Was having problems with water in the crawl space of a recently constructed addition. Consultation with three drainage specialists concluded that perimeter drain was installed incorrectly. Decided to go with a specialist to correct the issue. Steve came out to do the estimate. He was on time and professional in his approach. We discussed the issue and potential remedies. He answered questions to my satisfaction. After the initial visit, they provided a detailed summary of the work that needed to be done. I requested references as well as a more detailed description of some aspects of the work which they provided promptly along with sketches of the planned installation. They back up the job with a ten year warranty. The crew arrived on time and appeared very organized. The system was installed in one day with minimum disruption to the tenants. The site was cleaned up and finish work was very neat--a walkway of crushed rock next to the foundation where they had excavated. Excavated areas of the lawn were regraded and reseeded. After a month or two of wet weather, I had a question regarding the function of the system. They sent a representative out and we determined that all was working well. They asked me to keep in touch if any more questions arise. The only pause that I had was their location as the company is located in Vancouver, WA while the jobsite is near Hillsboro--a distance of 25 or 30 miles. I have had problems in the past with contractors located at a distance but this proved not be be an issue with this contractor. The job turned out well and I would hire them again. They weren't the cheapest bid but I feel that, considering the job, the high level of service and followup, the price was quite fair.

We had trouble contacting the company. We left one message. Our first call was never returned even though the message was left during regular business hours. We continued to call multiple times until a live person answered. From this point on, their responsiveness was much better. We set up an appointment with Steve. They are very busy, and we waited 2 weeks for the appointment. Steve was very professional and didn't push us in any way to have anything done. He said that the crawl space was dry and that all overflow seemed to be absorbed without any damage. We still wanted the problem corrected and decided to have the window well drainage problem corrected and the crawl space regraded. The workers arrived on time, were very courteous and professional, and completed their work. They laid down plastic where they were forced to walk inside the house and cleaned up both inside and out.
Description of Work: We had water collecting in the 2 window wells against the northwest corner of the house. When the window wells filled up, the water was draining into the crawl space. Another person installed a French drain, but that didn't correct the problem. We set up an appointment for Steve to come evaluate the problem and recommend a solution.

it went very well. Seth Kenworthy did the estimate, explained the process clearly, answered questions and worked through minor issues that occurred. Their office was responsive, they showed up on time, did the work exactly as bid, got permits pulled and approved as agreed, and paid attention to detail in a way that left us very satisfied. The quality of the work was excellent, and it was clear from watching them that they were extremely experienced in the work they did for us. It's early to tell, but since they finished it has poured and the dry well has worked exactly as expected in every way. I recommend Drainage Masters, our experience with them was very positive.

| |I've had several contractors out over the last 10 years to try to identify the source of and eliminate the leakage in my basement whenever there was heavy rain. This includes installing a sump pump, french drains around the house, gutter repair and downspouts moved. This was, hopefully, the final issue addressed (leakage through the window). So far, so good. We haven't really had heavy rain since the work was done in November, so it's too early to say whether the leakage problem was solved. Their quality of work, price, and professionalism were all excellent, however, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Provided drainage from a window well that would fill with water every time there was a torrential downpour. Drainage Masters determined that an earlier installed french drain was leaking into the window well through an eroded cement casing and recommended installing a pipe from the window to the street.

The job was well done, and they were flexible about minimizing the cost by my removing river rock ground cover myself, in preparation. I was also given a significant discount for a long delay while they attended to a more urgent job. Given that it was the dry season I was just fine with that. I would use this service provider again.

The raingarden and creekbed projects went pretty well, and they both work due to the recent rains. The creekbed effectively moves water the 110 feet to the basin they installed. The water stays within the creekbed river rocks and that is a welcome relief frrom years of using the pipe which always would plug. The two raingardens became a issue during the quote process. Just keep in mind that raingardens do not include the plants. I argued that it isn't a raingarden without plants, ...it is just a piped in hole in the ground. So factor in that when making plans. One of my main issues was water accumulating near my patio, and when it rains really hard the moisture travels up the patio all the way to my shed. The french drain that they installed to correct this issue FAILED. The quote contained a cobble block wall with the drain, so when it failed to work it really made a dent in my wallet. A subsequent correction was about 75 % effective...but I had to PAY even more to have that done. The guys doing all the MANUAL work were good. My issues with Drainage Semi Masters was a failed project, designed by them. Just make sure you get in writing what they plan to do if a project fails. A simple, "Oh, we'll make sure you're happy," doesn't cut it. I wish I put that little tidbit into the contract. Heather in the office did the scheduling and kept in contact via email. If Steve or Seth tell you they'll have this or that by blah blah, then factor in at least a few extra days. I didn't hear from them since I had faxed the contract back, but they showed up on time on the date to start. So they have that going for them.

Drainage Masters were great. They came out a couple of times to check everything out. Everything was right on budget. I had another company come out, but I think Drainage Masters were better overall. They other company wanted to put in fancy pumps versus putting in a drain. The drains cost less than the sump pump the other company tried to sell me. I would give them A's all around.
Description of Work: I used Drainage Masters to dig out my crawlspace. They did a full perimeter drain in my crawlspace and then put in a new low point drain in to go to the street. There was water getting into the crawlspace. They also did some waterproofing of the concrete. They bored a whole to the street, including under the lawn and a sidewalk, and then when they were done they put everything back together.

Drainage Masters came out on the day we were going on vacation and started the project. Once they finished, a gutter company came out to install new gutters and downspouts around the house. When we came back a few days later, all the work had been completed with the exception of a few missed connections due to some miscommunication. Drainage Masters came out right away and installed the missing connections. We were very happy with Drainage Masters timeliness, work and professionalism and would certainly use them again.

Here's the thing.....I really liked this company. I thought they were conscientious and very thorough during the process of determining the water issue in my basement. The execution of the work was also very good. I had high hopes that this was going to be a solution that solved our problem. However, I was verbally guaranteed that my basement would be dry for 3 years. (Lesson learned : always get a guarantee in writing). When November came and the season of regular rain started, my basement was the wettest it had ever been! Thus, the $8000 I spent was wasted. When the owner Seth came back to my house to assess the situation, he was defensive and told me he did not give me that guarantee. He then changed his tune and said if he did give me that guarantee, it was only for one of the basement walls which they waterproofed. It was ironic since the wall in question was also wet as well and we were having a conversation in front of it! He did try to quick-fix the water seeping into the wall, but it didn't work. I stil have a wet basement. He did say he would give me a discount on doing additional work, and he recommended a full french drain going around the entire foundation. However, it was not an $8000 discount, or even close, and it did not include a guarantee. It would be hard to spend that kind of money again without knowing it will work. I don't want to bash this company, because he seems like a nice guy and is a family man. However, I would caution spending as much money as I did without knowing all the facts
Description of Work: I had a partial french drain put in at a problem area of my foundation and a new drainage system that flowed into the street/sewer. I also had some basement walls waterproofed. They guys were all very professional, efficient, and courteous.

Steve's crew came out (5 I think) and were done within a couple hours. We have a small place, but even so....they were quick. They covered my floors and were very careful not to damage walls, etc. They also checked the drain by walking around the foundation with a hose and letting the water run. I havent got down in the crawlspace during a rainy period to check for myself to see if it works, but I will as soon as I can.
Description of Work: Just bought a house and inspector found water in crawlspace. Call a few different people for bids. One company said I would need to have a sump pump installed because my low point drain was too high. I had told him I didnt want a pump and that I wanted a crawlspace drain system (french drain style) so what other options did I have....he explained that he could run leach lines out to side property that wasnt even mine! Terrible! Next, Drain Masters came out and Steve took a look and said he could put in a crawlspace drain and though the drain was a little high....it should work. If not....he said they could lower the drain. Much better response! I knew I had the right people....integrity!

The crew arrived at the appointed time, and were well equipped with surveying equipment to ensure slope of installed pipe was sufficient to allow for proper drainage, and the tools they needed to complete the job. Each crew member appeared to know what his job was, and they worked quickly and efficiently, including during the times the foreman was away to obtain materials, etc. I couldn't have asked for a more polite bunch of guys. They notified us whenever they arrived or left the job site for lunch break, etc. The job took two days to complete, and they cleaned up after themselves, including hauling off a decrepit picnic table for me, along with a 10" diameter cedar tree that had to go when they moved the rock wall. They were careful to wash off all the mud they tracked into the street in front of our house. And they used gutter dam to prevent the mud from washing into the storm drain. We will use their services again. In fact, Steve is coming tomorrow to discuss additional work we want them to do.
Description of Work: I like this company, although I've nicked them a bit on punctuality. Steve does all their estimating, and seems to be very busy. He sometimes is a little late for appointments, and promised written job estimates can slide by several days from when promised. But I think he gets a bit behind on his scheduled appointments because he takes ample time with the homeowner to be sure he completely understands what work is wanted. And if he's running late, he lets you know that by phone. And to be fair, we had a fairly complex, multi-faceted job for him, and he was very accommodating in offering options for us to choose from. His bid was comprehensive and professionally presented. And Steve has a fine crew working for him. They are all polite, accommodating, knowledgeable, and work efficiently together as a team. Work performed: Installed a French drain and piping to the street to drain an area of our yard that gets swampy each time it rains. They also hooked our gutter downspouts into the same drain line, and bored a 3" hole through the curb for the pipe to empty onto the street pavement. Removed part of a berm and moved a rock wall to widen our RV drive. Excavated a graveled area of our back yard, and installed a 12'x12' paver patio, with manor stone and basalt retaining walls. Raised the grade on a part of our lawn and seeded it. Aerated lawn (we have clay soil), removed soil plugs, and filled holes with soil/sand mix. Moved and transplanted several shrubs for us. Moved excavated soil to a different part of the yard and built a new berm. Raised and leveled our A/C outdoor unit and raised one of our step stones that was below grade.

They did an excellent job. They came in and just dug up everything. At one point we went outside and looked, and there was just dirt. It just looked crazy out there because of all the digging that they were doing. When they left, it had looked like they were never even there. Everything was put back the way it was. They did an excellent job. We thought their price was pretty reasonable. Their quality of service was great we thought. The way they even worked with us, everything was pretty good. Their responsiveness was good. They said that they would be here at 8 in the morning, and they were here by 8. We will use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Drainage Masters. We last used their services a week and a half ago. We had a drainage problem under our house where all the water would go under our house. They did a good job. But from start to finish, it took 3 months. It took 2 bids to understand the requirement wherein the bid went from $5K to $8K. Even the second bid failed to recognize the condition of the wall. To correct the shelf they had to replace some concrete. The bid for the 2 day job then went from $8K to $11K. They left concrete on our brick walk. But they were friendly and responsive when they returned to clean it up. Overall, we're happy about the job, but not the price or the process. We would have gone a different route had we known the cost would more than double.
