The service provided by the contractor directly was very good and very professional. We had issues with the installation however. We had selected this contractor dispite a higher bid on installation because the installer sold us on the high quality of his work. We were encouraged to have the job done while we were vacationing and when we returned the job was incomplete. The wrong trim had been installed, and the installer was billing us for an additional $300 because he had to replace the underfloor in one room. We agreed to the cost increase once we understood the problem as we agreed it was hard to detect that this room had a different underfloor until he had torn out the old floor. The installer grudgingly replaced the trim, blaming the contractor for the mismatch. When I noted that the trim amount looked tight, I asked him to replace a particular piece last as, due to natural variations in the floor color, it was not so noticeable and would be acceptable if he ran short. He insisted he had plenty, and, of course, did not. We were left with the mismatched piece right in the entry, at the front door. He said he would be back when he got another piece, and would finish the other unfinished areas. Despite calls to the contractor and to him, after 6 months he has not returned. We found and installed suitable trim for the two unfinished areas, which I honestly did not feel were the installers responsibility, but he had said he was doing it. We will probably replace the floor guide on a sliding door closet ourselves, but the mismatched trim is still troubling. We paid far to much for this flooring to be left with this sore point. It was a dilemma to rate this provider. We love the floor and we were satisfied with her direct actions and responses, and the flooring installation itself is very good, but would hesitate to use or recommend because of apparently poor communication between the contractor and her installer. I am reminded daily when I step across that bad piece of trim.
