Horrible, in a word. We love the neighborhood, and would love the house if 1) it were done, 2) the builder wasn't such a pain to deal with and 3) it hadn't been such a stressful process. Here's a list:
They poured the wrong foundation (but did comp us an outdoor fireplace - that they mistakenly built).
They forgot almost all of our upgrades, and it wasn't until we pointed them out during construction that they were remedied.
They made changes to the floor plan without notification and removed some of the key features we wanted in the house. We had to force them to change back to the original plans.
They were not clear on what features were upgrades and which were standard. We are still missing items that should have been standard features (cabinetry).
They forgot to run phone and cable lines to the house. We didn't have phone for almost a month - the phone company finally patched us into the line that was for the neighboring house which was still under construction. We had a 5' deep hole in our front yard (and young children) for 3 months because of this.
They moved our close date up (yay), then promptly missed the close date because the didn't pass the landscape inspection, and oh, they forgot to call the health department for the septic tank inspection. This cost us extra money, because we had to expedite funds for the new closing date. They then offered to rent us back our own house - when our money was in escrow and they couldn't pass inspection!! We found out 3 weeks after we closed that they never even scheduled the final electrical inspection on the house. How we closed, I will never know.
The listing agent's office was quite rude and unhelpful during the process. Much of the paperwork that should have been completed by either the builder or the listing agent had to be completed by us or our agent.
Before writing this review, we gave Oakridge some time to fix what went wrong. After all, new construction sometimes has items that need repair. We are now 6 months post purchase and they occasionally show up to repair small items after repeated requests. The major repairs are still outstanding - including the fact that our backyard is a swamp! They only do 'basic' drainage - the 10'x4' 8"-deep puddle in my yard should qualify. Or maybe, the water seeping through the foundation into our crawl space.
They make appointments, then don't show up. If they do show up, they can be HOURS late. They are non-responsive to most forms of communication, from myself, the neighbors, and the HOA. This is the first new home we've purchased, so we have little to compare to, but our realtor said this was the worst experience of her 13 year career.
Update July 2014 Oakridge has completed most of the repairs, except the largest and most inconvenient one. The drainage issue in the backyard (which causes water to seep in through our foundation) has not been addressed. They've committed to sending a crew out to do the work twice - and not shown up at all to do the work. No call, no email, just don't show up.
