In general, the quality of the work wasn't very good. Aesthetically, it is less than pleasing. One of the screaming problems they had technically was that they used a car jack (the upright kind) to jack up the air conditioner on my roof rather than professionally removing and replacing it. Then when we had problems with the air conditioner leaking (both water and air) because it wasn't set right the owner said it wasn't his problem. After he was unconscionably rude to me on the phone, he reluctantly agreed to fix the setting of the air conditioner. The first guy he sent out to look was an honest A/C guy who listed all the problems with it and he told us that Aladdin was responsible to fix it. Instead, the owner had some other guy come out and put a nail and some rubber stoppers underneath and that was the "fix." My husband had to fix the air leaking from the elbow joint where they dislocated it from the roof. Then they had the audacity to charge me for the "removal and replacement" of the air conditioner. They also charged me $151.00 to comb out the fins on my air conditioner. Even though they never did that. I paid for that myself prior to hiring this company. I have the receipt. And I have showed it to them a number of times. Billing me once, I can understand the mistake but repeated false charges I cannot understand. They also reused my old tiles that they had popped off my roof. The tiles that were broken when removed they replaced with some tiles that were taken from another job. So they don't even match the color of my old tiles that are sun faded and have old grout all over them. One of their office workers told me they didn't get paid for new tiles. I have the adjustors report and it says otherwise. Oh and the best part of that is they fraudulently or inaccurately charged me hundreds for all new tile. They left broken pipes in the roof and we had to tell them to replace them, because they weren't planning to. They were just going to leave them in and give us a check back for them when the job was done. Our insurance company was paying for new pipes not deliberate deception. They backed into all of our awnings on one side of the house. They ruined a privet hedge that has been there since the 1940's. And they left garbage and nails everywhere. They dumped their supplies on my front lawn for three weeks in June and completely ruined our grass. Then they used our driveway as a storage depot for other supplies that eventually trickled out a piece at a time for weeks following the "completion" of the roof. Yet another problem we have faced because of Aladdin is one of our former sales men emailed us and told us that he would put a mechanics lien on our house because Aladdin had not paid him. Not only us, but also he emailed a number of other customers with the same threats. I contacted and was contacted by some other homeowners; nobody had anything nice to say. The saga continues... At the beginning of this year, we found out (after paying two plumbing companies, replacing the toilet, cleaning up sewage, digging up the back yard) that Aladdin covered up the air flow pipe in our bathroom that caused us almost $1,000.00 in repairs, replacements and time. They fixed that and put in the pipe after a letter to the BBB and they said they would deduct all of those expenses from our final bill. They still have not. It has been months. Unsurprisingly, Aladdin's billing department is so unorganized. They claim to have 20 years of experience but they don't know how to read contracts. If you can believe this, the last invoice I received was an inaccurate and nasty "You better take care of this or we will negatively effect your credit" invoice and they tacked on a late fee, just for good measure. I was livid and I could not believe they (who cannot figure out that the "new tile" line on the insurance document means they are supposed to buy new tile, or that the amount I am supposed to be billed is the amount on my contract, or that when you say, "I will remove that from your bill" then don't) would have the nerve to charge me a late fee because they continued for months to send incorrect documents to my lender. Oh and they also sent me copies of their employee payroll. I have no idea why, I assume because there is lots of confusion in the office. When I responded to this inaccurate and frivolous invoice (which by the way wasn't even printed on their letterhead) I get a ridiculous email from the head of accounting (the one with 20 years of experience who can't read and follow the terms of our contract) that says she is "done playing games" with me. Had I known this was a game, I would have played along sooner. I have spent hours and hours trying to get them to do the right thing. I have lamented, cried, pulled my hair out and I have been openly hostile and rude which is not really the way I am. This company has brought out the worst in me. And she called it games. The accounting department has (in addition to everything else listed) lost checks, billed me the wrong amount (and taped the wrong amount to my door), left a check here until it almost expired, had direct access to my mortgage company (and still couldn't get it right) and yelled at me on the phone. I re-filed my complaint with the BBB and I filed a complaint with the Registry of Contractors. Aladdin has not responded to either of those complaints. I have filed to proceed with formal charges brought against them with the ROC. They have not replied to that either. I have a final check that I finally got from escrow because (imagine angels ahhhhing from heaven) they finally managed to fill out a piece of paper correctly. It took SIX months for them to fill out ONE piece of paper with the correct contract amount so we could get that last bit of money in escrow. And only after I told her in an email how to fill out the paperwork correctly. However, I am still waiting for a final and accurate bill, that deducts all of the items they fraudulently/inaccurately billed, the thousands they owe my husband, and every cent we paid in regards to the bathroom. We had our one-year anniversary with them in April. This has been going on for more than a year. I have begged and pleaded but nothing has worked and the owner has yet to step up and figure out what is going on in his office(s?) and offer some sort of resolution.I can't speak with anyone there, especially not the owner who was rude and nasty to me on the phone. When he came to my house he wouldn't even speak to me. He sent his secretary who couldn't read insurance documents to speak to me. My husband cannot hear and he wouldn't communicate with my husband. At this point, I don't trust them to do the right thing. The most horrible part of all of this, we went with them because they were local. We are very big on supporting local companies. They are an Arizona company and we really love to support our community. We checked them out on the BBB website and they had an A+ rating. And we also checked the ROC website and they had had no complaints so we felt confident hiring this business. We liked our sales men, yes, there were more than one. The work itself isn't impressive but I am over that. It is the treatment we have suffered from the owner and the head of the billing office since that is really shameful and I wouldn't wish this nightmare on anyone. Oh and by the way, we're still finding nails... ***UPDATE: We have still not been paid by Aladdin. We finally got a final invoice (we have never received a final accurate bill, remember the last bill we had was shamelessly padded and full of blatant inaccuracies) from them showing that we owe nothing and it even shows that they owe us more than $7,000.00. We submitted that final invoice to our mortgage company. But the invoice is so unprofessional looking, they called Aladdin to verify that the invoice was from them. They avoided the mortgage company's repeated calls for two weeks then finally sent me some kind of "Agreement" that I was supposed to sign and return to them before they would call my mortgage company so that I would get my funds. I told the mortgage company that she wouldn't call in because that's just the type of company they are. Sure enough, she actually emailed me and told me she wouldn't call until I absolve them from everything by signing and returning this "Agreement." Part of their "Agreement" that they sent was that I was to remove any and all complaints against them. Hold them liable for nothing. And ask for nothing. And apparently I won't see any money until I sign it. It also absolves them from all debt to me. Yet they want me to sign it before I am paid???? This stinks of coercion. I had just received an email from the BBB stating that Aladdin had contacted them and stated everything was fine. I forwarded the copies of the most recent communications and made sure they understood everything was not fine. Aladdin apparently told the ROC that everything was resolved, I have forwarded their recent demands to them. I had to file additional requests to look into this behavior with the Attorney General's office (for breech of contract and possible extortion) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, IC3 Division (internet crimes division). The fact is they owe me a lot of money and now I have to hire an attorney because of their "games" (their word, not mine). She actually played stupid today and said that she did get one call, but she called back. Odd, I was on the line, 3 way calling, and they left several messages and I heard every single word. And the mortgage company has no record of her call. Aladdin actually had the nerve to ask me what I didn't like about the "Agreement" and asked for my feedback as it "isn't set in iron clad." I don't even know what that means.
Description of Work: Replaced shingle roof. Also added new plywood sheets at additional expense.
