A few weeks ago, the company called and spoke to my husband to set up a time to change out the filters. The person did not show up at the time scheduled so we cancelled. Today I had someone else come out from another company and discovered I had no filters to change. He also commented about the installation of my unit and stated he hoped I hadn't been taken. I asked him what he thought a unit should cost. He told me his company's top of the line model was $1600 including installation. He was taken aback when I told him we paid $5000. Apparently Puronics of AZ is in the practice of taking advantage of new people to the area who are not familiar with water softeners. I did not receive value for the price paid. Lesson learned.
Description of Work: Moved to Phoenix into a new house. Received a card to call for free gift. Salesman came to the house and presented Puronics Water softener. He told us ALL the water in the house would be soft from ALL outlets, even the outside. Coming from an area of the country where water softeners were not needed, we were not very knowledgeable about the systems. On the day it was installed, the installer wanted to also put a filter under the kitchen sink and drill a hole into the new granite counter. Again, not being familiar with softeners, I questioned the need for this if the main unit was a wonderful as the salesman had presented. The installer agreed, also he had reservations regarding drilling into the granit. A month after installation, I had someone from the company come out to test the water. The cold water in the kitchen was not softened. I questioned why and was told by this person who works for the company, that I was not connected to the cold water and a line would need to be installed from my attic to the unit in order to have the water softened. I felt I was misled during the original presentation and wrote to the BBB. Soon after, the own of Puronics of Arizona called me at home and yelled at me for contacting the BBE.
