We interviewed several contractors before selecting Bh Contracting. Although Brad was not the least expensive, we felt more comfortable that we could work well together, that he had the experience we were looking for, and that he would be able to provide a beautiful product and still remain within a budget. Another factor was Brad's ability to bring in a designer to help with the layout, design and finishes. That worked well and we used Colleen all the way through the project. The process to develop the estimate and contract was thorough, and Brad was very patient as we worked through it. Construction began in early August and demo took a bit longer than we hoped, however, once completed, things started moving more quickly. They were very organized and coordinated the work between their own crew and the subs very well. With a project this size, there will always be issues and Brad and his foreman, Brian, handled them well. We created some of the challenges by making some changes after we began, and finding a load baring wall we didn't expect caused some delays, but the guys took them in stride and adjusted. We did run into some issues with the painting. The sub got a bit of a late start and then ran into some problems with the paint that caused him to do some of the work a second time. Plus there were areas where the texture didn't take the paint well, so he had to apply additional coats. Those delays made it hard for the other subs to get in and finish there work, but they all worked around each other and somehow got it all done. Our new home turned out beautiful and is a direct result of Brad and his team's dedication, superior craftmanship and commitment to quality. The entire crew was great to work with and made the experience very rewarding. While we likely won't have to do this again, we will certainly use Bh Contracting if we do.
Description of Work: We worked with Bh Contracting on a complete remodel of a 32 year old condo in Kirkland, WA. We bought the unit in with the expectation that we would have to 'gut' the place to bring it back to life. We began interviewing contractors in June and began construction in early August. The project was completed in late October, with minor punch list items continuing into early November. The project included: - A complete kitchen remodel that required moving one wall and removing two others to make it larger and provide a more open feeling. - A complete master bath remodel that included reconfiguring the fixtures, removing a huge spa tub, adding an oversized shower, and moving walls to allow adding a walk-in closet. - A total update of the master bedroom, guest bedroom and guest bath. - An update of the living room and dining room, including a new gas fireplace and mantle. - A remodel of the laundry room that included moving the hot water tank and adding a utiliy sink. - A revision of the entry area that included modifying the closets and adding a lighted niche. - All cabinets, appliances, fixtures, lighting, heating, doors, trim and flooring were replaced throughout the home. Much of the plumbing and electrical was also updated or replaced.

We broke down the hardwood floor installation in two stages: downstairs and upstairs. We have a home office and moved everything out of our office and lower bedroom to do this stage. Everything went well and things looked great. We went of town while we the upstairs was done. The floors were completed the same day (to the hour) we got home. We stayed in a hotel that night and move back in the next day. Everything look great and floors looked even better than expected and was done in an amazing amount of time. We were glad to get rid of our carpeting and have easy to clean surfaces that will look great for many years to come. A few things on the phase: Having hardwood stairs made a huge difference - easy to clean and isn't a slippery as I thought they may be. Even though BH taped everything off so dust would be minimal, plan on doing a major clean-up afterwards - no way to keep it all out. After the flooring was complete, we had several rooms painted and other areas touched up. The painters BH uses are great, but we did have some issues with color matching and getting a bit confused on what colors we used and where. At some point, we'll have the "touch-up" areas painted over to match. If you want to work with a great company, Brad is your guy at BH. They are reasonably priced, do excellent work and will work with you to find the best solution for your needs.
Description of Work: BH replaced the carpets with hardwood floors in five rooms, hallways and stairs. This included removing all the trim and painting in a few of the rooms where wall were a little dinged up by furniture. This was the second phase of construction started the previous year.
One thing to note, BH crews work Monday-Thursday which was a bonus for us because my husband works from home on Friday and couldn't have worked with construction noise. However, that schedule might contribute to the length of a project. We had another bathroom we could conveniently use, so time taken wasn't an issue with us. Problems that came up were dealt with quickly, professionally, and with integrity. We had an inexplicable problem getting the shower door installed correctly by the door company, but Brad and co. made sure it was done (though it took three doors!) Our light fixtures came broken (twice) (which were NOT a BH problem) but when the replacements came, Brian installed them for us and the negotiations were between the lighting company (North Shore in Bellevue--a great place) and Colleen. We had lights, so didn't mind waiting for the new ones to come in. Some tiling had to be redone--again, no fuss, they just got it done correctly. We love our bathroom!!
Description of Work: We found BH Contracting Services through Angie's List! We also used Colleen Wiley of Interior Moods as a designer, recommended by Brad of BH Contracting Services. We had a lot of things we wanted to do to upgrade our 1986 house, and Brad was the only contractor who actually bid on the job. He spent a LOT of time with us to determine our needs and wants and then bid the whole huge project with allowances for certain levels of choices of materials. When we saw the total, we immediately scaled down our expectations to a more reasonable level. All along in the process which included several trips to our house with and without Colleen (the designer), Brad continued to be courteous and helpful even though we wasted his time by asking for way more than we could afford. How did we know? We were major-remodel virgins. Since Brad's bid was with allowances of X dollars for granite, plumbing, tile, etc. and we wanted to know exactly how much this project would cost, we did a lot of legwork visiting exciting places like Pental's for granite and Better Bath and Kitchen for sinks, toilets, door pulls, etc. to find out what we wanted. Even before signing the contract, we paid for the granite slab that we wanted because Pental's wouldn't hold it any longer. Once we got a firm idea on what we were selecting and what price each item was, Brad was able to give us a firm bid on the job and we signed up in November of 2010 with work to begin the first of February, 2011. Our crew, headed by the creative, dependable, detail-oriented Brian arrived at 7:00 for the demolition, and our project began. Every subcontractor that Brad uses is a craftsman and a professional. They all have a really high regard for Brad and all do quality work. Like every remodel, ours had its share of glitches and unexpected crises, but we had total faith in BH Contracting that they would be resolved satisfactorily and they were. Throughout this process the Designer, Colleen Wiley of Interior Moods was so helpful and knowledgeable! She works with Brad and Brian and was able to head off and resolve many issues that came up. the process too way longer to finish than we thought, but that wasn't due to any issues on Brad's part--we had lighting fixtures that came broken and had to wait for door knobs-that type of thing. We had BH do a closet door remodel as well as the bath remodel. Part of the bath remodel involved enlarging the shower space, and to do that a foot of an adjacent closet was "borrowed". In the process, water leakage was discovered from the roof. The crew had to wait to finish the shower until the roof installers came to repair the roof.

Brad is very personable and was always 10 min early. The bid was the highest of the 4 we had done. When I questioned the electrical amount in the bid, he was willing to bring out an electrician and get a more detailed bid. In addition, Brad was very flexible with options (all custom cabinets vs pre-fab). In the end, the bid was still the highest of the 4, but we felt the most comfortable with Brad. They did the work in a timely manner and we are pleased with the quality. I would defiantly use them again given the great experience we had and we feel we made the right choice.
Description of Work: We had the existing fireplace mantel removed and installed a new custom mantel as well as bookshelves on both sides of the fireplace.

Working with BH was great from start to finish. I was home during the entire process and every sub-contractor was fantastic to work with. Brad has a great deal of integrity and that is reflected in the sub-contractors he works with. Brian and Tyler were the on-site team and they were excellent and work well together as a team. Brian really sweated the details and took the quality of work very personally. Tyler was a joy have around and is an extremely competent carpenter. James from AllWire was a really good resource and we felt comfortable adding new work items which he handled with aplomb. Scott did the tiling amazingly well and fast. Colleen was exceptional in helping us to decide on the granite and tile options - the granite choice was fantastic and blows everyone away that sees it. Yuriy is a master craftsman and artisan when it comes to granite - I'm still amazed at the things he did. The painters were like ghosts - I'd come downstairs and the work would be done already and they'd be gone. The plumbing team was very conscientious and pointed out a subtle potential issue that everyone one else had missed even though this required them to come back another day. But the real test of a contractor is not when everything goes right but when things go wrong, which with a complex project always occurs. In every case Brad made things right. For example, an error was made in estimating the amount of granite due to fact that we have a garden window off of a bay window making a very deep counter top so the sizing calculator didn't handle it correctly. Brad and Yuriy worked very hard to locate a matching slab and only charged for the required additional granite and not the entire slab. In another case we had a GFI that was mysteriously triggering. Eventually the owner of AllWire, Jeremiah, came out with Lou who seems to be some sort of electricity whisperer and they found the source of the problem which was an old solenoid activated booster fan that only turned on when the dryer was turned on making it a very hard problem to detect. Getting a kitchen remodeled is a very stressful experience but I can't imagine it being any better then working with BH and all their great sub-contractors.
Description of Work: Hired BH for a full kitchen remodel. The floor plan wasn't changed. Carpentry Existing soffits removed to allow for higher cabinets. New kitchen cabinets from Canyon Creek installed. New pantry system with sliding drawers installed. New kitchen island cabinet installed New matching living room bookshelves installed. Bookshelf custom modified to allow access to external wood box. Glass work Old garden window removed and new one installed. Existing broken window in front living room replaced. Electrical Overhead lighting improved by adding more recessed fixtures. Kitchen table light replaced. Wiring behind soffits was on a board and had to be redone correctly in conduits. Under-counter lighting installed. GFIs moved to new location. New 240v run from breaker box to oven to bring it to code. Speaker wires in living room run under the house. Wiring from wall mounted TV run through wall. Phone wiring in living room repaired. New phone outlet in kitchen. Counter tops All counter tops replaced with granite. Four inch backsplash installed. In-counter switch for garbage disposal. Plumbing New under counter sink installed. New Kohler Karbon faucet installed. (Outstanding faucet.) Existing water filter connected to new faucet. Tile work Area between granite backspash and cabinets filled with tile. Existing broken floor tiles replaced. New floor tiles from existing reserved tiles installed in areas where new cabinets required it. Dry wall All areas where new wiring impacted dry wall were repaired. Painting All kitchen and living room walls and ceilings painted. Appliances New oven installed. New cooktop installed in island. New stove vent installed in island. Existing Subzero removed and reinstalled. Existing dishwasher removed and reinstalled.
From the time that we first met with Brad for the initial planning, to the final walk-through at the end of the project, we were completely satisfied that we made the right choice in BH Contracting. Before signing the contract we met on site with Brad, his staff and sub-contractors so everyone was on the same page concerning the work to be done and choices that had been made. The work was done while we were way for the winter, so Brad, job supervisor Brian, and Joy from the office were invaluable in keeping us informed on progress of the job. There were a few minor glitches that were easily corrected with little or no additional cost. Brad was always able to give a good estimate of any pricing changes and very willing to work with us to keep expenses down.
Description of Work: We did a complete gutting and redo of our 2bedroom+den, 2 bath condo. The job involved complete remodel of the kitchen with new cabinets, lighting and bamboo flooring. The master bath was completely redesigned including heated tile floor, new soaking tub, reworking of plumbing lines, dual vanities, glass shower enclosure and new lighting. Remodel of the 2nd bath included new bathtub with glass shower doors, freestanding vanity, tile floor and new lighting. New bamboo flooring and new carpet was installed along with new baseboards, and condo was completely repainted including ceiling..

Great. Brad really knows how to hire quality workmen, estimate costs, and get the job done. I had previous experience with this type of problem and never thought I would be doing it again. I used BH Contracting for the previous job. When I found part of the house rotting out I called them again. Brad did the estimate within 48 hours of my call and started work the next week. The job took about 9 days to complete. As a general contractor, BH Contracting was able to handel everything. The workmanship is tops, the estimate was right on the mark, the work was done in a timely manner, and everything was cleaned up at the end. I couldn't ask for more (except not to have had to do it in the first place. I can't recommend Brad highly enough.
Description of Work: This was a repair caused by an improperly-installed deck. The deck was installed against siding without any flashing. The result was widespread rot in structural members of the house, siding, and decking. BH removed the rotted parts, replaced structural members of the house, siding, and decking, and repainted.
We have used BH Contracting with much success before so we called them again when we realized my mother's bath needed a remodel to address the safety/mobility issues that come with age. Her bathroom is located on the ground floor near the front door so we wanted something attractive as well as handicapped accessible. BH delivered beautifully on both fronts. At the intitial walk-through owner Brad Wilson measured and discovered extra space for expansion behind the walls. He put us in touch with designer Colleen Wiley who worked with mom's physical therapist to devise the ideal layout. Then Brad gave us a "Scope of Work" that itemized all work to be done along with prices. We paid the total amount in the form of a deposit and then several "progress bills". In our experience, BH has always come in at their quoted price. Yet Brad has also accommodated us if we want changes. The remodel went quite smoothly and took about 6 weeks. Everyone who worked there was considerate of us and kept the area, as well as the rest of the house, very clean.
Description of Work: BH Contracting remodeled my mother's bathroom. They demolished the old bath and disposed of debris. They moved a wall to expand the room, installed a pocket door, glass block exterior window, large shower pan with tile surround, teak wood bench, pony wall and glass shower door. They added a heated tile floor, overhead fan, all new plumbing fixtures and vanity with granite top. The walls were painted. BH also installed lots of grab bars that are solidly braced to hold lots of weight...or just towels.

We had an improperly installed window that had slow leaked rainwater for years into bedroom below. I had tried many times to fix this problem myself without success. Brad of BH contracting visited the house, diagnosed the problem and he correctly laid out multiple steps to best accomplish to job. The project was also complicated by timing the work with another contractor who was re-roofing a part of the house under the problem window - Brad made sure we were able to tie the new roofing in behind the siding below the window to provide added protection. I was very pleased with this coordination. I was also pleased with the highly qualified tradesmen that work for BH contracting - real professionals that showed up on time, were always friendly and helpful and courteous, cleaned up the work area every day, communicated very well throughout the project, and accomplished what to me is exceptional work for a very reasonable price. And most important - no more leak! I have taken bids for a much larger interior remodeling project (new travertine flooring and full kitchen remodel). BH contracting has passed the test with flying colors and now planning to use them for this larger project - which I will report at a later date.
Description of Work: Fixed an upper story exterior window that leaked rain water down through the exterior siding into bedroom below: the company did the following: removed exterior siding, wrapped window with sealing tape, reinstalled window with a custom frame to prevent rainwater to leak behind window, replaced siding/caulked surrounding area, repainted siding to match original siding color, repaired damaged ceiling/wall in bedroom below, sanded and painted to match original color.
This was a learning experinece. Communication and follow-up could have made this a better experience. The contractor should have inspected the work of his sub-contrators to ensure the quality of work was as expected. As with any project, things can go wrong. Overall it looks nice, but the end product could have been better.
Description of Work: Bathroom update - replaced shower, lighting, fixtures, skylight, fans and painted.

Response from BH Contracting Services Inc
The homeowner reported to us that their newly installed shower drain looked dull. They stated they suspected that our plumbing subcontractor did not install the new drain that was provided by the homeowner, but some other drain. To rectify the situation, we purchased the same drain the homeowner had & came out with it to inspect the installed drain. With a flash light inside the drain, you could see that the inner markings & fittings on both drains were identical. It was confirmed that the homeowner provided drain was indeed installed. Between the owner & lead carpenter, we came out three times on this matter. We did not charge for these trips, even though this was within our right. We were even willing to remove the shower pan & tile to investigate our subcontractor’s work, but it was not necessary, as you could see that the shower drains were identical. We showed this to the homeowner. We did inspect our subcontractor’s work. We took the homeowner’s claim seriously & it was found to be incorrect.

We decide a while ago that we wanted to start to remove much of the carpet from our home and started down a path to remodel parts of our home we didn't like or had materials that didn't work well (like carpet in a bathroom). We received a few bids and decided on BH from previous reports on AL. Once we started working with them, we put a plan of attack together and overall timing. We started selecting flooring materials from their recommended suppliers and waited just a short time for the flooring to arrive. Once the construction began in earnest, it was demolition time. They arrived promptly (and early) to start pulling out the old stuff in the kitchen and Living room - phase 1 in the remodel. The living room took the longest (in the first phase) due to the nature of putting down tile and the size of our LR. Through the entire process, we got calls about who would be out and what would be done next. We work from home, so it we were able to follow the work and what was happening each day. So far so good. Phase 2 included the upstairs MB. It took some time and we ran into a few unforeseen issues that they took care of - like some dry rot from our shower previously leaking. I was glad they were able to fix that and a few other little things along the way.Scott, BH's tile pro is highly recommended. He did a great job and since he was here so much, got to know us and some of our cooking we sent him home with :). It's one of our favorite parts of the remodel - the heated tile and limestone floors. I highly recommend it! A few things regarding this entire process: BH did a great job and worked with us to make sure everything was right and met our expectations. A few times, we were able to make some on the fly decisions that made things even better. I've learned that it's always good to ask questions about the process so you know what to expect. All their subs were professionals and helped in the process. We only had a few issues along they way, which were resolved without a hitch. I highly recommend Brad and his crew!
Description of Work: BH replaced: Kitchen: Granite counter tops, backslash, sink and sink/faucet and receptacles Living room: New underfloor heating and tile (replacing carpet) Master Bath: New underfloor heating and limestone tile, shower and tile surrounds, lime-stone counter-tops, sinks/faucets and new fan. Mud-room: replaced linoleum/carpeted entry with new tile Also added a fan in our lower mudroom entrance from the garage that wasn't ventilating properly.

This was our second major project with Brad at BH Contracting -- we highly recommend this outfit. They are professional, straight-talking and a pleasure to deal with from bid process to final clean up. Our kitchen remodel went remarkably smoothly. Six weeks from demo to completion for a major remodel ? two weeks faster than the next closest bidder projected. There were a few hiccups along the way but instead of stressing over them we felt comfortable Brad and his crew would find reasonable solutions ? and they did. There were no major problems or surprises. BH Contracting went above and beyond on several occasions. Example: we miscalculated the depth of the stove and realized it would stick out into the kitchen several inches after installation. Rich, Brad?s main man on the job, figured out he could remove part of a wall and set the stove back three inches. This made all the difference. The stove sits flush with the cabinet faces on either side. Also, despite a late delivery on the windows & French doors (outside of BH Contracting?s control) plus a major snowstorm in the middle of the job they completed the remodel on time. Regarding costs, the job was on budget. We got three bids on the project. BH Contracting was the middle bid ? not the cheapest and not the most expensive ? but clearly the most qualified contractor. Our new kitchen is beautiful and truly a pleasure to use. We enjoy it every day and look forward to enjoying it for years to come.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel. Brad helped us brainstorm design ideas and gave us great suggestions on how to make our new kitchen both efficient and attractive. Demolition included removing all old appliances, cabinets, floor, and windows – plus removing half a wall to open up our kitchen to the dining room. BH Contracting installed new cabinets (Canyon Creek), new floor, new countertops, new wood windows and French doors, and new paint throughout. They assisted with the installation of the new appliances even though this was primarily the responsibility of the appliance supplier. Brad expertly managed the sub contractors (electrical, gas, plumbing, countertops, cabinets, flooring and painters) in terms of staying on budget and being on time – quite the logistical challenge.
We sent architect?s plans to several contractors. BH Contracting submitted the low bid and seemed most interested in getting the job. They had done a bathroom remodel for us the year before, and we had been very happy with their work on that project. The remodel was expected to take 6 months. We moved out and signed a 6 month lease on an apartment. BH contracting agreed to pay our apartment rent if the job went over 6 months, provided we gave them a $2,000 per month bonus payment for every month early the work was finished (maximum 2). Construction began on schedule the 2nd week in June, and we moved back in the first week in October. The work was finished to our satisfaction in 4 months, so we were happy to pay the full bonus. The first phase of the project was the demolition and foundation work. The foundation work turned out to be more difficult than the structural engineer originally anticipated, so the scope of the foundation work had to be expanded, making it all the more remarkable that the entire project was finished ahead of schedule. The construction of the new 2nd story and the remodel of the interior of the ground floor and basement proceeded as expected over the summer. Because the walls of the basement had to be reinforced, all the floors and all drywall in the basement had to be completely redone. Brad was constantly focused on keeping was able to keep the subcontractors and his own crew focused on completing work on schedule. Every time we came over to the house during the day, there were always 2 and sometimes as many as half a dozen men working (BH Contracting?s main crew was 2, the others were subcontractors). The architect came out a couple of times to discuss the plans and work out some details, and gave us very positive reports of the quality of the work being done. Brad worked with us at each step of the way to avoid unnecessary cost overruns, and to keep the scope of change orders to the minimum necessary. He was very careful about inspecting the work of his subcontractors and did not hesitate to require them to come back to redo work that he felt was not done correctly, even if we could not detect any problems. Furthermore, when on a small number of occasions, adjustments needed to be made to the architect?s plans, Brad was creative in coming up with solutions which minimized cost, while still maintaining quality and appearance. Brad and his office manager Joy kept in touch with us throughout the process and were always quick to respond to any requests or questions we had for them. When we came out to the house during the construction, the BH Contracting crew was always very helpful and always followed through on any queries or requests we made of them. The entire project was completed ahead of schedule and to our satisfaction without any conflicts or arguments between us and BH Contracting. Some of our neighbors were annoyed by the noise and traffic congestion from the construction, but the only way to have avoided that would have been not to do the remodel. The complaints from the neighbors related to some of the subcontractors, not BH Contracting employees, and BH Contracting responded quickly whenever the neighbors complained to try to get the subcontractors to stop annoying them. Now that we are living in the house again, we are delighted with the work. We financed this project by taking the equity out of our house, so we weren?t able to do all the work we would have liked this time around. We are planning to do one more major remodel on our house within the next five years or so, and would be happy to use BH Contracting again for that job, too.
Description of Work: BH Contracting, owned by Brad Wilson, added a 2nd story to our house and renovated parts of the first floor. This required major foundation work and the addition of shear walls to stabilize the house; removing the roof and some interior walls, adding a stairway and a master bedroom suite (bedroom, full bath, two studies and a walk-in closet), adding a gas line, overhauling the HVAC system, adding an upstairs fireplace, and remodeling a bath in the old part of the house.
The owner, Brad Wilson, called in designer Colleen Wiley. Her plan gave me lots of storage space, a walk in closet and lovely, large, comfortable living areas. I don't know how they found the space. Colleen was invaluable to me with decorating choices. Overall I am extremely happy with the quality of work that BH has done. The people who worked on the project were diligent, knowlegeable and nice to have around...also, easy to contact. If I changed my mind there was never any argument. Only one hitch in the process: a pipe broke during demolition resulting in minor flood. Without my having to ask, BH replaced the 23 year old carpet with a new one of my choice for free. I have used this company before and have found them to be reliable. They do excellent work. But this particular project turned out better than I could ever have imagined.
Description of Work: B.H. remodeled my master bath, bedroom and hallway guest bath. The old layout featured a tiny master bath and oblong bedroom with minimal closet space. The guest bath was outdated. Design issues included the necessity of moving and resizing windows on the front of the house for the master bathroom expansion, while maintaining the home's exterior curb appeal. As part of the job some small interior walls were demolished. New (interior) walls were built and plumbing was moved. There was lots of tilework, a new paintjob for the entire upstairs with exterior touchup on the new siding around the new windows. There is also carpet, base and cove molding, pocket doors, plumbing fixtures, all sorts of lighting, and mirrors with wood frames beautifully custom made by a Colby, a B.H. carpenter.

Description of Work: Damaged/rotted siding and plywood and door headers and window and door trim and door removed and replaced with more durable materials (cedar and hardiplank siding). New window and door framing and interior painting of such.
The job was very professionally done. BH's job people were very skilled, friendly and accommodating. Brad was very organized and promptly addressed any concerns we had. "Job surprises" , (redoing a 1959 house) were promptly and skillfully dealt with. Colleen, the designer we worked with did a really good job and spent as much time as we needed to help us make choices. She is very easy and fun to work with and we relied upon her talents with color and design a great deal.

Also provided redoing all wiring for electrical outlets, new electrical panel. Also redid sewer lines to street and downspout drainage system. Insulation, decking and ventilation was added to attic area. New carpet was installed throughout the house, hardwood floors were laid in kitchen/dining room, tile in master bath. Though there were a couple of bumps and hurdles, BH handled it perfectly and the experience was excellent. We had them come out a couple of times to look at the bathroom and give us a quote, and visited their dealer for plumbing fixtures to check out the tub. They gave us a reasonable quote, and we signed a contract. We had to wait a few weeks for the tub, so things were quiet for a bit. We couldn't find the matching tile for our bathroom anywhere, and Brad checked everywhere, so we had to find a new tile, and Brad found us a great near perfect match. Because it was not a perfect match, we had him order enough extra tile to cover the shower and counter so that we can redo those to match in the future, which we will definitely call BH again to do when we're ready. Shortly before the work was to commence, we got an email from Brad with bad news: the tub had been irreparably damaged during shipping. Brad worked with the distributor and got Jacuzzi to rush us a replacement and was able to start the work only a few days late. The workers were very courteous and kept our house very clean during the remodeling process. The replacement tub also had some cracks but they were minor and cosmetic, and BH made sure that they got resurfaced at no extra charge, so we can't tell that there was a problem (he also gave us the option to wait for a replacement again). The tile guy worked through the weekend to try to keep on schedule, and the whole thing only took about a week longer than it was supposed to, even with the hiccups. The painters made a little bit of a mess in our laundry room, but nothing that was too hard to clean up so we just took care of it rather than asking Brad to send someone out. The general contractors, tiler, plumbers, and electricians were all very courteous and responsible. The most important thing to note is that Brad and his contractors are very experienced and incredibly knowledgeable in this stuff, and know how to add the extra touch that makes it really superb. You can probably find somebody who will do the work cheaper, but with BH you will get it done right. Brad took the time and had the expertise to talk to us about every little detail we wanted, explain some of the things the builder did wrong in our bathroom, and really make us feel comfortable having his team in there. The step and shelf they designed aren't just functional, they look great too, as does the mantle they built. Most contractors would just install a little door to access the pump and heater for the tub, making it a slide out shelf instead is so functional and beautiful, and something I never would have thought of. And when I mentioned adding a curve to the step so that it wouldn't be as easy to trip on, I never imagined the wonderful looking step that they designed and built. It has given the bathroom so much more architecture and interest compared to the original. They really strive to not only do the job, but really do it well, and they succeeded.
Description of Work: We had a new construction with a large bathroom, but the bathroom was missing many upgrades. We brought in BH to replace a garden tub with a large Jacuzzi, install radiant floor heating, add a step to the tub deck, and frame for a TV mount. In addition, we had them install a utility sink in our garage. For the tub, they removed the old tub, rebuilt the frame to fit the new tub, built a beautiful step into the new frame, removed all of the old tile, retiled, rerouted a nearby electrical circuit for the tub, installed an additional circuit, moved the plumbing to fit the new tub, installed a tub filler in the desk, and installed a Moen digital tub filler control system. In order to access the pump and heater for maintenance, they build a slide-out shelf into the side of the tub deck where we can store soaps and other supplies. They added medallions to the tub surround tile work, and tiled the tub step too. For the radiant floor heating, they ripped up all of the tile on the floor, wire a new electrical circuit for the heat, replaced the flooring for the new floor, laid heating cable, retiled, and installed a programmable thermostat. For the TV mount, they added braces inside the wall to mount the TV to, strung a smurf tube for wiring, and built a small mantle to provide heat separation from the fireplace below the TV. Last minute we had them redo the tile around the fireplace as well to match the new tile on the tub deck. For the utility sink, they installed a sink on the opposite side of the wall from our bathroom. They patched all of the holes they made, textured the patches to match our walls, and painted to match.

This is the fourth project we've hired BH to do for us and it went very well just as the others had. Brad came out to look at the existing floor and gave us the estimate to install a new floor. We changed our mind on the floor material after the original proposal and he worked with us to select Marmoleum. This changed the scope of the project and they accommodated us no problem. Once the project was underway the workers were prompt and thorough, again, as usual. When the project was complete we had our brand new floor, which looks great, and no muss in the house or yard. All hauled away and cleaned. Brad contacted us after the work was complete to be sure we were happy. I asked him to do one last thing and he sent someone the next day to finish. Overall a great project.
Description of Work: Installation of a new Marmoleum floor in our kitchen and shoring up the sub floor including removal and disposal of the old floor. Installation of water line to refrigerator.

I have been renovating our house for several years and was ready to begin remodeling the kitchen. We needed to have multiple projects coordinated and completed simultaneously. After doing some research I found BH Contracting Services on Angie's List. We contracted with Brad to make structural improvements, add electrical wiring, lighting, and install all new kitchen cabinets. Brad communicated well, and made efficient use of time by coordinating & keeping thing on track. Everyone involved on the project was a professional, and the quality of the workmanship was top notch. They were mindful of the details, and they cleaned up after themselves. It was a pleasure doing business with BH Contracting Services and I will surely recommend them to my friends and family.
Description of Work: Structural improvements, added electrical wiring, circuit breaker, installed new kitchen cabinets, recessed ceiling lighting, and under-the-counter task lighting.

They were okay. They treated me fine. They seemed to know what they were doing when they gave me the quote. They were in line with most of the other bids. They seemed professional and they knew what they were doing.
Description of Work: We got a quote from them for a bathroom remodel.

BH Contracting was very responsive. They looked at the damage a day after we called them. An estimate was in our hands a couple of days later. After we received approval from our insurance company to go ahead with repairs, BH Contracting completed the repairs quickly (two days total) and did high quality work. There is no sign of damage to the roof and BH Contracting did an excellent job of blending the old roof and roofing material with the new roof.
Description of Work: A tree fell on our bedroom roof, damaging the joists, gutter and roofing. Since we had used BH Contracting for a remodel- we called on them for this repair
Brad Wilson was wonderful to work with. He was clear, accurate and , most importantly, on time. We have gone through remodeling h*** with other contractors. Long delays, ballpark estimates that were not in the ballpark. We've all been there. BH Contracting was refreshingly different. The thing we appreciated most was that we saw progress made every day-and that was important to us - since we were living in the house during the remodel. Brad also was very helpful in giving us information so we could make decisions. If we wanted an upgrade, he told us how much it was going to cost. There were no surprises. The contractors he used (except for one- which I'll discuss) were first rate. The only part of the job we weren't completely happy with was the hardwood floors. We didn't feel the installation of hardwoods was the same high quality as was provided by other contractors in this project. We talked to Brad about our concerns, had the contractor come back to try to correct problems with the floors. In the end, Brad deducted $1000 from our bill because he knew we weren't completely satisified. It's been 10 months since the remodel was completed. We love the remodel and how it has improved the livability of our house. We would not do anything differently. We highly recommend Brad and BH Contracting to anyone who is doing a remodel project.
Description of Work: We did an extensive remodel of our house, including moving our kitchen from one room to another and demolishing a laundry room to create a "great" room - living, dining and kitchen.

Once we decided on going with this company and settled on the kitchen design (which was the most difficult part of the entire process), it went very well. BH Contracting was not one of the least expensive bids, but we feel the price we paid was well worth their services. Brad started the job when he said he would begin and finished it a few days early - with the exception of a couple of small items that were no fault of his, but rather the sub contractor who was doing the lighting. Brad's crew that came to work in our home were courteous, respectful, punctual and a group of good guys to have around. The guys cleaned up at the end of the work day and tried to make sure the subcontractors did the same. There were a couple of minor issues that came up during the remodel- but nothing that wasn't resolved. When one wall was removed they discovered an error in our home's structure. After discussing with us the cost and reason for need to correct the problem, that was also taken care of. We are very happy with the final outcome of the kitchen. The new cabinets with all of the pull out drawers are wonderful (we don't have to get down and try to stick our heads inside to look in the back of the cabinets for things anymore) and the island was one of the best things we did even though it was one of the most difficult decisions to make due to cost. We truly believe that Brad will stand behind his work if any problems arise. We would recommend BH Contracting Services without any hesitation and in fact will contact them again for any future needs. A great company to work with. Thanks guys.
Description of Work: The kitchen was totally remodeled. We began by working with a designer Brad recommended in order to come up with a new layout for the kitchen. This service was well worth the extra money we paid to the designer. New cabinets, an island and granite countertops were installed, as well as new flooring in the kitchen and family room. Lighting was also added or enhanced. There were also 2 walls that were removed or cut back to give a more open appearance between the kitchen, family room and dining room. That meant drywall and painting services were also required to complete the job.
We're very happy with everything. Brad, the owner of BH, took time to help us with difficult design decisions. He made our jaunts to the suppliers seem like fun. Then BH demolished her kitchen while we were gone on a 1 week cruise. Damaged floor boards were replaced and the floor stained to match the rest of the house. Any gaps and holes in the wall were flawlessly patched. After we returned from vacation the new cabinets were installed. Brad went to extra trouble to make sure we got the best price for the Chroma Quartz counter top we wanted. Now my mother's new kitchen looks gorgeous, having been expertly constructed by carpenters Brian, Tyler and Colby. Everything Brian puts his hand to comes out looking perfect. And he's so nice too. The painters, Clint and Cabe did a beautiful job. They even helped us choose the colors. All the paint is where it should be...no overspray, drips, or sanding dust. They filled all nail holes and cracks. Cabe even went beyond the call of duty, vacuuming water of out mom's basement after a flood when I couldn't be there. Everyone has been so courteous and helpfull throughout. We would hire them back in a minute.
Description of Work: We hired BH to remodel my mother's kitchen after years of water damage had taken its toll on her old cabinets. The wood kitchen floors were refinished and the interior of the whole house was painted.
