I just typed in a long paragraph, and your system erased it. The owner, Dan was rude to me when I first brought in my old computer so they could transfer my email from it to the new computer. He told me they didn't need my old computer to do that. Well, Scott DID need my new computer to do it. He needed that to trace the original info I had used when I first obtained that email account, which was about 15 years ago. When I went to pick up my computer, it still did not do 4 of the things on my list. Scott, spending an hour and a half, was able to finish the job that the technician had not done and that no one had tested it for. Not only that, but I later discovered that they had removed at least some the security from it; and they had replaced Microsoft Office with something inferior. I'm now going to have to pay someone else to fix those two things. I don't trust Seattle Laptop to work on it. Five years ago I had a good experience with them, but something has changed.
Description of Work: My Lenovo laptop had never worked well since I had bought it last fall from Home Depot. They were not able to put my current email address on it. I could not get any radio stations on it. It had no drive to insert a disk, and it would not read from a plug-in drive. The response after turning on the screen was slow. It did not have my on-line computer game Funbridge. I had a list of 8 things I wanted done.

I brought my computer in to have a fan replaced. They charged a substantial amount of money to provide a backup prior to proceeding, and while I approved it - in retrospect I shouldn't have. My real complaint is that when replacing the fan they disconnected one of the speakers - or in some rendered it inoperable. I returned it to get it fixed and was told rather indignantly that it was broken when I brought it in as that could not have possibly happened during the repair. They refused to repair it, or even look at it to see what might be required.

Very quick initial assessment by the technician with no fee. (If you happen to leave power supply cord with them, ensure they note in the invoice log that you'd left it when you left laptop. I could have sworn I'd left mine, but there was no traceable record that I'd done so.) Take out of pocket cost with a grain of salt. I couldn't submit form without it, and I don't remember the amount that I paid

The computer was working before turned in to fix the button, when I picked up the laptop, the switch was fixed, but the whole computer dead. I did not know what did they do, or just it happened, they charge me for fixing the button, but this like the patient got to the hospital to fix his stomache, the dr. did operation and fix the stomache, but during the operation, the patient dead, but the dr. still charge for operation on his stomache...what's the meaning??????? STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUY, NO HONESTY AT ALL....

1. When i checked in i was told it would be completed in 72 hours or earlier. At or near the 72nd hour I returned to pick it up and it wasn't ready although i had been told they were working on it earlier in the day. 2. Since I could not leave the computer for another day, they stopped work , which i agreed to, and told me that all the Microsoft updates had been installed but that the spyware and defrag had not been run. I told them I would run the spyware and defrag myself. 3. I did not ask for a reduction in price, I paid the enitre amount. 4. When I got home I turned on the computer and found on Microsoft update had not been installed. I called and spoke to Gary who said he worked on my machine and reminded him that I was told all updates had been installed. I said I would bring it back the next day and would they please load the update. He first told me I Iwould need to leave the computer and I said I couldn't and then he said he had something where perhaps they could force the update to take. 5. I didn't go back, but contacted Microsoft. 6. I sent a survey response to the owner with the same information and indicated I was a repeat customer and very disappointed. My prior experience was great.

I took my laptop for the repair and they were able to find out that there is a crack in the motherboard. They had a full box of motherboard, so, they replaced my motherboard with one of those. They also added an extra hard drive twice as big as the original one. The price was amazingly low considering the work that they did for me. They also explained what the problem and what they are going to do to fix it. They did a great job and I would recommend them to anyone. The only problem is that they do not have very good parking facility.

I had originally purchased my laptop from them and was generally satisfied (Later I found out that the laptop that I bought was 'refurbished' and hence not quite the deal I thought it was.) I have been using the laptop for three years and thought it would benefit from a memory upgrade and perhaps reloading Windows and such. I called them and learned of the 'tuneup' which seemed exactly what I needed. On the phone I was told that they can turn around a tune up in 24 hours. When I arrived at the store, they said a day, maybe two. At the end of the two days my computer was not close to being ready, it would take two more days. If I had been given any indication that it might take that long I would have chosen to take in the computer at a different time. When I called to find out when it would be ready, I* was simply told later today, everytime I called--not very helpful.

I liked the laptop I got. I had to do a lot of follow-up on getting answers to my questions, such as my warranty. It was good to have a storefront to go to and talk to. I'd rather deal with them than a mail service.

The memory upgrade was fine. Seattle Laptop returned the computer with a broken plastic part. I had to make two extra trips to their store, which turned out to be a waste of time. I asked them to repair the part they had broken, and they refused.

They told me it would cost about $40. They also made me wait quite a while, and I couldn't see that they were particularly busy. Also, I could see that the senior person did not want the kid who talked to me to tell me what the matter was, so I had to ask when I picked the machine up.
Description of Work: My laptop needed the battery changed. Not the big battery, that needs to be recharged, but the small battery that keeps internal time.

The three guys working that day were all owners, I believe. They were very helpful, knowledgeable, and seemed sincere in their efforts to accommodate us. I would definitely return and encourage others to check them out.
Description of Work: We took our used laptop in for service because the screen was fading in and out. The tech who helped us asked several questions before writing up the work order, and even turned it on to check for ''red screen'' as we were not sure what he meant. This was apparently a sign that the screen would have to be replaced. When we saw that it was clearly red when the first image appeared, he said a new screen would cost over $200. So we decided to look at their refurbished computers instead (they have an large selection). He said he would give us $75 for ours which we could apply towards the purchase. We ended up with a similar, but newer computer with more memory for under $400 once the credit and a 20% discount was applied (there was an inventory sale going on that day).

The store where we purchased the laptop said the repair was not covered under the extended warranty and recommended we purchase a new motherboard from the manufacturer for $1000.00. We called a Vancouver computer repair store, and they said it sounded like a new powerjack needed to be soldered to the motherboard, but they did not do that kind of repair and did not know anyone in Vancouver or Portland who did. They recommended Seattle Laptop. We downloaded a form from Seattle Laptop's website and mailed the laptop to them on a Friday. We paid extra for 1 to 3 day turnaround, and they had it repaired by Tuesday, and we received it from them on Wednesday. They did a great job, and it cost pretty much what they estimated. Apparently, this is a common problem with laptops but not very many places do this type of repair.

WHILE THE MONITOR TOOK LONGER THAN ANTICIPATED DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SUPPLIER, THEY WERE QUICK TO NOTIFY ME AND ALLOW ME TO CANCEL REQUEST. WHEN THE MONITOR DID COME, THEY DID A GREAT JOB OF INSTALLING IT. SEATTLE LAPTOP ALSO NOTIFIED ME OF A RECALL OF THE LOGIC BOARD THAT THE IBOOK QUALIFIED FOR AND I WAS ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF THAT THROUGH THE APPLE STORE.
Description of Work: THE SCREEN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR AN APPLE IBOOK. SEATTLE LAPTOP GAVE ME THE BEST ESTIMATE BY FAR.
