Elegant Hardwood Floor

Description of Work: Installed hardwood floor with two coats of water based finish. The work was rough with only 100 grit sanding and uneven roller mark. Uneven gaps to the wall. Trim to the fireplace hearth was unacceptable. Have to call back to refinish living room and touch up other rough areas.

Description of Work: I hired this company to refinish the floors in my entire house (1700 sq ft and a stair case) the price was great and they were willing to come out the next day, which was the Saturday of Labor day weekend and I needed it done in a hurry so I was sold. The owner and I drew up a contract and I was sure to include that I wanted the tread AND risers done on the stair case. They crew spent the entire first day sanding, and put the first coat (a sealant coat) on the first day and I was told the next day they would buff and put 2 coats of poly on. The next day they came and were only at our house for 4 hours when they called my husband to say they were all done and they left. I was unhappy when I got to the house and saw that they only did the tread on the steps and not the risers, plus I know there was no way they buffed and put 2 coats on poly down in only 4 hours. I definitely feel they were hoping I wouldn't notice but I'm no fool. Days later the owner called asking for the rest of his money, I said I wasn't going to finish paying him until he finished the job. We went back and for in a heated argument because he claimed he did put 2 coats on and he said "the risers are too time consuming to sand so you should just paint them". I reminded him that it was in the contract for him to sand and refinish the risers and I was NOT going to paint them. He eventually offered to come the next day, refinish the risers and put another coat of poly on. He did show up and the work was eventually done correctly, he even cleaned up the mess I complained about them leaving the first time. | |In all, I think I got what I paid for, it was a way lower price than anyone else offered and I had to fight to get what I wanted but as long as you make sure this company doesn't try and pull a fast one, then their work is good, plus they are very hard workers. I would use them again, if I needed the job done quick and cheap.
