Steve originally came out and gave me a very reasonable bid to drain water away from my house. Unfortunately, there are some real problems in the construction of the house that I have to fix at the same time, and I have to wait for those. I appreciate him coming and covering things so moisture won't keep getting into the basement through the brick.
Description of Work: Steve came out with his grandkids and put up temporary plastic on the side of my house (30') so that water would not saturate the old exposed brick. This is a temporary fix, and he came out right away, on the weekend.

I had a standing water problem in my crawl space. They came out and looked at it, recommended a french drain. The team returned the following week and did the work in one day. Put down plastic to protect my floors, but they used crawl space vents to take out dirt and bring in gravel and pipes. They did a great job, and my crawl space is now nice and dry.
Description of Work: Installed french drain in crawl space and lowered the existing drain to the back yard, which was too high so not draining properly.

I contacted this company via the Angie's list link to their website. They returned my email promptly and we were able to schedule an estimate at a convenient time. The estimator arrived promprtly and gave a thorough explanation of what he thought was going on and what would be the best approach to correct the situation. They provided a very quick written bid via email. I liked this company.
Description of Work: I did not actually use this company for my french drain replacement project, but it was only because they were filled up and unable to do my project until much later than I wanted it done. They were very professional and clearly knew what they were doing; their price quote was in the ball park of the other quotes I got. I would have chosen them if the schedule had worked better.

The estimate was for $3500. They haven't done the work yet, but they sent me the contract yesterday. They will be re-grading underneath my crawlspace having a French drain and replacing my entire rain drain system and installing a basement at my driveway. The people that came out were great, but scheduling with them was difficult. That's the only negative I have encountered. They will be coming out this Saturday to do the work.

They were very personable. They were on time. They first came out and gave me an estimate. Then, there was some other problem that came after that and they fixed that also. They were really great. I would use them again in the future too.

On a house sale, we (the seller) were required to hire a drainage specialist to insure that the crawlspace drainage systems in place are in good working condition and adequate for the property's needs, and will make any necessary repairs. The home inspection had found small pools of water in the crawl space. Drainage Masters LLC inspected the crawlspace, specified the work to be done, and gave us an estimate by email the same day. The job estimator was very experienced and competent. We were on a tight schedule to meet the buyers' requirements, and the contractor scheduled the work on a Saturday to meet our requirements within his busy spring work schedule. The work was performed professionally and on schedule. We had received bids from two other companies for more or less comparable work, and Drainage Masters was the lowest of the three.
Description of Work: Install a pipe and rock drainage system in a new trench along the uphill wall of a crawlspace and waterproof seams where moisture was present, approximately 60 ft., and connect to the existing crawlspace drain. Eight feet of plywood decking had to be removed and replaced to access a portion of the ditch. Re-spread vapor barrier and pin to ground at top of cut bank.

I recently purchased a house that was found to have a drainage issue in the crawl space. Based on their Angie's List rating and my agent's recommendation, I contacted Drainage Masters. After an evaluation of the problem I received an estimate from them, as well as from another company. I decided to go with Drainage Masters and contacted them to set a date for the work to be performed. Heather was very nice and accommodating of my scheduling issues. We stayed in touch via e-mail & telephone to insure convenient scheduling and completion of necessary paperwork. When the day finally arrived the crew arrived on time and got right to work setting up their equipment and putting down plastic everywhere they were going to be throughout the house and even in the garage. I thought it was a bit of overkill, boy was I wrong. A team of 4 went to work after a few minutes. Over the course of the job when one or more of them would emerge from the crawl space I could see why the extensive plastic precautions were put in place. They were covered in mud! This is some unpleasant work. They worked non-stop until around 2:00pm then came out and explained they were breaking for lunch and would be back in 30 min. This is exactly what happened. They got right back to work until almost 5:00pm. After the crew came out they began to clean up the mud everywhere, including on themselves. They left the place mostly looking like nothing had happened! The crew leader thoroughly explained what had been done and presented me with the 10 year warranty info, and the bill. I believe this is the best money I will spend this year. These guys were extremely hard working, pleasant and professional. I am very glad I called Drainage Masters. I feel very confident that the job was done right and that I should have no more problems with water in my crawl space. Thank you guys!

The father son owner have a rare and odd characteristic about them---You see they are smart as well as honest! They spent a lot of time analyzing the problem-other companies attempted to sell me french drains and other crap that was totally unnecessary. Seth and his dad realized I had a drain problem-fixed it and charged me less than they promised! Yes-you read that correctly-Their workforce was equally talented and professional--You have no idea what a problem it was getting someone to correctly analyze and fix the problem--More than one company quoted me in excess of ten thousand dollars for a fix that would not have solved my problem Hire these people-listen to their recomendations-they are the most knowledgeable company in the portland area If your in a rush you could have a problem because lots of people have figured out what it took me lots of lost dollars to understand Believe me I am not a plant just a customer who was desparate for a solution to an ongoing problem--These guys are the solutiion--as I said smart and honest!

Steve arrived at the house 40 minutes early, and creepily followed me into the driveway. After I showed him the inside of the basement problems, he practically demanded to see the outside of the house where the gutter drains were. We already had another contractor working on the exterior drainage. My husband is a civil engineer who specifies pipe for stormwater, sewer, and water lines on a daily basis. Steve repeatedly, rudely, and nastily told me how the pipe we chose was incorrect, faulty, and that the whole project was being done improperly. He promised a quote within 36 hours, and never got back to us within a week. I didn't feel comfortable as a woman home alone with Steve, and I would never trust him in my house to do any work. He is rude, and does not know what he is doing.

I made an appointment with Steve to discuss my options for basement waterproofing. He was helpful in pointing out some things I could do to improve the drainage situation around my house without hiring a contractor. It was a very positive meeting and I may hire Drainage Masters to install a new rain barrel in the future, but did not have them prepare an estimate.

Since the installation we have had several very heavy and extended rain storms and have experienced no drainage problems. The crawl-space beneath our house remained dry during these storms and I only heard the sump pump engage once and for only a few seconds. It was somewhat costly, but the crew was friendly and professional and did a good job of cleaning up after the installation. I have no real complaints.
Description of Work: Drainage Masters, LLC (Post Office Box 533, Ridgefield, Washington 98642 - 360-694-5847 or 877-887-1149), personnel investigated our existing drain system on June 07, 2010 and determined that our dry well was not functioning properly. They subsequently returned on July 28, 2010 to lay a new three-inch ABS drain line (approximately 65 feet in length). The new line was connected to an existing city drain line. In addition, they installed in-line downspout screens (8 screens).

The gentlemen that came out to do the estimate was great had good ideas and information however I was supposed too get my estimate after a week but instead after 2 weeks I called and the lady said they were waiting for numbers to come in but by the next day they would have something. Well I received no phone call or email after 1 more week went by I called again and the lady said sorry but their still waiting for numbers. I understand that they were waiting for numbers but they never kept me in the loop instead I had to keep calling. Its to bad because the gentlemen that came out really seemed to know what he was doing, unfortunately for them they lost out on a BIG project.

I did not select Drainage Masters primarily because their work schedule was booked out for a month, and I needed the work done sooner. I went with a different contractor with a somewhat lower bid and who could do the work within a week. However, I was impressed with Drainage Masters and would not hesitate to consider using them in the future.
Description of Work: When I first called they arranged for Chris to come out and make a bid. The earliest they were able to come out was one week later. The work was to replace ~65 feet of down-spout drain along two sides of my house. Chris was very thorough in scoping out the work. His bid was not the lowest, but it was not unreasonable either.

They arrived around 8:30am. Two men went under the house to work on digging out the perimeter to install the drain and two men were outside preparing the trenches to lay the piping for the external connection. They laid a plastic walkway down to enter the crawlspace with minimal mess. Fortunately our crawlspace entrance is near the front door. About mid morning we lost our water and found out that a water pipe had been broken in the front yard. Apparently when we had some French drains installed by some other people, they placed the water pipes to a depth of 12 inches instead of 24 required by code. We still had our receipts from this job in 2007 and gave these to the men working outside. They tried to contact this company but since it was the observed holiday for the 4th of July, the company was not open. This is the down side of working on a holiday. They managed to buy some parts and fix it and we were advised to call that company to try to get our money back. Drainage Masters charged us an extra $100 to fix it. We thought it was reasonable and better than having no water. They worked hard and were able to finish the entire job by 5pm.
Description of Work: They installed a drainage system along the perimeter of the crawlspace under the house. This also involved laying piping in our front yard to connect to the sewer drain at the street.

I could not imagine spending 3 days working in that crawl space. They did a great job and when they left everything was clean. They also gave us a guarantee that there would be no water under the house for 10 years.
Description of Work: We have had water under our house for 20 years. We tried 2 different french drains on the outside of the house but they couldn't control the amount of water coming into the property. Drainage Masters went under the house, pulled out all the barrier plastic, dug trenches to the lowest point under the house, filled the trenches with perf pipe and gravel, ran a new drainage pipe to the street and replace new barrier plastic.

Excellent results. There was one particular leak that was very difficult because the system only mis-performed during torrential downpours. The cause turned out to be a minor installation glitch from the work they had done. The Drainage Masters crew came out, figured out what the problem was, acknowledged it was on their installation and took full responsibility for the remedy and took care of the cleanup work the leak had created. We have been extremely pleased with all aspects of the work they have done for us and would not hesitate to recommend them for any work involved in water drainage systems.
Description of Work: Our home is at the bottom of a hill at the edge of a wetland area so drainage is a serious concern. The Drainag Masters people have diagnosed and solved several long-term drainage problems on our property in the past three years. They are prompt, the work has been top-quality and most importantly, has fixed the problems we had. One problem was a leak that soaked a downstairs area very intermittently - sometimes once or twice a year, sometimes not at all during a rainy season. Seth diagnosed and oversaw the installation of an additional sump pump in our basement and the floor has been dry since. Another job involved the renovation of an extensive french drain system and finally we had a very old problem with a gutter drain overflowing. Again, a correct diagnosis and resolution.

Fantastic! They did everything like they said they would do it. They showed up on time (even early, to accommodate my schedule), they had a big crew and brought the big equipment out just in case they needed to move dirt that way. In the end, the crew dug by hand and were very aware of keeping the surroundings looking good. They made minimal disturbance to the surrounding area. They answered all my questions and asked good ones about how I wanted the finished rock lines to look. They were very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

2 separate jobs --- I had the basement dug out first. When I asked for a bid, I informed the rep. that I was on Angie's List. The listing for this company on Angie's List indicates a list discount for members. When the bid came in I didn't see an Angie's List discount indicated. I asked about it and was told that the bid was already heavily discounted. A conciliatory offer of $20 off the total bill was offered to me by the rep, Seth, and I accepted it. When the bill came in from the office of Drainagemasters, however, the woman there had no information on the earlier agreed upon $20 discount and would not give it to me. So, in summary, there is NO Angie's List discount available to list members, contrary to what Drainagemasters' representations indicate on this web site. There was also some significant confusion about my credit card and it took several calls for that to get straightened out - their explanation - "we are having trouble with our card processing service". On the second job, involving the rain barrel and gutter cleanouts, the crew was over an hour late, but in fairness I did get advance calls alerting me to that. Also, the bid indicated that I needed 8 downspout cleanouts but the installer said that was inaccurate since the barrel has a screen filter at the top and a cleanout on the gutter would be redundant. I reduced the bill, on my own, by $35, in recognition of that. Also, the crew brought with them the wrong color barrel when they arrived. They attributed that to "internal office confusion". Finally, several of my email messages to this company were not received by them at their Comcast address. "We've been having trouble with our internet". I am happy with the work they did but their front office efforts are challenging, to put it mildly. That is why I downgraded them on professionalism in this review. And I never did get my promised $20 discount, but I am not going to make an issue out of that amount. Just a "heads up" to anyone who considers using this outfit - get it in writing.

Very well. I got an visit from Steve who gave an estimate within 24 hours. He arranged to have one of his workmen install a tarp to cover the area prior to the work since it would be a week before it could be completed. I had excellent communication from the company regarding date and time of the work, including a change to an earlier start time. There was an adjustment to the price after the excavation of the older pipe that increased the price $250. The crew was polite and a pleasure to deal with. All work was completed by the end of the day. Bonus points: some brick and plants that had to be removed were relocated and replanted (!) to a new area. Wow. All debris and mud were cleared by the end of the job. The only disappointment was lack of an Angie's List discount. All in all, excellent, professional work for a fair price.

Seth and the office staff at Drainage Masters were extremely responsive, professional and courteous upon my initial call. Seth came on site, addressed all questions and concerns and explained his recommendations. The office staff (Trine) was very responsive and proactive about scheduling the work as well as communicating my additional questions to Seth for prompt follow up. Seth and his team were extremely professional, punctual, courteous and thorough in their clean up as well. They finished the project a half day ahead of schedule, too.
