He started work at the beginning of September and until November 5th I thought everything was going well. The work was slow, but I was okay with that. On November 5th it was brought to my attention that he was working on another property. I approached him about how slow the progress was on my project, about the wood I had purchased and the hole that had not been repaired in my roof. He told me to present any issues I had in writing. I took pictures of the roof where the roof did not tie in to the new wall and was leaking. The next morning I emailed him with the pictures and a written report on the unfinished work. He responded to me that he wouldn't do any further work on my property until we had a meeting to address issues. From November 5th to November 21st, he did no work on my property, but worked on the two other locations instead. We had a meeting on November 10th to address the issues. He said he would provide a schedule of work done, an expense report on the work that had previously been done, and I told him not to pay his employees any more money until we went over the expenses. On the 19th of November, I requested the funding statement the he had yet to provide. I finally brought in other contractors and they started showing me several small mistakes that lead to all of the large issues. The bottom line is there was poor workmanship and I had no idea until the other contractors were coming in. The windows and doors are not square, the studs are questionable, there are leaks around the doors, and they just didn't do a good job. They ripped out the stairs and did not put in any new stairs. According to the guide he has given me, the work is completed.
Description of Work: He remodeled an addition, adding a second story. There were three phases; the first was foundation repair, the second was reframing and moving walls, framing windows and doors, the bathroom, kitchen, outside deck/porch and stairs; and the third is on the second floor that included installing new rafters for roof, new shingles for roof, installing new stairs, and tying in the new roof into the new wall.
