After much discussion I changed my mind. I was moving to a new town and realized that their location was too far from my job. Also they expected me to "get rid of" two of my cats. I gave them over three weeks notice of moving in, never signed a lease, and they refused to refund any of my deposit. I am a single mother of two children - this company is completely heartless. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM!!!!! I will NEVER do business with these people again and I want to help prevent others from having the same problems.
Description of Work: There were going to be managing a property I was interested in renting.

When we first moved in on December 1st, 2008. Things were ok. We made the typical list of things that needed to be fixed through out the house. We submitted them to the office. We then went on vacation to MN where we are from. (my husband is in the military) Before we left they asked me if it was ok for maintenance to come into our home while we were gone. My husband said no. Flash forward to January. TLC's maintenance man calls my husband and says something along the lines of this "I need to get this work order done, so I need to get into your house, ya know....I can just go get Paul (tlc manager) and get him to let me in your house" to which my husband said "no we do not want you in the home while we are gone" I called tlc and complained to them about their maintenance man threatening my husband. They assured us that they were sorry and he shouldn't have spoken to us like that. Needless to say, most of the items on that work order were never completed. In February of 2009, my sink leaked and flooded my kitchen floor. They sent a plumber, and they said it was the reverse osmosis system that had leaked. He fixed it and left. Shortly after he left it flooded again. He returned and supposedly fixed it. The week of July 4th, I came home from a night out to my kitchen flooded yet AGAIN. I called tlc that next morning and left a message for them to call me back, and that my kitchen was flooded. That afternoon, Paul called my phone and left a very rude message. In which he stated "Next time you call me leave your number. Then I won't have to travel 1/2 a mile out of my way to get your number just to call you back." He stated he will look into getting a plumber out to the house. Near the end of his message he so rudely reminded me "When you call....leave your number. If you leave a message....leave your number" Might I add that when I called the OFFICE it was during business hours, therefore didn't think I would need to leave a number since there are people in the office.? A couple days pass, and we hear nothing, the night before July 4th my husband calls again. Paul tells him that he is gonna get a plumber here by Monday. During this time, we do not have filtered water for our toddler to drink, or for our ice maker in the freezer. Monday rolls around. my husband calls them at about 10:30 am and asks whats up. Paul isn't in the office and the woman who answered the phone said she would have him call us. 12:30pm. I decided to call Paul and see what was up. This is how the phone conversation went: Me: Hey paul. this is (my name). Just calling to see whats going on with the plumber, and how soon he is going to get here. Paul: Didn't you just call here a half hour ago? Me: Umm no my husband called like an hour or so ago........I'm just wondering whats going on because we haven't heard anything. Meanwhile I am here with a toddler and no water. Paul: Well I said I was working on it, its not like this is an emergency. Why don't you buy bottled water? ya know.......the owner doesn't even have to get this fixed. He might decide to just leave it and not pay for it to be fixed. Me: I would like to know why you are so rude to me? My husband calls and you are all nice and respectful but then when I call you, you get rude. I don't understand that. Paul: its not a matter of being rude....I told you I was working on it, and I am. Me: did you not tell my husband you were going to have a plumber here today? (Monday) Paul: no I never said that. Me: fine, let me know what happens. good bye I later left for a vacation home to MN until July 25th. When I returned home my husband informed me that yes, they decided they didn't want to pay to have to reverse osmosis system fixed. A man came out and told tlc that the first time they had it "fixed" the plumber broke one of the filters therefore the whole system needed to be replaced. Now I know that a reverse osmosis system isn't like an ac unit that is an emergency or an extremely important need. BUT in my eyes. If I am renting a facility with amenities that are shown and promised to me while agreeing to the property it only seems fitting to keep them up and running. I mean you can't just rent your property out to people, and not expect to be responsible for the utilities if they break. Another run in I had with them was this. One day a man showed up at my door saying TLC hired him to fix the air conditioning. I was confused because I didn't send in a work order for that, but i guess the owner wanted to make sure it was working correctly. The man did his work, and as he was leaving told me. In about 3-4 weeks you will need to wash out this ac filter. Otherwise it can cause the entire ac system not to work. He showed me how and I said "ok sounds good....thanks for telling me because tlc never ONCE mentioned anything about that needing to be done to the ac" About a week later, I get a copy of the bill from that man in the mail. On there TLC wrote me a post it note. "Next time YOU will be responsible for this bill....." Im like WHOA what?! Ya if I negligently didn't take care of something and that caused it to break, well ya I understand. BUT when you never informed me of the certain kind of care an ac unit needs...that is YOUR problem not mine. Needless to say, we are NOT renewing our lease. I refuse to talk to paul or themise any longer, my husband deals with them. I want others to realize the type of treatment and disrespect you will receive should you choose to rent OR hire TLC Management.
