I found Keystone through a referral of a friend who had recently also used them to remodel a kitchen, as well as references from Angie's List. My experience with Keystone is fairly positive. They were responsive to all of my inquiries, and I valued their professionalism and input on design and functional matters. I only wish that their bidding process included such things as electrical work and appliance install, which is inevitable... I was billed separately for these because they were not stated in the contract (my friends who used Keystone apparently didn't get billed because they must have had an all-inclusive price). So ensure that your contract states everything anticipated. Other than that, I provided the following materials; all other materials and labour were obtained through Keystone: Subzero refrigerator, Wolf oven, Wolf gas cooktop, Vent-a-Hood, dishwasher, microwave, undermount sink, sink faucet, garbage disposer, full-flow water filter for cold water line at sink, marble subway tile backsplash and grout, porcelain floor tiles and grout. Keystone's total initial bid was $23,196.48 for the materials and work. Here is the timeline of events: 05/11/13 - 10% deposit to start process 05/30/13 - 30% begin engineering 08/07/13 - 30% Start on-site work 09/23/13 - 25% Substantial completion 11/08/13 - 5% + add-on/over-run Items that were not included in the Keystone bid included the following: $ 1,459.83 Plywood cabinet boxes and appliance install $ 4,347.28 Electrical work; materials and labour $ 5,190.30 Upgrade from butcher block island top to marble. Upgrade from cheapest counter to soapstone $ 354.78 Gas contractor $12,027.72 Total After-Contract Add-On and Over-run Total amount paid to Keystone: $34,158.72 Total amount directly sourced materials: $19,453.66 TOTAL Kitchen Renovation Cost: $53,612.38 All in all, Keystone was pretty good to work with, and I would contact them again if I had to do it all over again.
Description of Work: Gut old kitchen in condo (80sqft). Adjust gas spout to fit cabinets and cooktop. Install upper and lower cabinets, under-cabinet lighting, tile backsplash, provide and install marble and soapstone counters, install under-cabinet oven, microwave, dishwasher, sink and faucet. Install electrical outlets to code, bring electrical to island. Tile floors and install recessed and pendant lighting.

Keystone was awesome. We were upgrading our kitchen to sell our house They communicated great, were on time, very clean, professional. Did a great job. Very few delays which are to be expected on any job. Bror, Jim, Greg, Zach were all awesome onsite. Worth every single penny our house sold in 24 hours, and we will definitely use them again in our new house.
Description of Work: We had new doors and drawer fronts on our existing cabinets, new granite countertops and sink and faucet installed.
There were some delays but Keystone compensated us with some free upgrades worth thousands of dollars. Great installers and very easy to work with owners. Love my new kitchen.
Description of Work: Refaced kitchen cabinets, build some new cabinets, installed easy close drawers, installed new stove and dishwasher. New granite countertop through subcontractor.
The project went extremely well. They helped us to design and engineer the kitchen, then changed the design to accommodate a refrigerator that we wanted, then designed the cabinets for the dining room. The designer and engineer came to our house, so we could talk about the design in the space, rather than us going to their office to look at plans. They gave us pricing and a timeline as soon as the design was finished, and told us what we were to provide, and what they would provide. The work started on the date the told us it would. The finish carpenter, Ed Owens, was the lead for Keystone on the project. He was professional, courteous and friendly. He started with demolition, the roughed in the plumbing and electrical. He let us know when he would need the appliances and materials that we were supplying well in advance, so that we could get them on time. Ed also brought up small details for our approval (such as the location of the can lights in the ceiling) instead of just placing them where he thought they should go. The work progressed smoothly, and Ed was good about cleaning up after work every night. Keystone also helped us with design issues, even meeting us at the tile store to help us pick out the back splash tile. Ed assisted the appliance installers when they brought them out, making sure that things would fit correctly. The project was finished in a little over two months, less than the ten weeks estimate they gave us. I would highly recommend Keystone Kitchens to anyone.
Description of Work: Keystone Kitchens built and installed cabinets for both our kitchen and dining room, completely remodeled the kitchen, including wiring, plumbing, drywall, tile, counter tops and windows.

We are very happy we found Keystone Kitchens. At first we were concerned by the number of people we interacted with (one person for design, one for ordering cabinets, one for demo, one for installation, one for invoice, etc.), and whether all of our information/discussions would be relayed from one person to the next. But, every person we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and responsive. Ed was our installer, and he was fantastic to work with! He did excellent work, was very friendly, and I can't say enough about the quality of his installation. The kitchen turned out beautifully. There was one small detail that we weren't happy with (the finishing of the edges on a knick knack cabinet), but Ed fixed it promptly when I raised the concern. The job was delivered on time and on budget and looks great, so I'd definitely recommend Keystone Kitchens. Of course, kitchen remodels are expensive and it was going to be about 5K less through Home Depot, but I believe the quality and professionalism was worth the price difference.

Excellent! I would highly recommend Keystone Kitchens for any kitchen remodeling jobs. Our project supervisor (Tom) was a pleasure to deal with and had some design improvement recommendations that were well received. Our project engineer (Bror) drove an hour and a half out of his way to make sure that our final granite countertop sign-off went smoothly since we had requested some last minute changes. The one very minor complaint I have is that it took much longer than originally quoted but we were ok with that since we would happily sacrifice schedule for quality and quality we did receive.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel. Cabinet re-facing, granite countertops, installation of new sink and stove-top range.
Keystone from the first meeting with Susan to the last detail managed by the project manager Ed was excellent. Bror was responsible for the design of the new island and layout work. He was detailed and listened well to what I wanted. He emailed up dates after his first visit and retuned to double check the exact dimensions. The island turned out great. The work started on time as promised ans was completed as efficiently as possible. Ed was our project manager. He was personalble as were all of the tradesmen and very professional. He took a hands-on approach to all parts of the renovation. This included kitchen prep and demolition modifications to the cabinetry instillation of new electrical tiling plumbing and instillation of new countertops. He communicated well with us and other tradesmen to confirm when they were to show up or change their schedule as needed. He was very knowledgable precise in his workmanship and flexible. When problems arose he figured out ways to make everything work. We had delays in getting hardware and lighting that moved him onto another job but he responded immediately when the parts came in. The daily clean-up was great. Mark did most of the tile work and he was excellent. It was a difficult job due to inlayed art and handmade tiles with special trim work. Overall we are so pleased with the work and would highly recommend this company.

They were fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone. They stayed within our budget and still gave us what we needed. There is nothing that I would not rate them an "A" on.
Description of Work: We used Keystone Kitchens. They refaced our cabinets.
There was a fairly long wait to start the project, but once started the project finished right on time. Communication was great, we always knew what was going on and what to expect. We are very happy with the work of our primary installer, Lee. He managed to do some magic with our existing floor tiles so that the minor changes to our floor plan aren't at all obvious unless you've seen our old kitchen. While we didn't get the premium full-custom cabinets that Keystone makes themselves, they did a good job installing semi-custom cabinets from a larger manufacturer. Our kitchen is both beautiful and substantially more functional and we're looking forward to showing it off!

I just purchased my first home this year. I was very clear of my budget during the initial consolation. Karen, from Keystone Kitchens was honest, to the point, and helped me stay well within my budget without sacrificing style or function. The results completely transformed my house! My craftsman/installer, Cliff, was very skilled and a perfectionist. The seems are perfect! I was never questioning if I had made the right choice or not throughout the entire build. These people are the definition of professionals. I HIGHLY recommend them for your kitchen remodeling needs.

To start with, Keystone Kitchens came out to the house to give us an estimate that we found very competitive, and since they were on the east side build their own cupboards, we were happy to go with them. Then their designer, Susan, provided us with a list of providers to select materials: counter tops, plumbing supplies, tiles and a reasonable timeline for when they would need them. Susan became our coordinator, helping us to interface with the suppliers in order to have sinks, fixtures, and tiles ready. Susan was always pleasant, knowledgeable and promptly returned our calls and we enjoyed working with her. Then Bill, our installer, arrived that first day promptly at 7:30 a.m. ready to get to work. After checking with us about what works best with our schedule, he went straight to work, putting up a barrier to keep dust to a minimum, moving appliances out of the way, and then began working on the cupboards. His work was meticulous ensuring every little detail was how we wanted it. At one point, when 2 of the cupboard doors were not to his standard, he sent them back to Keystone to have them redone. He is a true craftsman. Bill is one of the nicest people you will have the pleasure to meet. At a time when we were contending with a loss of a family member, he went out of his way to help us get our kitchen finished so that we could host family and friends. We highly recommend Keystone Kitchens for their professionalism, their friendly and supportive manner and the excellent quality of their work. And if you can, ask for Bill - even your dogs will like him!
Description of Work: Keystone Kitchens gave our kitchen a facelift by refinishing cabinets with new door pulls, installing new undermount sink, faucet and quartz counters. Their designer also suggested tile for a splash back and it pulled the whole kitchen together.

We began watching Keystone's reviews on Angie's List 3-4 years ago and knew if we ever had a kitchen remodel done, we'd like them to do the work for us. The planning, scheduling and actual work from beginning to end for our new kitchen took about 6 months total from first contact with Keystone. Our first contact was March 2014 and our project was scheduled to begin at the end of September which is when it did start. Karen, an excellent Keystone kitchen designer, worked with us to come up with a plan, creating more storage space and designing new cabinets in the kitchen. We had an upper bank of cabinets removed between the kitchen and family room to open it up. We needed to add cabinets elsewhere for storage lost. Karen designed a wall unit 13' long that offers plenty of storage to replace the cabinets we had removed. It looks just like a piece of furniture adjacent to the kitchen/family room. Over the course of the 6 week remodel part of the old kitchen was demolished. New electrical was installed for can lighting, new switches were added, a couple of outlets were moved and this included dimmers for LED lighting. This is our third remodel in this house (the first major kitchen remodel) and it wasn't easy to manage all the electrical, having to work around prior work that was done. Our project manager, Mike, made it happen. Very easy guy to work with and my husband learned a few things watching Mike work. Old cabinet refacing (white formica) was removed and the existing cabinets were refaced with cherry to match the new cabinets. It looks identical. Mike is a master at refacing. Old drawers and doors were removed and we requested all new drawers with soft closings that pull out all the way. No more lost space in the backs of drawers. Mike is also a master at detail work and the crown moulding trim is a work of art. Great care was taken to protect existing cabinetry and the floor during the remodel. Remodeling is never an easy experience and things are bound to happen but Keystone addresses every concern, no matter how small. They are helpful in their work attitude and responsive to any and all questions. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and their work ethic on behalf of the customer to anyone who needs a kitchen remodel. It's important to trust the company doing your work to show up daily and see it through to the end. We also enjoyed working with Bror, Jim, Kevin and Sean. Each individual we had contact with during our project was first rate. There was no doubt Keystone was the right company for us.
Description of Work: Keystone built a wall unit for us, replaced one wall of cabinets with new cabinets and refaced an island that we wanted to keep. All electrical was done by Keystone for this project but no plumbing was involved in the remodel. We began to watch Keystone on Angie's List about 4 years ago and decided if we ever remodeled our kitchen we'd like them to do our work. We are happy to have worked with them and have our new kitchen. We made payments in 4 or 5 installments over the course of the project. There's an initial payment to get things started and then 3 additional payments over the course of the actual construction phase.
I had a great overall experience through Keystone Kitchens. There are always bumps in the road, but it all worked out in the end. I had a team: Dennis was the initial contact and designer; Bror was my engineer; Zach was my GC installer; and Kevin did my tile. Dennis was very knowledgeable and helpful in getting my ideas for a design into a plan. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, and Dennis had several suggestions for how to make it better. There were no hard up-sells- in fact, just the opposite-- when I told him the initial estimate came in at more than I had budgeted, he thought I was saying I didn't want the job done, so he just wished me luck. Once we figured out what each other meant, we were able to find a few places I could do some of the work myself and keep my costs down. I hired my own granite fab & installer, did my own demo and did some of my own electrical and appliance install, which saved me 20% or so. The whole team was very patient and supportive of my effort to save where I could, even if it delayed them some or made some things harder for them. Bror had some very helpful changes to make the design work. While he was willing to try to make grand designs work, we settled on some practical alternatives that ultimately turned out great. Some of the design changes were over my head, but he usually let me know the practical implications. One disappointment came when my solid wood doors had to go due to sagging problems that would likely occur. We probably could have revisited color at that point (I had dropped stain to save nearly $1000), and I should have asked to see what the veneered doors would look like. That would have saved some initial concern about the appearance when the cabinets came for delivery. I was warned that the cabinets would take a while because they were so busy. It took over 4 months to start work. Even then, the install didn't start until 2 weeks after originally scheduled. My first installer called but never came. Finally Zach was put on the job. He had to be the first person to show me what the cabinets actually looked like, and be the one to make all my money-saving ideas work. He had a real challenge on his hands! It was a bit bumpy at first, as we'd left some decisions like how to install the range hood until during this phase, which slowed Zach's work down. He was also double booked & still finishing another job, & Seattle traffic was eating a lot of his time. But once he was able to get all the right folks in to set up the connections, things went great. Kevin did the tile work, which looked great and was finished in no time. Overall it was a really good experience and I'm very happy with my new kitchen.

For reasons too long to include, we couldn?t replace the cabinets in our master bathroom so we used Keystone Kitchens to reface them. We wanted clean lines and a light finish so we initially selected slab doors done in natural maple. When Chris Ball, the engineer on our project, came out to measure, he asked us if we were aware that maple will yellow over time. No; we had no idea and definitely wanted to get away from any yellow tones in the bathroom. He suggested bleached white oak and offered to have a sample made up for us. It was perfect. The job was completed efficiently and Tom, who did the actual installation, did a lovely job with attention to detail. There was one small hiccup. The medicine cabinet had been constructed with a frame around the door which didn?t work with the overall look of the main cabinet which was frameless. No worries ? they re-made a new door so the frame wouldn?t be visible. All in all, we were very pleased with the work and would use them again for a future project.

We are so happy with our kitchen remodel -- I feel we are living in a new house!!!! Ed was our project manager and installer and we were so lucky to have him assigned to our project!!!. You could tell from day one that he had the expertise, knowledge and attention to detail to insure we would have a happy ending and we certainly did!!!! I couldn't be happier with his work!!! He was always on time and took great pride in his work and he not just remodeled our kitchen but provided a wonderful place where we will be building great memories for many years. Also other folks on our team worth mentioning is Bror, our engineer, who gave us such great suggestions on our design and we are so glad we listened to his expertise!!! Mark, the tile installer, did an amazing job transforming a drab fireplace into a masterpiece!!!!! I would definitely recommend Keystone Kitchens for your kitchen remodel.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of our kitchen, including removal of a wall which separated the kitchen from the living room.
We were _very_ pleased with Keystone Kitchens. The initial design was detailed and complete. The tasks of the contractor were clearly specified in the statement of work. The lead installer came with a project schedule with each major task identified on the schedule (8 weeks), which he left pinned on the wall. We requested several additional tasks during the course of the project (as we grew the scope) and the change order was quickly and pleasantly negotiated. We knew what work was being performed at all times. The workmanship was excellent. The installation crews clearly identified options as decisions were required and followed up on any questions we had during the job. They were consistently on time and pleasant to be around (we occupied the house during the entire project). There was no unnecesary mess and they took care to clean up. They managed subcontractors seamlessly, and the subs performed to the same standards. We would recommend Keystone Kitchens without reservation.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel, including removing a load-bearing wall and dropped ceiling. Moved HVAC ducting and plumbing. Installed new cabinets, flooring, appliances, tile backsplash and overhead lighting. The counter installation was done by a different firm. The project required 10 weeks to complete.
Keystone Kitchens did all the work except for painting and the installation of a new floor. We did the painting ourselves and got the floor from LeBlanc Floors. We are very pleased with the design and functionality of our new kitchen. The cabinets, custom made in Keystone's shop, are especially nice. The "installer", Paul, did nearly all the carpentry, plumbing, most of the dry-wall work, and a lot of the electrical work. He was skilled and generally worked to high standards. All the work was top-notch, except for the drywall, which needed a lot of touch-up mudding and sanding before we painted it. We were also disappointed that no care was taken to install the drywall level and vertical before installing the new cabinets. In a previous major remodel of other areas of the house, the contractor shimmed the walls so the new drywall ceilings were level and walls vertical. One of the new windows was originally installed crooked, but was straightened when we asked for that. We found Keystone management to have serious communication problems. Although other Angie's List reviewers have described having on-site project managers, we did not have one even though one was expected based on design phase discussions. The installers appeared to have little supervision, and their manager, Jim, didn't really seem to know what was going on. The engineer, Mike, did not make clear to the installers what was specified, and we never saw him after the work on the project started. When it was time to put in the dishwasher, it turned out there was not enough vertical clearance and Paul had to remove the underlay from beneath the floor below the dishwasher. In fact, our house is crooked and the kitchen floor slopes, so the designers should have made sure the space for the dishwasher was sufficient. The height of the dishwasher was the only vertical constraint in the kitchen design and it seem obvious to provide enough space. Some cabinet doors were warped, and the Keystone folks took responsibility for replacing them as soon as we pointed this out. (We would have expected the installers to notice it first, but they didn't.) It did take quite a lot of time and three iterations to get the doors properly replaced. Our original project did not have the floor or tile backsplash included in the contract. We should have ordered the floor earlier than we did, as there was a dead time in the project waiting for flooring material before the appliances could be installed. When we asked Keystone for a price for the floor, it was twice what flooring companies asked, so we had it done separately. We had Keystone do the tile as an add-on, even though their price was higher than tile companies, in order to coordinate the work with the installers. The tile work was satisfactory but not outstanding. In summary, in a project of this magnitude it would be remarkable if there were no glitches, but Keystone did a fairly good job of correcting problems. The custom cabinets are beautiful.
Description of Work: We had our original kitchen gutted, a door closed off, a new door put in a different spot, and a crooked doorway straightened out. New drywall was installed on the walls and ceiling. All new cabinets, counter top, and tile back-splash were installed. We provided a new sink and new windows to be installed in the old locations. New appliances, except for the stove, replaced the old ones, and new lighting was installed. Some odd plumbing was corrected and some peculiar wiring was fixed as it was uncovered. Lead paint was found on the old walls and a very reasonable extra charge ($500) was made for having certified workers do the wall demolition. The cost of service did not include flooring materials and installation, new doors and windows, tile materials, sink and fixtures, and appliances.

Keystone Kitchens did an outstanding job with our kitchen remodel. The design and planning were very thorough and we were very pleased with the outcome. Our project manager Zach was incredible. When you are going to have someone in your house for 6 weeks (or so) it is important that the person be someone you can get along with. Zach did a great job, he is very personable, and he takes great care with the job he does. He has great attention to detail and cares deeply about the quality of his work. We would use Keystone (and especially Zach) again without hesitation.

It is hard to believe but we started our kitchen remodel construction phase one year ago with Keystone Kitchens. I hired Keystone Kitchens because I liked their business model. First you meet the designer and they put together a design and pricing of your kitchen together before you ever sign a contract with them. My designer Karen was amazing. I had a general idea what I wanted but she was able to pull it all together with all the bells and whistles. She listened to my ideas, concerns, and wishes and created a kitchen that I love. Of course, the design is only one part of the process. The construction phase, typically the most stressful part of the remodel, went reasonably well too. We had the usual glitches, wrong parts ordered, cabinets not made to design, etc. But through it all, Chris the owner of Keystone Kitchens, stood by his team, and made sure everything was done to my satisfaction. Even after the project was completed and the construction crew was long gone, I had a problem and needed the tile guy to re-grout a small section behind the faucet. No problem, Chris had that problem taken care of asap. I truly appreciate the quality of the custom cabinets made, attention to detail and the overall quality of the work completed. I would definitely recommend Keystone Kitchens for your next kitchen remodel.
Description of Work: Completely gutted and remodeled my kitchen.
We hired Keystone Kitchens to do a complete remodel of our kitchen. I'll start by saying that my husband and I are no easy clients. We are perfectionists and care about every detail. We have high expectations for all the contractors we work with. We interviewed many local remodel companies (the best of best) and talked to different designers but after meeting with Dennis couple times, we knew we wanted Keystone. They were very professional, knowledgeable and had lots of great ideas on how to improve our small kitchen. The design process was fun and seemed so easy. Dennis was always available to answer our emails filled with detailed questions from people who never did a kitchen remodel before. He always answered every single one. We also had a copy of all designs that we shared with family members to get more feedback. At the end, we met with Chris to finalize the design. His experience and professionalism were mind-blowing. We knew we had the right guys. The construction phase took about 2 months. It was a little bit longer than we estimated (5-6 weeks) but Keystone also oversaw HVAC upgrades in our dining room, lighting improvements in our living room and new floor installation. They even managed everything while we were on vacation first couple weeks. As any project of this size, there were many bumps on the road. Keystone was here to address every single concern we had. When we complained about the quality of the seam on our new white countertop, they took it seriously and even took the countertop off to make sure pieces were glued together correctly and the final product looked good. I want to say that what we LOVE most about Keystone is that they go above and beyond customer expectations. Since buying our house, we had a chance to work with many contractors and I'll be honest, majority of them do their job and never look back. Keystone is all about making their customers happy. They never let us down. Whether we wanted our drawers perfectly aligned or needed extra shelves for our cabinets, they did it for us. They helped us with every single detail. Other random thoughts? All their contractors are professionals with great attention to detail. Everybody in Keystone is really nice and considerate of your family needs during the remodel. They clean up after themselves every day. Billing is clear. Cabinets are custom made - maximizing the space and ideal for small kitchens. Any issues are addressed promptly. The quality of our new kitchen is superior and the look is fantastic. We couldn't be happier. We will definitely recommend Keystone to all our friends and co-workers.

It was amazing from start to finish. I had been working with another company a few months earlier and had actually paid for half of the project in advance (standard practice) and then the former company (Kitchen Transformations) went silent. They ended up closing their doors and taking half of my money with them. I should have turned to Angie's List earlier. I decided to move forward with the project and logged on to Angie's List. I was so fortunate to stumble on Keystone Kitchens. Dennis was great at coming right out to the house and was extra sensitive to my previous situation and understood my hesitation to move forward with any company. He even spoke to the owner who was aware of the "other company" and he was very great about working with my finances. Dennis mapped out a great plan and then Chris Ball came out to do the final measurements with Dennis before the project began. I then worked with my project manager Jim and the onsite project manager, Jody, every step of the way. Jody is amazing! He was so thoughtful about every aspect of the process. I truly trust Keystone Kitchens and will definitely use them once I am ready for a bathroom remodel. Get on the phone and call them today because you really won't find a better company to work with!
Description of Work: Keystone completely transformed my drab kitchen into a much more modern and function place to cook/live.

When the Keystone employee (Kelii) arrived on the job the kitchen was gutted. After a couple of days for set up the construction progressed non-stop with only a couple of coordination delays . Kelii always addressed concerns and questions in a professional and knowledgeable manner. All of Keystone's employees that worked on our kitchen were professional and polite. The cabinets that Keystone installed are as beautiful as any I have seen, and the quality of the cabinet hardware seems superior to what we saw before hiring Keystone - very sturdy and solid. The installation was no hurry up job. Kelii took the time needed to install the cabinets correctly. The doors, drawers, and shelves close, fit, and pull perfectly. I've put a level on the cabinets and counter tops and the bubble splits the lines. I spent 4 years working at the old Millwork Supply Company in Seattle with top notch cabinet makers and carpenters, and I feel confident stating the quality of the cabinets, the design, the installation, and the follow up quality control that Keystone supplied were excellent.

EXTREMELY Pleased!!! After thoroughly researching several cabinets manufactures on Angie's list and getting a few different estimates we chose Keystone Kitchens. From start to finish they exceeded our expectations. We have never done this before and were more than a little nervous starting out but Chris (the owner) was always available by phone or email to constantly inform us of what was going on with our project and what to expect. We put this project off until our kids went away to collage because of the expense and potential disruption to our home. If we knew it was going to be this easy we probably would not have waited so long. We have felt with several different contractors over the years and this experience by Farr has spoiled us. Simply put, they did Exactly what they said they were going to do! Their customer service is #1 :-) Thanks Keystone!!!

Excellent Craftsmanship, Disappointing Coordination I contacted with Keystone based on their excellent reputation on Angie's List as well as their responsiveness during the quote process. They were great through the design process and showed flexibility in cabinet design and kitchen layout. Keystone's granite counter supplier employs software that lets one move and rotate the slab cut before anything is actually sliced allowing GREAT flexibility to match the slabs with the setting and align the stone's grain as desired. I elected to perform demolition of the old kitchen myself and Keystone and I walked through the unit to mark off exactly what was to be removed, what would remain and how I could keep the place clean during that process. After I completed knocking the designated walls down, Keystone started work on June 9th with a completion date expected in the first week of July. Keystone gave me an absolutely latest completion range of 11-18 July. I arranged for a thorough cleaning of the unit on July 19th followed by my move in over the next two days. Unfortunately, Keystone was unable to meet its schedule and the kitchen was completed on July 29th. Overall, I found that while the final completed work was of high quality, I had to exercise constant vigilance to make sure that it was done correctly and as I had requested. Much of the work Keystone completed had to be re-visited and this caused a great deal of delay: - I had specified the position of three pendant lights. The electrical subcontractor installed them in the wrong location and their installation was never checked by Keystone. After I mentioned the incorrect installation, Keystone was able to correct the situation. - Similarly, the position of three electrical outlets, the disposal switch and the type of two of the light switches was incorrect even given the explicit directions I had left. Keystone did not inspect their subcontractor's work and it was left to me to find these errors. Keystone did make sure all these mistakes were corrected after I noted them. - Preparation for the installation of the over-the-stove microwave / vent unit was incomplete - bare wires were left instead of a standard 110 outlet to receive the unit's plug - with the result that the unit installer was unable to place the unit until he called Keystone. The micro-vent had been in the unit from the first day of Keystone's work, so there could be no confusion as to what it required for installation. - After installation of the granite, I noted that there was no caulking to seal the granite to the counters. Keystone was able to fix this fairly quickly. - The unit counters required about 1-1/2 slabs of granite but since I had to purchase 2 full slabs, I requested that sections of the remaining material be delivered to my unit for future use. I discussed this with the granite installer, the granite cutter and I showed Keystone where I had set aside a place for the granite to reside. After the counters had been installed, I noticed that this extra material was nowhere to be found. Eventually, these sections were located and placed where I had requested. - While I had specified that the wood grain on the cabinet fronts should be vertical, all were fabricated by Keystone with horizontal grain and had to be re-made. Similarly most of the shelf doors were warped on delivery and also had to be remanufactured by Keystone. - After the work was largely completed, I was shocked to receive a line-item bill for $665 for demolition. When I contested this, it was explained that this additional work had been necessary but not communicated to me. When I noted that I had NOT authorized this work and in fact could have completed the effort myself, this item was removed from the bill. - Several punch lists (the list of items still outstanding when the work is mostly done) were generated but there was no effort to consolidate them. I had spent a few hours to create one with about 30 line items. Two Keystone reps had also been on-site and each made his own hand-written list. When the Keystone craftsman was onsite to make the final changes, none of the lists could be found. I happened to have a copy of my own list and one other had to be called in. The third list Keystone compiled was forgotten at that point. - No written care instructions were provided initially, so I could not tell what chemicals could be used on the counters and cabinets. I requested the instructions 4 times from 4 different people at Keystone before I received them. To be fair, each and every person at Keystone I spoke to was personable and responsive to my concerns and no additional cost to me was incurred by any of the above. My "C" rating for Keystone is based on both the lateness of their completed work and their lack of coordination which required my constant vigilance and attention.
Description of Work: Keystone was responsible for converting an old, walled condo kitchen into new open floor-plan kitchen including all new cabinets, granite counters and floor.

Response from Keystone Kitchens, Inc.
I would like to thank the client for taking the time to leave a review. In any business there is always room for improvement and we strive to achieve 100% customer satisfaction every day. However, I think the grades the client provided are inconsistent both with his own written review and with the actual quality and completeness of the beautiful kitchen that we built for him. The client had some unorthodox design ideas which we were willing to try to accommodate but in some cases were not viable and had to be revisited. The client also failed to complete the demolition of the kitchen prior to our arrival per his contract. We went ahead and completed the work for him but he refused to pay for the extra labor. I truly believe that this client had no experience with remodeling before. It is unrealistic to expect not have some small hurdles along the way on any remodeling project. What sets us apart is our dedication to making the finished result beautiful and complete. There is always some inconvenience to having your home torn up and having workmen in your space and we try very hard to minimize the impact, but we never lose sight of the goal of creating a quality finished product that you can enjoy for years to come. If you are looking for someone you can trust to provide you with a lasting value for your home we are going to be the right kitchen remodeler for you, I guarantee it :)
