My 25 year old warhorse AC quit. My first search was "Best hvac Tempe" I got a few hits but after checking Yelp I chose Arizona Cold Air. Boy, I'm glad I did. Wayne was out to my house in hours. Quoted me a price lower than I expected for a unit better than the one I had researched. The unit, crane and crew were out the next day. Up and running in hours. Cold air! I couldn't be happier. One of the owners, Mark came over to check to work. I was very impressed. I don't think it's possible that Mark would allow anything other than a great job. It's easy to see how Arizona Cold Air rates so highly. A pleasure to business.

Arizona Cold Air is simply the best. Why would anyone go elsewhere? I have 3 a/c units on my house and they have replaced two. They offer fair prices and excellent work quality. Their service department is also excellent.

From scheduling to installation, everything went really well. The person that gave me an estimate was very professional and did not try to push me into something that I didn't need. Scheduling was a piece of cake, in fact they came out the next day. Can't beat that when it's a 105 out. Installation, even though it is an older home went pretty quickly. The crew cleaned up really well. So far no complaints with the new until. Price was competitive, $1100 cheaper than one estimate and pretty much the same as another. Based on my experience so far, would definitely use them again.

As the temperatures soared our A/C moaned. The screeching and scraping metal on metal lasted for half a day. Then subsided, we thought all was well. We had places to go and people to see, so we left. When we arrived home, it was a toasty bungalow with the thermostat reading 90 degrees.
We phoned AZ Cold Air first thing in the morning. The pleasant office assistant stated she would have a tech at our home between 1-4. About 1:30, Tom showed up with a clean company truck. He took a look at the unit and came back with some different options. One of the options was a new unit since our unit is very old and has been serviced in the past.
He needed to leave briefly to get a part and came back to complete the job. His repair was effective and we have cold air at this time.

We have used Mark at Arizona Cold Air multiple times in the past 7 years. The most recent was just a service call. One of our first opportunities was for a service call. About a year later our air conditioning quit working (as we were leaving on vacation) and he was very responsive to come out within a few hours and check it out. We actually left our key with him so he could determine the problem. While we were gone, he accessed the problem and called us with enough information to make an informed decision that was in our best interest. We decided to replace our aging unit rather than repair it. It was working perfectly by the time we got home. While he was here he even put some oil on the sliding glass door when he noticed it was difficult to open/close. I don't recall the exact price to replace the a/c unit but at this point, I know we have gotten our monies worth. I learned along time ago that price is not the only quantifier when I bid a job.
We will definitely use him again and have recommended him to friends and family.

I really can't say enough good things about this company. I contacted them as they were a well reviewed contractor on Angie's List and also highlighted as a certified contractor by the manufacturer of my AC units, Rheem. We installed two new Heat Pump Package Units during the summer of 2010 and have had nothing but problems with one of the two units. After multiple issues and attempted repairs by the original install company for the first year following install, we moved on to another AC repair contractor. After two years worth of on and off service and over $1,500 worth of labor costs replacing multiple components, we decided to move on to yet another contractor when we began having problems again this summer. Arizona Cold Air communicated with me extremely well and spent time reviewing our AC unit history with a direct Rheem rep before even visiting our home. Once they were armed with the history, the tech came to our home to check out the issue. He found what seems to be a pretty simple fix at this point and didn't charge us because of our long and frustrating history with this unit. We have our fingers cross that we won't be dealing with any further issues. I'll certainly be recommending this company to all of our friends and family.

We called this morning at 7:15 AM and left a message with their answering service. They returned our call before 8:00 and said they'd send someone out this morning (the same day) between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
Marcos, their technician/repairman arrived at 9:30 AM, he tested the AC unit outside and found out that it was low on freon. He said that the heating unit sometimes freezes up when this happens so asked if he could climb into our attic to check on the heating unit. He found that the coils on the heating unit had been damaged because the freon level was so low and found water was leaking from the coils into the overflow tray in our attic. He said it was about to overflow!
He used his shop vac to empty the tray of water under the heating unit in the attic, and he added freon to the AC unit. He said that this should fix the problem but that the company needs to come back out in the fall when it's cooler and replace the heating coils (once they're damaged like this they need to be replaced).
We asked him about whether or not we needed additional insulation in the attic. He said ours was in great shape--a 9 out of 10 that he's been in--and we really didn't need to add anything, the insulation we have is just fine.
When we asked how much for the service call Marcos said, "Nothing, you're still covered by your 10-year warranty." Hooray for Arizona Cold Air for selling us this great unit in the first place back in September of 2009!
Not only did they come right out, they didn't try to up-sell us on insulating our attic when we asked them about it. We would highly recommend Arizona Cold Air--and Marcos--to anyone!

For a few years we have had Arizona Cold Air service our A/C. When we decided to replace our 16 year old Lennox, we decided to go first to Arizona Cold Air for an assessment and a quote. Wayne, one of the joint owners of the company did a free in-home estimate on Apr-16-2014. He was sincere in his assessment and did not try to sell us on high SEER ratings and tonnage that are too large for our 1800 sq. ft. house. We settled on a Rheem 16 SEER 4 ton A/C.
One of the problems with our house is that a certain front section does not get enough air circulation because of the way the duct work has been done. We discussed an idea that we had learned elsewhere about the use of a booster fan to direct some of the air flow through a certain section of the duct work. Wayne said he would consult with Mark, his partner and the technical expert. The booster fan was also included in the written estimate and work order.
When we decided to have Arizona Cold Air do the installation we called the company and spoke to Amy who has been manning the phones for many years and is easy to talk to. The installation was scheduled for the following week on Apr-23-2014.
The installers did a good job. We have a split system with the A/C in the side yard and the furnace in the ceiling. The plenum air handler in the attic was also replaced. This was too large for the current entry space in the ceiling in the laundry room and there was also a joist that ran close by. They asked us permission before cutting into the ceiling in a different location in the laundry room to move the equipment into place. The very next day we had a person come out to the house and patch the dry wall at no extra cost. The dry wall work was neatly done.
The booster fan's proposed location was a T branch close to the room. The installers found this to be very difficult to access and discussed the next best location, a Y branch further upstream. I spoke to Mark, the co-owner of the company, and he said they could try it to see if it worked. This was not ideal but we decided to go ahead and we found that it did improve things quite a bit. We now do not have a situation where the problem section of the house is warm while the rest of the house is cold.
I strongly recommend Arizona Cold Air for A/C installation.

From the initial discussions regarding the required service and price through the actual service all was handled in a very professional manner. We had been using our previous service provider for many years and decided to make a change. Arizona Cold Air stepped in and provided excellent service, doing many things with their service that had not been done in the past. We plan on continuing to use Arizona Cold Air for our ongoing air conditioning service needs.

It's so refreshing to have an honest and trustworthy company do work for you. Especially when it's something you have little to no knowledge about. Chris came out and took a look at my unit and told me what the problem was. He took it apart and showed me what the issue was and explained how it works and why it wasn't functioning properly. He also showed me a few things to keep an eye on in the future. Here's the kicker though. He didn't have the correct replacement motor on his truck during the initial diagnosis (which was at 4pm in the afternoon) so the following morning he made sure to get the new one from Phoenix and install it at 9am. Now that's customer service at it's finest. I will recommend these guys in the future and continue to use them for my A/C needs.

Wayne, came out to the house to give me an estimate, he was on time and was very straight forward with his assessment. He did not try to sell me more than what I needed. AZ cold Air was on time and the men were very helpful in showing us how the unit was installed and how to operate it. The installation took only a few hours the men on the job were extremely professional and polite. I would recommend AZ Cold Air if you need A/C work done for your house.

It's never TOTALLY painless having to unexpectedly spend this much money, but the service and attention to detail helped! The rep took the time to really educate me regarding my choices, was never pushy, came in with the best price of 3 bids and had installed it in no time. I would highly recommend this company - everyone was patient, professional and timely.
