We were extremely pleased with the outcome of our project! They do work with other companies so we got several discounts on nearly all of the materials. We felt the work was done very well and for the most part efficient (sometimes a worker was a little late to arrive or the materials were not in on time but that is to be expected on projects since there are so many moving parts. When that did occur we were notified by the project manager). We were on a budget and they did a great job recommending materials and places to go so we could stay within our budget. I never felt any pressure from them in terms of up-selling. We did do one adjustment with our shower based on one of the installer's idea to expand it…it was great that he came up with and they made sure we were on board before making adjustments. We were very impressed with the tile work…he spent careful time to make sure everything was lined up properly, dried, etc…Those that worked with the demo and installation also did a great job. Everyday whatever work they did they would sweep or vacuum in the bathroom and move items aside so we could access our closet and also it led to a lot less dust. So I would say there was great communication throughout the project. We would definitely consider using them again if we do other work in our home
Description of Work: We had JA remodel our master bathroom. We did a complete remodel of removing carpet and adding tile to the floor and partial walls, enlarged the shower with added tile and new shower panel (bought from Amazon..on JA's recommendation and we love it!), added new cabinets, sinks, hardware, faucets, toilet and a stand alone bathtub.

We had never attempted a kitchen remodel before and so nervous about it. Friend recommended J & A remodeling and we were absolutely happy about their great work. The owner Jemal did an amazing job of making the very most of our kitchen space. He was wonderfully creative. Our gorgeous bamboo cabinates arrived on schedule and were installed expertly by Jemal's team. Ditto for the beautiful countertop installed by the team too. Top quality and an outstanding Coustomer service , J & A remodeling is the best. I know I have my dream Kitchen!!!

We recently had our bathrooms updated by J & A construction. We were very pleased with all aspects of this project (from the free in-house estimate provided by Ahmed, the project management by Jemal and Khalid, to the great work done by Victor). There were some minor issues here and there but Jemal and Khalid were quick in taking care of them to our satisfaction. They were always available for any questions/concerns throughout the project. Our bathrooms look amazing and we’re very happy!

Positives: 1. Professionalism: Both J&A employees (Ahmed co-owner/sales and Khalid the PM), Jose and Jose’s contacts, were consistently professional and courteous throughout the entire project. Ahmed became less responsive after the project started, but would respond eventually. I also appreciated Khalid the PM who checked in daily except on the weekends, and maintained his composure when issues were raised. 2. Punctuality: They’re very timely, and almost always showed up within 30-min of scheduled time, something I truly appreciate. One thing a homeowner hates is people are repeatedly tardy or no-shows. Also, the project was finished slightly ahead of schedule. 3. Issues management – whenever I raised issues, both Jose and Khalid would acknowledge and agreed to fix and made good efforts to fix, and several were fixed to much better results, only that some simply couldn’t be corrected such as no insulation on exterior walls. 4. Change-orders: there was a few minor change orders, and they responded positively to those without introducing any project delays. Negatives: 1. Price: between giving me a jack-of-all-trades guy to do the almost everything except tiling and door-painting, and the project-management model they practice, the $18K+ was way too expensive. When I signed the contract, even though I felt it was high for the scope, I liked that they were able to begin relatively quickly, and I was under the impression that I’d get licensed plumber and licensed electrician as the 3-men crew that they told me about. That didn’t happen, and Jose was mostly the one-man show until tiling and door-painting when I didn’t like Jose’s quality painting the doors. 2. Quality: On Day 1 I raised the concern that jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none Jose to do all the jobs. J&A reassured me that Jose was one of their best guys and would do a good job meeting my expectations. The final finish product on initial and quick glance, look pretty decent. But upon close examination as a homeowner would, sloppiness was found in many places (see photos). Brand new doors dented here and chipped there, shower edge not neatly drywalled and lined up, thinset residual on the charcoal pebble tile, poorly finished drywall which they had to fix twice (Jose brought in drywall guy for the fix), 4, 5 areas on shower walls had much wider spacing than the rest, etc. Bigger quality issues were (1) they did not insulate two exterior walls that the shower has – 2 of 3 walls are exterior. This is when it’s invaluable that a homeowner is able to stay home full-time, to see who comes, when they come, how many come, what the demolished state look like, what materials and quality of them are brought to the jobs, etc. (2) toilet was irregularly installed – normally toilet would be 15” from the wall, and in my case I also wanted it to center facing the shower. The toilet was installed several inches beyond 15” off the wall and sat facing the left of the shower. Initially, Jose insisted that there was a joist blocking him from installing it in the proper place, but I didn’t believe him and hired a plumber to go down to crawl space to inspect and take photo of the area for me. Khalid the PM was there when the plumber did this, and the plumber showed proof that there was plenty of room from the joist to install the toilet properly. We did settle on $1100 deduction from the final payment to close out project with the issues remained that I am to resolve on my own. 3. Lack of tidiness and cleanness: while Jose always cleaned up after, he wasn’t a detail kind of guy and didn’t do a good job in keeping the area and things clean. For example, when texturing the wall, he didn’t cover the crown molding, and a section of it was covered in texture speckles. Or he’d be walking in and out of the house with bottom of his shoes having mud, texture and paint on them, and the floor he walked frequently on and the deck outside where he left his tools and trash, were heavily stained of whiteness. They didn’t remove trash and debris until mid week 2 when I pestered them as I became more and more agitated watching the trash pile up. After project was done, J&A did send a pressure-washing guy who did a great job to clean up the deck, but still there was adhesive that simply wouldn’t come out, or how my plants on the deck were covered with white stuff that probably came from when they were washing their tools. 4. Project-management: While I appreciated Khalid being professional and checked in daily, 2 of the keys responsibilities of a project manager are: (1) develop project schedule with resources alignment and (2) quality control. Khalid didn’t do either one. When at project-start I asked for project schedule and the resources J&A was sending to my project, J&A told me that they didn’t provide such level of detail because timing was hard to predict, and that they wanted Khalid to be the central contact between me and J&A. 5. Business-model: While I’m not oppose to project-management business model, the way J&A ran it introduced both ethical and quality conflicts for me and my project. On the ethical side, they hired a low-cost contractor who couldn’t speak English well, and whenever there was an issue to be addressed, poor Jose was the one on the hook to find someone to fix it on Jose’s cost. This should be J&A’s job, not Jose’s - just like you if don't like work of a plumber, you bring in another plumber, instead of asking the last plumber to bring another plumber on his expense. They reassured me multiple times that when everything was done, I’d be happy and satisfied, because they’d get all the issues fixed to my satisfaction. While some did get fixed, they weren’t fixed to my satisfaction, and some simply didn’t or couldn’t get fixed. For one, there’s no point to keep bringing back someone who can only do trigonometry to do calculus because he just can’t do calculus; secondly, whenever Jose had to come back or bring someone in to fix things, it was on his dime, not J&A’s. Having been an immigrant who came with nothing, I couldn’t do that to him, knowing he had tried his best within his abilities. 6. Payment structure: they asked for 1/3 on contract-signing, 1/3 on start of the job, and 1/3 on completion. I thought it was outrageous to ask for 2/3 or 67% of project cost by the time they started the project. If such was common in construction field, homeowners would lose tons to money to crook-contractors who would go sign a bunch of contracts, disappear on Day 2 or Day 3 with 67% of the contracts they signed. I managed to negotiate to 1/3 on signing, 1/3 on demolition and rough-in complete, and final 1/3 on completion. I’d not characterize my experience with J&A as terrible, but the overall experience fell short of the expectations I had, and the quality didn’t match up to price tag I paid – I paid and asked for calculus-caliber, but they sent me someone with aptitude of trigonometry. I also didn’t appreciate that Khalid the PM asked me not to write a review and in exchange would give me $100 in return, it had me wonder how many homeowners took the such offer to not submit reviews hence resulting into mostly positive reviews for J&A on Angie’s, and I question their ethics. I’m just glad that I decided to break up the project into 2 phases, gave them the smaller one to see how they’d deliver. Needless to say, my phase 2 of two upper-level bathrooms went to another contractor referred to me by my neighbor who I will submit my review end of September when the project completes. I will not work with J&A again.
Description of Work: The owner paid for all materials such as tile, sinks, etc. I usually get 4 quotes, throw out the highest and lowest bids, and pick one of the middle two based on reputation, professionalism, pricing and timing. J&A was the higher priced but much better timing for my needs. Project Scope: 1. Laundry Room: a. Move washer 5-feet to the opposite wall where utility sink used to be b. Patch up walls, paint the entire laundry room, ceiling and walls in same color. Room just under 40-SF 2. ¾ Bathroom + Pantry (~ 65-SF) a. Remove the 12” deep wall-pantry on right of toilet b. Remove the toilet and relocate it diagonally across to center toward the shower c. Build 3’-wide wall to turn the space where toilet shallow wall pantry used to be, into a walk-in pantry accessed from the same pantry door d. Remove old shower stall and tile e. Remove old 86” wide single-bowl vanity and install pedestal sink f. Remove old laminate flooring and tile g. Wire and install new vanity light above pedestal sink h. Install bath accessories i. In-fill pocket-door end of bathroom that goes into living room j. Convert pocket-door on the kitchen/dinning into a swinging door k. Paint 2 new doors Project Engagement Model 1. J&A functioned as a project-manager under the general contractor name, and found another general contractor (Angel’s Construction), to do the work. Owner of Angel’s construction Jose spoke very limited English (hence I’d guesstimate that he wasn’t able to negotiate himself a good deal either – J&A is welcome to dispute that with supporting documents for money-exchange) 2. Jose, to maximize his profit, tried doing everything himself: demolition, framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, etc. It was a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none model, a concern I raised on Day 1.

We really appreciate your feedback, and we want to thank you for taking time to write a review. After all, how can we perfect our work if we don't know what to improve on? J&A has been in business since 2010. Thank you for acknowledging our professionalism and punctuality. In our line of work, it is common practice to hire subcontractors with specific/particular skills. It is unfortunate that you did not like Jose's work. We have subcontracted his construction company in the past with great customer satisfaction. A you know, renovations of homes are not always perfect as it is unlike building a home from pre-engineered floor plans where foundations can be built from the beginning to a homeowners liking. That said, we did our best to accommodate the changes you requested after the beginning of the project. We also gave you a $1000 courtesy credit to make up for any part of the project that was not to your satisfaction, after we finished the project ahead of schedule. Additionally, we would like to apologize for our Project Manager's overzealous action. It is because of your feedback that we have incorporated additional customer service trainings for all our staff. We strive to do our best to continuously improve and to meet customer satisfaction. We will set and review objectives to ensure continual improvement in our project management business module. Thank you again for your feedback, J&A Remodeling LLC

They were great. Super responsive, great communication if I asked a question or they had a question. They were timely which was an issue for us with other contractors in the past. My husband didn't want to do the project because we'd been burned before. But they renewed our faith in contractors. Nice guys too in addition to doing quality work at a fair price.
Description of Work: They have just completed a bathroom remodel on a house I'm putting on the market.
People say that first impressions last forever, and lucky for us, our experience with J&J was 1st class from start to finish. The sales person, Ahmed, is an extremely knowledgeable and talented person. He listened to our ideas with great deligenance and help us modify our plans so that we can better use of our kitchen. I am a mother of two young kids and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Ahmed's design for our kitchen created numerous storage places and who would not like to have more storage. Each drawer and cabinet space was created with my needs in mind. We were really blown away on how spacious how kitchen looked with all the added storage space. I really appreciate how Ahmed listened to all my requests and made my dreams become a reality. Jemal, the owner, is someone who is trustworthy, reliable, patient, and extremely resourceful person. Although, we had only planned to do our kitchen, when we realized the experience and talent he has, we ended up expanding our project, which we are so grateful we did. Jemal's assessment (both cost and time) was fairly accurate to the end result. Most contractors have a tendency underestimate the time and cost of projects in order to sell a project, which causes a lot of frustration for homeowners. However, Jemal was able to give us a great estimate and was able to finish up the project around the time he said he would. Adem is the head worker on the team that were assigned to work on our property. We have never met anyone who is so focused on doing a great job at any project he is assigned to. He takes great pride in his work and makes sure that his work is done at a very high standard. Adem and his team took care of our house and treated our property with great deal of respect. We are really happy and extremely satisfied with the work J&J has done on our house. We get compliments all the time from our friends and family and couldn't believe it when we tell that it was a small local contractor who did the job. We are extremely greatfull to have found J&J and we will be using them in the near future when we remodel the rest of our house. Thank you J&J for transforming not only our living space but also our lives.
Description of Work: My husband and I were looking for a contractor to remodel our kitchen in our 1988 house in Sammamish. After researching a number of local companies to do our remodel, we decided to hire J&J Kitchen and Bath. Although, we had only planned to do our kitchen initially, the talent and craftmenship of the J&J's staff made it easy for us to remodel our entire first floor including the powder room, floorings, doors, windows, stairs and even the fireplace in the family room.

Jemal and his crew are committed to customer satisfaction and are as good as it gets when it comes to home remodeling. We completely gutted and remodeled the second floor of our house, to include moving walls, adding closets, and even adding a bathroom. Jemal provided us with an accurate initial bid, and a realistic timeline for completion. Every dollar amount added to the original bid was authorized by my wife and/or myself, and most of these additions were cosmetic and were our own ideas, not based on shortfalls in J & A remodeling. Every member of his crew was professional and even friendly, and we quickly felt comfortable having them working in our house--we even gave Jemal a key to come and go when we weren't at home. If you value accuracy in the bid process, realistic timelines, and top-notch customer service, then go with J & A remodeling. This is my third time when I am using their services and I still find myself reaching out to Jemal if we have any home related issues. He is always responsive and never leaves us hanging. Honestly, you can't go wrong hiring J & A remodeling.

I will start with the positive: we received multiple bids on this project, and J&A was by far the cheapest. We later learned that you get what you pay for... The only other positive about our experience with J&A was the painter they used, Amir. He was professional, asked questions, was responsive, and was very detailed in his work, which we greatly appreciated. Aside from these two things, our experience with J&A, was, in short, terrible. Our biggest issue by far was the number of mistakes that were made throughout our remodel and the time it took to remedy their mistakes. On numerous occasions, major shortcuts or mistakes were made, costing everyone valuable time and money. Here are the major mistakes made and/or issues we had: 1. PERMITS. In short, if you are considering hiring J&A, ask about permits BEFORE you sign any contract, and don't assume that they are going to permit their work. Ask lots of questions and by all means, get their work permitted. 2. Cabinets painted wrong color , then painted with latex paint over oil paint. Paint peeled right off, and had to be re-done 3 TIMES. 3. Paint spills on floors, all over trim & doors which weren't to be painted. 4. Bathroom fan not vented to code - had to be re-done 3 times only after insisting that this be done correctly. 5. Electrical wires in attic left in a mess; again, had to be re-done. 6. Missed deadlines. Without going into details, multiple deadlines were missed with little to no communication. 7. Wrong holes drilled in pantry cabinet, setting us back even more time and requiring new door to be ordered. 8. Cabinet handles put on crooked. By the time these were installed, we had so little patience left that we didn't even bother to bring this up. 9. Electrical outlets not to code. 10. Electrical outlet on kitchen peninsula misplaced, causing them to cut into our cabinet door to remedy their mistake. 11. Pendant lights misplaced and had to be patched and moved. 12. Wrong canned lights purchased after multiple communication trails listing and linking to the exact lights we wanted. 13. Trash & cigarette butts thrown all over our yard & bushes. 14. Overall, terrible communication and project management. Our advice to anyone hiring J&A is to use them only for small projects. It was clear, after the fact, that they didn't have experience with a project of our size, and after our experience, I would not recommend them for a major kitchen remodel which involves structural or electrical work. In addition, make sure that they hire licensed, specialized sub-contractors rather than doing specialty work themselves. And ask LOTS of questions up front. While we are happy with our kitchen at this point, we never would have chosen J&A if we knew what kind of experience we were going to have. In fact, we are still remedying some of the mistakes they made 2 months after finishing the project. In the end, you get what you pay for, and in some cases, it's better to pay for a higher quality product in the end.

It was a great experience working with J&A. They listened to all the improvements I wanted to make in my bathroom and kitchen and captured everyone of them. The workmanship is excellent. Bathroom remodel took approx 10 days and kitchen remodel took just under four weeks - both totally reasonable time frames. Was super happy working with everyone involved. Would hire again without questions. My bathroom and kitchen look gorgeous!
Description of Work: Bathroom - replaced bathtub, tile and all fixtures. Kitchen - all new cabinets, additional cabinets to build pantry, new granite counter tops, all new hardware, new sink, new vent hood/ventilation system above stove, removed drop ceiling and replaced with new ceiling with can lights and dining room fixture and painting.

I think with any contractor you can focus on speed, quality, and cost and essentially pick 2 areas. J&A really excelled with quality and cost. The farmhouse style remodel was done on budget and it looked absolutely exceptional when done. Super strong attention to detail and they weren't satisfied until we were - no matter how minor a flaw. Not only did J&A perform beautiful work, they even made two essential suggestions that improved on our original plan and amounted to no incremental cost. Again, J&A was a great partner to work with on this challenging remodel. The only feedback that we shared for improvement was the work dragged on a couple weeks too long given contractor schedule coordinating. To address that, J&A ended up discounting some of the labor work. Thanks J&A for a job well done!
Description of Work: We used J&A for a full bathroom remodel this summer for our main floor bathroom
It went like clock work for the most part. They were very professional and respectful of our home. They finished on time and on budget (even though they had to start a few days later than anticipated because I didn't supply the correct plumbing fixture component). Really liked working with these guys and would hire them again. The pictures attached are the before and after.

He has done pretty good work. They should improve communication with their subcontractors. They should also oversee that the exact work is done. There was a sink to be fitted with the countertop and the hole had to be drilled such that the sink hole and the countertop were aligned. That never seemed to match because their measurements were not right.

Just as before, J&A gave us a reasonable estimate, scheduled the work, and then came in on schedule and did the work as promised. Extremely happy with the results. I have recommended their services to my friends and also plan to hire them again for my next remodeling they work with you to make sure you are satisfied and are always friendly. They have never made me feel like I am bothering them when I have questions. This was the second time they did work for us.

J&A did a great job all the way through. Starting with the initial consultation and design, Ahmed was very patient to listen to all the detailed list of things we needed to be done. They provided a competitive quote and were eager to beat another offer that was better than theirs. Their proposal was thorough and we really liked their attention to detail and so decided to award them the contract. They kept us informed on the expected start date and also the expected timeframe for the work to be completed. They started on time and they ended up finishing the work earlier than the original estimate provided. Jemal who was supervising all the work is a patient listener and is very good at following up on issues and getting them addressed. Be it small issues like missing a piece of work or something major like work that was not done to specification - he listened to what we wanted throughout the execution of the project and remedied all issues. Finally, J&A also stuck to their original bid and did not slap on unnecessary charges at the end of the contract which stands as a testament to their experience and professionalism. Will for sure hire J&A again for all small - big size projects that might come up and will strongly recommend them for projects of any size.

J&A did an excellent job with our bathroom remodel. Their team remodeled our only working bathroom, so it was very tricky for us. They conducted their business with the utmost professionalism. Whenever there were questions or issues, the team made sure to address them promptly. They paid attention to precise details and solved some problems of which we were not aware. I am grateful for their attention to detail and overall kindness. One of their subs even gave me some advice on painting. This is our first house, and we were nervous about remodeling, but J&A was a trustworthy and thorough business. Thank you!

We were very pleased not only with the outcome but the entire experience. They were in our home for>8 days. Every person who participated in this project -Adam, Richard, Ahmed, Edward, Jamal, I think I forgot someone, were very aware of their impact on our home. Not only was the workmanship wonderful, but they were very responsive to questions and concern. There were very few issues that came up, but as soon as they did, they were addressed immediately.
Description of Work: They demolished the drywall and tile around the tube and vanity,(at which time the discovered that an area of dry rot had to be repaired and a window replaced). Removed all flooring. Replaced all drywall, retiled, installed all new plumbing fixtures, replaced flooring, installed a new light switch and outlet, light fixtures and recessed medicine cabinet.
Overall, we had a very positive experience with J&A. Ahmed and Jamel are on top of everything and quick to respond to and remedy any questions or concerns. Jon did much of our plumbing and tile work and he is truly an accomplished craftsman. He does beautiful work and pays attention to integrity and detail, something which we appreciated when the mold issue arose, along with trying to reconnect old plumbing from the 60's to our new sink, shower, and toilet. We're very pleased with the finished bathroom and feel we received outstanding value for our money. The additional labor required for the mold remediation was very fair. I highly recommend J&A to others and would re-hire them in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: We did a complete remodel of our main bath, which included new vanity and sink, new toilet, and new tile on floor and shower surround (plus new concrete board under both). We supplied our own quartz vanity top, bathtub refinishing, mirror, and wall prep and painting. We knew in advance that we had some mold under our existing floor tile and old toilet, but it turned out to be more extensive than unexpected, which added in some additional labor to our cost (we fully expected this in advance - no surprises).

Ahmed and Jemal were very responsive, polite and knowledgeable all the way from the quote process throughout the end of the project. They and their team did a great job of incorporating our wishes and design sense with their professional recommendations. The workers were courteous, paid attention to detail and did fantastic work. As with any project, when little things went wrong or something was done that we were not 100% satisfied with, Ahmed and Jemal made sure the work was redone to our specifications, ensuring we were 100% satisfied in the end. I would absolutely recommend J&A to others. We are loving our new bathroom and our old one has a new lease on life thanks to their great work!
Description of Work: J&A helped us turn an old closet into a new bathroom as well as give our existing bathroom a facelift (tile and hardware) and new plumbing for better water pressure.

We were very pleased with the finished product! Jemal was very professional and made himself easily available to consult with Adem who did the installation work. Adem very kindly consulted with me about changes that might be a better idea -for that I was gratedful. His workmanship was wonderful and when he left at the end of each day, he left the area spotless. I would highly recommend these gentlemen.

I asked them to make the insert so that I could fit my shampoo bottle. They did not do that, but told me to just buy a different size bottle. Also when talking to me they had a negative demeanor and space issues as if to try and intimidate me. They have to come back to fix the drain so that it would hold water.

, The workers showed up on time. Came every day for two weeks and did a wonderful job. They let me be the boss more or less because I picked out tile, toilet and tub. Also the color of the walls. I had never gone through a remodel before so I was a little nervous. The team worked with me thoughout the whole project. If there was a problem, we worked it out together. I have my dream master bath now and there is a one year guarrantee. Jemal is a kind and softspoken man and easy to talk to. I thank him for his time and he has a good crew. Sincerly, Melanie Andrus
Description of Work: They gutted my 30 yr old bathroom for an upgrade and serious water damage.
