It went very smoothly and I would highly recommend them to other people.
Description of Work: unfortunately we waited too long to have this done so by the time we did have it done was a pretty penny but in the end we have had no more flooding in our basement as they took care of everything and so far so good. would someone please get back to me as I know there was a certain setting in the wintertime and a different setting in the summertime or just email me at mountkatmai@yahoo.com

Ugh, I hate to read that, [Member Name Removed]. You're the classic case that I explain to all others when we talk about our canvassing department or our second-call center. We truly do want to get to homes for a free inspection whenever we can, but ESPECIALLY when the symptoms first show up. So many people will be told, "Just add some earth/grading along the outside of the house". Well, if the water has found its way inside the home, the SYSTEM that was there for the house's protection has worn away. That symptom, the defense against water does age, it does erode. Putting earth around the house my stymie the water's path for a period fo time, but it is jus a band aid. Water should not be introduced to the basement walls. Mold, cracking, efflorescence...these all are a result of water, from the OUTSIDE, as gotten through the porous foundation. That water creates havoc and so often the signs are there, telling the homeowner to get help. And that's where are canvassing team or second-call center comes into play. A free inspection can catch the symptoms in their infancy. We can actually solve this issue BEFORE it gets too pricey. Your cost is MUCH higher than our average fix. What if our canvassers had gotten you to have an inspection years ago? And the "nuisance" of our canvassers knocking on doors is definitely our way to EARN business, but it is also a way to get to the issues before they become structural or too far gone for a cheaper fix. Stinks. I know. And I am sorry. That said, you now have a lifetime warranty that is transferrable to WHOMEVER owns your home, long after you've sold it. Worth its weight in gold, I'd say. :) Thank you for the kind words and have a dry spring! Yours, Matthew Flynn General Manager Everdry Waterproofing

[Member Name Removed], HATE to read this! I understand, completely, your thoughts. One company says you should fix, another says don't. If I'm you, I want to side with the company that has the cheapest, easiest fix. That makes sense. What doesn't make sense, however, is grading. Grading is adding earth around the house to keep water from the walls. That said, didn't you have signs of water in the walls already? So the waterproofing that your home was built with to keep water out of your walls and off your floor is no longer working? So just add earth to try to keep it away? But it's found it's way in already. What sense does that make? Yes, the answer of "Your problem isn't that bad. Just add some earth" sounds great, but it does nothing for the foundation but put off the inevitable and does not look after the health of the home. If your roof was allowing water into your attic or into the ceiling below it, would you try to divert the water away from the holes or actually fix the roof? I mean, how old is the roof? If it's 30 years old, it makes sense to fix it. Your basement was last waterproofed when it was built...what 50+ years ago? It makes no sense to put a band aid on the foundation. Lastly, giving us an "F" rating based solely on a FREE, no-obligation inspection is rough. So we inspected your basement, educated you to the issues we found, described all possible fixes-all for free- and we get an "F"? I can understand you don't want to spend that amount of money, but an "F" is a pretty rough grade for all that we did. Keep in mind also that we warranty forever...for the life of the home, transferrable to whomever owns it. You may feel $20,000 is too much, but you get no warranty on a stop-gap measure like grading away from the home. I wish you the best. I want for you to have a safe, dry basement. If you do not do work with us, I get it. That said, we will be here if you ever need us. Take care. Yours, Matthew Flynn General Manager Everdry Waterproofing

Great review to read to start my morning, [Member Name Removed]! Thank you for telling others about your fortunate discovery. You now own a home with a warranty that lasts the life of the home. And just think: when you sell, the NEXT home owner gets that warranty as well. Imagine how much easier it will be to sell your home when you can tell buyers that not only is your basement bone-dry, but if it ever needs any attention, Everdry will be there to service it. Congrats and thanks! Matthew Flynn, General Manager, Everdry Waterproofing

We had someone come from Everdry to have them take a look and see what they think about the situation as well as give us an estimate for the cost to fix the problem. Well holy cow did they hard sell us on some things we did not need. They told us that to fix the issue we would need to get our ENTIRE basement waterproofed, we needed all of the drainage tile below our basement replaced, and not only 1 but 2 sump pumps installed. All for the low low cost of twenty-two thousand dollars. During the entire assessment, I kept noticing comments that the man kept making that were basically comments to scare us into getting the work done. (ie: Well, you know now that you've had this estimate done and if you decide not to do the work but sell your house instead you will be required to take the cost of the basement off of your asking price). Then when we decided to get more estimates for this project because something just felt off and this project felt like overkill. Cue the secretary calling us saying that the manager wants to survey the basement to give us a better deal, and when my husband couldn't confirm a new appointment time for our schedules they would not stop calling us, there was one Saturday morning where we were called 3 times before 9am. The called us almost everyday after that, there was no being polite we just had to flat out tell them "No, we can't afford this work." I don't doubt that had we gone with them they would have done great work, but I cannot get past the bad taste in my mouth of how we were being hard sold.
Description of Work: Since we purchased our house we have had a corner of our basement that has had some dampness, no puddles, no actual leaking, but dampness and we wanted to get it taken care of before it becomes a serious problem.

Gosh [Member Name Removed], that stinks to read! I have to tell you, I DID take a look at the inspection report and I DID get the response from your inspector that you were shocked about the cost. I DID try to find something we could do that would actually fix your REAL issue and be able to warranty the life of the basement...no matter if you sold your home to one new home owner or if it got sold several times. We warranty for life, you see. We have to make sure we actually fix the problem and not put a band aid on it as so many others do in this business. That said, the indications at your home showed that your home has waterproofing issues. There are a TON of stop-gap measures that treat an area or a portion of the basement...which just doesn't make sense when the waterproofing for your home, the system that the home was built with is clearly no longer working. You don't replace a few shingles on a roof when it leaks or starts to show signs of dying. You consider how old the roof is and you take it off and put a new one on. Truly, that is the proper way to fix waterproofing. Instead of solely replacing drain tile on the interior (thus allowing water to continue to pass through your wall) or fixing one area at a time (chasing the problem over years, paying more over time), we prescribe to fix the SYSTEM all at once. And [Member Name Removed], it is not always the easiest to tell someone these things. In fact, it's much, much easier to tell someone, "For $1000-$3000, we could just fix this one little area" though the whole basement shows signs that water has been in the walls. I am really sorry that that felt like overkill. I stand by our assessment, as unpopular as it may be. Sometimes you have to look out for the homeowner rather than tell them what they want to hear. Keep in mind that we warranty for the life of the home, transferrable to whomever owns the home. That means we CAN'T put a band aid on the issue though the current homeowner may really like that cost much more. By the way, basements now get built with two sump pumps when they are over 150' lineal. The drain tile must pitch steep enough to get water to pass all the way to the sump pump. At the time of your home's build, that may not have been the case. However, this is not helping the issue. Again, one more thing that needed to be brought to your attention...despite this reaction online. Please don't shoot the messenger. Lastly, the confirmation process stinks...for BOTH of us. We have been inundated with calls from concerned homeowners and people in need. We are trying to service them all. So frequently one of the people that lives at the home believes they can handle everything and their spouse doesn't need to be involved. We hear this EVERY day. Then we inspect and, most importantly, educate the homeowner so they understand why they are dealing with what they are dealing with and they cannot possibly transfer all of that education to their spouse. We are then called to come back out. With the thousands of calls we are getting, it is just so much better to kill two birds with one stone and CONFIRM that both homeowners will be there. I am sorry this was such a drag. If not for some people that book the appointment and then not show up, we wouldn't have to keep calling. It is hard to run this kind of business. It ends up infuriating good people like you. I am really sorry about that. Listen, [Member Name Removed], I'm sure that now that you have some much lower costing "solutions", you do not want to meet with us. I am still here if you'd like me to stop by and see what I can do. However, if we ever call you back to check up with you, please just tell us to take you off of any calling lists. I will do that on my end. I am sorry to have given you such a poor taste in the mouth. We truly do come from a stand point that fixing it RIGHT and in totality is the ethical way to deal with these issues. As unpopular as it was with you... Take care, Matthew Flynn General Manager Everdry Waterproofing

Everdry solved our wet crawl space problem. The work was done approximately 8 years ago and we have not had water in our crawl space since the work was done. What a relief to no longer have to worry about this problem. The project was expensive, but was worth the money. We no longer have to worry about mold and musty odors plus drying out the crawl space. Job well done!!
Description of Work: We have lived in this house for 30 years and multiple times per year we would have water in our crawl space after heavy rain storms or spring snow thaws. Everdry installed drain tiles and a new sump pump pit in our paved crawl space under our family room and sunroom.

EverDry determined that the bubbling occurred because the weep holes were not drilled deep enough in the wall below the floor line. The team redrilled the holes, replaced the stone, and mortared the floor. The team also dug down on the outside and sealed the wall on one corner that was not accessible when the work was originally done, about 12 years ago. All work was done at no charge because I had been paying the annual fee. My only complaint with this visit is the same as the original visit, the self-leveling mortar used to finish off the floor does not stay flat when it sets. The result is waves and low spots that require a lot of filling and leveling before the floor tile can be laid back down. There must be a better process or material to finish off the floor and keep it flat.
Description of Work: This was a warranty call because the DryLock and paint was bubbling up in a couple spots on the bottom of the wall. The bubbling up was due to efflorescence coming out of the concrete block.

Waterproofing has been successful. I did have water in basement several years after work was completed due to water leaking in possibly from a window. Everdry was called and the problem was taken care of. I have also had problems with the sump pump pipe freezing and the sump pump running continuously due to water not being able to be discharged from the pipe. Everdry replaced the sump pump a few times because of this and I have not had problems for at least two years now. My warranty includes caulking around perimeter of house when necessary. This work appears somewhat sloppy but it has been completed each time I have called in to get it done.

The service was outstanding. Since so many residents needed service at the same time, I was scheduled 5 months out. However, I was offered to be an 'on-call' job. This meant if a resident canceled for some reason, I would be called and then could get my job done earlier. The catch was that I needed to have my basement cleared and ready for them at any time. If there wasn't any cancellations, my job would be done as scheduled. Sounded good to me and I signed up for on-call. To my surprise, I was called earlier than my scheduled time. Apparently, no one wanted their job done the week of Christmas, except me. Since there were no other jobs, two teams showed up at my house. The coordination was amazing. Everyone knew what their role was. They were efficient, pleasant, and respectful. The supervisor consistently updated me on the work being done. My job ended Christmas Eve day and I couldn't have been happier. I made the entire team fudge to snack on while they drove home. That was seven years ago and I am still happy with the service and work completed.
Description of Work: In 2008, I was one of the many residents in Milwaukee County who experienced flooding in my basement. I needed drain tiles inside and outside the foundation of my home, a larger sump hole, and larger sump pump.

The work performed was just fine. But we feel like we were misinformed about what our problem actually was. On 2 or 3 different occasions, we noticed some water in the same spot of our basement after a good rain. We called Everdry in for an assessment. The rep talked to us about some small vertical cracking we had in our foundation, and the long term likelihood of our basement walls cracking and the foundation walls caving. He talked about how the water table in our area (due to a marsh behind our house) was high and when it was too wet (because of excess rain) our drain tiles probably couldn't handle the rising water table. He said water filled up around our basement foundation walls like a fish tank and eventually the pressure would cause them to cave. So because of that, he recommended new drain times. At that point, he had us sold as we wanted to finish our basement and couldn't take any chances on water leaking through the cracks of or basement floor, or heaven-for-bid our basement walls caving. After the work was performed, we continued to get water in that same spot. We called Everdry back and a representative promptly came over. He traced the water back to what he thought was perhaps leakage coming from the patio door behind the house. He thought rain water was getting behind the door, flowing down the basement wall and settling as a puddle on the floor. We then brought out an independent contract who sealed up the door. We sprayed water all over and around the door but there was still water flowing down the basement wall and settling as a puddle on the floor. After several other tests, we found the cause of the problem was a flood light that was not properly covered. Rain water was getting into it (when we had a good, pounding rain out of the North), flowing down the basement wall and forming this puddle. The contractor replaced the cover with a new one that cost $4.99, plus $150 in contractor labor and the problem was fixed. Too bad we had to pay Everdry $20,000 for new drain tiles. After reflecting on this for the past several months, I feel like the rep from Everdry sold us on fear of our foundation walls collapsing and an overall lack of confidence to ever finish our basement. Although we have sincere piece of mind now that all the drain tiles are replaced (as well as a new crock), it doesn't trump the disgust I feel for the sell job we received. In addition, upon looking back at all my paperwork, I don't have a printed name of the rep that came to our house. His signature is scribbled illegibly on all paperwork, and he never left a business card. Makes me feel like he made the sale, but does not want a trace of himself left behind. If you need your basement waterproofed, I think their workmanship is fine. But make sure you have all the facts before committing to the used car salesman that might be representing their company. I think we got fooled and I'm $20k lighter because of it. Shame on me.

It was a huge messy job, but they did their best to minimize the dust (hung plastic sheeting at the bottom of the basement stairs). They cut the concrete around the entire perimeter of the basement, installed drain tiles and whatever else was needed. We had one sump pump prior to the flooding...they replaced that one and added a second one. On the outside of the house, they dug a trench around the entire house, taking the back pressure off the basement walls, repaired the cracks, tarred the walls, then back filled with the trenches with gravel and replaced the top soil without damaging many of our bushes and plantings. They were very professional and we have been extremely happy with the end result. The entire upstairs did get dusty, but it resulted in a good cleaning that was needed anyway. It was a good opportunity to purge things from my cupboards! In the 8 years that have passed since having the work done, we haven't had any hints of dampness in our basement, and the sump pumps have only run a few times. Most often they are bone dry. It is such a piece of mind knowing that we won't have any flooding issues again, but if we did, Everdry would be right over to fix the problem...lifetime warranty for a small annual fee of $49. The cost was really the only negative.
Description of Work: We bought our home in 1978 and never had water issues in our finished basement until 2008, when we had an excessive amount of rain. We had flooding on 2 occasions within a week or 2 where the water was seeping in thru the walls and floor. The fear of flooding with every subsequent rainfall was so depressing. EVERDRY came to our rescue! They looked over the walls and floors very thoroughly and gave us great information about what was happening and what needed to be done. We felt very informed when we agreed to have the work done.

We had issues with the foundation shifting. They dug out around the outside of the house, waterproofed the walls, and installed new drain tiles. On the inside, they installed beams to keep the walls from buckling. They did an excellent job of waterproofing the basement and installing a new sump pump. In both instances the sales staff attempted to way oversell what was actually needed to repair the basement, quoting us almost 20K$ for a full foundation and basement waterproofing. While this is a fair price for the service, that amount of work was simply not necessary to correct our issues. It really felt like the service rep was more interested in selling us services we didn't need rather then address the actual issue. When asked to focus on what should of only been excavation of one wall Everdry flat out refused the job. We eventually had the issue repaired using another contractor at 40% the cost of everdry and haven't had water issue since. Everdry is known for quality work, but they will try to sell you services that you don't need.

Response from Everdry Waterproofing Wisconsin
[Member Name Removed], I am so sorry I am reading about this only now. First of all, I appreciate your honesty in your review. It makes perfect sense that spending $20,000+ to waterproof a basement feels like way too much when you solely wanted one area corrected. I understand that we didn't fulfill your wishes by contracting you to fix one area. That said, I commend our inspectors for NOT contracting you to do a stop-gap "partial" as we call it. Please understand that 27 years in the business in southeastern Wisconsin and 40 years nationally has afforded us so much experience that we simply know that fixing one wall is not really fixing the problem the right way. Please keep in mind that your home was built and then waterproofed with all walls getting the same system to protect your basement...all at the same time. That you are seeing issues many years later in one area does not address that the SYSTEM is failing. I get it. You saw issues on one wall. But to take your money to address that one wall when the other walls will and may have shown signs of issues is not the ethical way to deal with it. We too could have done the smaller amount and taken the money, but please understand that we warranty for the life of the home, transferrable to whomever owns that home. When the problems start showing up on the other walls, our name would be attached to it and we simply do not want it to seem like we do band-aid fixes. If a 30 year old roof leaks in one area, you don't change the shingles just in that area. It is time to replace the roof! And the roof is the waterproofing for the upstairs while our waterproofing is the protection for the downstairs. I'm glad you have not had an issue since and I wish you the best of luck. Please contact us when the other areas fail if you see the worth in having our free, no obligation inspection. Yours, Matthew Flynn General Manager Everdry Waterproofing

Tyler came out the first time and examined the interior basement walls and nearby ceiling and pointed out the mold. Then he examined the exterior basement walls to identify and point out problem areas. He took time to draw a diagram and explain how my foundation was set and where common problems occur for a house as old as mine (100 yrs+). He explained what was likely causing the moisture to get through and cause the mold to grow. He reviewed several solutions for basement waterproofing and covered what Everdry does and the benefits of their service. His quote was in line with what I expected it to be, even though I hoped for a much smaller number and less expensive solution. He explained that there were financing options available to me to help with my budget. Since Everdry was the first to visit, I decided to get other quotes. Tyler's supervisor, Mike, came out for a second visit to verify the information that Tyler provided in the report, answer my questions, and reiterate my options. The solution to excavate a small area around my house, repair and seal the exterior walls, and install interior drain tiles sounded like excellent and made perfect sense, but I wasn't ready to commit to take on more long-term debt of this size at this time, even with a comfortable monthly payment. Both Tyler and Mike were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and patient. At no time did I feel pressured to move forward from either gentleman. I think I would have felt more comfortable moving forward if I had at least half of the total cost to put down to significantly reduce the term of the loan. I might move forward with this solution in the future and would work with Everdry again.
