First off let me state that you can not get an authorized installation of this company's product in Indiana as of Jan 24, 2012. Second, I had installed their 64K grain water softner in 2009 and their KR15 reverse osmosis system on Oct 24, 2011. A contract plumber came out and did the installation of both units. A different plumber each time. This more relates to the field Representative Jeff Coxx and Kirby Brothers Plumbing than to Lowe's. I want to say Lowe's has been exceptional during this whole process. I want to start off the story by who I got my information from and who mymain contact was - a sales representative at Lowe's. I asked my questions to them rather than the field rep. The lowe's employee seemed to know what she was talking about so I went and made my decisions based off of their information they relayed to me. I was later to find out that the Lowe's employees in the region for that department was not given adequate training because of a regional manager said no to the field rep for Krystal Pure. So based off of faulty information that I did not know was faulty at the time I proceeded to purchase a KR15. I added an Icerun because I was told it was good up to 60 feet. This is the point of consternation here. The plumbers (recommended by Krystal Pure and authorized by them) came on October 24, 2011. They installed the system but told me the run to the refridgerator was too long and were not going to install it. I promptly went back to Lowe's informed about this and was told to talk to the field rep. The field rep gave me a number to a different plumber and was told to ask about installing a "booster pump". Upon discussing with the other plumber about the booster pump the guy tried to tell me to gut my system and install something completely different. This would have voided the warranty. I promptly called the Krystal Pure rep back and told him that this guy was trying to scam me by getting rid of the Krystal Pure product and installing his own. The next step was to have the owner of Kirby Brothers plumbing come out and look at the problem and give feedback to Jeff Coxx. Jeff Coxx never stepped foot in my house til this day. Upon discussing this issue with Dave Kirby, I found out he installed Vanities for Lowes. So the solution Dave Kirby suggested was that I install a new KR10 in a closet behind the refridgerator. The cavat was that I must install a vanity as well. To me this was fishy from the moment he told me that he would install the KR10 only upon a vanity being installed. This went from a 60 dollar icerun install to over 675 dollars installation (at half off per Lowes). This whole thing sounded fishy and still is. Upon discussing this with Jeff Coxx, he basically said this was not a "standard installation" and that he would go with whatever the plumber recommended. A standard installation was under the sink. Basically, Jeff Coxx wanted to wash his hands and not be responsible for the installation. He is just concerned with selling the units, could care less about the consumer. I contacted corporate customer service. They had not heard about this at all. When I brought this up with Jeff Coxx he basically said they did not know what they were talking about and had never stepped foot into my house. But Jeff Coxx never stepped foot into my house as well. I tried to get a reasonable resolution through Krystal Pure both through their corporate office and their field rep. They are the meaning of customer no service. I was given two plumbers and both tried to take advantage of the situation in which to make money off me. (Kirby Brothers wanted to redo some plumbing to tie my kitchen cold water faucet into the water softner. This is on top of the 675 dolar solution he proposed.) I will no longer do any business with Krystal Pure, Kirby Brothers Plumbing or that other plumber. I will be finishing this install with the help of Lowes team and then and only then when I go through Lowes to get replacement parts to maintain and upkeep the current products I have.
Description of Work: Installation of a reverse osmosis system with attached icerun. Icerun has yet to be installed as of 3/15/2012.
