernandez responded to our request for an estimate the same day that we called. His estimate was considerably less than several others we had already gotten, but we chose his company for both the cost and the fact that Mr. Fernandez seemed to really KNOW what he was talking about with regard to our trees and how they should best be tended to. His crew was ready to do our job the very next day, which we hadn't expected but were delighted to have done. The crew (6 men total) and Mr. Fernandez arrived right on time the next morning with several trucks, a cherry picker crane, and two chopping units to turn our mess into sawdust. They moved heavy things out of the way so we didn't have to (and put eveything back afterwards without a reminder by us!), and worked steadily for about 6 hours. They even did a job for one of our neighbors who wanted a tree trimmed off his roof line, although he didn't request that until later on in the day. At the end of the major work, the crew raked up all the mess on the ground, put everything back where we had it to start with, and left our yards looking great. The next day, my husband went out to do some of our own maintenance and in doing so exposed more of one removed tree's stump than we had previously seen (due to overabundance of leafy mess from years past), and we called Mr. Fernandez to ask him to come back and cut that stump down farther. He sent out his foreman and it was done just as we wanted at no additional cost to us. We were totally delighted with the work performed and with the courtesy and work ethic of the crew. This was not a little job--all of our trees were 30-40 ft tall--and we had one eucalyptus trimmed, three mature ash trees trimmed, a liquid amber trimmed, one smaller ash removed to ground level, one city-encroaching tree limb removed from our back wall area, several cypress trees trimmed and shaped, with all residue hauled away. We would definitely use Mr. Fernandez's crew again, and have removed all other such business' cards from our Rolodex because we won't ever need them again!

1. The initial quote was very fair and they could do the work immediately. 2. The work was completed (multiple trees trimmed and 1 removed). The work seems to have been done well from the tree's current health. 3. The 10% coupon from Angie's list was printed and submitted with the payment based off the initial quote less the discount. Sotero (owner) refuses to accept coupon because it was not brought up prior to his doing the estimate. The coupon did not state that the coupon needed to be presented prior. This does not reflect well on them, it looks like all he would do is simply inflate his estimate by 10 percent and then provide a ?discount.? I am very unhappy with how Sotero has dealt with this. I would have been very understanding and willing to negotiate something, but he is adamant that he needs to be paid in in full and will not accept the coupon. I am very understanding and realize they need to make money, but this type of business practice forces me to make a bad review.

I received an estimate that was 100% higher than the next closest estimate, I did not use Sotero Tree Service.

My husband went out to get the paper in the morning and I heard "Oh my God!". Our huge Ficus tree in the front yard had split in two and half was lying in our front yard and half in the neighbors driveway! Since I knew I had to get it out of my neighbors yard in a hurry, I joined Angie's list that morning and found two companies with good recommendations in the area and called them both. SOTERO FERNANDEZ TREE CARE responded right away and showed up and gave me an estimate within hours. I also received an estimate from another highly rated tree company later that morning and they were higher priced and would not be able to start removing the tree until a day or two. I went with Fernandez. They showed up later that afternoon and worked into the early evening to remove the tree and debris from my yard and the neighbors. They left everything very neat. They had to come back to remove the stumps of the three trees, which took two more trips. They ground the stomps and removed the roots and I had them take out a few bushes around one of the trees. Overall I was very happy with their work. I am really picky and have been disappointed with the vast majority of service people I have hired. Here are the things that I asked that they comeback and do (which they did the next day, and to my satisfaction): - I did have them redo the trimming of the tree, as I didn't feel like it was shaped well and some dead branches were remaining.. - They had left a large root sticking up from the middle of the lawn and they said they had told my husband that they left it there so as to not destroy so much of the lawn. I had them take it out and it did leave a nasty line of dead grass ! - They had knocked over some stones in a stone wall and had removed some rose bushes to access one of the trees in the garden. I had them put the stones back,and replant the bushes. Again they left everything tidy and neat. They spoke English and I would use them again.

Overall they did a good job. I would recommend their services.

They came out but they could not do it because they said it was too far. They suggested to use a local guy, but they could have looked up the map to see where I am before driving up and making appointments, but at least they were honest. They refunded what I had paid. I was not really happy with the situation.

They came out to do an estimate on short notice (same day). They were very professional, fair, and listened carefully to what we wanted. The day of the event (1 month later) they arrived with a crew of 3....called because they were running a little early...did the whole job in 2 1/2 hours. They listened patiently while we tried to figure out exactly what we wanted. The guy in the tree with the chainsaw was very good at knowing how to cut things so they wouldn't damage property or gardening nearby.

Showed up on time, cleaned up

The job was done during the week while I was at work with nobody home. I came home, the job complete and the workers were long gone. About the only thing I can comment on was the clean up was not immaculate, but it was satisfactory. A little dirt on the patio, a few small branches left on the yard, and a few scuffs on the block wall from branches rubbing up against it, no big deal! In all fairness though, they didn't have much room to work with. I only have one entrance to my backyard and the walkway can't be more than 3 feet wide. They had to have a tough time carrying all the stuff they cut down from the backyard into the front. I would recommend them to family and friends.

It went very well. Fast turnaround between scheduling and completion of work. Actual work was done to my satisfaction.

Work was completed today by a crew of 3 and they were very efficient. They worked as a team to make sure the truck parked next to the tree didn't get damaged and did an awesome job cleaning up as they went. I will definitely look to Sotero for any future tree work.

I got three bids from tree case services that I found on Angie's list. Sotero was the second bid and he confidently told me to call him the next day after I got the third bid and he would come over in the afternoon when he had finished another job in the area. His bid turned out to be several hundred dollars less than the others. His crew showed up late in the afternoon. I was concerned that they would not have time to finish the job but they worked quickly, efficiently and professionally and were cone in less than two hours. They removed all the debris and we were very happy to have chosen them.

I was pleased with their work. Their price was reasonable. Four people came out to work and they had brought a broom truck. They did the work very quickly. They did the work as I wanted it to be done. I would use their service in the future too.

Did a beautiful job, cleaned up afterward, large crew, professional equipment, polite and fairly priced. I definitely will use again.

I knew exactly what I wanted. I watched them work and they did exactly what I asked. This was a good value. I was well satisfied. This was the second time they did this work for me. The trees and the job were bigger. The higher cost was still an excellent value.

He cleaned everything up well and was on time as well. He did a very good job. They were professional also. When he got there and started to work, there was a tree growing under the foundation of our house and he cut that down and dug it out of the ground. I had a large Yucca tree that was 8 or 9 feet around the base. He took the most time with that and it was hard work.

THEY HAD A LARGE CREW WITH A LOT OF EQUIPMENT. THEY HAD A CHERRY PICKER AND A GRINDER. HEAVY INVESTMENT IN EQUIPMENT. IT'S NOT A GUY WALKING UP WITH A SAW IN HIS HAND. THEY CUT AND STACK THE FIREWOOD NICELY, WE HAVE A SUBSTANTIAL SUPPLY. I'VE USED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND I WILL USE THEM AGAIN AND RECOMMEND THEM. THEY COME WHEN I NEED THEM. THEY'RE AROUND AND DO A CONFIDANT JOB. THEY DON'T HAVE ANYBODY FALLING OUT OF TREES WHEN THEY'RE UP THERE, AND THAT'S A MAJOR PLUS AROUND HERE.
