They were great, and I would hire them again in a flash. I really like the front man, and even though it was a trivial job they did not treat it that way. They guy who I was in contact with told me he knew a way to make the job easier and cheaper. All of their guys were very professional, neat, and tidy. The day that they came out to do the work it was pouring rain, but they still came out to get the job done. They also cleaned up so well, it was almost like they were never even there.

The team at Lifestyle Landscapes is fantastic! We had several other firms come and bid our project but after meeting with Brian the decision was easy. He carefully listened as we explained our goals and it was clear that he had a lot of knowledge and experience designing landscapes. A few weeks after our initial meeting, we met to review the landscape design. My wife and I were blown away with the quality of their work! They came prepared with huge print-out plans of the entire landscape and carefully walked us through each of the changes. In addition to the CAD prints, they gave us color photos of all the proposed plants and trees. The bid folder itemized and explained each part of the job and I loved their approach – they gave us the flexibility to prioritize pieces of the project to stay on budget. Our backyard was particularly challenging because of a steep slope and very uneven ground. They excavated a large amount of soil to level the yard and created some elevated beds to offset the drop. The new planting beds are edged with a rock retaining wall that is both functional and attractive. Another challenge was the front entry which had a number of cracks in the concrete steps. Brian referred us to a concrete specialist who advised that while the cracks were unsightly they were not a structural problem and that we could cover them. Brian chose a very nice slate and his crew did a fantastic job of turning an eyesore into a beautiful entryway. The communication throughout the process was excellent. We replaced the back deck and fencing at the same time using another contractor. Brian helped coordinate the various stages of the project and even came up with an innovative solution for the deck design to maximize our usable space. They also helped by providing the property drawings necessary to obtain a permit for the deck. The work on the final landscaping phase went surprisingly fast. Within a week our entire yard was completely transformed and we are very satisfied with the final results. The landscape looks beautiful and with the arrival of summer we’ve been enjoying our new backyard. We highly recommend Brian and his team at Lifestyle Landscapes.

This was a modification to a total relandscaping of our rear yard on Lake Washington that Lifestyle Landscape did 2 years ago. Similar to the our previous experience everything went very smoothly and we were very pleased with the outcome. Because we were already familiar with Lifestyle we made all of the arrangements via email and we got exactly what we wanted on budget and schedule. We would recommend Lifestyle to anyone needing landscaping services.

They could barely do what we needed, even the basic stuff. He was definitely pricey and we ended up not going with them.

The project was unbelievably perfect and I couldn't have been happier. It was beautiful, done well and clean. They did extra stuff and it was wonderful. I haven't used them for any other landscaping because their prices are too high.

Lifestyle Landscapes is an excellent and very professional company. They provided invaluable and detailed assistance in developing a design for this project based on our original, preliminary concept. Everyone we worked with was pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. Quite a bit of time was spent meeting with us, surveying the property, discussing options, and developing large schematic CAD drawings showing exactly what would be done. The preparation was careful and not rushed. The company provided color photos of every plant they suggested we use and samples of the pavers and stepping stones. After discussing the first proposal, we suggested some changes and a revised design was provided. Once we agreed on a final design, the actual installation work went very quickly. Their incredibly efficient and talented crew arrived early and quickly removed the sidewalk and old sod and began transforming the yard. The project was completed in less than five days. The workmen put in full days and did not waste time or leave to work on other projects. Thanks to the team at Lifestyle Landscapes, we now have a beautiful new yard that is more functional and a pleasure to look at.

We are new Angie's List members, but still wanted to rave about the job that Lifestyle Landscapes did on our yard, over five years ago. We asked for three companies to prepare bids on replacing our sloping front yard with a retaining wall (but had no clear idea of other work to be done). We received estimates on the back of an envelope, on a standard bid form, and in a professionally prepared booklet that Lifestyle submitted covering every aspect of the project, as they suggested. Brian Horstmann, our project manager, holds a degree in Botany, Landscape Architecture, or some other equally as esoteric a discipline. There is no type of grass, plant, or shrub that he can't identify and comment upon. He was not only extremely professional and a sincerely nice guy, he also was inordinately patient with us as we negotiated both the numbers and the project to a consensus. He even accompanied us to the hardscape suppliers, e.g., Mutual Materials, so we could finally decide on the look we wanted. To say he was understanding of our apprehensions is an understatement! But, he persevered with us and managed the project from start to finish with the same professionalism and good humor that marked our first meetings with him. Once the job began, the crew was punctual, hard-working, and obviously experienced. They cleaned up the area each evening, and were conscientious about keeping the yard safe until the next morning. As always, things don't go exactly as planned. But, when the crew inadvertently struck the water service, Lifestyle was quick to hire a plumber to install a new line at no additional cost to us. That they accepted responsibility for this accident was another indication of the company's professional ethics. When completed, the yard and new wall were the envy of the block. We still receive compliments on the appearance of the hardscape work. We should mention that Lifestyle was not the least expensive of the bids we received. However, by far, they were the most professional. And, from planning through final implementation, we received nothing but a FIRST CLASS product from Lifestyle. We feel we got great value for what we spent.

I had another great experience with Lifestyle Landscapes. I met a few times with the consultant and designer, taking the original plan that had been worked up a couple years ago and adjusting it based on some new thoughts and desires I had, plus changing the scope to include the driveway and side yards. My ideas and wishes were listened to carefully, and we came up with some creative solutions to needs and a balance of "while we're at it..." with keeping the costs within at least the same order of magnitude as I had originally planned. The construction was really fast -- 15 days or so start to finish -- and that was with a little weather. The crew did top-notch work installing the design. As they did in the back yard, they paid close attention to proper drainage and built items such as the retaining walls and patio with precision. There were a couple of glitches during the project, which were handled very professionally. One day during demolition, the crew found my gas line. They called me to let me know that it had happened and that they were taking care of it. By the time I got home, the leak had been repaired, the city had elected to replace my gas meter while they were at it, and the project manager had arranged for the city to come turn on the gas again once I got home. At another point, I noticed that the balusters on my new porch had been installed incorrectly (some upside-down); I called the project manager in the morning and the balusters were corrected by the time I got home from work that day. The result was truly transformational. My neighbors love it, and months later I still have people stop and comment about it when they drive or walk by. The design is classy, fits the house and rest of the yard, stands out but still blends nicely with the neighbors' yards, and is relatively low maintenance, which was a key design criteria I had given at the beginning.

Their hardscape work in my backyard involved some dirt, rocks and gravel. They got rid of the old materials and brought in some antique bricks, and did an outstanding job. They were fantastic. They had estimated three days for the work, and actually finished it in two and a half days. When I questioned a couple of things related to price he was willing to review it and reduce it a bit. The finished project looks absolutely beautiful. This work will increase the value of my house.

We thought we would have to have the wall completely replaced. Brian came out and told us about some new laws about retaining walls and the city. If the wall was done on the city's property it would be an additional $450 a month on the property tax. If the wall was replaced completely with new materials the fee would be instated. Brian did a great job of getting the wall taken care of and I was very appreciative of him being aware of the new laws regarding retaining walls. He did a great job and I cannot thank him enough. He was very professional, sent me multiple estimates, he was very prompt. A great job all around.

Overall we had a very good experience. The job was scheduled sooner than we would have guessed it would be and was completed right on time. There was always excellent communication with the designers and the workers. The workers were conscientious of our neighbors and worked hard to finish on time. The quality of the work is excellent and there was diligent followup after the job was completed. The impression made means that I will probably use their services again in the future as the need arises. They are more expensive than some, but being able to get to the job quickly and complete it on time was important to us - a less expensive company might not have been able to fulfill the time-line commitment.

Lifestyles did an excellent job and the yard still looks great today. There was only one problem we encountered. After installing the retaining wall it was approx. 10 feet off of the location where we had originally designed it to be. I was out of town when the wall was put in so we didn't get a chance to stop them. I called Brian and he had the wall moved the next day. In order to do so he also had to bring in 10 yards of additional fill and more bark for the play area. There was no additional charge and they took care of it right away. In addition they stopped by a year later to check on how the yard looked. Upon inspection they noticed that some of the drainage we installed wasn't getting the water off of our property as expected. Again they had a crew come out and fix this problem. They did the work free of charge and I only paid for the cost of the extra drainage materials. Overall we were really impressed with the professionalism and effort put into the work. I would definitely recommend them for future projects.

The experience was excellent. We were told about every step of the process and it was documented. When you are dealing with that much money you want that kind of documentation. They were very responsive with our requests for changes, some we had to pay for but others they just did. Third they have assured us of a lasting quality product. They told us they will come back to review their work several times.

I've seen favorable reviews for this firm on Angie's List and also seen them mentioned in Seattle Magazine, so that's why we contacted them. It was proposed that we break the front yard into 3 areas and entirely move our entry way. That sounds like a lot more change and work than we need. Basically, we don't have a clear idea of what the end result might be like and if it would better unify our home and our yard, as we won''t get to see any solid plans unless we put money down. We're very visual, so this makes the selection process difficult for us. With an estimated cost of $25,000 for the front yard and $25,000 for the back yard we just aren't comfortable making that kind of financial commitment without a clearer plan.
