Just before Thanksgiving I also left a phone message for Rick setting a completion date of Dec 1st. I would attach a couple photos, but can't figure out how to do it. We paid extra for an additional area to be evaluated. He did do a decent job. He got the plans to us in a timely manner.

The service didn’t work out. He came by and we walked around our sloped lot. He said the deal was only for two hours of time and he said to do the corner landscaping that we had talked and agreed on would be an additional $1,000. We only decided not to do the work when he didn’t circle round with any written proposal or timeframe – even after specifically asking for something. He was a nice guy but he did not follow through on the planting plan or provide us with a design.

Rick is very busy and was hard to schedule, but he did arrive on time on the scheduled date. I had a few ideas and he had a suggestion or two. He was to get back to me in a few days with a cost estimate of doing a project we discussed in the front yard. He never did. I feel I have to chase him down to get anything done or any interaction. He sounds knowledgeable, but unavailable and not particularly interested, so I probably wouldn't use him again. I did not get my money's worth, that's for sure.

This was a promotion on Angie's list. I bought it and it was supposed to be a deal where you purchased his consult service to come out and tell you what it is that they could do. I was in desperate need of some landscape work but what they did is sent me an email and said that they were really busy and to be sure to follow up with them about getting an appointment. They never did anything past that email and I was kind of put off by the whole thing . I thought that was kind of a rip off really because the whole tone of it was kind of high-handed on his part. Rick just acted like well you know I've got a lot of things going on then it's up to you to catch up with me so I thought badly actually on both parts on the part of Angie's list and on the part of Rick. If Angie's List puts on promotions like that then the people they're doing that with they should be working more proactively to make sure that the deal is really a deal and not just some baloney that promote some company. An easy 50 bucks for this company - never bothered to contact me even over time when they didn't hear from me. In the future I am not really inclined to purchase anymore of these "deals". I think they are just a promotion thing that benefits Angie's List and sends some leads to the service provider, who has probably already jacked up their "reduced rate" in the first place. Only value I see in Angie's List is the reviews.

It was a bad experience right form the start. Now, several plants have already died even though the work was completed in April and he won't do anything to fix it and puts the blame on me. He said several times that he wasn't getting enough money out of the job and it seems like this is the reason he doesn't really care whether or not I'm satisfied. The whole experience was just terrible.

Rick is easy to talk to and work with. He clearly has years of experience focusing on natural landscapes using native plantings. Rick evaluated our yard and made suggestions that were in line with our concerns. I would seek Rick as a possible contractor when we move forward with a larger landscaping remodel.

easy going. gave great advice on plants for my shady and sunny areas of my front garden. priced very well for expert advice.

He showed up on time, very good at communicating and accommodating to my schedule. Rick was very professional and pleasant to deal with. I am still waiting for the written evaluation and plant suggestions, I am sure he is very busy this time of year.

I wasnt able to get the services completed because the provider advised I wasnt in his area even though my area was listed in the fine details of his deal!

I scheduled the appointment more than 2 weeks in advance so it was disappointing to have the service provider cancel on the morning of the appointment. He gave no reason and did not follow through on his promise to reschedule. Obviously it wasn't important to him.

I kind of dislike the upsell process but they were professional. They came out and gave us a quote. They gave us a lot of options but the guy was kind of annoying. The interaction was great that they answer calls and e-mails and that was the good part.

We first made contact regarding this job around the holidays. I wasn't on any type of time line, and with the weather, I said it didn't have to be done right away. Although we waited for weather to get better & his schedule allow him to truly concentrate on this project, there was a break because of several days of snow & freezing temperatures. Once again, I made it clear that I was fine waiting for the right conditions. There were a couple delays due to conflicts in our schedules. Rick is very personable as well as professional. Everything was done as promised. I wanted a couple of things "tweaked," which he did without any issues. I would Rick Young Landscaping to family & friends. I just wish I could afford to do the whole yard! :-)

Rick was prompt in coming out to the house and looking at our yard - he called and scheduled it for Friday the week after we purchased the deal. He told us he'd sold quite a few of the deals, but didn't yet have any scheduled. He also tried to upsell the deal for relandscaping the front yard, We let him know via e-mail on Monday what we wanted him to complete (just the playspace area in the back) for the deal amount and asked when he could schedule us. No response. A call two weeks later resulted in an "I'm looking at my schedule and will call you in 2-3 days." No call. A call 2 weeks later got a voicemail and no return call. Meanwhile, we hired other people to do some of the preparatory work we'd asked Rick to perform as some of the service. They came, got their jobs done, and went. A call in early December again resulted in an "Your job is important to me. Yes, I remember you. I can't figure out when to schedule you yet, but will call you back." Four months later is unacceptable. We still can't get a commitment from him to do the work.

In September, I used Angie's List to find a contractor for bamboo control. Rick Young was highly rated, located near my residence and offering a voucher for 40 hours of labor. I called Rick and he responded promptly, coming over to see the scope of my needs. He was curious about how I found him, and I mentioned Angie's List. Rick soon emailed a quote, to which I replied "I just bought one of your Angie's List offers and we can begin when it works for you". When I followed up to schedule the work Rick informed me that because he had already visited and provided a quote, my project is not appropriate for the voucher and Angie's List should have refunded my purchase price. After telephoning Rick last week I have received a contract and expect the work to be completed before year-end, with payment directly to him.

Prompt to set up initial appointment and kept the appointment. I received a few emails (8/18) showing me different trees that could be used and natural stone for a possible patio. Then I didn't hear from Rick again for about 16 days. Since then though, I've only heard from him one time (10/16). I didn't want my project to extend so far into the fall/winter. I ended up asking for a full refund. I would much rather leave super positive feedback, just this time I can't do it.

Rick and his crew arrived bright and early, immediately set to work. They worked like demons and accomplished nearly twice what I actually expected them to. Rick is pleasant and easy to deal with. I plan on using Rick again and would recommend him without hesitation or reservation. Thank you, Rick Young!

I purchased a big deal from them and they were very professional and punctual but the price was way too high for the work they wanted to do.

Rick did a phenomenal job with my project. He treated my house as if it was his own and always operated with the utmost professionalism and with a high level of communication. When bidding on my project, the original plan called for steel edging. Rick suggested we go with an anodized aluminum project, which I agreed to. After we agreed to the bid, his vendor delivered a product that wouldn't look right in my landscaping and Rick, on his own, found a company to supply the originally requested steel edging. He did this without adding cost to the project. The care and level of ownership he provided in this example carries through to the rest of the project. The finished result is a very professional looking entry way and I would happily do business with him again.

This project went very well. The repairs were done quickly and efficiently and the landscaping was returned to its original condition when he was finished.

We sent Rick a sketch and approximate square footage of our yard to get an estimate for landscaping services. He emailed back and wanted to make an appointment to see our yard and discuss the plan. We set up a time. When he was about 45 minutes late, I called and left a message asking him to call and let me know what happened. He never called. He never emailed. He just completely blew us off.

I spent maybe a couple of thousand dollars. My interaction with him went very well. I started to get some spots on the lawn and he came back and analyzed what the issues were, so it was a good response on that.

Of the four landscapers I met, Rick was the most professional and his prices were very reasonable. Throughout the enterprise I felt very comfortable with the work he was doing. I had drawn out some simple dimensions on paper for him, and we also had already purchased plants. We had selected rock from Marenako's (Fall City) and he picked them up and installed them for us. Rick had several aesthetic (and practical) suggestions for us. He even put up with my little "add-ons" during the work and priced the extras appropriately. Most importantly, I was certain I could hand him the task and not have to check in frequently to make sure things were going as agreed. I trusted him to do the work I asked for. A friendly, hard-working group who did a terrific job and cleaned up very well after themselves. Based on my experience, I would recommend Rick to anyone.

When we called Rick Young Landscaping, it took them less than a week, from the estimate, which was free, to the day they began the job. It looks great. They did a great job cleaning up afterward. We are really happy with their work.
