It is not an accident that he has the most positive reviews for hardwoor floor installations. From start to finish, working with Daniel was very easy and we are very happy that we chose him. We were doing a big remodeling and once we started the hardwood installation we were forced to wait few months to finish other part of the remodeling first until we are ready to continue with finishing the floors. We did not have any problems with Daniel regarding this and he was always able to accommodate us in his busy schedule. His workers were able to come in the worst winter snow storm in December'08 each day, to install the initial part of the hardwood floors. They were very efficient and did a great job faster than we expected. After few months we were finally ready to finish the floors, they were able to come in a short notice and put the baseboards and 2 coats of finish. We than had to paint the interior and it took a long time as well, but we again did not have any issues with Daniel. After few long months of our other parts of the remodeling we were ready for the final coat on the floors and Daniel was able to schedule this very quickly again and they finished the whole house for 2 days. Few weeks after this was done we wanted to clean our ducts and I called Daniel to send someone to remove the wooden covers as they were stuck from the Swedish finish. He was very prompt and came himself on a Sunday afternoon immediately after I talked with him. Overall we are extremely happy with him and his work, the communication was excellent as well as the quality of the work. We will consider him for any other job we need in the future and I always recomend him to our friends and to people at work.

I received three estimates to install 400 square feet of new red oak hardwood flooring in our living and dining rooms to match 350 square feet of existing red oak hardwood in the kitchen, entryway and hallway. The other contractors told me that the only way to match the existing floors would be to sand them down and refinish them - doubling the cost. However, Daniel was confident that he could come very close to matching the existing floors. He told me that if I wasn?t satisfied with the results, they could sand down and refinish the existing floors later. I was pessimistic about his ability to match the floors given how difficult the other contractors made it sound, but I?m glad I went with his advice and was very pleased with the results. Daniel?s crew showed up on time, completed the work within our time frame, cleaned up after themselves, and did a terrific job. We couldn?t be happier with our new floors.

Let me join the chorus of very satisfied customers of European Hardwood Flooring. The crew did masterful work and are real craftsmen. The flooring is smooth, looks uniform (between existing and newly installed areas), and displays beautiful graining and a lovely semi-matte finish. Daniel and his crew adjusted to our schedule, came to work on time, put in multiple full days of hard work, and always left the work site clean. Amazingly, there was little dust despite the fact that the firm does not use a vacuum system. Instead, they meticulously masked off all cabinets, shelving, and other areas with plastic sheeting. In the "little things mean a lot" category, Daniel's crew added beautiful black walnut banding around the fireplace and helped move furniture in and out of the house -- both free of charge. It was a real pleasure to work with this firm. I highly recommend them.

Daniel was great throughout the process. Easy to reach by phone, responsive to questions, reassuring when problems arose, on-time for meetings. Very easy to work with. Removing the old underlayments in two bedrooms and the hall turned out to be much more time consuming than expected, as there was a layer of something like tarpaper glued to the wood surface which had to be scraped off by hand. There were also a few boards that needed to be replaced due to pre-existing damage. This caused a small increase in the final cost, but I believe it to have been unavoidable. Despite the extra time for the tarpaper, the work was completed as scheduled to meet a move-in deadline, and on-budget. Best of all, my old floors look better than I could have ever hoped.

Called and scheduled estimate for that week. Owner didn't show up when he told me that he would be at my home so I called him. He said he was busy and wasn't able to make it. He apologized. We scheduled for two days later he came, but was an hour late again. He apologized and promised that I woul dbe able to get the work done the next morning and that it wouldn't take long. He told me the cre woul dbe at my home between 8-9 a.m. they were. The worked eficiently and finished the job in under 2 hours.

Daniel and his crew, helped us decide which flooring we wanted, met us at the showroom to explain options, gave us a very reasonable quote, was very flexible with his schedule, extremely fast, clean, excellent job-wood floor looks beautiful! Daniel was prompt with answering phone calls, appts, arriving to work, extremely clean and courteous. We can't say how wonderful our experience was with Daniel and his crew. My husband and I can't wait to get the rest of the house done with Daniel.

This was one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor. It was the first time I used them, and, in fact, the first time I chose a contractor on the basis of Angie's List. Daniel came out to estimate the job the same day I called--a Sunday! He was very flexible about starting when it would be most convenient for us. And he, and his workers, were expert and professional. I am happy to use them again, and, in fact, that is what I am about to do in a rental unit we have.

Daniel came by to inspect the bad work performed by prior Contractor and provided a competitive bid. We were impressed by his attention to quality and standards. Daniel and crew were very respectful, punctual, and took great pride in the quality of their work. Also, they were very knowledgeable about the trade and had a lot of good advise. The experience overall was very good. Daniel Shalgau runs a small company that focuses on customer satisfaction and very reasonable prices. His crew were excellent craftsmen with many years of experience and very high standards of quality. In addition, they remained flexible throughout the process and happily adapted to several changes that we made. From the initial contact through final inspection and payment, Daniel was a rare businessman that seemed more interested in our satisfaction than in making money off of us. I received quotes from 4 other highly-rated flooring contractors and his bid was one of the most competitive and avoided all of the nickel and dime charges that many of the bigger contractors charge (moving frig, removing toilet, etc.). We have some high-end custom faux-painted cabinetry in our kitchen area where most of the flooring was refinished. It would have been very difficult and expensive to repair the paint job if it had been marred by sanders or damaged by the new stain. Daniel said that his crew could do the job without damaging it, and they happily took great care and did not damage it in the least. As an example of their customer responsiveness, at our request they used the delicate surface blue tape for attaching the plastic to cordon off the cabinets and the rest of the house. After they were done each day, much of the plastic would fall down. Each day they retaped before beginning work without complaint. The new flooring was interlayed with our existing and was done superbly. The grade of the wood was the same, but the quality of their wood slightly better than the original. For the sanding, his crew doesn't use one of the integral vacuum systems but they sealed off the house well. Only a small amount of dust escaped and has not been difficult to clean. It was amazing to see the care they took to avoid damaging our expensive cabinetry and baseboards. The stain we chose was a dark stain. From what I know now, the darker stains require wetting the floor to ensure that the stain is absorbed by the wood consistently and deeper into the wood. I had talked with Daniel before work began and we had decided to do the wetting to "raise the grain". Because of previous family commitments, Daniel was out of town for the staining. Based on a test area, the crew-leader and I decided wetting was not necessary. As it turned out, this was a poor decision as the final stage of buffing (after the second coat of sealer) caused a couple of areas to lighten-up excessively. Daniel later explained that wetting would have prevented issues, but happily had his crew sand down and redo any areas that bothered us. In the end, we are quite happy with the results. I would highly recommend them.

I feel that they did A- work because there was a few minor imperfections. They worked really fast. They were here early every day. We were not living in the house at the time so they could work really fast, and the smell from the chemicals didn't prevent us from doing anything we needed to do. There were 2 guys that did the work. I think they quality could have been a little bit better because they missed a couple spots in between boards. There is a couple dark spots near the vent they fixed, and they repaired a board. It was stunning when we came into the house on how new the floor looked. It looked perfect. They did a really good job. They were the cheapest of all of the others that we got bids from. If my wife and I hadn't checked everything out as close as we did, we wouldn't had noticed anything was imperfect. Everything is perfectly shiny and everything. I couldn't have asked for them to make it more perfect.

Daniel came out to give us the estimate and was very polite and professional. He gave us a very reasonable quote for the work and we were able to schedule the installation date within the next few weeks. We purchased the flooring and brought it home ourselves and then Daniel and one installer came to do the job. Daniel had estimated that it would take 2 days for the job. On the first morning the guys arrived on time. We left the house after showing them in. We did not return until later in the day and were pleasantly surprised to see the floor completely installed and the work beautifully done. The work that was supposed to take two days only took one! And the installer cleaned everything up before leaving. Overall this was a very positive and stress free experience. We feel we got quality work for a good price. The floors have been in for about 8 months now and are holding up great.

Daniel Salgau is the craftsman behind this high-quality hardwood floor installation company...we were lucky to have selected Daniel as our flooring contractor, mostly thanks to Angie's List and prior feedback from its users. We could not recommend his quality of workmanship, attention to detail start to finish, and general customer service any more highly. We have had hardwood floors both installed and refinished in several previous residences, and no one has come close to Daniel and Benny (his installer and friend) for the level of professionalism - if you are thinking of refinishing or installing solid hardwoods, manufactured, and engineered, your short list of possible contractors must include European Hardwood Floors - they're the real deal and definitely walk the talk! The consultation, estimate, prep, install, clean up, and ensuring our satisfaction with the completed work all happened without hesitation. And, yes, his bid and actual prices were the same (one of our lowest, if not the lowest) - no surprises...

They did an ok job. They are very nice people. They just weren't very careful with the grit. Their prices were cheap. Some of the stuff they did really well and some of the stuff the did less well. They have been very very nice to work with.

Daniel and his crew did fine work. Our house has many odd angles, and Benny did a remarkably good job laying the floor. He is a real craftsman. The work was completed in less time than estimated. We are very pleased, and have recommended them to several friends and family members.

I had other estimates and they were by far the cheapest. They did a wonderful job. They were very knowledgeable and very hard workers. My floors are beautiful. I cannot say enough good things about this company. They did a good job of matching the old floor.

He tried to come right away when we called for the estimate, but came later due to our schedule conflict. His bid was very competitive. We decided to move forward because he had 3 coats of Swedish finish in the price. Friendly and responsible.

The job was excellent. They did it pretty quickly; within three days. It cost us less than the estimate. The people were very friendly. They didn t speak much English but they were still really friendly and worked really hard. They did an excellent job we are very pleased. They finished a little ahead of time.

The price quoted was exactly what I got. He was knowledgeable and was not high pressure. I had seen this company's work at my neighbor's, so I knew it would be a good job. There were 2 different crews that did the job, as things had to set awhile before they could proceed with the staining and Swedish finishing.

Daniel responded quickly to our request for an estimate. He was very professional and we were pleased with the estimate and he was able to schedule the work when we needed it done. They arrived promptly on Tuesday morning to begin the work. We were, of course, out of the house for the three days they took to do the work and returned on Friday morning to beautifully finished floors. They were extremely careful in their work with very little damage done to the house. Daniel kept us well informed while we were out of the house. We couldn't be more pleased. We highly recommend European Hardwood Floors!

They did an excellent job. They were able to squeeze us in during the July 4th weekend. They did the job quickly. After the job was done they cleaned up everything.

The worker who put the hardwood floors in did an awesome job! There was a vanity in the powder room that we pulled out and they patched the area with hardwood and got it right up to the pipes; it looks great now and better than we ever expected.

Daniel was very accommodating and personally came over to meet with us when we had questions. Daniel was also understanding of our needs. We had to change their work dates a couple of times and he changed his schedule to help us. Both he and his crew were extremely attentive and addressed our concerns. He also helped us move our furniture and was gracious enough to take a toilet, bookshelf and some cabinets to the dumpyard which others left behind. We recommend him highly - you will be very happy working with him.
