+ -1 moreUsed PUD loan program to obtain 3 bids from various contractors. Evergreen looked like the one with the most experience with heat pumps and gave us a decent bid. They removed our old electric furnace and replaced it with a geothermal heat pump (ground). This involved running ductwork, digging our our front yard and installing the loop. Also came with an electronic air cleaner. Since then, have used them for regular maintenance on the pump. They have diagnosed a couple of the problems over the phone, without the need for costly visits. The pump has worked well, even in colder winter months.
Description of Work: We chose Evergreen State Heating to replace our current electric furnace with a geothermal heat pump.

The work crew was very professional and polite and worked diligently to get everything installed in a timely manner. We have continued to use them for our annual maintanance inspection and recommend them to anyone needing any type of HVAC work. They also have a sheet metal shop and did an excellent job of building duct work needed for our system which has made our house "breathe" more efficiently.

I knew exactly what was in the cart before I signed the bottom line what was done and that's what it ended up in. They are quick and efficient. They were perfect.

+ -1 morePoorly. The technician did not check CO levels either during his diagnosis or after his heat exchanger repair. He did not inspect the furnace exhaust ducting, and thus missed the problem entirely. The company initially stood behind the technician's miss-diagnosis, and refused to consider a refund, credit toward the real repair, or even concede that the repair was unnecessary. They claimed, "you can't PROVE that the heat exchanger wasn't faulty." After escalating to the general manager, they conceded that the technician should have checked the CO levels, and agreed to refund half of the total labor charge. The customer service response was horrible. You find out the true nature of a company only when something goes wrong, and this company failed. Also, the first technician attempted to charge me for 5 hours worth of work, when it only took 3 hours.
Description of Work: Diagnostic and repair of furnace. Called them due to a smell of gas in the home whenever the furnace came on. They sent a technician for a diagnosis. He did not check carbon monoxide (CO) levels. He inspected the furnace, and concluded that the heat exchanger was the problem. We were charged $210 for this diagnosis. We then authorized them to do the repair, whereupon they sent the same technician (Ian) out. He replaced the heat exchanger. The problem did not go away. A second technician came out, Keith, and diagnosed the problem as being in the ducting (leaking furnace exhaust ducting right next to an unsealed return air duct through the floor joists, sucking in the leaking exhaust air). This concluded the work they did, as we then began to argue over the charge for the unnecessary heat exchanger repair.
