Our Maytag dryer was making a noise. The dryer is about 15 years old. The contractor determined that the dryer needed a new blower wheel; he provided me with an estimate; I agreed to have the work done, and he was able to do the work on the same visit. The problem has been fixed. The final price was slightly lower than the estimate because the replacement part was less expensive than the contractor originally thought.
Description of Work: Replaced blower wheel.

Another vendor flaked out on me and I needed a professional service provider, obviously the last one wasn't. I called Mark and he said it might take him a couple days. I told him the laundry room to the apartment was accessible anytime. To my surprise, he called me later that afternoon and said he was at the property already and had fixed the dryer. Awesome!!!

I was in a pinch, another repair service totally flaked on getting out to do a repair at a rental property and I didn't find out until 5PM. I called Mark and he was out by 7PM. He was knowledgeable and professional. The only downside is that he doesn't do warranty repair work for Amana, but that's pretty rare among the independent service companies. He was able to diagnose the issue (failed compressor) so that I could have it repaired under warranty.

Mark arrived within the two hour window that he said he would, quickly diagnosed the problem (broken thermastat) gave me an estimate to complete the work, and then fixed the problem. During our initial phone conversation he told me how to prep the fridge so he wouldn't have to spend time (and labor $) defrosting the freezer. It was a surprisingly pleasant experience, and we ended up fixing the problem for $130 instead of buying a new fridge.

He was awesome. He was really amazing. He knew everything about every appliance I had in my kitchen without even doing any research on it. He had a fair price. He called ahead and I told him what was wrong and he brought in the part. He was really quick and it was just like in an hour. He was fantastic. We would definitely call him again for his service.

He told me he doesn't go as far north as I live anymore. He gave me advice on my problems and referrals and I really appreciated it. He told me I might or might not need a new board for my fridge and I could try defrosting to clean the top and bottom first and the problem may recur. His advice worked, the problem went away but he told me it might come back. He has great ratings. He diagnosed the problem as a possible bad board which controls the defrost. He said if that was the problem then it would recur. I called him, left a message and he got back to me 3-4 hours later.

This is the second time I've used Mark (and my second review of him here), the first time was in 2007 to fix a clothes dryer, which is still going strong. 2 weeks ago, the bake element in my 25 year old oven burst into flame (I put it out before it damaged the oven), so I called Mark. He wasn't able to come out for a week, so gave me instructions on how to try to replace it myself. After looking at how the element was attached, I decided it would be better to get him to do it. I looked at new stoves, but decided it just wasn't worth it as everything else on mine still works fine. Mark showed up on time, did his usual excellent job, explained some stuff to me about the oven I didn't know, and the total price was at the low end of the estimate range he'd given me on the phone. Seattle is very lucky to have a gem like Mark.

Description of Work: I was having a problem with my dryer. I told him over the phone what was going on. He told me that based on my description, he could tell that something was stuck in the drum. Sure enough he was right. He was very knowlegeable and friendly. I definitely recommend Mark Wiseman.

It went well. Mark said it went especially well with the furniture dolly and the box frame that I provide so the oven just slid right out with ease. Mark also gave us some tips on oven maintenance. I would recommend Mark to anyone who has problems especially with GE Appliances. He is an excellent repair man.
Description of Work: I had a 1977 GE double wall oven that needed repair. The wiring terminal end that connects to a heating element broke off behind the oven and the oven needed to be pulled. With the aid of a furniture dolly and a box frame that I provided and with some muscle help from our neighbor we were able to pull the oven and slide it out with ease. The repair work on the wiring only took a few minutes. Total job on site was about an hour.

He was an incredible wealth of information and was so willing to help me and walk me through this process. He didn't have to help me and insist that he send someone to come out, but he didn't. He told me where to get parts and how to test the different pieces. I really appreciate his generosity and I will look into his service in the future.

My 14 month old refrigerator quit working on the weekend. I called Mark on Monday morning and he was at my house with the hour. He promptly and expertly evaluated the problem, including two phone calls to tech support form GE and his own parts supplier. He deteremined that the problem was not one he could get parts for in a timely fashion, displayed a valuble knowledge of how to get my refrigerator working by the fastest route possible. He then didint call me for the service call. Unfortunately, this meant calling the GE repair service directly, who gave me a next day appt. Mark was personable, professional and reliable. I would definately call him for any problems with my appliances, especially my GE appliances, which he knows very well.

After calling another highly rated Angie's List repair service and being told that it would be two weeks before they could come out, I called Mark Wiseman. I left a message and he called me back almost immediately, but I missed him. He called me again and when I told him what was happening with my washer he diagnosed that it was a broken coupler, and that the entire charge would be around $110. He told me tat he could be out to my house in 20 to 40 minutes, and he arrived promptly after 35 minutes. He was very warm and friendly and had very neat, clean and obviously organized appearance. Within minutes he had expertly taken the washer apart and found that it was indeed a broken coupler. He had the part and quickly replaced it. He noticed that my drier was not properly vented and offered to correct it, which he did, also very quickly. After he was finished he clearly explained his charges for services and parts. He took payment and cleaned up leaving my laundry room much cleaner than when he found it. I would DEFINITELY use Mark again.
Description of Work: Mark repaired my washing machine that wasn't agitating or spinning, and after he finished fixed my drier vent that was too long and not venting properly.

Mark thoroughly explained what the problem was. There was nothing wrong with the dryer; it was the poor venting installation. He cleaned everything out and explained how to easily correct the problem myself, thus saving me from a costly repair.

He showed up a little late, but called to let me know in advance (which I appreciated). He promptly wtarted working on the washing machine and was able to determine the problem in about 20 minutes. He then looked at teh dryer and told me the exhaust hose was too long. He installed another exhaust hose and then went outside to make sure it was working properly. He was terriffic and I would use again in a minute.
Description of Work: Washing machine was leaking. Mark completely took apart the washer to determine what was causing problem and determined there was no leak, instead the drain hose was backflowing. My dryer was toaking a long time to dry my clothes. He also fixed the dryer by replacing the exhaust hose and climbed on the roof to make sure it was working properly.

I called Mark Wiseman Appliance Service Monday morning, explained to him what was happening to my fridge and he was here in 10 minutes! I couldn't believe it! Mark checked out everything and told me it was the relay assembly that needed replaced. I was relieved. I know nothing about refriderators, so he could have told me anything to up the price, but he didn't. Mark is a very honest man and also very nice and dependable. He had to order the part and come back the next morning and he came back exactly at the time he promised. I am so pleased that I have found a repair man that I can trust and depend on. Thanks Mark!

Great. Mark was quite sure what the problem was just by talking to me over the phone and he came prepared to replace the defroster. He saved a lot of time and therefore money by having me defrost the refrigerator before he came so that he would not have to spend time getting through the ice. He gave me detailed instructions about how to defrost it without ruining my floor from water run-off. He showed up right when he said he would and called when he was 15 minutes away, just as he said he would. He was pleasant, neat, concerned and explained exactly what he was doing.

He was very responsive in several telephone calls, and recommended where the tube would be clogged. We made arrangements for a service repair, but before he came, we were able to remove the debris for the tube. On short notice, Mark was happy to cancel the service without any obligations. Overall, the experience was very positive.
Description of Work: Mark Wiseman provided fantastic phone advice to solve the problem ourselves, which turned out to be a clogged drainage tube for our dishwasher. By the detail of his advice, he clearly had experience and knew the mechanism and how to go about fixing it.

Our gas stove starting acting up out of the blue one day. Whenever we turned it on, the house would start to smell of gas. Sometimes, if we opened the oven door when this was happening, it would light (with a whoosh). Other times not. I didn't want to call the gas company, because I knew they would just come out and turn our gas off. I called Mark, and he diagnosed it over the phone (he said it was the igniter). I happened to try to make the appointment during a cold snap, and other people I called said they were too busy with furnace repairs. Not Mark. He came out 3 days later, on a Saturday. One day before he came he called to get the oven model # to ensure he would have the correct part. Fixed the problem, and answered any questions I had. Overall, a great experience.
Description of Work: When we turned on the oven on our gas stove, the house would smell of gas. Bob came out to our house only a few days after I called and fixed the issue. While here, he also noticed another small problem with the oven and fixed that too.

Mark responded to my call promptly and was able to fit me in without delay. He arrived a little early and had no problem using the part that I had previously purchased. A couple of service people that I called refused to use my part! He worked quickly and professionally explaining everything as he worked and gave me good advice about how to use the soap in the future. He made sure I was using his approved soap in the dishwasher. When I tested it with my next wash, it worked perfectly.
Description of Work: I contacted another appliance repairman that was listed on Angie's List and he recommended his brother, who serviced my area. The other appliance repairman only services West Seattle. Mark replaced the soap dispenser in my electric dishwasher. The latch was broken so all the soap was being distributed during the pre-wash cycle. The dishes were coming out dirty. I called the appliance company and purchased the part myself thinking I could replace the cup but there were some electrical aspects to it, so I decided to let a professional deal with it.

I fixed the problem myself in an evening, saving an expensive service call. Thus his total bill was $0. Thanks, Mark! I know who I'll call when something (really) breaks!

I first called Scott Wiseman, who doesn't come North Seattle, so he referred me to his brother Mark, a former GE employee who's been running his own business for 2 years. I called, and Mark returned my call quickly. He ran me through some detailed preliminary troubleshooting over the phone, and determined that I needed a new heating element. He was able to come out the same day and showed up on time. He was correct about the heating element, and also gave me a lot of good advice on maintaining my washer and dryer. He's the person I will call from now on whenever any of my major appliances break.
Description of Work: My 25 year old clothes dryer stopped drying. Mark replaced the heating element, checked the rest of the dryer, then inspected and rebalanced my washing machine. He also suggested replaced the dryer venting hose (which I had been planning to do but hadn't gotten around to), and used a much better quality replacement than what I had.
