Rich showed up on time. He was professional and friendly. He checked the furnace first and replaced the filter. He recommended changing the filter yearly as I have April Air. He said the furnace looked good. He then checked the air conditioner. It turned out that it was low on freon. He indicated that there was a small leak and that I should have it checked out yearly as I use the ac a lot. We discussed the condition of the ac. He said it should last for awhile unless the leak got bigger. I also received the $30.00 credit from using Angie's list. I'm really getting my moneys worth using Angie's list. Thanks, Hillestad! We knew a heat wave was coming and that our air conditioner wasn't working. It hadn't been serviced for years. I called Hillestad and they came within two days. The unit worked for a few days and then died again. When I called back they sent someone over within an hour and he had it fixed in no time. It's worked perfectly ever since.

The tech was very nice and knowledgeable and fixed our A/C that day with a new fitting that was cracked. Filled the system and tested it and serviced the entire A/C unit.

the gentleman was friendly but didnt even pause for me to show him where our basement was. On the one hand it was funny that he said he just knows where furnaces are without being shown on the other hand it was his first time in my house, I had never met him before or used the company so I wish he would have been a tad more professional. Otherwise everything went great. I thought the prices were right and he seemed very experienced.

The problem was determined quickly; Jason could tell from the sound of the A/C start-up that the compressor wasn't working. He looked at the capacitor first, and after it was replaced the A/C ran and cooled. Then he checked the filters and drains, and put foam tape on the bare section of the copper tube running to the compressor.

We have been using their service for several years and we have always been satisfied with their work. They are prompt. They come when they say they are going to come and they do the work. They do a good job. We will use their service in the future. I would recommend them to others.

We had a week of hot days and I couldn't get the air conditioner to cool the house. I heard it go on, but there wasn't any cold air coming out of the vents. I called Hillstead directly, and mentioned that we recently moved in and received a home warranty at closing. They politely redirected me to my insurance agent so that I would not be charged and the warranty would cover the visit. They visited the house the same day, and solved the problem.....there was a mouse nest in the compressor outside. I arrived home from work to a cool home. Their concern for us not to be over charged, the professional demeanor of the people on the phone, along with the same day service gave them a straight 'A' rating.

Project went very well. It is good to compare various companies but in the end we recognized that the pricing was competitive and their expertise extensive. Highly recommend working with Mark Trameri if considering boiler replacement.

They were very knowledgeable about steam boilers, something that I found is rare. Other bidders were going to simply replace the old boiler with a new one. Mark from Hillestad immediately showed me why the poor piping job caused the old boiler to die decades before its time. They reconfigured the piping into the new system, and installed several "blowdown" valves which would let me clean out the sediment that builds up in the system and kills your boiler. they were not the cheapest bid, but within a couple hundred bucks. their knowledge of steam systems and the repiping they did more than made up for the price difference. They have a crew that installs steam systems all the time. Steam is somewhat rare in homes and they knew everything about it. A knowledgeable technician came back after several months to "skim" the oil residue out of the boiler, and he instructed me about how to clean out the system myself--something that will save money on a boiler checkup, since they won't have to do that.

It started with a very thorough walk through and proposal. There was no doubt in my mind that the gentleman doing the estimate have a very complete understanding of my needs and my system. The crew and equipment arrived on time and was installed as expected. They were able to gave me additional space, as they manuevered the equipment to the most efficient location. The installation was completed on time and the cleanup was perfect. They were friendly during the installationa and were very informative, not only during the installation, but once the units were in operation. I knew what to expect when they walked out the door. I was extermely please with the implementation.

Everything went great. They were thorough and reasonably priced in comparison to everybody else. They handled all the leaks in the system that came up; it was an old system. They made sure that I was informed of what was happening and what the potential drawbacks were. It was an informative process. They had good communication with me. Their prices were about the same as everybody else's prices, and they did a much more thorough job than what other companies would have done.

They bend over backwards for their customers. I highly recommend them. There were no problems. They're great to work with. The only unfortunate thing is that one of our favorite people there retired.

A/C and heating maintenance check up. The service person (Phil) was very professional and showed up on time. Opened up the relevant machines, tuned as necessary and ran me through the steps. I am very satisfied with their service.

I spent less than $200. They were responsible for doing my heating plant at my home. So, I have them out to do service. They are very good. However, it is dependent on the person who comes out. I have had mixed experiences with them. It all depends on which of the two owners come out. It is great when I get the one guy and it is terrible when I get the other guy. Their price is average. They also came out to give me a bid. I didn’t go with them with the bid as the guy I liked was having a hip replaced. I will use this company in the future, provided there is the guy I like.

The guy was willing to put the AC on the other side of the house. I didn't want it on the street side, he seemed fine with it and I liked his attitude.

You get to talk to someone on the phone when you call, and not a recording. That is good so people can get a real quick interaction. My experience was favorable. I would use them again in the future.

The interaction was fine. I was able to schedule it within a reasonable amount of time. He was prompt, thorough and made some good suggestions. I thought it was a little bit expensive for the amount of time that was involved, but I was satisfied. My neighbor had warned me about the cost so I wasn't suprised when I saw it. It didn't seem to me like there was a whole lot involved. I havent had any problems with the unit since then. If I replace my unit I will look into others, but that is more about the product.

Showed up on time. Got work done on time. They even fixed some stuff in the process that needed to get done but wasn't bid on and they didn't charge ( a heating duct that was hanging too low. Sealing up space around the tubing going out to the air conditioner etc). The only thing that was a little confusing was I had expected more help with completing forms for state and federal rebates- but once I figured out what I needed they were helpful and prompt in getting me the information.) Price was as promised with no surprises.

They responded the same day that I called them.

The price they quoted me was $3800 and my experience with them was very good. The guy met with me, followed up several time via phone and was prompt with the information. He was very helpful and I would recommend them to others. Based on the interaction I would say they were excellent.

I have used Hillestad for years. I take competitive bids for larger jobs [this was a new boiler] and they are always the lowest or close to it. They give good, prompt service, and I recommend them.

Our air conditioner didn't work when we turned it on for the first time this year and we knew our furnace needed to be replaced so we called Hillestad. Jerry, one of the owners, gave us the Bryant model numbers he recommended on the phone prior to his visit so we were able to research and understand the products on our own. Jerry came out to our house to provide an estimate to replace the air conditioner and the furnace; was very friendly, knowledgeable, we truly felt like he had our best interest in mind and we didn’t feel any pressure so we signed the purchase agreement and set an install date. We also found out we were eligible for several rebates if we purchased both products, saving us money! Yesterday morning Jerry accompanied two wonderful Hillestad employees (a heating and a cooling specialist) who completed the installation. Of course our easy install ran into a few snags because of the poor work of the initial install company (certainly not Hillestad's fault), but it was completed successfully in one day and we couldn't be happier! When Jerry ran in the morning to grab a few parts needed for the install, he offered to buy his two employees a snack. May seem trivial, but it sure says a lot about the company culture and is important for us to support great companies! We had a fantastic experience and cannot think of one thing we would change! We had just bought a new house, so hired Hillestad to do a clean-and-check on our furnace and humidifier. The previous owners of the house had not really done any basic maintenance, which was obvious to the technician as soon as he opened up the furnace. Right away he found and fixed a few minor leakage problems and noted that the furnace was filthy. He gave us an estimate of how much of the cleaning he could get done on that visit without going into an extra hour and thus charging more, which we appreciated. He got a portion of it cleaned and said he would need to come back another day to clean the blower, as it was so bad he needed more time to deal with it. He came back a week or so later, cleaned the blower, and said it was the second-worst furnace as far as dirt that he'd ever seen. He explained what additional work we might need done, what we'd notice about the furnace if the additional work needed caused it to malfunction, and left a sticker on it explaining exactly what he'd already done and what was yet to be done in case a different technician came to look at it in future. He was extremely friendly and reassuring to us nervous first-time homeowners, and worked efficiently to get the work done within a single hour to avoid charging us extra. He showed us how to work around our nonfunctioning electronic air filters and how to change the lime-encrusted filter in our humidifier. He even took a few minutes to show us how to make our "high-low" vents work most effectively. Price was extremely fair. We will definitely keep using Hillestad and specifically this technician if we can get him.

When I first called them, a repairman came at the appointed time and quickly capped off the drain valve, which is what was actually leaking, but warned us that more could be wrong in trying to explain why water was getting to that vave in the first place. He turned out to be right, as water was leaking through the cap the next day. The repairman came back out soon after I called, then called his supervisor/estimator in when it looked like it would be more than just a minor repair. He came out quickly and then explained what was wrong and neede to be done , and I understood and agreed. He brought the team out the next day.
