Max Care Hardwood Flooring

Maxcare rep was a little late arriving to give an estimate, but she apologized profusely and even gave a discount on the work. The estimate was detailed and gave various options. They were very willing to completely refinish most of the floors and just "buff and coat" the parts that were already in pretty good condition. We had to delay having the floors done while other work was being done on the house, but as soon as we could schedule, Maxcare was able to schedule within 2 or 3 weeks, even though it was their busy season. The crew showed up exactly as scheduled, and the work took much less time than we expected. The crew were pleasant and patient while I decided on the stain color. The floors are beautiful!! and we had almost nothing to clean up. The cost was right in line with other estimates we got.

I wanted to get the floor done in time for my sister's visit which was only two weeks away. Lori asked the guys if anyone could take time out of their schedule on a weekend and install the floor. It all came together just as they promised. The floor was installed that Saturday and by mid week it was finished. Beautiful!

I found out that there was written information about the chemicals used in the process that was not shared with us up front. They could have done better with instructions.

During the first week we (and our two cats, who were confined to the attic) were able to stay in part of the first floor, though the day the stain was applied the odor was very strong and unpleasant even with open windows (this was a fairly warm period in April). We were able to walk on the floors (once the finish was applied) in stocking feet, after several hours. The second week the larger part of the house was refinished. We took our cats and stayed overnight with friends when the stain was applied this time. Two flights of stairs were included in this work. Maxcare was the only company I could find that did the risers as well as the treads. They also offer a truly dustfree sanding with an outdoor collection system. Our workmen were prompt, informative and very responsive to our concerns, as was our contact person in the office.

They were in and out almost it seemed. There was no dust at all and they were in on the first day and had it all stripped and the stain was applied in about 6-7 hours time. The next 2 days were the finish coats and the floors were finished in a total of 3 days. They looked even better than imagined.

They came and gave us a bid a little higher than our first bid, but could perform the work sooner and were dustless, so we had them do the work. They also had a 10% discount for Angie's List customers. We were asked to be put on a list in case someone cancelled. Sure enough, one week earlier than scheduled, they called with a cancellation and came to do our work. We were delighted! The first team arrived on Friday and sanded the floors and put down a sealer. On Monday the second team came and put on two coats of finish. Our floors are gorgeous!! We love them. There was very little smell and no mess or dust. I would highly recommend this company to everyone.

This was a great experience and I would recommend Maxcare to anyone.

Estimator was cocky and spent most of the time in my house badmouthing the other companies who gave me estimates. I had quotes from five companies, and MaxCare's quote was by far the most expensive. The estimator told me that the job was going to be extremely difficult, which was inconsistent with the other estimates.

Hired to sand and refinish one room and closet floor, everything they said they would do they did and on time. When repairs were needed they completed this (removal and replacement of damaged white oak flooring) to my complete satisfaction. Everyone was great and professional in how they explained what would be done and how. They included a discount on my bill for mentioning Angie's List. I wouldn't use anyone else for flooring in the future.

This is the second time we've used MaxCare. Both times our experience has been very, very pleasant. We get calls every night to let us know when the team will arrive the next day. We're given specific care instructions for each night (when you can walk on the floor, whether or not you should stay in the house at all due to fumes, etc.) The price is very, very competitive and the work is quality. Whenever I had questions, it was easy to get a hold of a person who could answer those questions. If I had any more wood floors to redo, I'd hire them again.

Maxcare employees were polite, prompt, and quick with their work. Worked Saturday morning for rough sanding, buffing, and sealant, and came back Monday for second buffing, waxing, and second coat of wax. The floors look great, and I am very pleased with the finished product. Maxcare really brought out the beauty in the previously unfinished original wood floors in this high-traffic area.

The floors look beautiful. MaxCare promotes a dustless system and it was! We had to wait a little longer to apply the second coat because the first coat took longer to dry than expected. But that was OK, we were grateful that they did the right thing and waited rather than just put down the second coat prematurely.

The quote appointment time was respected and we received a quote immediately after a 30 minute visit. The price was best of three received by a small amount. The work was performed in our absence over Christmas. Repairs, sanding, and finishing were done to our complete satisfaction. I would have them quote other jobs in the future.

Lori, the sales rep, gave me confidence that the job would get done well. She even came to talk with the two guys who came the first day to do the install in the closet and the sanding. Andy and Jesus came the first day, and they did a wonderful job. They showed up on time and were very courteous. Really was a very clean process. I was afraid of the sanding process, but the vacuum really works. On day two, Bill and Will came to do a light sanding and the two finish coats. They came on time (and it was Saturday) and finished the tasks quickly. I love my floors and cannot wait until summer to do the living room floor as well. The home office also was good at calling ahead of time to answer my questions. When I called later with more questions, they were very receptive. A great experience.

They always appeared at the appointed time (that's extremely important to me) and explained all that they were doing and let me know how many hours to expect the finish to dry (so I could walk on it in socks); always polite and fast without sacrificing quality. It's so beautiful, that now, I want them to come back to refinish the hardwood floors in my dining room and living room to look as good as the kitchen.

A very smooth operation with minimal disruption to our household. The only potential sticking point was whether the stain would match the stain on the 6 year old wood in the rest of the house. We consulted with Tony on "nutmeg". Andy, the finisher, did a superb job in mixing the stain and applying it. The match with our 6 year old wood is perfect.

Maxcare was wonderful. I had just had all my woodwork sprayed white and they took great care to avoid marking it. Their dust free system is just that, very little dust was generated, mainly from areas that needed hand sanding. And they offer this system for all customers, not as an up-charge like both of the other companies that bid the job. They repaired several holes and installed a piece of missing nosing at no charge in addition to extending an Angie's list discount. The floors were sanded and stained in two days. Three coats of finish were applied, the men even returned on Sunday to apply the final coat. This company was aware of much work being done in the house and got the job done quickly so the work could proceed. All of MaxCare's employees were pleasant and personable, worked non-stop and gave me lots of maintenance and care information. And the floors look terrific. MaxCare came in with the low bid for the job, but their work was first rate.

They were excellent. Their teams are real craftsmen. The repairs blend in beautifully with the rest of the floors. Everyone was courteous and friendly.

He cleaned up the best he could, but the whole staircase has to be repainted for $350 and it is beyond only being touched up. I had called Max Care to speak to the owner to let them know the situation and the charge. After a period of two weeks and five phone calls the estimator called me back and said that it only had to be touched up and that they were only going to pay $100. However, the stain on the white paint made it turn pink, there are also areas that are deeper in color with the stain. I informed Lori (MaxCare) that I was submitting a report with Angie's List and she said she would be contacting a lawyer. She called me back to confirm I was submitting the report and said she would be speeding up the process with the lawyer and start with the proceedings.

I made an appointment on a weekday at noon so that I could come home during lunch and get the estimate. They called the same day and asked if they could move it to 1:00pm. I told them 12:30 at the latest. Then the employee came before 12:30, did his measurements and rushed through the explanation. I felt like he had a bigger job waiting for me and I was holding him up. I decided not to go with this company due to the change in appointment and the fact that he rushed through it.

The process was very smooth from start to finish. The installers arrived on time and finished within two and a half hours. Sanders arrived the next business day and were extremely courteous and professional and replaced one cracked piece of flooring. They finished the sanding and applied a sealer. The next day two gentlemen arrived and buffed the floor and applied two coats of the finish. I am extremely happy with the way the floor look. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely use Max Care again.

This company was a joy to work with throughout the process. From the estimator to the sanding crews to the finish crews and the office staff, everyone I talked to was very professional and helpful. My job had to be broke up into two because my house was so small and I had no place to go with all the furniture if we did it all at once; they only charged me a $50 trip charge instead of two minimums (they were the only company I talked to that offered that as an option.) They left everything clean, and happily fixed some minor flaws in the finish that I found (without making me feel like a pain in the neck!) I would highly recommend this company (and have already to a couple of people) to anyone who asks.

The workers were punctual and courteous but overall lacked a great deal of attention to details. They let the finish coat drip on the stairs and did not come back to fix that. The floor installation in the hallway was the messiest. The worker simply piled up the saw dust on the clean carpeted areas and swept it later creating dust deposits everywhere and did not provide proper protection where necessary. Consequently, I spent hours cleaning thick layers of dust in all of the second floor bedrooms. Nails were left protruding at the entrance to each room. Larger than acceptable gaps were left at most of the door jams. And to add to the aggravation, we found out later that the company does not install quarter rounds; therefore the overall appearance was that of an incomplete job. We asked the owner to check the work done, but not only did he not bother with inspecting it, he also dismissed the issues justifying each one of them. I definitely would not recommend this company.

Lori told me that she would fax the estimate to me the next day and then never did. The next week I had to call to have someone in the office fax it to me. When I called with questions regarding the quote, and to schedule the work, TWO times, Lori never called back.
