The Grout Doctor

Project went well and was done in about 2-3 hours, and I received what I expected--noticeably clean, white grout and caulking. Everything was neat and tidy and no messy applications. John also did small grout repairs in the kitchen and second bathroom and installed a splash guard on a tub/shower at no extra cost. I had previously had the grout replacement work done by Hammond Knoll of Tacoma at 3 times the cost, and the grout looked as bad as ever, even after a "supervisor" came out after I complained. No changes were made, no reduction in cost.

John came to the house to estimate the cost and check on the dimensions. He tested an area with a cleaning substance. The estimate was below other estimates by a considerable amount - although in fairness, the other two contractors proposed to strip away the last of the old sealer. John arrived as planned and quickly set up the work. We discussed whether the refrigerator, washer and dryer could be pulled out to access the flooring. He pushed the washer and dryer back to get as far as he could (the space to pull out these appliances is very limited) and removed the refrigerator grill to work under the front. He worked quietly and checked in periodically for any input. He finished about when I expected given the floor space after putting down the sealer which was a low sheen as I rrequested

We made an appointment for an estimate and were surprised that it wouldn't cost more. He arrived 30 minutes late to do the work but had to come back later due to a power outage. He was careful in his work and cleaned up after himself. He was on time both times he came back. Everything looks much better than it did.

John Start returned my first call the evening of the call, set up an appointment to give me an estimate, and scheduled the work. He was professional and got right to work. The job was completed in one morning. All looked much improved. John included without charge the recaulking of the sink that I had forgotten to mention during his first visit. His price was eminently reasonable. I would use his services again and recommend his work.

I can't thank John enough for coming out and giving me an estimate and evaluation to fix the mold in the shower. John was prompt, knowledgeable and honest. Exactly the kind of service you want and can trust! A+++

I read about the Grout Doctor on Angie's List, and called the number. We traded phone messages for a while before finally connecting on email. He was very prompt on doing the estimate and we scheduled the work for 2 weeks later. It took him about 4.5 hours to replace all of the grout and sealant in our shower. It looks fabulous! We are very happy with the results - it looks like we have a new shower!

The shower came out great and John noted that the kitchen couldn't be done completely because of some previous tile wok that we did, putting a paint on the grout to make it white. He cleaned it up very nicely and adjusted his bill (down) because he didn't do everything on the quote.

I bought in four people for estimates, and he was one of two people who tapped on the walls to make sure they were okay. Estimate was professionally written up as well. He did great work and he even removed the blop of grout I had on the bottom of my tub when I tried to regrout myself. I even skipped using the Angie's List $20 off coupon and told him to keep the $20 as a tip. I wish I had more bathrooms for him to tile!

Overall very satisfied with the work. There were a few missed spots and places that needed touch up, but it was easy to reach John and he came back as promised to fix the problems. Felt like the value was definitely worth it!

We got an estimate from John but it took us over a month until we were ready for him to do the work. He still honored the estimate although it was more than 30 days old. He did the work but when it dried the grout didn't match. I emailed him and he responded right away. It turns out the previous owner had tinted the original grout so John needed to tweak it until it matched. He came back and made the correction and the job is as close to 100% as it can be. What's cool about John is that he's honest. When we called him for the estimate I'd wanted him to regrout everything and he told us we didn't need to do that. He could easily have done exactly what we asked but he obviously is a conscientious guy who's interested in doing right by his customers.

He was responsive, punctual, and professional. I will be using his services.

They sent one person to do the work. He was prepared for the work and knowledgeable. He had charts of different grouts to match the color with the tiles. He was thorough and very good. He was late by 15 minutes the first time he came to give the estimate, it was the first appointment of the day and for me it matters. He was late by 20 to 25 minutes the second time.

John came to give me an estimate and performed the service the same day in a jiffy. He even arrived a bit ahead of schedule. We were very pleased with the services!

He was on time (both for estimate and for actual work), knowledgeable, quick and affordable. He even caulked around the bottom of the glass panel at the bottom of my shower, which I never even asked him to do. He also took $20 off from the coupon through Angie's List.

Promptly responded to my phone call; came for an estimate. Showed up generally on time(about 10 min. late); grout was cleaned quite well at reasonable price(there was a good Angie's List discount). I also inquired about cleaning marble and he declined-saying that he could put a gloss coat on it, but that's not what I wanted; I needed someone who did marble polishing.

Great! He explained at length about the pros and cons of caulk or epoxy for the entryway. He explained how to keep the shower grout clean for longer.

Even though the job turned out to encompass less work than I anticipated, John was happy to do the work, and did a terrific job!

He warned us and let us know that some of the new grout might discolor and that we could just give us a call. Sure enough some of it discolored and he was out very quickly to fix it. He has the cheapest prices I have ever seen.

It was a great experience. He was on time. He showed us the problem and showed what it would take to fix it. He gave a clear and concise estimate in writing. When he showed up to do the work, he was on time again. So far everything looks great. There is no problem.

John checked out the project, gave me a good bid for the work and arranged to do it in a timely manner. He did a good job and I was satisfied.

The price was great for the service. They came on the time and day that they stated they were going to come.

I sent an email and a left a phone message, got a return phone call the next day (left a message for me). We arrange to have him come out for a bid later in the week. He arrived on time for the bid and completed the bid in under an hour. He included the Angie's List discount without me having to ask for it and we booked a time to do the work (approx. 10 days later). He called ahead to remind me of the appointment and confirmed his arrival time. He arrived on time, completed the work without delays or problems. Total stay at the house was approx. 2.5 hours.

Every thing went great from start to finish.

He was very prompt and professional. The bathroom surround, the floor area, and part of a well was about $200. The large shower stall was $99. The price was depending on the size of the job. I feel the price was very competitive. I would use him again in the future and would recommend him to others.

He's great! He has come out on time, and has been really responsive. I am very pleased.
