European Hardwood Flooring

This was an excellent experience given the complexity of the job. We have topnailed floors in a house that is over 100 years old and places that needed repair. Daniel was entirely reliable and did an excellent job very efficiently. The repairs look like the original floor and the quality of the finish is excellent. He gave personal attention, was entirely reliable and was very punctual. When the job was done he returned with his wife to do a thorough cleaning which I felt was incredible given the dust that was raised by the sanding. There is no question but that I would use him again. He made what is a disruptive process as nice as it could be.

Daniel was very responsive on initial contact to come out and quote on the floors. The quote was slightly delayed getting back to me -- but that was not a problem. His team had to come out multiple times given that I needed my floors extended during a kitchen remodel. My contractor measured a bit off and the flooring wouldn't have covered the underneaths of the cabinets- -but I was pleased that Daniel sent his team out again without any grumblings. I also didn't like where a transition piece stopped and Daniel and his team fixed that too. Daniel worked with me on picking out the color of the floors- - and it's fabulous- - he was spot on. During the actual refinishing / sanding weekend -- it was a pain being out of the house - but I entirely understand why it was necessary. It was worth it-- they look fabulous!

Well, I'll never do business with European Hardwood Floors again. But that's only because I've run out of rooms in my home for them to install hardwood floors. In the past few years this excellent company has replaced carpet with hardwood flooring in my family room, living room, dining room, lower bedroom, and three upper bedrooms. They've also refinished existing hardwood in my kitchen and entry/back hallways. In every case the experience was an extremely positive one. The company does excellent work!! They're real craftsmen who take pride in their workmanship. Daniel is a pleasure to work with, and he's very friendly, flexible, and accommodating. I've always felt that I've gotten way more than my money's worth with European Hardwood Floors. They're a great company to work with.

Our experience and the quality we received from European Hardwood Floors can only be described as excellent. From the very beginning when we obtained an estimate from Daniel to when everything was finally installed, European Hardwood Floors was on time and always very helpful. In fact, Daniel and his wife played an integral part in our decision making process when choosing the best color (natural) and finish for the wood to coordinate with our cabinets. They were also very accommodating. Not only did they help move the furniture into the garage before the project began, but they kept their promise and came back to move the furniture weeks later after the cabinets were finished. Daniel did everything with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity. We are of course very happy with the results and we highly recommend this company.

No problems; exceeded my expectations.

Daniel and his crew were punctual every day as well as respectful of our home and our family. We threw them a curveball on the first day by adding the refinishing of our existing hardwoods and they accepted and still completed the job on time. The quality of the floors is incredible and they restored our existing hardwoods to a brilliant shine with an exact match.

We are very happy with the results!! Daniel was a pleasure to work with - he knows flooring and kept our confidence in his work throughout. The flooring was covered with bad carpeting, so we weren't sure what exactly was underneath... Once the carpet went up, Daniel came by to look at it all and see what he could do. It was fir flooring, which is a soft wood, and it was in pretty bad shape. We expanded the rooms that were renovated, so flooring was non-existent in those spots. There were also a couple spots in the existing area where flooring was just randomly missing (and just particleboard). Daniel gave us a very reasonable quote for adding new floor to the missing areas, and then sanding and refinishing the whole deal, along with completely re-doing the stairs. The stairs were in bad shape; just random pieces of wood or particleboard covered in carpet. Nothing was salvageable, so he had to do all that new. Transitions between rooms and stairs were also missing, which Daniel added in. The crew he works with is also great - high quality results, easy to work with. The new flooring was feathered in with the old, making it look very seamless. The flooring is OLD - so this is very likely the last sanding we'll get out of it; we also discovered that the flooring had no subfloor; literally just placed over the joists. Who does that? But anyway, Daniel and crew were great - they replaced a few more boards that just weren't going to make it, doing the best they could with what was given. They used a blend of new fir and old fir (salvaged from older homes) to maintain a consistent appearance. After sanding, you could barely tell the difference! Filled all the holes and gaps with filler, and finished with a beautiful swedish finish. Daniel's number one goal is to make sure we're happy with the results - answering all our questions fully, addressing all our concerns, going above and beyond our expectations. The whole thing came out amazing.The floors are beautiful - I still sometimes walk upstairs and am in awe of how everything looks. We're re-doing the basement floor next, and will definitely have Daniel come do that. He's gained extremely satisfied and loyal customers in us! We will never go to any other flooring specialists. Highly recommend!

Very attractive finish and blending of old and new hardwood - done on time.

The workmen arrived at scheduled time and finished the work in two days. The floor is beautiful - much better than expected. I would definitely recommend this company and would hire them again anytime.

European Hardwoods (Daniel S) was a wonderful company! He did a fabulous job refinishing our kitchen and mudd room floor. They looked brand new when he was done. The finish was just gorgous. He even did an extra area for free (Thanks!) He also refinished our whole upstairs (about 1500 sqft) which was very old wood, he buffed it out, then refinished it with the same finish that had been on it before, keeping the old style and charm, but giving it new life. Before that, any water that sat on the wood for more than 2 minutes would stain it. With 6 people and 5 pets sharing the space, there were plenty of stains!!! But now it looks wonderful, clean and inviting. I decided to refinish the floors in my house when i wanted to put it on the market this june. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and Daniels estimate was very, very reasonable. I know this will really make my house shine and feel more fresh for the showings. Daniel was so kind and curtious, alway on time and even did the job on a weekend. I can't say enough about how easy and wonderful this experience was, I just wish i was staying in that house so I could enjoy the floors!

They did an exceptional job - the quality was superior to what I expected (and I am notoriously picky), and their professionalism and consideration were superior to any company I've ever worked with (and I have redone a total of 10 kitchens and baths). In addition, they worked overtime to make their original completion estimate, even with unexpected repairs and greater difficulty than anticipated. The new flooring, and the repaired flooring, is indistinguishable from the existing floors. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

They came when they said they would and were very pleasant to have around (I have kids). After they pulled up the carpet and found an area without hardwoods, they laid some that matched well for a very reasonable price.

Very prompt, good attention to detail, did a great job. Went out of their way to resolve some pre-existing problems. Did not provide any instructions for floor care or continued maintenance, or any floor care product recommendations.

EHF did an outstanding job. I was worried about hiring another contractor to do work on my home, but they were timely, courteous, finished exactly on time and cleaned up when they were done. I haven't had any of the contractors I've hired recently go beyond what was promised, one of them is now two weeks behind, so hiring someone to re-finish my floors was a leap of faith. I have grown accustomed to just expecting 95% but Daniel and EHF was super easy to work with, gave a very thorough bid and when it was all done, Daniel came by personally to make sure the job was PERFECT. Not just "good enough" or "satisfactory", Daniel wanted it perfect so he did a few touch ups and I have to say, it looks far better than I was expecting. I do have to forewarn people that are considering having their floors re-done: Don NOT make the mistake of underestimating how much it's going to stink. I stayed with family for a few nights, but I had to run into the house for something and the smell was so strong it actually hurt to breathe the fumes. I left the upstairs windows open overnight to get rid of the smells and the smell went away fairly quickly. I would highly recommend EHF to anyone considering having their floors re-finished. DP

I had EHF refinish my floors because they had put in a transition piece during my remodeling project, and the result was beautiful. Daniel came to do the estimate and explained about the process. He gave me an estimate, and set up the time for them to come over. Jose and Rodolfo came and worked efficiently, quickly and professionally. They did a great job and the floors look beautiful, just like new. The only gripe that I have was that I didn't know that the lacquer used would have such strong fumes, especially on the second application, which required a very slow drying. My daughter and I ended up staying in a motel. I later talked to Daniel about this and suggested that he make this part of the process more clear to the customer. I love the look of my floors and would use EHF in the future without reservation.

Daniel and his team were great! They were on time, responsive, accountable, and friendly. They did a wonderful job and price was good as well. Highly recommended!

Daniel was a very nice person. I had a couple phone calls with him to talk about the scope of the work and schedules etc. He then visited on site and gave me a free estimate. He arrived on time in the morning with his team and then I left and headed to office. His team finished the work on the same day.

We can't say enough good things about Daniel, Diana and the rest of the team. They are very professional and really care about the work they do. We closed on our house and the next day we left for vacation and Daniel started work. We when returned a week later the house had been transformed. The workmanship if fabulous and has held up to our 45 lb puppy without a scratch. We did find that a closet door didn't close smoothly after the installation and after we let Daniel know he was on it immediately - sooner than we could actually be there to meet him! Also, his pricing came in under significantly less then another estimate we had - we're very happy and have already recommended him to a friend.

Daniel and his team are very professional and provide excellent work. The craftsmanship is superb. The floor looks fantastic, you can't tell where the new wood is vs the old. Daneil and his team were always on time and the work was completed to our agreed schedule. I have recommeded Daniel and European Hardwoods to my friends and will use them again.

We really need to add to the list of praise given Daniel and his crew by other Angie's list members. His work is superb. It was finished on time and on budget. The people could not have been nicer. The price was very fair compared to other contractors we spoke with. This is a keeper.

We had a tough problem in that we had a big loss of heat through our concrete floor. We had five different estimates each with different ideas on the best way to insulate and install the flooring. We are very happy with Daniel's approach and results. The floors seem well-insulated and are beautifully installed. The price was very reasonable compared to other quotes. The guys who do the work were very nice, and also very thoughtful. They even cleared a space on our porch so that they could do the wood cutting outside our small condo so the dust wouldn't bother our baby. We are very happy we went with them.

They did a wonderful job! They were on time, on budget, they protected all surfaces, there was minimal dust, and they removed all waste. We cannot say enough about how great Daniel and his team were to work with. We highly recommend them, and would definitely use them again. The floors look spectacular, and you cannot tell where the old floors end and the new begin!
