Description of Work: We called Everdry for an initial consult after Thanksgiving weekend 2015. (We bought our house in July 2014, and the previous owners maintained nothing. We had been so careful looking for a house with a dry basement, we did not want to deal with foundation issues in our first home. Or any home, but I digress.) Thanksgiving weekend, we worked overnight, (we work corporate IT for a nationwide retailer), and got home to take a much needed nap. Later I went downstairs to start some laundry, and noticed water by the floor drain, which is near our furnace. I then opened the door fully to the utility room (it was ajar), and discovered the northeast corner of the basement where the sump pump is located had roughly an inch of water pooled around it, and more coming through the walls, almost to the top of the cement blocks. The remaining water was running in a river down to the drain. | |We discussed what to do, if this was anything we could possibly handle ourselves. We decided to call a professional, and my parents recommended Everdry, since they did a great job on a much smaller issue in their basement. | |We got an appointment set for the day after Christmas, and Mike came to our house, looked inside and out, measured moisture levels with a hygrometer, and went through our various options very thoroughly. We decided to go with the hybrid inside and outside option, as it was both mid priced and the one that would permanently fix the problem. | |Everdry offered us a small ($3000) discount to book on a last-minute basis. That just means you have a couple weeks notice as to when the crew is coming, as opposed to months. We took it, since we have the option of working from home, it saved us money, and we don't have much stuff in our basement. Half of it is finished, but we don't have furniture yet in the finished half. | |The Everdry foreman called us at the end of the week prior to the week the work was doing to be done, to introduce himself and let us know what time the crew would be at our house. He also recapped the process, which Mike discussed with us at the initial visit. | |Day 1 was very loud, that was the day our entire basement perimeter got jackhammered up so that the interior drain tiles could be replaced. The crew also dug outside our house, down to the footings where necessary, to replace exterior drain tiles. The guys did a great job keeping the dust downstairs. We shut the furnace off that first day, it also helped, but it sure was cold! The following days I kept the heat on, we had a delightful Wisconsin cold snap. The crew was extremely careful with our drywall in the finished half of the basement while the jackhammering was going on. I was very glad about that. | |After the inside was all jackhammered up, and the old broken pipes were taken away, new ones replaced them, along with clean gravel fill, both inside and outside, and the dirt around the outside northeast corner of our house was regraded. | |After the new gravel was in place, the crew poured portland cement down, it looks fantastic. They did remind us that the carpet needs to stay pulled up in the finished areas until the cement is fully cured. I am hoping that will be in a few weeks, so we can paint downstairs and get the carpets cleaned. It is cracking, that is fine, we were warned that is what the product would do and it is designed to do so. | |Overall, we could not be happier with the quality work that Everdry did. Our only regret is that we needed it done in the first place, but that applies to many things with our house. Highly recommend Everdry. | |I was waiting to write a review until we had some heavy spring rains. So far, the basement has remained dry. Our sump pump has been running constantly since the work was completed, but they warned us to expect that until the walls are all dried out. They were in pretty bad shape, so I am hopeful that the sump pump will run less frequently by summer. |
