I bought the brake special on Angie's list but there was alot more wrong than what i thought. So i had to buy new rotors. new calipers then i decided to to the rear brakes. and then the struts. it just snowballed. They did a good job and i saw the old parts they were shot. just ended up being a lot of money.

I had purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List for $58, which was supposed to cover the rear brakes and rotor resurfacing.  When I arrived (I had to wait a half hour for them to arrive and open late), they inspected my car and told me that the rotors needed replacing as they looked like they had rusted and had never been replaced.  I said go ahead, finding out the cost was $180 more than I had expected with the Angie's List Big Deal.
When I went home and looked at my service records, I saw that the rotors had been replaced the previous brake replacement (less than 2 years earlier).  They should have been fine, just resurfaced. I feel that they took advantage of my lack of ignorance of how often they need to be replaced.  And, in addition, the cost for replacement of brakes and rotors cost about the same as the dealer had charged two years earlier - not a Big Deal.
I sent the manager a note about this and never heard  back.
I was pleased with the final outcome of the brake replacement, but would prefer to go to a dealer in the future.
The biggest issue was with the poor value of the Angie's List Big Deal, which mislead me.

The Brake Team worked through the fact that they had not had internet service for 3 days and had to rely on other forms of communication to access my appointment and Angie's list purchase.
I'll be back soon for the recommended service needed.
Thanks

The gentleman that help us, is very helpful in giving info as to what needs to be done to our car. Give us quote & why the service are needed. I only give B because it would be really nice if they park our car infront of the door (we have disabled parking permit) instead of the backside of their property where my disabled husband (walk with cane) has to walk and have the driver seat back to its original settings.

We went to Brake Team in Portland because the first Break Team we went to sent us there. The first one said they couldn't finish up and recommended we go to the one in Portland. We showed the second one our invoice and they had another look at the car. They tightened up the lug nuts the first ones had left loose. They put the spring on that wasn't put on correctly. They found a broken motor mount, where the other guys that were in there all day didn't figure that out. They got us right in, although we weren't an appointment. They opened up the wheel and found the springs that weren't tightened, found the motor mount problem, and then brought the car right back out. It was 15 minutes in and out! They didn't charge us, either.

Good first impression:
I went in thinking I needed new rear drum brakes based on what another shop told me and recently had been experiencing some uneven braking. The Brake Team informed me that I still had 50% life remaining on the rear brakes. They were just really dirty and needed a little adjustment. They were honest and performed only the work needed. Cost was just $30. I appreciate the service and plan to bring them business in the future.

They did a very good job.  The guy was very nice.  They came in and got it done very quickly.  I've questioned whether the Brake Team philosophy is something I want to stick with because he was talking about having to have something done in 2 years.  Their quality of service was good.  I'm not sure what the prices were in comparison to other ones.  I was told by another mechanic that ceramic disk brakes were the best because they came with the car.  This guy said that metal pads were better but I don't believe that's true.  It was a little off-putting at times.  This guy told me that wasn't true and put on other brake things.  As far as it went, they were good but I'm not sure I'll go back because of the pad thing.  I'm not sure they put the best parts on for the price.  They were pretty professional.  Let's put it this way, I think their profession was salesman and they sold me.  The guy was a real nice guy and he did well for us.  He did some discounting and things like that.  I didn't do any other appraisals because my brakes were about to fall apart on me.  Next time I'll do a little more research.

There were some oil hoses that were leaking and it had to be replaced. There was some digging involved to replace them. They were fast in solving the problem, and there was no charge for it. They don't do just oil change or brake work; they?ve got more expertise than that. They are awfully quick and their prices are reasonable. They answer calls and return phone messages. They have been comfortable in with working with our car and in fixing all the issues.
